Ashby Grill in North West Leicestershire

I went in with six friends & every one of us was ill, I certainly would not recommend this place and I will not visit again. I would rather go hungry.

Family favourite for good burgers, delicious pizza & perfect kebabs. Beat kebabs around. Authentic grilled good quality meat. Chicken & kofte are firm favourites with homemade chilli sauce & mint yogurt.

Best pizza Ever I had & crispy chips very good service. Kebab with home made chilli sause is banging. Highly recommend….

I'm sad to say that we have just had a disaster of a take away. I have never seen a pizza with such sparse toppings (less than 1 mushroom, 1 slice of tomato, a few onions and green peppers, probably totalling less than 50p!) For a £9 pizza you'd be better off spending a pound at Iceland and buying one of their pizzas, certainly have more toppings on them. The Donner kebab, well to say that the salad was the tastiest part of it is an understatement. The kebab meat tasted mainly of binder and emulsifier which as anyone in the trade knows has no taste and the mint yoghurt was more like a white base sauce with a few green specks in it. It was like it had been watered down, certainly no hint of mint in it. Such a shame really as we were hoping that it would be a good comparison to Coalville Grill which on this evidence is streets ahead. I don't like giving bad reviews but if you are on a budget but have decided to give yourselves a treat it will leave you feeling extremely disappointed. The only good thing was we were told it would be 30mins and it only took 20 to arrive.

Extremely disappointed this evening. For about 27 years since my mum run the conti in Ashby I’ve always used Ashby Grill, I’ve always found it expensive but high quality and happy to pay for such delicious food. After tonight I will never use them again after such rude a disrespect for a loyal customer. In 27 years I’ve called twice to say once that my sauce was all spilt in my bag and another time to say extra toppings I payed for was missing and on those occasions they offered me a few quid off my next order that I happily accepted. Tonight I ordered 2 pizzas as it advertised 2nd half price I asked if that was correct and told yes, and the house special kebab that’s £20! Now it’s absolutely delicious and I only have one maybe twice a year so real treat. I ask for salad and sauce separately and told yes always. I ask can I pay card on delivery and he says he send me bank details so I pay and my order is made and delivered to me in 25 minutes!! Pizzas looked beautiful, they went off with their happy customers and I open mine up. The sauce is swimming in the bag, I open up the box and it’s drenched it sauce 😭😭 I’ve had the most awful few days, emotionally drained and on the rare occasion I think I know I’ll have a take away it’s always my order that’s wrong 😭 I can’t eat that, it’s not what I want, it’s not what I asked for and it’s not what I payed for, so I call them…….. First I got accused of not asking for separate Then told if I want to make sure it’s correct like that to order on line Then told next time I can have one half price??? I don’t want one half price? I wanted what I ordered and payed for? Just give me a refund instead….. No, flat out refused to refund me said it’s not what customers normally ask for and that I am suspicious!! I’m telling you it’s in the bin I send him a photo of it in my kitchen bin only to be accused of putting it in a plain bag for a photo and then take it out and eat it and get a free one! By the time he had sent me that reply I had already took the bag out to the wheelie bin, after he accused me of this I sent him a video of me busting open the bag in my black wheelie bin and showing it as proof only to be told I tried to scam him before? I’m not trying to fleece you I said, if you made a mistake in the past I’ve mentioned it and you put it right, I’ve come here for about 27 years and always come to you and your accusing me? I would be happy to come to collect a fresh one but I was refused. I’m a customer and Im not allowed to let you know when you made a mistake? Answer is he’s banning me!! Like I would return after such rudeness! I’m absolutely gutted, the standards of food has always been so high there but I’ve never been one to throw money away and always felt if I’m paying for a service and something is wrong then I will say so it can be rectified but also in turn, if I have excellent service I tip and give praise too!! At the end of the conversation I was asked if I put it in the bin then what did I have to eat, well I went to makkies thanks and I’m £20 down from someone who called their loyal customer a suspicious person and I most certainly wouldn’t ever go there again after being called a lier! So yes Ashby Grill consider this a poor review and a warning to anyone if your order is wrong he won’t believe you or will give you a few quid off your next one but if they make a mistake again then that’s it, your just out to fleece them and get a free meal

Ordered chicken and chips and the chips tasted like cardboard! the chicken was the biggest disaster. It was black for whatever reason and so fatty. My personal opinion is it was simply the worst I've ever had and i do not recommend this place. It all ended up in the bin so save your money and go elsewhere

I was working in the area,so was looking for some quick food..the food was awful..chicken rubbery and the donner meat cold..the salad was ok..they even charged 30p to squirt some garlic mayo on my chips..joke of a place..ended up in the bin..

I’ve been robbed! Asked for 3 pieces of fried chicken and chips and it cost £8.90, there was a handful of chips on top of the worst fried chicken I’ve ever seen, it looked like it had been taken out of the bin and re fried, you lot owe me a big apology and my £8.90 back!!!

I recommend any person, if you can, to go in the store, the staff in the store are amazing, you get greeted by the most calming and welcoming smile I have come across in my life so far. I only decided to go to the store personally because the delivery driver couldn't find my address on a previous order, and I was upset that I paid delivery charge but had to go to collect it from the driver. I will never order for delivery again after going in there. They are so lovely, even though I wanted to pay on card, they didn't get mad (I didn't see the CARD ONLY sign). I tried to pay through my banking app but, it failed so I just took a short walk down the street to the ATM. The food is great, it kept warm on my walk back, about ten mins. The burger was tasty and juicy, the fries were crispy and fluffy even though they had vinegar on them. I was expecting them to be soggy when I got back, I was quite shocked because non of them were soggy. I wish I had of left them with my change, their hospitality was well deserving of it. Thank you Ashby Grill.

You pay for what you get. Can’t really complain about this place the kebabs are fantastic you get plenty of meat and the salads are delicious. They don’t take card payments it can become a little annoying on a night out. Good pizza.

There is a convenient parking lot in front of the store where you can park and wait until your delicious food is ready. The menu is rich and includes a variety of pizzas, various kebabs such as chicken, lamb, beef, burgers and much more. I always visit this place when I have the opportunity to eat something tasty in a hurry or to takeaway . Firstly, the staff is extremely welcoming and kind! We had pizzas. Things to note: the dough is home made, NOT bought as other pizzerias do! Thus, the pizza is extremely puffy and tasty. Definitely recommend! Additionally, they have home made souses which are much tastier than packages ones. We also got meat. They do offer halal meat and halal pepperoni which makes the shop muslim friendly! The food is prepared extremely quickly. We waited max 10 minutes for 2 large pizzas and chicken screwer. The chicken screwer was nicely marinated which added a great tasty. Moreover, the place had 5/5 cleaning rates. They do clean every bit of the place every day NOT once a week as most places. Considering all mentioned above and all the variety of food, definitely a must try!

Clean shop, delicious food, fast preparation and friendly staff! Pizzas are delicious with homemade dough, the meat is well cooked and well seasoned! Highly recommended!!

First time ordering from here last night and I have to say it was excellent! We had a pizza, the dough was so light and the toppings really delicious with loads of flavour! We also ordered some donner meat which was also lovely, best I’ve had locally that’s for sure…. I can’t wait to try more of the menu very soon!

We ordered from this place whilst away on holiday and we did have our reservations as we aren't from the area but let me tell you, we were not disappointed!! The delivery was fast, the driver was friendly and the portion sizes are great so I would recommend this place for sure!! 🙂

Ordered a kebab and pizza tonight asked for separate lettuce and separate sources as my partner don't like it mixed it came all mixed when we rang up they asked if we've opened it we said yes we did and they refused to change it....foods never been that great but not rectifying their mistake is appalling would never use them again

Had a pizza the other week and ended up being very sick. Won't be ordering from there again

I’ve been ordering Chicken Shish kebabs for years. They’re amazing! Fresh marinated chicken with loads of fresh salad, plenty of lettuce and red cabbage and juicy tomatoes! On a soft pita bread with a sauce of your choice. The kebabs are authentic like you would find in Turkey, I’ve had a lot of kebabs and spent a large part of my life living in Turkey and I wouldn’t order a take out kebab from anywhere else in the area! The sides are great; in particular the cheese jalapeño balls, and onion rings which are always hot and crispy. Ashby as a town is such a disappointment for takeaways, believe me I’ve tried them all! They are mostly very poor, curries which are neon with chewy Turkey meat advertised as chicken, and Chinese full of MSG. Ashby Grill is now the only place I would actually order from. I trust the food and it’s always fresh, it’s very clean inside and the staff are friendly and polite. Delivery is also always very quick. Don’t believe the bad reviews, try it for yourself.

Food is pretty good for a kebab shop. Banter is good from the guys there. Highly recommend

The staff appear very friendly however, there service methods are not transparent to the customer,.... they cook it in front, good, but then prep and deliver out of the eyes of the customer, we ordered and paid for something and we got,.. much less,..very disappointed! a large chicken kebab turned into not a lot, your better just ordering a standard one, you cannot be cheated then

Wow what amazing food. Small take away in the centre of Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Well worth going out of your way to collect food from there. Staff amazing and so helpful. We moved to Ashby in March and have had food from Ashby Grill on a regular basis. They certainly don't deserve bad reviews. Kebabs, Homemade Pizzas. Salads all fresh. Sauces to suit your taste. Prices all very reasonable. A must visit location.

Been here a couple of times, always opted for veggie options and so far been ok. Possibly a little pricey for what it is.

Ashby Grill messed up my order and they won't give me a refund for food that never arrived ! I've been ordering for years and they treat you really poorly if there's a problem ! They claim that they rang but my phone has no recorded calls. I'm never going back again !!!! I was unwell and fell asleep waiting for the order, when I rang back they said it was my fault for falling asleep. A complete rip off !! Luckily there are plenty of other places to go !

Terrible, absolutely terrible suns it up in a nutshell.My partner and I fancied a late night kebab to share. We were passing by and was peckish so impulsively bought one.Both being 100% sober, we were treated and spoke to as if we were absolutely legless. Staff were short, rude to my wife (not the first time here) and didn’t listen to a word you said (order was incorrect)The kebab itself was nice, fresh salad. But fir nearly £10 which we assumed would be ample large enough to share was an absolute pi$$ take. Doner with a couple pieces of chicken and lamb.Being so dependent on the drunken brigade at weekends I very much doubt that will read this or even care!

Always loved ashby grill because I’d get wings and fries and be happy with my life. This time, I ordered a chicken and doner kebab in honour of my brother, as I only recently found out this was his favourite. AFTER TWENTY MINUTES: I received my kebab ( a plate of salad) and they tell me to get out for licensing reasons.. I leave without a fuss then realise I HAVE NO DONER MEAT. WHAT?! I LEGIT HAD THIS CONVERSATION WITH MY BROTHER HOURS BEFORE.. THESE PLACES DO NOT DESERVE SUCH ALLEGIANCE! THESE PLACES DO NOT DESERVE LOYALTY! US FAST FOOD LOVERS WILL FIND ANOTHER, AND OUR LOVE WILL BE FOREVER MORE

When you say, "I could eat my own arm", this place is for you. The large kebab is literally the same size as a mid-30s engineer's forearm and is stuffed with the best donner meat in Ashby. Also arrived 15mins early! This was my first try but so far typical Turkish quality kebabs, will be using again regularly.

Disappointed .... have always loved the ashby grill for quite a number of years and have highly recommended to friends but tonight .... a chicken shish with three pieces of chicken is taking the mick! Salad is fresh and delicious but only finding 3 small pieces of chicken is truly awful! You’ve lost another customer ....

Ordered kebabs. They were delivered without salad, when it clearly states that all kebabs come with a pitta and salad. When we complained we were told that we had to state we wanted salad. This is bull! If the menu states that your kebab comes with salad you should not have to ask. If they are saying your meal comes with the extras and it does not, this is false advertising. They are quite clearly saying on their menu that the salad is included. You should not have to ask. Don't waste your money!

Cheap cheerful takeaway , good food great prices Staff friendly enough

Pizza turned up tonight no cheese on as it had all slid off and it was obviously on the side on the way to being delivered to me when I tried to call and complain the lady didn't undertand what I was trying to say very disappointed!!

During in my visit to Ashby Grill on the 7th of October (earlier AM). I entered at around 2:25am (which I know is late for a Friday night they closed at 2:30 haha) well... I ordered 2 x kebab wrap and chips with a drink, and... a kebab meat and chips. At this point as you would know we were very happy. However, 2 minutes later a young lad, who was working stated £18:10. I replied "ooooh that's a lot". As I was calculating, his colleague (star in the video evidence) told me to get out of his shop as I would not pay. I appreciate this was early AM. As the shop was closing. However, aside from the staff telling me £18.10 with a second to breathe (even making the food, this was not knowledgable) there was never an question or even demand for the money. Which as a citizen obviously I would abide by. I did not break or bend any rules or laws in place. Which is why I feel this is a matter to be addressed.

Brilliant delivery time and not too expensive. However, too much cheese on the pizzas which resulted in the pizzas to be covered in grease. Cheese was crisp in areas which gave the appearance the pizzas were cooked, but the pizza dough was undercooked 1/3 from edge to centre. It would be possible to scrape the toppings off and re-roll some of the dough. A real disappointment.

Best kebab meat I've had, would be a five star if they made their own nan bread.

Probablemente el mejor kebab y pollo para llevar (entregarte localmente) que he tenido! El doner es típico pero bien presentada. Pero alitas de pollo parecen piernas y son TDF)! Cordero kofta o Hamburguesa o Pizza o incluso todo recién cocinado. Realmente recomiendo este lugar. También tiene una insignia de 5 estrellas consejo limpieza.

What has happened to this place it used to be a nice place for a freshey cooked kebab now the kebabs are rubbish not freshly cooked as it would appear the staff have changed very threatening looking for a fight I think the police should look into this place.

Volví treinta minutos más tarde y fue pedido por pago de nuevo. Les dije que había pagado y no tratar y con lo recogido la persona equivocada. Me dijeron que estaban ocupados, pero robando a la escoria basura nada. Presentará informes a las autoridades. Nunca DAR CUALQUIER NEGOCIO NO SE MERECEN QUE LOS NIÑOS SUELEN TARGET MUGRE CON ESTE timo.

For this reason I won't be eating this fast food. Halal meat should not be served in this town! Dirty stinking hole. To expensive.

Lamb Shish is £7:50 which is rather expensive to where I come from but tastes really good though. Like how the user of Medium, Large, Super are used rather than Small, Medium and Large.

Me encanta este lugar, comida rápida y los chicos amables. Reír mucho si vas después de los pubs Kick-out, el lugar realmente empieza. Comida caliente, el único problema era la rara mujer junto a mí que seguía dejando caer en su pelo, mayonesa aparte de eso, todo bien.

The Best Take away in Ashby, Meat is cooked to perfection and if you like your chili you have to try there homemade chili sauce

My husband likes the chicken kebabs and when my son (age 9) wanted one the other day we tried to get him to share a large as he doesn't eat a lot. After a lot of moaning we conceded and let him have one to himself - he ate it all, most we've seen him eat - he loved it and had chips too - must be good.

Had several kebabs, always tasty and seem reasonable quality as far as kebabs go. Decent prices and also sell pizza etc.

Having to moved to Ashby 9 months ago I have to say this is one on the Very Best Kebab places I have found anywhere. I can't comment on the donna as never eat them but the Lamb and Chicken Shish have always been perfect as has the Kofta. Served with a fantastic fresh salad, even homemade chilli sauce (if you dare). This place knocks the spots off any of the kebab places I have used in Derby and in fact almost anywhere else (apart from one in Greece) If there were 10 Stars I would give them 11....

I will not be using Ashby Grill again. We ordered 4 Shish Donner kebabs, they arrived in good time and hot but the Donner meat was like leather and the Shish turned out to be pieces Chicken!!!!!!!! However the Chicken pieces were cooked to a "tee". I expected my Shish to be pieces of Lamb, which is usual around these parts. I would have prefered to have been told that the Shish part was Chicken and not Lamb and I consider it to be rather overpriced.

Come here every single Saturday best take away food in Leicestershire highly recommend staff friendly great food just wish they delivered to Heather but apart from that great!

If you want strips of hide drizzled in what they are calling "mint sauce" but actually resembles sour yoghurt then this is the grill for you. Along with the grim food the manager of the establishment, has definitely much to learn about customer service... In a word just RUDE!

The food took 2 hours to deliver. When we rang to find out where our food was, the delivery person had given up trying to find us and was on his way back to base. We know our house is hard to find and tried to give specific instructions when we ordered but the man was dismissive of us. Consequently our food was cold, soggy and inedible. It got thrown away. Very disappointed.

The food was oily and not to great. Chiken on the grill was ok.....a bit pricey for a take away.Food is made in front of you so this is ok. Depends on what you want but i wasnt amazed.

If you like quality Shish Kebabs then you'll love Ashby Grill. Cooked in front of you as you wait and the quality of the food is excellent and the portion sizes are generous. I drive from Swadlincote to eat here and I can't fault them. Enjoy!

I only go to this place after a few drinks... so my review may be slightly tainted ;)Ashby Grill is great- they do fresh, tasty food for reasonable prices and you can see the kitchen area so you know it's clean. The chicken kebabs are awesome and cooked right in front of you, so although it might take a bit longer than other places you know it's fresh!The staff are always pleasant and I've never seen any trouble going on despite being open until 2.30am and obviously serving some rather intoxicated people! Maybe not having any seating, meaning people don't generally hang around after they've got their food, helps...YUM YUM YUM
