Fantastic Food but expensive for Chip shop

Best fish and chips around this area. Fish always cooked to order so you know its fresh, a small tray of chips while you wait and reasonably priced. Excellent place

The team were very helpful with a large order placed at short notice, everyone is polite and friendly and the food was piping hot and delicious!

Fantastic chip shop. The shop is kept clean and tidy. The menu is full of good choices (both food and drink). Staff are helpful and welcoming. Would recommend.

Such a great chip shop, all the food is amazing and portion sizes are very generous. In particular the chicken and donner kebabs are amazing. Everything is cooked fresh. Staff are so friendly, we have tried most of the local chip shops in Ashby, Swad and surrounding areas and nothing beats this one.! Keep up the good work and look forward to many more chip shop dinner's!

Best chippy you could wish for, food is first class staff are fantastic. The manager is there early mornings deep cleaning to ensure the place is immaculate. The village is lucky to have such an asset I'm away alot but always look forward to the good food and lovely welcome

Not consistent, have used before and it was OK, but On this occasion, the chips were barely warm and were an assortment of under and over cooked. It's Quite pricey for a chip shop. That said, it does offer a good selection, it's clean and the staff are friendly.

Great chippy, oil is changed frequently making for great chips. Salad is fresh and chicken kebabs cooked to order and very tender Fish is light and tasty Staff are always friendly Would take recommend this place Cash only

Had the kebabs reccomended to me by a few…was amazed when I got home to see that I had to build my own kebab! Which was a tough task when I was given essentially 2 teaspoons of chilli sauce in a tiny pot. A chilli sauce which was as hot as icelandic mans small toe. Chicken quality was good however so it’s earned an extra star, but very disappointed

Stood waiting to be served, looked right through us. Had to be prompted to serve! Smallest chips £3.20! Worst chips we've had in a very long while. Clearly warmed up from day before. Absolute rubbish.

Only found this chip shop recently but love it. Food is beautifully cooked and not greasy. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. It's a hidden gem.

It was quiet mid afternoon Saturday, when we stopped here for a much needed energy boost. We were greeted with very friendly staff and waited a short while for our order to be freshly fried. We had fish n chips, small portion, which was all cooked to perfection. It was served in a small box with side dish (peas, curry) in a small tub. We all agreed it was a very good representation of a fish and chip meal. One or two other vendors should take note of this place. It is certainly worth a visit if you are passing.

There are many places around where i live and i go to none of them. Marlin is by far the best and worth the drive!! Can not ask for better service or food.

Sadly, the lovely man who used to cook the kebabs and always shook your hand with a friendly smile left some months agao. Since then it's gone down hill big time. The food is not like it was before and doesn't taste great. No service with a smile from the grumpy staff. We have gone to another chip shop. If you don't look after your customers with good customer service and raise the standard of food again you will lose even more customers! We want the other man back again please.

Although not very talkative, which is not always a bad thing, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is well cooked and plentiful, my personal favourite being their spring rolls. However product costs are becoming high! My favourite food from the Marlin Fish Bar is their spring rolls. In August they cost £1.20. The next time I went there they had gone up to £1.40 - well I suppose someone had to pay for the new signs they had done, so why not the customer? The last time I went to the Marlin was last Monday, 21st October and they had gone up to £1.90! If they carry on in this vein they will become too expensive for me to use. I know that prices have to be kept in line with the cost of living, but this seems a little too much. They have a lovely habit of giving customers a small tray of chips whilst waiting for their order, perhaps it might be more cost effective if they stopped doing this consequently keeping their prices down!

Passing by on my way to deliver a mercedes to customers.. When I spotted the chip shop.. Was happy I had..whilst waiting I had been given a small tray with chips on.. That was a first..an the staff was lovely.. I'm glad I stopped him putting more chips on my tray as I'd already eaten.lol.. Mini fish an mushy peas.. Hope to pass that way again at dinner time.. A couple of weeks ago I ordered 2 pineapple fritters and chips over the phone. Collected no problem only to get them home and find out they were potato fritters not pineapple. Mistakes happen so I just ate the chips. A week later I placed my phone order again for 2 pineapple fritters and chips. I then confirmed the order twice with what sounded like a very young lad over the phone. He replied with ‘I heard you. Pineapple’ I let it go as I did ask twice and I could see how it could sound silly. Picked up and again confirmed ‘There deffo pineapple fritters yes?’it was confirmed they were. I got them home and AGAIN they were potato. I rang to vent my frustration only to be giggled at by said young lad like it was done on purpose as I checked. I told him I wouldn’t be coming back to which he put the phone down. I’ve used this chip shop since the beginning. Giving great feedback on Facebook to help the business grow but I won’t be using again. You have a great chip shop I use to enjoy using but not after what happened with no refund offered or even an apology. You might serve great chips but thanks to poor customer service you’ve lost a customer in my household.
