Zhan Xung Chinese Takeaway in Poole

We are really disappointed in zhan xung, we’ve had takeaways here many times but our most recent one was awful: the chips and chicken balls tasted like they’d been sat under the heater light for the whole day. The rice and chow mein were so dry. It was all so disappointing. The delivery driver came to collect our meal after we had a very rude phone call discussing the problems with our food (we had eaten less than 10% of the food). Now my partner has the left a review and zhan xung has responded and lied that we had eaten over 90%. We were so gutted to have spent over 40 pounds on our anniversary to have a nice meal, which was ruined. The service was terrible, they’ve shafted us of £40, and effectively said that we’ve lied- we won’t be returning again. We’ve even had family have bad meals with them too and backed them up so many times 😐

Ordered from here a few weeks ago, food turned up and was pretty much inedible. Rang up to complain and they came to collect the remaining food and said we'd have a full refund/credit for our food (it was over £40). We've now just rang up to use our credit with the restaurant, hoping that the food will be better quality, and they're refusing to give us credit saying we ate some of the dishes and they're only prepared to give us 10% off our total order. Moral of the story is that we've spent over £40 on Chinese food and had 90% of the food taken back.Terrible customer service. Steer clear.

Please try the roast duck fried rice. For the prices their food aint bad

I've just had a delivery at 8.10 tonight way too early from the delivery time and the food turned up awful,wet and cold.Never again from this place! No stars after this and all in the bin £23 lighter

The guys at Zhan Xung are so friendly. So quick & the food is delicious! I won't use another Chinese takeaway someone had a Blade on me!

We happened to stumble upon this place when the Chinese we usually go to was shut. Service was reasonably quick very friendly and very helpful was lovely to hear they do 10% discount for emergency services as well :) food reasonable price and very tasty this will be our go to when we treat ourselves :)

First time using this take away, extremely nice food, great portion size and on time. Thank you, will certainly be back for more soon.

Website does not allow you to choose a time of delivery. Only when paid does the website say when you will receive your food. In my case one and a half hours later. Food generally greasy and NOT of a high standard.

Food was over an hour late arriving and was cold. On calling to complain was only offered a small discount next time I order ... really not great

Food was dried out and over cooked. Chicken balls had processed chicken and hardly any content, and over crispy and crunchy and hard to bite into. The ribs were over cooked and dry. I would not recommend this takeaway and will not be ordering anything in the future. Ordered food at 7.15pm and had to chase order at 9.00pm. Extremely disappointed. 😠

Over cooked fried rice stodgy and unpleasant Flavourless chicken satay Chowmain looked like it had been soaked in slime !

Best Chinese Food around for miles, never had a bad meal yet. Tasty and always hot.

Food is pretty good, some dishes better than others. Like some other reviews, not too sure about banana and cucumber in a satay sauce? Everything was lovely. When busy, ensure you order in plenty of time to avoid long waits. Wait times could be better estimated.

Below average - first time ordering and last. Food absolutely tasteless, tepid in temperature, I think instant noodles had been used as half the portion not cooked. Long delivery time. Definitely better Chinese takeaways around.

Ordered from here using their website. Got an email saying our ordered wouldn’t be ready for over one hour and a half. Finally picked up our order and was very disappointed, some food wasn’t very hot and fried dishes had lost the crispness where they had been sweating in containers. The egg friend rice was under cooked, bordering raw. Generally really lacking in flavour. If the dishes had been nice it would have been really great value for money and I honestly wouldn’t have minded waiting but to be presented with a really poor quality Chinese after waiting so long was disappointing

Been Using this place fo a long time Food is Great, but they really need to answer their phone even if the are busy. Ah well Fish and Chips again!

Absolutely disgusting We ordered food with you this evening. The man who delivered it was lovely but the food is absolutely disgraceful. Never before have I had such a bad Chinese takeaway. This was a treat for my young daughter after a lovely day and she is now really upset as the food is unedible. I've been constantly trying to get through to speak.to someone in person but am unable to. At the very least we would like a refund on all the food. This obviously doesn't make up for the unnecessary upset but hopefully we can purchase something nice on another occasion to make up for this evenings experience

Worst Chinese food ever. Dry, chicken balls like 99% batter and grease. Chow mein was oddly oily.

Had a great Chinese delivered. Delivered promptly and still hot. Happy, friendly driver who actually rang the bell which seems to be a novelty these days. Great dinner. Thank you guys

Friendly staff - We've never had a bad takeaway from Zhan Xung portions have always been good with fresh ingredients. The only downside is the wait but that's because they're popular. Delivery persons are also friendly.

If I could leave a minus 5* I would! Phoned a order in one hour before collection time go to collect and have to wait a further 20 minutes and to top it off it was cold !! Will definitely not return to this place or recommend to anyone

Order placed at 6.15 . Confirmed delivery will be here for 750! No food ! Called me at 8.10 to say ticket machine did not print ! Promised order will be here in half an hour . Arrived just after . Then was told only one driver ?? Not sure what to believe ! 🤔

Dry , overcooked and extremely stingy/ small portions of meat and veg. Chicken balls 99% batter. Singapore rice noodles 95% dry noodles with few pathetic scrap's of meat and veg the bottom. House rice zero flavour and about 50p worth of meat 🙄. Will never use again

This is the best Chinese in the area. We ordered through just eat. But forgot to mention that our daughter doesn't like beansprouts in her plain chow mein. I rang but they said they had already made her order, which was absolutely fair enough. However when they delivered it, they had redone her order and got it without the beansprouts. Such a lovely surprise, which I wasn't expecting. Definitely recommend this place. Thank you Zhan Xung, have a very happy picky eater, eating her dinner.

Really disappointed. Ordered directly as was impressed with food quality last time via Just Eat and thought we would like to support local business. So far been waiting over 2 hours and no sign of food. Phoned directly and no apology!??

We have been ordering from this place for years and this year the service has been absolutely appalling. Each time the wait for delivery is longer and longer. Last time they forgot our order, this time we had to wait over 2 hours. When you call them they say 10 minutes and you’re still waiting 40 minutes later. It’s is such a shame but I don’t think we’ll be ordering from them again. They’ve lost a loyal customer!

We were staying in a caravan at Rockley park & ordered food from Zhan Xung & its was delicious, decent price, delivered in a timely fashion & straight to the door of the Caravan. Excellent all round

The menu is extensive and prices standard. Portion sizes are also pretty standard although where there js an option to go large the charge is reasonable. Delivery was timely and the food was warm. Unfortunately for us every dish lacked on flavour and I felt £2 to deliver 2 miles was high.

Ordered on line got charged for it but food order not placed. Called shop to explain what has happened and that we would like to order on phone and they where trying to charge us twice. Once that was all sorted they said food would be 1 hour they they called me 2 minutes later saying it would be 2 hours. When I finally got there they where still trying to charge me twice no and food was still not ready for another 15 mins Food was average and beef dish was like eating syrup

Although the size portions are really good and relatively cheap, it's not very tasty at all. I don't usually order from here but it's only around the corner from my home so thought I would give it a go. The egg fried rice is really REALLY stodgy, The chicken balls were alright but really greasy and the sweet and sour sauce to go with them should just be called sweet sauce, it almost tasted like ice cream sauce?!... I won't be ordering from here again as I really can't afford to waste £20, this was a treat for me and I was just left disappointed! I was fooled by the good reviews.

Ordered from here a few times now, always been great with delivery or pick up. Food is great, delivery times are a bit longer than I'd expect, but they've always met them.

First time we've used this take away. Food delivered on time. Piping hot. Everything really tasty and generous portions. Will definitely recommend to others and ordering again very soon.

The order was wrong. Asked them to replace the meal, not unreasonable really, and then they tell us not to call them again. This place is ok as long as you don't complain, then when you do, they are very rude!

Was looking for a takeaway shop nearest to our accommodation, and luckily we found this. It's quite a wait ( order ), only because there was a big order before us. But the wait was all worth it. We ordered a meal for 2 ( though there's 3 of us ), and it's more than enough to fill all our hungry stomachs😁. To sum up.... Nice, good and just what we needed- food of that night. 👌

I've had previously ordered from here and couldn't fault them, not sure what happened on 08/08/2021 but I received very poor quality food. Burnt noodles that must have been scrapped out a pan, pancake rolls that were stale and appeared to be several days old. My experience was so appalling I won't ever be risking an order there again. Maybe the Sunday chief is different ?

Taken 2.5 hours to deliver, food was under cooked and Luke warm at best. Tried to contact them but unwilling to respond. Very disappointed. Will not be spending my hard urned money with them again.

We had takeaway from Zhan Xung on a lazy Tuesday night. Having tried a lot of the Chinese restaurants around the area, I can confidently say Zhan Xung is the best of the lot. Great food and service. Will definitely order again soon.

I have been using Zhang Xung for over 20 years now. I can safely say we always get a great take away. Whenever we have guests around, they comment on how good the food is. Food is always nice and hot when delivered and good quality. Keep it up and thank you.

Really good food as ever. On time and delicious!

I had their duck (Thai style) with steamed vegetables. I gave it 2 stars because I think duck was nice but because they smothered it in something like sugar syrup I couldn’t taste anything except sugar. I didn’t finish eating it Partners ribs been bone dry, seaweed was inedible. Prawn balls been chewy but tasted ok. Spring rolls wasn’t too bad. Overall dissatisfied and wouldn’t recommend

The curry was awesome. The sweet and sour could have done with a bit more flavour and the rice was a bit lack lustre but i enjoyed the curry.

It was 30 minutes late, but giving what’s happening in the world at the moment it was fine. I didneed to heat some of it up as it was slightly cold, but the food itself was delicious,

Brilliant service and excellent food

Food 9 out 10, always hot, always taste nice, never had food poisoning, good family run business, better than others around Poole. I know a lot of people who travel to get their food from here.

Great Chinese takeaway, consistently good with taste and quantity of food, also not too expensive. Marked down one as delivery service is not good and could be waiting sometimes over an hour. My advice would be to order for collection.

This was the first time we ordered from Zhang Xung and I have to say I wasn't impressed. I was told the delivery will take an hour max, it was delivered after hour and half. Food was tasty but portions very small comparing to what we are used to so definitely not good value for money. The food containers are about half the size of standard takeaway and prices are the same.. I probably wouldn't order from this establishment again...

Very quick service, and good food.

Good food but portions very small in comparison to my local Chinese take aways in Surrey, so really hard to weigh up how much you need for a family sharing meal as still just as expensive. Food very nice though.

I live in a house that over see’s the back of this takeaway and have lost count to the number of times I see their cooks having a fag and urinating in the back garden,to think I used to eat food prepared by these people.
