Nihao Chinese restaurant takeaway And Bar in Poole

I had only eaten take out from here until recently when I visited the restaurant for dinner. I had never found a decent Chinese restaurant here in England after moving from New York 10 years ago…until now. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and efficient. I have been back again, and found it one again to be excellent. Will definitely be going back.

My husband and I thought we’d try Ni Hao with our in-laws yesterday as it looked nice and our in-laws had enjoyed the food before (though mentioned there had been issues with delivery and them not being able to find them). My MiL put the order in around 3pm for delivery at 6:45. Someone from the restaurant called her at 6pm and asked if she would like earlier delivery and that it would be there around 6:20, to which she agreed and my husband and I went over to theirs earlier. At 6:45 we still had nothing so my MiL called the restaurant and they said it’s just coming and it finally arrived at 7. If it was just 15 minutes late on a busy Saturday night that would be ok but we were a bit confused because we were told it would be early and then it was late! We really enjoyed the food so it felt worth the wait. I ordered kung po beancurd for myself and it was really lovely - it’s a good job I don’t have a nut allergy because it was stuffed full of cashews and it didn’t state anything about that on the menu! That’s no problem for me but would be for those with allergies and intolerances. My MiL had a chicken dish (I forget which) which my husband tried some of. Well overnight my MiL had stomach cramps and diarrhoea and still isn’t feeling well. My husband also had an upset stomach. I worry that the dish wasn’t cooked properly and there may have been some illness amongst other customers? Altogether a mixed experience. I enjoyed my food a lot but definitely would have to consider ordering again due to the illness and would have to plan around delivery time :)

Fabulous little gem of a restaurant in Ashley Cross. Lovely service for myself & husband plus our two 11 year old boys. We all absolutely loved the varied menu. Our boys really enjoyed using chopsticks & tried noodles, seaweed, prawn crackers Korean fried dumplings beef chow mein, spicy shredded beef & banana fritters. Great value too. We will be back!

The food was wonderful and the staff were lovely, I would love coming here again and the service was quick and easy, we were in and out in about 40-50 minutes!

Last night, me and my boyfriend came to the restaurant for date night and nothing disappointed us. I had lovely food best Chinese I’ve had in a while and the service was brilliant smiley and talkative telling us about their favourites. The restaurant was so nice and clean and the food was coming out presentable I really recommend this restaurant

1 star is being generous. Appalling, rude service, stone cold food and not one apology! Whilst we were there 2 tables walked out due to the food and takeaways were being returned.

A very pleasant, if small, restaurant with welcoming staff and a comfortable feel about it. We ordered the set meal for 5 and the food was delicious and portions were good. One annoyance was the 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill, when it isn't mentioned on the menu or website. I questioned the waitress about this and she offered to remove it but, as she had been good at our table, I paid it. I'm 'old school' and prefer to leave a tip, if earned, so service charges, especially those not explained in advance, are an unwelcome discovery.

Ordered takeaway direct from them on 15/02, about £40 worth - food came quite quick however egg was in the rice despite noting on the comments no egg please, called to let them know which they acknowledged their mistake as it didnt print on the ticket for some reason but they could see in the order notes, after saying sorry about that there was a pause and awkward silence where it seemed that was the end of their conversation, i had to interject and query if i would be getting a replacement as i hadnt received what i ordered, lad on the phone had to go check before confirming that we would, fair enough... However rice appeared about 25 mins later again with egg in it again, couldnt be bothered to notify them again as clearly the front of house aren't communicating with the kitchen. For what its worth the food that had no issues was nice but wont be looking to order from them again due to poor customer service, something which is hard to say coming from a Chinese background and always looking to support takeaways and restaurants.

Went there on a Friday evening 7pm and the food was awful, half of it was stone cold, duck had obviously been put back in the microwave to be warmed up again! The service was terrible and I’m not even sure they had served the public before! Couple next to us had their starter and also walked out in disgust. Never will we go there again

We arrived for our meal full of anticipation by what other people had written. To be honest knowing what we know now we have turned around and gone straight back home again. The decor was nice but that was about it, it was freezing cold we were forced to wear our coats all night. They gave us 2 feeble heaters which made no difference at all. The next item on the whinge list is the place was pitch black they brought over a silly little battery powered lamp so we could read the menu which was useless the light on my torch worked better. The food was quite nice to be honest but it was near enough cold before we finished it. The waiting staff which consisted of two males and one female, average age being 21-25 years old the female didn’t have a clue at all, no knowledge of the menu at all and she had to keep asking the males what to do one of which would not stop singing to the inappropiate disco music all night, its a restaurant for gods sake not a night club. There was no one to be seen management/ owner all night, we never saw a person from the orient all night. And to top it all they hid a sneaky little service charge to boot.

After reading the many positive reviews and excited to try their cuisine, my partner and I booked a table here for Valentine’s Night as a special treat. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we had hoped for. From the very start, the service was disappointing. Having dined at various places across BCP, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. Our starter arrived over 30 minutes after our booking time - it was nice, but the wait was a little longer than expected. After finishing, we continued to wait…and wait. It became clear that our mains had never been ordered. Staff neglected to clear our table (there were a lot of staff working too), repeatedly handed us plates of food meant for other diners, and then took them back to serve elsewhere. The lack of organisation and customer service was shocking. After more than an hour, we still hadn’t received our mains, no one had checked on us, and a random bowl of rice (cold and not what we ordered) was the only thing that had arrived at our table. To make matters worse, our table didn’t have a heater like the others, leaving us uncomfortably cold as we sat there, still hungry. At that point, we decided to cut our losses and leave! It was a truly disheartening experience, and despite the positive reviews, I was left disappointed. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I won’t be recommending or returning anytime soon.

Ordered a take away via Deliveroo. This restaurant doesn’t use the delivery tracking on the app and they use their own drivers. It says 35 mins delivery but it was over an hour late. The food was cold and had clearly been sitting on the side for a good while waiting to be collected for delivery. Will never use again

The food was exceptional, so fresh and really good sized portions. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, the restaurant is boutique and I would suggest booking. A great meal thank you

Good food - poor service. I was told my food would with me in half an hour. An hour later when I phoned to see where it was I was told it would be another 20-30 mins! Driver eventually arrived but had no change so I was forced to give a tip, which was not deserved.

The restaurant is a small establishment that also supplies take-away fare (despite being small, the preparation of take-aways kept the kitchen busy). The waiter was friendly, helpful and efficient. There were a good selection of Dim Sum and main courses available. Those chosen were well prepared and tasted excellent. The food was delivered fairly slowly and individually, so as not to overfill the small table. Well worth a try if you are in Bournemouth or Poole; we will be visiting again soon.

Visited the NI Hao resturant with a few friends and was greeted straight away with a available table for us all even on short notice. The service was great very friendly and also the food was amazing, well presented and fresh tasting we all could not fault any of it. I will be Defenetly visiting again.

Went to Ni Hao for dinner as a bit of a Christmas get together my friends and I do every year. We will be going to Ni Hao for our annual get together every year from now on! chic and homely inside and the food and service was amazing. I had the Singapore noodles- best Singapore noodles i've ever had along with a load of other dishes we shared as a group. Had a few cocktails with our dinner that went down very smoothly and is very conveniently walking distance of many busy pubs, which we of course made use of after. The price is great value for such quality food, warm service and atmosphere! thanks for a great evening, Sam

Just been tonight for our Christmas dinner. It surprised me how well the restaurant’s deco is, the food is absolutely amazing. We ordered pork belly, crispy beef , their special satay chicken. They all done it in a very good standard. Excellent customer service, lots of cocktails selections. Highly recommended. Definitely a must try restaurant. Had Christmas party at the restaurant, it was amazing decorating, attention to details . Love the food, best Chinese within 20 miles. I travel a lot and try lots of Chinese restaurants in Euro , this is the best one so far. Love the pork belly, and Bihari special. great customer services all round. Thank you so much for having us. Highly recommended. A must try restaurant if you are in the area. Not sure why there were so many bad reviews. Lucky we are local company, and used them before, otherwise it would be a big missed if just base on the bad reviews . I love their contrail range as well. I has salty dog, and Tom Collins both are amazing. Very nice drink. Definitely worth coming for my next visit.

Utterly appalled with Nihau customer service. I’ve used Nihau so many times over the past year. My partner and I have eaten in the restaurant and never had issues before a recent delivery. I had a metal staple in my food, I bit down on it and chopped my tooth. Deliveroo refunded me directly and contacted Nihau. First of all, the lied to Deliveroo saying they hadn’t been able to contact me and had not heard anything from me. When I provided photos to their email directly, they ignored me. It’s only been today they have responded and the attitude I’ve had from them is appalling. Honestly, I’m shocked by their response and total lack of care.

For the second year, Ni Hao did a big takeaway for 13 people for a family celebration. Complicated order ( we are a fussy family!) arrived on time and all labelled, plus some extras. Delicious food (best I've had outside Soho) and amazing helpful service. Will use again.

Let me start by saying the food was good. Moreover, the man we dealt with over the phone called Sam also had great customer service, was attentive, polite and listened to our situation despite being busy on a Saturday evening. The reason for the lower rating was because all the restaurant could offer was an apology following our order being late twice after innacurate delivery times. We spent most of the hour waiting for the delivery on the uber app or calling the restaurant to get an update because we feared the order had been forgotten. Unfortunately this ruined the experience and meal.

We always order from here but tonight honestly was well below parr. Ordered quarter of duck which was without doubt the smallest portion of crispy duck I have ever received from a restaurant and that incudes Nihao itself. There wasn’t even enough for 3 pancakes. Also avoid the butterfly prawns, 4 prawns for just under £10. Just a shame as everything is tasty but really not value for money.

We arrived at 640 on a Saturday night found our table and were ignored for 20 minutes when the waiter finally decided to take our order he got it wrong and had to be taken again by another member of staff ….after another 30 minutes our drinks arrived then after another 30 minutes our starter arrived which was lovely unfortunately after waiting for another hour for our mains to arrive we left very disappointed seem to only care about takeaways rather than restaurant great food the worst service ever

I truly dont know what to say or where to start from. What an experience. From food quality to incredible atmosphere this place deserves to be nominated for the best Chinese cuisine in town. Good size portions and authentic taste. The host Lady does amazing cocktails too. I would strongly recommend everyone to come and check out this hidden gem. Dont get it delivered, just come and experience the whole thing and dine at the premises

I have eaten at NiHao and had also had takeaway food. It's tiny, clean and personal. They do the best spring rolls I've ever had, hot, and not in any way greasy. They could save a fortune on the beautiful bags a takeaway or delivery comes in as the food speaks for itself and is not expensive.

Delicious food and brilliant service

Such a lovely place. Food is cooked fresh and ample portions of it. We had the sharer for a starter which so tasty. Followed by Kung Po Chicken with loads of cashews and Chilli Prawns with chow mein. We spent most of the evening in there and at no point did we feel rushed. I would throughly recommend 👌

I ended up cancelling my order as it was taking far too long! They don’t even have the decency to answer the phone, just hang up instead. Will not be recommending to anybody I know. AVOID ORDERING FROM THIS PLACE!!!

RESPONSE FROM OWNER BELOW IS ALL FALSE. WE CALLED 25 TIMES, NOT THREE OF FOUR… AS YOU CAN SEE IN PHOTO. She says my husband was kind - he went mad in there and told them to watch out for a bad review which was when he was given the delivery fee back. Laughable attempt from the owner to salvage their reputation which has gone completely down the toilet. We fully intend to tell everyone we can to never eat here. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE AND DO NOT ORDER!! We ordered and were told it would be 30mins. 45 minutes later, we phoned to find out where the food was and were told they’d missed the order and it would be another 30mins. 30 minutes pass and still no food, so we try to phone again and no answer. We tried to phone over 20 times with it ringing and then going to answerphone every time. After waiting 90 minutes for the food and having no ability to speak to the restaurant, my partner drove down to see what was going on and get our food. He was handed the food and headed home. We got it out and the food was cold and the order was incorrect. Surprise surprise, they didn’t answer the phone. Couldn’t face driving down again but bad food and a terrible experience all round. AVOID!!!!

We went last night for our wedding anniversary as we’d driven past numerous times and wanted to try it out. The place is awesome, intimate, great decor and styling, friendly service and the food was out of this world. They run takeaway and restaurant service so there can be a wait for food but if you’re not in a rush and can just sit and soak it all up it’s well worth the wait! Thanks for having us and we’ll definitely be back…

We just ordered a takeaway from Ni Hao. The food was delivered promptly, hot and delicious. I had the beef chow mein and it was the best I've ever had. Plenty of beef and so tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to order again and highly recommend. I'll certainly be having this again. Best takeaway ever!!!

Wow, not from the area and just wow. Portion size was good for the price. The server, waitress was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. We went in on Wednesday and was flying blind but the place looked good from the outside. When we are back that way we will definitely go back. Great food is hard to find and both great food and great service is even harder. Thank you all. Think the server was a girl dark hair savana I think her name was. Thank you for being so nice. We will be back we promise!

Ordered takeaway for collection. Time given 20 mins, actual time 65 mins so sat and waited for 45 mins for order being repeatedly told it would be ready in 5 mins. Food very average and expensive, 4 small butterfly prawns for over £9!

Great food, but let down by the delivery service. The food was meant to take 45 minutes, but after numerous phone calls they eventually delivered it 2.5 hours later, really disappointing.

Terrible Delivery Times & Poor Customer Service I’ve ordered from here often, but lately, the service has been getting worse. Two weeks ago, I waited an hour and a half for my food, and tonight it’s been over two hours. I called twice to check on my order and was told it had "just left" both times. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they were "too busy." No updates, no apologies—just bad service. It's really frustrating, especially since I’ve been a regular customer.

Actually can believe how bad the service has got with the delivery times we placed an order at 17:15 this evening it’s 7:30 and still no order. Called twice we were told once that it had gone to the wrong address and it was on its way .. called half an hour later and they said it was just leaving. I asked to speak to a manager but was told they were to busy… it’s disappointing when local business do not value customer loyalty. Shame on us for ordering again as it took over an hour and a half last time which is why this order was discounted.

Came here with my daughter and had a great time. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the food was absolutely delicious. The only problem was choosing what to have!

After living for 28 years in Taiwan, it was a wonderful surprise to find such delicious authentic Chinese food that uses high quality ingredients in our locality. We will be back very soon to try some new dishes and enjoy some of the same ones we had on this first visit, including the speciality aubergine, the Peking style spare ribs, and the awesome tofu in black bean sauce, among others.

Having lived in both Shanghai and Hong Kong for several years, this was a truly authentic experience. The quality was exceptional, well presented, relaxed friendly service, fresh ingredients. Will definitely be going back. Thank you, so happy to find such quality in Ashley Cross!

We ordered our dinner tonight, was told will be delivered at 20:25,waited waited waited, food didn't arrive, tried calling, no one was answering, then we we told it will be with you in 5mins, 5mins went, then we rang again, we were told in 8mins, eventually food arrived at 21:20!! Our 1st Delivery service was just rubbish, sorry!! Food is absolutely nice next time will pick up or eat in!

Order a duck fried rice and sweet sour chicken buy phone,when is finish take my order straight away drop the phone not ask me in the name or how much will cost me .Food test disgusting dry rice chicken and duck , in a duck fried rice around the 4 teeny mini piece of duck.Everything I can say nice about this takeaway you receive a nice thermal package with your order.

I had an average experience at best with a take away from here about a month ago. My criticisms were met with with nothing but professionalism. Tonight I ordered exactly the same food which was delivered as promised. The curry sauce was the best I’ve ever had from a Chinese takeaway and there was this time a large pot of it. The sweet and sour balls and sauce were so much better, delicious. We will have to agree to disagree on the fried rice. It was not for me but with the larger portion of curry sauce was excellent. Thank you Bingnan for honouring your promise and I will now definitely recommend you and return.

Absolutely fantastic hidden gem that we found by good fortune. Started with the duck pancakes which a 1/2 easily fed of us and was very generous with the duck. They also gave us extra hoisin sauce. All of the other dishes with delicious and generously portioned

Second time, small but very stylish, spare ribs to die for, we both had curry which was delicious, service was good, but very busy with takeaways, telephone orders and sitters , the staff were very busy could have been better staffed, in all restaurants nowadays who have the priority, some times service can slip

A great little restaurant with excellent service, a wonderful drinks menu and a modern, arty ambiance - We’ll definitely be back!

We did not book; were shown to a table in the window. Good spot to ‘people watch’ on Commercial Road. Noted that the chopsticks placed on table sets on the other tables all had gold trimmed fat ends, ours did not; perhaps differential for those who booked a table reservation…. Anyway, our food was Excellent. Mains of Kung Po Pork and the Special Chow Mein. Very good and full of good things and tastes. Had a bottle of red with our meal. A surprise on receiving the bill; an ‘obligatory’ service charge of 12.5%! I discussed this with the duty manager; said the Owner set this and it can’t be overwritten. Said it used to be 20%!. I noted that the takeout meal prices were generally £2 discount on the dine-in prices. No justification for arbitrarily adding 12.5%. Otherwise I would gave given 5/5 rating.

Booked for four of us on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant is beautifully laid out and we loved the place settings. I'd been advised to share some mains across the table rather than think "one each": and this was apt advice. We had chicken balls, prawn toast and the best duck spring rolls you could imagine to start. Then tried the kung po pork, beef (unsure which), chicken chow mein and egg fried rice. We loved every bite. The cocktails had a good report, and the ginger beer was lovely and spicy. We really enjoyed catching up in such a nice environment too. Massive thanks to Bingnan for getting us booked in.

Had a really lovely meal, everything we ordered was fresh. It was also very affordable will definitely be returning. The pork dumplings especially good!

We ordered a delivery to our hotel before returning to Jersey tomorrow and, quite simply, WOW! Hands down the best Chinese food we’ve had in years and the chilli beef was better than Hakkasan. Perfect duck and pancakes. The egg fried rice looked pale but packs such a delicious flavour punch and the sweet and sour pork had such a lovely smoky flavour from the wok, so you know it’s beautifully fresh. If you’re in Poole don’t miss out on this gem! Thank you Nihao 🙌🏼

The best Chinese in Dorset! And better than London!! We have had two takeaways from here, 4 months apart. We are fussy about Chinese so started our fist delivery with sweet and sour chicken, spring rolls etc and it was divine!Last night we ordered more and it was all absolutely beautiful! Nothing was fatty or fake, nothing made us bloated….it was all just beautiful, clean Chinese food! The egg fried rice and satay chicken were the best I’ve ever tasted! Also, the cost actually reflects the quality of the food….hence we will only order from here. The service is also beyond 5*…the staff can’t do enough to help you. Absolutely 5 stars….and we will be in the restaurant soon!

Honestly the best Chinese takeaway I've had in ages, the flavours were beautiful and you you can really tell they don't use msg, it just tastes so much fresher. After ordering our takeaway from here tonight me and my family have decided to try out the restaurant for my birthday next month.

Sorry, not impressed at the prices charged. Some items arrived cold. Sate chicken was very disappointing but crispy beef in chilli was very good. Overall not good value for money.

Honestly the best Chinese restaurant and take away around! The price you are paying is for FRESH food! The chow main and the chicken wings and Singapore noodles are AMAZING! The staff go above and beyond to help you. This is defo a place you need to come visit!

So glad we called in, we were looking for takeaway on the way home from a few drinks and the place (while small) was beautifully decorated and very welcoming. Little touches like the hand painted wall or the Panda chop stick holders all added to the fact that they'd thought it through. House Special Show Mein for me...hot, fresh and very well portioned. Owner and staff were both friendly and chatty. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Awful food and awful atmosphere, I went there last week and was served by the “owner” who was just so rude and had a massive ego for no reason! She was also rude to her staff you can tell she treats them awfully! There’s lots of other reviews saying this and I can definitely see it. I didn’t even tip as the owner takes all the employees tips!! Just disgusting.

Delicious food, good size portions (doggy bags were needed!) Very welcoming staff. Although she could have used an extra pair of hands once the small restaurant filled. Lovely atmosphere, enjoyed the background music. Would recommend.

Came here whilst on holiday in Sandford. Good food, reasonable portions and not too expensive. Well worth a visit ! Nicely decorated/ smart and modern, smallish and the staff are very welcoming, we ate in and will return next time we are in the area !
