Good food, plenty of choice, good coffee, friendly service, great prices.

We looked online for a place for lunch in Darwen after a walk and came up with here. Friendly staff, quick service, everyone enjoyed what they had. Great little place, prices reasonable, would definitely return.

Ordered a buffet today for a work event it was amazing. Everything was fresh and tasty 😋. Great customer service and there was plenty of food. Will defiantly use again.

My mum has asked me to write a review as she was so happy with her afternoon tea at Zest. She has to have gluten free food due to having coeliac disease and we’ve been to a few afternoon teas and she’s not had many options/it’s very basic. However, we booked on to the Halloween special afternoon tea at Zest to take my son and asked for one of them to be gluten free. They went above and beyond to make her afternoon tea as good as ours. She had sandwiches, a panini, a quiche, chips and a selection of desserts - all were delicious. My afternoon tea was also great and my son loved his with all the Halloween goodies. Thank you so much. xx

Not bad food if you have an hour to wait. Had to leave my order and go back to work at 10.45 with no breakfast plus charged £5.50 and when I received my money back at dinner time it was £4.50. She lost £25 a week from me alone just in that that mistake.

Went for a Halloween themed afternoon tea, kids loved it and the venue looked nice with another Halloween decorations! Not only did the offer kids Halloween tea but for adults too...yummy!

I love suprises and Zest is one of them. I had seen the place from the road but never bothered trying it out. That has been my mistake having lived in the town for more than 4 years. The food in here is excellent, not flashy but good ingredients prepared and served wonderfully. The service is quick and friendly, from now on I will be a regular,

Zest is a delightful cafe lounge, it is small and only has several inside tables but they are well spaced and pleasantly furnished. There are a few table outside on the pavement frontage to use on a an appropriate weather day. The menu is simple but the food is freshly made, I called in for a takeaway breakfast sandwich, it was cooked to perfection and consisted of a large plate sized 'bap' filled with 2 eggs 2 sausages 2 rashers of bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes all fresh and not microwaved and excellent value at £4-50. This cafe is an honest little gem in a town that has more than its share of eateries and take aways.

Called here today halfway though a mountain bike ride with a mate and sat outside. The service was very quick, the ladies serving were both super friendly and the full English was fantastic. All for a reasonable price too. Will definitely be calling again to dive back in to the delights of Darwen's Zest. Thanks! 👍🏻😁

We had left Dolly's Tea Rooms across the road as we were very disappointed in them (see review that I left!) We only noticed Zest Café Lounge as we were driving away, and decided to call in. How lovely! Very attentive waitresses and good snack-type menu choices. The table was cleaned as soon as we sat down - although we were told it had been cleaned already. Didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food. Everything was very fresh, and really tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed eating at this friendly little cafe. Well definitely be back!

Open for fab takeaway festive afternoon tea yesterday..... it was excellent, lovely little touches, well presented, and at extremely short notice, too!!

Ordered a takeaway lunch today from here for the first time and it was amazing!! We had one of the cheese boxes and one of the deli boxes and everything in them was delicious. You get so much in them we struggled to finish!! Our 6 year old daughter was thrilled with her kids takeaway afternoon tea too!! The milkshakes were to die for and would highly recommend the biscoff one. We will definitely be ordering again or going for eat in. Why have we not found this little gem earlier??!!

We have visited Zest on many occasions and cannot fault it, from the breakfast menu to steak and cocktails. lovely to sit outside with a drink in the sun or inside having a themed afternoon tea. Would highly recommend.

Great service, the woman apologised that there would be a bit of a wait as they were a staff member down; however we weren’t bothered but it’s nice to be told so we knew what to expect. The afternoon lunch was amazing quality and such a good price! Will definitely be back.

Just before Christmas myself and husband visited here and were extremely impressed. We had the special Christmas afternoon tea and it was wonderful. Plenty of variety. Soup, special Christmas sausage roll. Sandwiches and a hot panini. Cake and mince pie a little extra sweet and coffee. Plus a glass of Prosecco. All lovely.

We went yesterday and had the salt and pepper platter, wow.. It were amazing, I deffinetly recommend this place👌

Just had an amazing takeaway from Zest.. Sod the Chinese takeaway, just ordered salt and peper chicken and an absolute test sensation! Very accommodating and friendly staff and the owner Pip can't do enough for you. Enjoy a quick glass of wine while you wait in a welcoming envirnoment. 5** Happy customer

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago with the kids and grandparents. They had a fab offer on 2 roast dinners for £10 and kids ate for £1. The service was great and even my fussy kids enjoyed their food.

Bobbed in for a lunch butty. Opted for the hot beef on ‘crusty’ baguette with onions, mushrooms and gravy. It was produced quickly and was tasty, although needed to add my own horseradish sauce (I wasn’t asked whether I wanted any mustard or horseradish). The baguette wasn’t crispy, but overall it tasted very good.

4 of us booked a table after commenting on a Zest Facebook post, when we arrived the waitress gave us a warm welcome & made reference to our FB conversation advising the ‘dirty Shirl’ cocktails we’d mentioned were 2 for £9. Cocktails were lovely but the real show stopper was the food... plenty of choice and fantastic prices. It was a Mexican evening so I had the special, loaded nachos with jalapeños, chicken fajitas, coleslaw, salad, spicy rice & garlic bread. All freshly cooked ~ for just £14!!! It was absolutely delicious, everyone loved their meals and had a great evening. Well done guys!!! Fab little restaurant which I’d highly recommend.

Well this is the place to go if you like your breakfast Me and my other half go here on a regular basis we are greeted with a warm welcome from lisa every time we go it's nice to have a beer in the morning with good food all the staff that work there are happy and chatty which makes me and the other half chilled keep up the good work will be back very soon

Visited Zest today for breakfast/lunch lovely friendly staff,amazing food, they are vegetarian options and if you have any dietary requirements they are so good at offering you alternatives or telling you what you can eat off the menu. I am lactose intolerant and they are always really good with me, I take my own milk and they make me a latte it’s brilliant and somewhere we enjoy eating without me worrying if I’m going to get the right things to eat. It is such a lovely little place in Darwin there is a car park, everything is on one level so no stairs or steps and they are open in the evening as well. This is so worth a visit they cater for children as well. All I would say is sometimes it does get busy especially during school holidays so we ring before to reserve a table. Absolutely lovely visit today as always 👍🏻💕💕😋

We often vist here on a Friday lunch with two elderly ladies. The food is lovely and tasty.I especially love the spicy chicken wrap which is served with a delicious side salad.My husband particularly likes the homemade cheese and onion pie. The two elderly ladies enjoy the various other lighter meals.It is good value for money and you don't have issues of being turned away by them already having allocated tables to reserved customers who are no where to be seen compared to the other cafes in the close proximity.Well done and see you soon.

Not really a lounge. Just a cafe. Cheap furniture. Food was yum but average but not somewere to go as a place to eat. Eat if passing.

We visited for lunch, originally heading for dolly’s tea rooms but as it was closed we thought we would give Zest a try.

Zest is a lovely little cafe in Darwen. The staff were fantastic and the buffet was equally as good. They catered for 20+ people easily, including vegetarians which was great. Will be back to try the menu soon!

Went to a 40th birthday party attended by 18 people . The food was a curry buffet , chicken and vegetarian with side dishes .

Found hair in my food which was instantly stomach turning and overall the the food was rushed half burnt half undercooked .... Going else where from now on .

The service is great the cocktails are to die for. The food comes freshly cooked . There’s a great choice and the staff are friendly and lovely. It’s modern well decorated and on trend. This is a great place to eat . The foods been delicious every time I’ve been but those cocktails are Devine as are the desserts . I shall definitely be going there again

I have really mixed reviews about it here. Te food is really nice - I had a panini which was really tasty and my son had the kids half term afternoon tea which was served with lots of goodies. The prices are reasonable and quality of food fresh.

Not normally one to write reviews, but after being half an hour late leaving for the airport, and having waited for so long I couldn't not!!Arrived at 5 past 10 for breakfast thinking we would be out by about 10 to 11 as we needed to leave for the airport at 11. Firstly we were ignored by the waitress, who proceeded to serve a table who arrived after us.When I went to the counter to order I was told to take a seat she would be over in a second. 10 minutes later she arrived. We placed our order and waited. The table who arrived after us had been served very quickly so we weren't worried. But our food did not arrive. People coming in for take away were being served and getting their food and going. We asked if our food was on its way and were told it was on and should be about 5 minutes. 10 minutes later it finally arrived. Well half of it did. The other half took a further 5 minutes, so clearly our order had been ignored while others were served. When my food did finally arrive at 5 past 11 (5 minutes after our drinks had been finished) it was not the best. Eggs benedict served on a barm cake not a muffin, with greasy bacon and eggs with undercooked whites. The others at the table said that their food was good. Clearly you need to be known by the staff to get served here given others were in and had eaten and left before we got our food while the staff had lovely chats with them so we will not be returning and we would not recommend it.

Bit of a hidden gem on a parade of shops on surrounded by flats. It’s food and service is great. We we went on Tapas night I had the calamari which was fresh and tasty, the meatballs were delicious and the prawns were really good in some kind of chilli sauce. My friends had the hanging kebabs that came with potato wedges. The whole thing was great value for money. If you ever visit Darwen find this place it does breakfasts too.

Had an afternoon tea for my granddaughter's 21st. Food good but unfortunately didn't like one filling of the sandwiches.Mentioned it to the lady and immediately was offered any different filling we wanted. Was impressed! The afternoon tea is different to what we've had in other places & we really enjoyed it. Couldn't eat it all so they boxed it up for us to take home, all for £12.50 a head incl coffee or tea,

Breakfast. Porched eggs wasn't cooked. They fell apart when you touched we fork. Toast was burnt and soggy. Tea and coffee were very tasty though. Won't do breakfast again

Went for lunch expecting only sandwiches etc but there was a specials board with hot lunches. We had cottage pie and meat and potato pie both home made.

Called in for lunch with my daughter. She'd bought a takeaway sausage butty from there before and said they were nice butcher's ones. We were pleased to learn you can order breakfast any time so we both had a full English. There was loads, and the bacon and sausage were lovely.

I have visited Zest a few times mainly for cocktails which are extremely good value as they have 2 for deals. I have also visited for breakfast, I had a breakfast sandwich and my sister had a full breakfast. They were really nice and very filling. They were made fresh to order. I have always found the staff quite friendly but it can take a minute or two to get their attention and get served.

This place is excellent! Food is delicious and the staff bend over backwards. Breakfast is a must as i can have syn free and my hubby enjoys large or small breakfast. They even do slimming world afternoon tea as well as a normal one to die for.

This isn't in the best of locations, but the food is good, the staff are friendly and attentive and the cocktails are lovely and cheap. Starting at £6 for two and also £7 for two. Not £6 each which is the usual.

Often come here for breakfast before an early kick off football match. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Some of our group are very picky and wanted things swapping in the full English which was no problem for the staff. I often nip in and get takeaways or a quick bite while out working and it never fails to deliver.
