Fine starter selection, the Prawn Puri was superb, and not oily. The main course Tandoori mix grill once again was excellent, accompanied with fresh Nan Bread , good drinks menu, nice friendly atmosphere.

I had the steak which was expensive but nice. My husband had the burger which was very tasty and the cheesy fries were very delicious and nicely presented. The staff were very pleasant. The cheeseboard however at £9 is grossly overpriced with only 3 small slivers of cheese and 5 crackers.

Stayed over and didn't want to travel to eat so decided to give the hotel restaurant a try. It was nicely set out with comfy booths and leather chairs/ sofas. Relaxed atmosphere. It was a little tired in places too. My husband ordered a burger and I had steak and ale pie. He said his burger and chips were amazing. Mine was ok for hotel food nothing to rave about. It was expensive for what it was,but you expect that as it's s captive audience. Drinks were also expensive, cheapest bottle of wine was £20! our whole bill came to £40 for a pint, large glass of wine.

The bar is busy with hotel guests being informed to eat here, found the place welcoming and menu with a choice of basic food fish and chips, steaks, burgers or pizza. My choice Fish and chips followed by chocolate brownie and ice cream. Tables have no numbers so don’t know how the staff remember who ordered what but wasn’t any problem to them when I visited, staff were very friendly and charming Enjoyed my meal and a few drinks just people watching and from everyone’s reaction all meals got the thumbs up

We purchased an evening meal with our stay and were given the option of either restaurant, we opted for the less formal option of the Zest Bar The menu choice is limited but still a wide range of options. Service was quick however to be fair it was quiet. Starters we hade were good and portion size was good (pork belly bites & halloumi and pesto) main were also very good (zest burger & chicken and leek pie) the dessert was perfect (sticky toffee pudding) Overall we had no complaints but if you want more choice I can see why a limited menu maybe disappointing to some. If it had not been included in cost of the stay I would probably grumble at the cost and the review may be 4 star.

I ate in this restaurant because I was staying at the hotel for business so it was just convenient. The service is not very responsive. They have a decent selection including an “award winning pie”. There is a full bar in this restaurant with a good amount of seating.

Booked to go with my friend for a spa day which was lovely really friendly ladies and nice treatments. Decided to go for lunch in the ‘Vest bar’ first - food was nice but I asked for some vinegar and was brought the vinegar which had 3 small dead flies at the bottom. Luckily I noticed before using this but told the waiter about it when he collected our plates. Only received an awkward sorry and laugh... really not impressed wouldn’t expect to be given that anywhere.. disgraceful!

Hotel bar and restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. The menu choice is very limited for vegetarians, if eating for more than one evening it would be a bit repetitive.

We called into the zest bar for a drink and a bite to eat after perusing the menu did not really fancy any thing so opted elsewhere with more CHOICE to our taste but before we left we could murder a pot of tea no problem when we orderd minutes later we were informed not pots of tea available only a cup made in the back when it arrived it was very weak so as they was no one around at the time my fiancee decide not to make a fuss as we were leaving i went to pay the chap behind the bar with a rather smug grin on his face said £3.20 well i said rather a poor attempt at making tea and to charge that you must be joking we will chalk this one experience sonny and call it a draw bar very quiet menu under par im afraid pardon the punn and well over priced Marriott's don't rate them at all

I stayed at the Hollins Hall hotel for a weekend break with my other half, and on the Saturday evening we ate in the Zest lounge bar / restaurant. The surroundings were pleasant and the lounge chairs were comfortable for relaxing and chatting.I chose the Marriott burger and hand cut chips. The burger was huge and the chips were delicious, and good value for money considering the quality. The service provided by the young female member of staff was superb - polite, attentive and professional - a real credit to the hotel. Overall, a nice venue for a bar meal.

Bar service was very good. On a visit the following day the barman remembered the wine we'd had the previous visit the preceding day and asked if we'd like it again - now that's pretty good considering how popular the bar was! We did use it again so, yes, recommended. Our snacks were also tasty.

I stayed at the hotel for the week whilst on a course. I decided not to venture too far so decided to sample the menu in the Zest bar. As I ate in there all week it was interesting to see how the food fared. On arrival on the first night, the staff were very on the ball, welcoming and clearly explaining the specials. Once I ordered my meal a complimentary dish of nachos and salsa was bought to the table which I thought was a nice touch. I had the pesto chicken and linguine which was delicious. Complimented by the house salad and a glass of very reasonable house red wine. The second night I chose the salmon sandwich - oh my goodness it was huge - excellent value for money and tasted lovely. The accompanying home made crisps were delicious. I had ordered a side order of chips which were also very nice but I couldn't finish it. On the wed I ordered the vegetarian option of mushroom pasta - this was the most disappointing meal of the week - despite the cheese topping it, I was relieved to have ordered the slaw as it was about the only tasty part of the meal. All in all the food was good and cost wise was what I would expect to pay when eating in a hotel. It did tend to get busier later in the evening and if you want a quiet meal it is probably advisable to eat early or somewhere else.

We ate dinner and lunch at this restaurant. It does get very busy in the evenings especially with golfers. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and we did not have to wait too long to get our food. For a hotel restaurant the prices were very reasonable. Also you an use Gourmet Society cards. When busy it is very noisy so don't go here if you want a romantic dinner.

Food expensive for what it was. Most of the appetiser options were deep fried and overcooked. Pork belly bites were disappointing. One of our steaks was overcooked but was quickly replaced. Chicken pesto pasta was good. Staff were friendly and allowed us to reserve a corner as there were 14 of us. Ok for a snack but limited menu

This is the only dining option of an evening in the Marriott Hollins Hill. It is a fairly average American-style restaurant with the usual high-cholesterol UK food choices. It is not that good and the fact that it is attached to a health club and given a springy name only adds to the deception.

Staying at the Hollins Hall Hotel my girlfriend and I enjoyed a dinner for two at Zest on a Saturday evening. When we arrived the restaurant it was quiet, a result of the overly critical reviews below I'm sure, but as the evening went by several other guests arrived improving the atmosphere. Our food, reasonably priced between £11 - £15 arrived relatively quickly and was hot and fresh. The staff are indeed excellent - friendly and extremely helpful. We were looking for a quiet, relaxing dinner and that's exactly what we got. If we were staying at the hotel we wouldn't hesitate to visit Zest again.

A group of us stay at the Marriott Hotel every week and have done for months; we have now given up on the Zest restaurant due to extremely poor quality food, and a chef who obviously is mute when listening to customer complaints. I've sent back many dishes and all I can say is the person cooking has no idea! The last time I was in there I sent back my dish, and was told by the server it was normal for that dish to go back! and then my colleague sent back his lamb and said he asked for it to be medium ... chef then said it was, but one end was burnt, the middle over cooked and the end undercook; chef said it was because the meat was a wedge and thin one side thick the other! How stupid is that … he was given the food back as is!They have no idea on what they re doing and as for cost, the prices are ridiculous, very expensive for low quality microwave food that has come direct from the freezer.Bar staff are good though, but are embarrassed as they have to serve up the low quality food and listen to customers complain. The Marriott management seriously needs to do something and sort that place out.Zero out of ten for food!

My colleagues and I stay at the Marriott on a regular basis, we've eaten here a few times, the food is Asda/Morrison supermarket cafe standard. If you had paid £4.95 for a main course you wouldn't complain, the fact is that it's £14 - £18 a head. We've complained and fed back several times but the managerment are not interested. Bar staff are very nice though. Saw a regular tonight getting a pizza dropped off, says it all really. Conclusion - avoid, very poor.

We have enjoyed Sunday lunches here in the past but these have now been relocated to the 2nd floor Zest reastaurant which is basically a McDonalds with ridiculous prices. £14 for a burnt pizza missing three of the basic components? Returned and still charged for:? £12 for a burger which left a member of our party LESS impressed than a McDonalds happpy meal - he is 17! This restaurant is a complete rip off, staffed by people obviously without any management direction and it shows in the customer experience.
