The Lister's Arms in Bradford

One star is too much!! Not allowed to use the word c-r-a-p, but their food is terrible. See the so called ultimate burger for £11.00 plus incl a drink (drink was ok) photo. Supposed to be served with lettuce, tomato, dill and burger sauce. Lettuce as shown in the photo, two scrag ends of tomato, no dill, onion, burger sauce. 12 chips and 4 so called onion rings. When I complained there shrugged their shoulder and said "that's how it comes"

Always a good time at Wetherspoons went there for tea,food was good and decent sized portions. You can have either alcoholic drink or a soft drink included with your meal cheap and cheerful.

Food ok but lukewarm. Felt like it had been sitting around for 5 mins before it was served. Basic.

i am a regular here and this is always a clean and consistent wetherspoons, great servers for good value food and drinks, and today was another perfect hospitality experience

No Abbott yet again, only 1 staff member on a Saturday at the bar.

Central location and car park round the corner. The Spoons offering is unpretentious and very fair. Pizzas and grills well prepared. Breakfasts very popular. Zana red wine is less than half the cost in posh nosh place, and just as drinkable. Fast delivery at peak times. Ideal for children. Can be a bit hot and sweaty when busy, and table clearance could improve. Bit of outdoor space. Overall excellent value, especially in Ilkley. The Wetherspoons formula is a work of genius .

Manager was rude and very unprofessional. Severely disappointed, and would recommend avoiding, and instead opting for some much better pubs around Ilkley.

I really love this place. Smaller than most weatherspoons, giving it a much cosier atmosphere. The staff are great, professional and friendly. The food is good too, especially the steak! The chefs here do a super job of getting the steak exactly how I like it!!! 👍

I recently visited Ilkley and I called into the Lister Arms for a couple of pints and an evening meal on two consecutive evenings. I had the mixed grill which was OK and a curry on the second night which was nothing special and struggled to be average. The Lister Arms is certainly one of the better Wetherspoons pubs in terms of cleanliness, atmosphere, service and clientele. The food and drink is still reasonably priced however the food is only of average pub quality. The toilets are clean, convenient and can be found without following one's nose.

We were taken to lunch by friends and we were really impressed. Food and prices were excellent. We will now try our local Wetherspoons and hope its as good.

The food isn't good at all. A chef who can't cook eggs? My eggs were in a triangle shape and were horribly over cooked. Like they had been in a tray under the lights for ages and then sliced. Two bits of tomato mush and a greasy mushroom didn't help. My partners eggs benedict were rock solid. All this plus no coffee available. Won't be in a rush to come back.

Smallish, busy spoons. Not many free tables and those that weren't taken were stacked high with dirty crockery and glasses. When we did get seated app service was quick and food the expected standard

Lovely clean establishment. Service using the app was very efficently quick. We only called for a drink. However, the food being served at the table looked very nice.

Food came very soon after order and a small fish and chips and the fish came put smaller than my hand and I have small hand. I carry on eating and find hair in my curry sauce.

Its weatherspoons 3 stars is good for what you get and the price you pay. Ordered food, which they seem to have forgotten about. I addressed the matter with a member of staff. they rectified the problem with my main and a complementary dessert for me and my partner.

Below is my previous review from last year. Unfortunately things have changed, food was cold, half was missing, staff were rude, dismissive and miserable, and even the pint was a clear inch and a half missing. The only saving grace was the steak was still cooked correctly. ..... Good god, the great unicorn, the golden fleece, the Wetherspoons that know how to cook a steak correctly without setting off the fire alarm. This place is such a rarity that I had to list it this way. I would absolutely recommend this place.

We cannot praise the staff enough on our visit today . Jed was so friendly and efficient , he could not do enough to make sure we had a great family meal out . 15 of us in total all more than happy with every meal . Even provided plates and spoons to eat our own birthday cake . Skipton is our nearest Wetherspoons but we always travel further to ilkley . Today proved yet again why we do . The bar staff and Emmy who made this possible were all fantastic . Thank you all ,,, sorry we will be back .

A pleasant visit to a Spoons that l use to visit regularly a few years ago.Better,friendly and more efficient service at the bar than I remember. Pity the self service machines (both) ran out of coffee and milk at the same time! I was on ale but my partner was miffed (designated driver).

Saturday afternoon 5.30pm. Tables covered in uncollected dirty food utensils,cutlery,plates and glasses .No one collecting. Menus removed from tables when we went in. Flattest pint I've ever had. Walked out!

Place has hit an all time low with present management(unfortunate looking fellow bald glasses petulant attitude)terrible service and awful attitude Wetherspoons recruitment process needs seriously overhauling if this is the best they can do!expect more complaints about this joker

Visited today for breakfast with my partner. Both breakfast orders were served with error… additional egg missing and no sausages served with large breakfast. Additional order of black pudding arrived but was cremated and almost inedible. Very shocked and disappointed this is accepted in Ilkley. Staff tried to resolve whilst breakfast went cold. Terrible overall.

Now I don't expect Michelin starred food in a wetherspoons, but this was terrible, there were 6 people in this big pub and myself and my wife were the only ones who had food. Both our meals were dried out, cold rice, majority of it was unedible and disgusting, waitress never asked us about the full plates she was taking away, completely disinterested, no excuse for this, zero customer service. I'd say you get what you pay for but no one deserves to be srved this muck,, head office will recieve this same review,

The usual Spoons menu at reasonable prices which include a drink. Plenty of choice including veggie options. Promptly served and piping hot.

The bar staff and floor staff were absolutely excellent, the food was hot and we even got a member of staff asking if our food was alright, I actually asked for Manager to commend him on the staff

We come quite often with our clients who have learning disabilities.They couldn't be more helpful and always make us feel so welcome. Food is always good too

The manager with the specs was absolutely useless and claimed that giving my drinks to the people next to us was “my (authors) problem and not mine (the managers) ” however em and (i hope i’m not butchering the spelling) maganu were able to resolve the issue quickly (we had been waiting an hour and a half for 2 vodka and cokes)

I find it hard to knock this place, always quite a few in, but big enough to cope with a group of us (sometimes 12 or 15 of us) without much difficulty. Food is not bad, fills a hole and certainly cant be knocked for the price.

Great historic pub, now run by Wetherspoons. You know, it's a Wetherspoons, you know what you are going to get. It's good value for what you get. Just don't go expecting Michelin starred food. Relaxed, fun, good for kids.

Deleted my earlier review, Abbot on and in form. Helped me wash down a all day brunch for less than £7. Shame it's treated as a kindergarten by some.

Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience. Tasteless food... the grill chicken burger felt like a boiled chicken burger. had a portion of chicken wings which was stinking. one of worst food experience in a pub. Unfriendly staff.

Superb.One if the best Spoons I have been in.Ordered via App to avoid queuing. Ice cold drinks arrived in no time and delicious meals shortly after.Follow up drink likewise. Staff were great and for 6pm on a winter Tuesday atmosphere was good.

It's Wetherspoons. You should know what to expect. For the money an adequate quantity of adequate food with quick service then back to doing what you were doing. It'll do for me.

Tables very close together and haphazardly set out, some left for a long time before being cleaned. Ordered boneless chicken basket which INCLUDES coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Except there was no coleslaw. Gave up trying to attract attention of waitress who was stood near the serving hatch and walked over and told her of the omission. A minute later she came over to my table and said abruptly "We've no coleslaw, sorry" and turned and walked away. So rude. No offer of a replacement item. Won't bother visiting this place again,

Sausage sandwich cold with no butter on bread My wife had American breakfast said it was good

Popped in here on a Sunday evening for dinner. It was well presented and organised. We had veggie sausage and mash and a pasta dish, followed by pancakes and apple crumble. Food was served quickly, it was hot and tasty. Beer was good too. It was clean and had a decent atmosphere, all staff were friendly and efficient.

My wife has Food Poisoning; being sick stomach cramps a high temperature feeling generally unwell – such as having aches and chills. She had the steak on 14/09/2023 at 8:00pm. This has been reported to Bradford Council Food Standards Agency

Hash browns are over baked and hard to cut never mind eat 😟 Bacon, Sausage perfect. Eggs over cooked. Toast perfect. Service fast.

Disappointed to order food but to be told 20 minutes later what I'd ordered wasn't available, to be fair my next choice was promptly brought to the table but my second choice worked out cheaper, asked if I'd be refunded the outstanding amount and was told it would be sorted, 30 minutes later no comeback and a train to catch so a few pound out of pocket, not a great deal but unprofessional in my eyes. Food was good, drinks good but to take 20 minutes to realise and get back to me an order was unavailable and to not get back to refund for the overpayment was really poor for me personally, no communication between kitchen and bar staff from what I gather, however one lad working the bar with a disability was brilliant, had good banter with him and the lad was working his socks off so no complaints with that lad whatsoever, an employee they should be proud of

As a result of eating at this pub, I ended up in A&E after a casual approach by staff to dealing with unfamiliar allergies. I now advise friends and family to avoid eating here. Customer service following this event was horrendous with an embarrassingly incoherent copy and paste email being sent to me directing me to their solicitors before they even attempted to deal with the obvious issue. Truly awful experience and one to avoid.

Please read all my reviews and know that this is a genuine review of Ilkley Wetherspoons. The visit here resulted in me being taken by ambulance paramedics to A&E in Airedale. This was as a direct result of cross contamination of allergens due to lack of allergy awareness by staff on duty at the time and the staff thinking that allergies are funny. In writing of this to the management, I received an incoherent response basically directing me to their solicitors. At no point did management show any concern for my wellbeing, or genuine remorse for extremely poor hygiene practices. The letter I received which I am happy to share was cut and pasted from other complaint letters! IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES, INTOLERANCES OR HAVE COELIAC DISEASE, I would strongly advise you to avoid eating here. Fortunately, other places offer exceptional allergy awareness and amazing service and you can read of these places in my other reviews (most of which are 5*). I hope other people who have had a poor response from this place take the courage to speak out.

Just come from having breakfast at the Lister Arms, at the cost of food you are lead to not expect amazing quality but not only was the food dismal but so was the service. The left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. We ordered a traditional breakfast and eggs benedict with a side of mushrooms and tomatoes and a coffee each. As I was getting myself and my husband a coffee I noticed the cutlery to the side of the coffee machines so I helped myself only to have the server later bring me some and roll their eyes at us when they saw we already had it. Not long after waiting for our food we were told that we couldn't have poached eggs with the eggs benedict due to them not having any poached eggs but we could have fried eggs, obviously we now know that the poached eggs must be delivered that way and not totally preped and poached on site. Due to my husband not wanting fried eggs on eggs benedict he asked if he could swap his meal totally, the young woman serving us had to ask if this was an option, as he was allowed he asked for an American breakfast only to be told he could only have a small one as a swap so we asked if he could have a normal sized one and we would pay the difference, again the server had to ask so she went away to find ourt only to not return with an answer. After 10 minutes of waiting my husband went to the bar to find out what we could do, after explaining to the bar staff what was happening as they didn't have a clue he paid the difference for a normal American breakfast. Now the food arrives with no sides that my husband wanted, when questioned the server explained that they had been added to the traditional breakfast even though they had been ordered as extra sides separately to the breakfast. Now back to the quality of the food, the majority of the traditional breakfast was left on the plate due to it all being slimey and tasting like plastic and the america breakfast wasn't much better with the pancakes being more like hockey pucks. All in all a terrible experience with food and service in a The Lister Arms.

If you are a wheelchair user, do not bother. Dinning tables all crammed in. together Difficult navigating around them without disrupting other diners. Not a nice experience. Also no where to have that casual social drink anymore. Have replaced all the wheelchair friendly tables with those high bar stool tables. Far too high to be able to put your drink down. One of the better Wetherspoons I have visited. Staff really efficient. Quick to serve us at the bar. We then sat down and ordered food from our table using the app. 3 meals with 3 alcoholic drinks for less than £30. Ok food isn't the best you will ever get but it's excellent value. No complaints from me or those with me. Also again good to see staff quickly clearing tables and wiping them clean once people had left.

This has to be one of many wetherspoons pubs in the UK. As soon as you walk in you can tell its a wetherspoons from the decor, the lovely cheap drinks and the carpet. The doors are all made of lovely wood and the tables weren't too sticky. The food was excellent and the prices cannot be grumbled with. The staff were lovely and they even have an app so you can get table service if you so desire. There is also the traditional method of ordering at the bar, should you still wish to do so. The toilets aren't as typically "miles away" as many of the other venues tend to be, with only a medium walk to get there.

The breakfast was only just warm and the pizza burnt round the edge but they tasted ok. The staff aren't very customer focussed and one was quite rude. I usually enjoy weatherspoons but this was the worst one I have visited. I would revisit but not expect too much.

We decided to call in for a meal as we were shopping in Ilkley.My wife suggested I had a steak as it was steak night big mistake.I asked for it medium and it arrived it was medium rare but that wasn’t the problem.It had a lot of sinew and was very tough to eat.So I decided to bring it to the waiter or managers attention.They replaced the steak and the second one was just as bad.I left it in the end had the potato and peas .A member of staff cleared the plate and I said it was tough again and he just grinned and walked off.We eat quite often at Wetherspoons and food is usually good.

The place was nice but unfortunately the chicken that we ordered was tasteless and tough.

Disappointed meal! We had scampi& chips the chips and peas were cold! Staff never came to ask if meal was ok which they fo in most Wetherspoons. When someone finally came to clear our plates-20mins after we had finished we said we had not eaten the chips cos they were cold we got a very offhand sorry! Bar staff did offer fresh chips but we had eaten the scampi! Had to have crackers and cheese when we got home. We have had this problem before here time you got it sorted, We eat at Wetherspoons at least once a week and find this is often a problem - is it too much much to ask for food to be hot?

Used spoons before seeing a band in ilkley. We had food and drinks. Staff were good with service. Drinks cheap as ever. Food was good for what you pay. No complaints. Used the app to order food. Big space and nice local pictures references. Would visit again.
