We had the pleasure of using Zen Thai for a wedding meal for 30+ guests. It was beyond everything we had hoped for, the service was seamless and the food is exquisite. Every single detail was perfect and the food is quite extraordinary and presented so beautifully. Every guest was blown away by their meals and the atmosphere. Zen Thai, Pear, Spence and Liam deserve more than 5 stars. Thank you for making a special day so memorable!

For various reasons we have not visited Zen Thai for almost 2 years, we rectified that tonight and were not disappointed. We were welcomed like long lost friends, the service was exceptional and the food was faultless. This must be one of the best restaurants in the area and we definitely hope we don't leave it so long before we return again 😀

We had THE most ‘eye-rollingly’ delicious meal here this evening. I had the prawn Rama Noodles which were just superb and that peanut sauce should be packaged and sold it is so delicious. My wife had the dish which is on a bed of spinach. It was very tasty too and came with Coconut Rice. The portion of prawn crackers was very generous and came as an ideal accompaniment to both dishes. The service was excellent and it was very good value for the dining experience which we enjoyed. This is 5 stars.

Staff really friendly food exceptional great choice of dishes and a choice of different rice's or noodles. Would recommend a visit. Very relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely book to go again.

Absolutely the best Thai food I've had in years the tofu red curry was perfect loved the size and quality of tofu and THE BEST Thai tea ever, absolutely perfect very authentic food, worth the price for sure.

Whilst on a break nearby, we booked into Zen Thai for a family meal. Well, what can I say? It was simply the best Thai food we've ever had, absolutely delicious in fact. Coupled with amazingly attentive service, it's a must visit, if you're in the Cheddar area, please give it a try... You won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be returning ✨✨

What a lovely little restaurant. Was greeted with a very warm welcome. Food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Even had the owner explain how they carved the carrots and radishes which was a lovely touch. Most definitely will be returning.

A lovely experience and incredible Thai food! Very pleasant atmosphere and the staff make you feel welcome, offering great service without being over the top. Recommend booking as we went on a Tuesday and the restaurant was very popular. The food was the best Thai food I’ve had, a great selection and all our meals were flavoursome, using high quality ingredients, and presented to a high standard. We were offered chilli on the side and this didn’t disappoint giving a hell of a kick! Finished off with coconut ice cream and peanuts - the best ice cream I’ve tasted. Highly recommend you give this place a visit!

Lovely food. Food and Drinks expensive for what you get but is of good qaulity and tasty. It is also very cosy and you need to book in advance. Staff were lovely when we visited. Only bottled beer available too as Draft option was not working.

Some dishes were very nice but the duck in the crispy duck salad was extremely dry and the Lemon Chicken was so sweet it was not edible for us. The satay chicken and the Penang curry were great though 👍 We have travelled to Thailand on two occasions and eat Thai food all the time.

Had a lovely meal here & they accepted our dog inside - first time in a Thai restaurant! The 4 person table by the serving area is used for people with dogs - thank you

An excellent restaurant, with high standards of customer care. We hadn't booked, but they very kindly fitted us in within 20 minutes. Booking is advised, as it's popular. The good is very well presented. No sense of rush, although they are often full. Recommended.

We visit Zen Thai in Cheddar whenever we visit. By far the best Thai restaurant we have ever been to. We’ve been to others but nothing comes close to Zen. Food is tasty and plentiful, and the staff and atmosphere make eating here a thoroughly enjoyable experience. This time our favourite dish was the Moo Krob which was just incredible. Whilst it’s a shame we don’t live close enough to visit more often it’s great to know that when we do visit we will always have a great experience.

Beautiful place, best Thai food ever, very special service and the most friendly restaurant visited in ages. Went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Dishes adjusted to suit our taste. Not expensive.

Phoned up at the last minute for a table, and the owner did everything possible to squeeze us in. Thank you. It is always a fantastic meal and relatively cheap compared to other restaurants locally. I would definitely recommend going to others. We look forward to our next visit.

Stopped here to order a takeaway. Staff were not very welcoming and treated us like an inconvenience which was a shame. Assuming they don’t like tourists, but surely our money is as good as any? Antiquated ordering system. The food was pleasant but way over priced for the quality. Sub-par lamb in the Massaman. We all felt a bit like we might have fallen for a tourist trap restaurant - ooops!

Girlfriend really wanted to go here as it looked fancy and full when we were last in cheddar so I booked a table. They have plenty of vegan options avaible for her and many chicken dishes for me which were very delicious. Definitely would go again 🙂

Visiting cheddar gorge this Easter holiday and decided to try based on good reviews. We ordered big take away, £130 worth. No free prawn crackers or even a bottle of soft drink! First I’ve experienced this. The food order was prompt, food nice and hot. Disappointed with the Tom yum soup and jungle curry, the curry is extremely watered down, chicken very dry. Soup is sweet and creamy, not like any other Tom yum soup…… £7.50 a bowl is far too over priced! I won’t be eating here again, it isn’t bad food but the prices are steep. £14 a curry, £14 a noodle.

Always look for a Thai restaurant when we go away and this did not disappoint, we booked beforehand on a Tuesday night and the place was full. All dishes were well presented and tasted amazing service staff did a top job. We parked in a local car park and walked took about 3 minutes and the parking is free after 6pm. Highly recommended

Had an early dinner here with our two young children and it was brilliant. We enjoyed some wonderful food and were really well looked after. The chef suggested a dish for the children to try which was very well recieved! It was so nice to do this as a family so thanks to all the staff for a lovely experiene.

Due to all the good reviews we were excited to eat here. The food came quickly and the waitress shoved the corner of the serving tray in my face twice . She did sort of apologise but smirked and threw my dish down on the table on top of the cutlery. The food was just complely tasteless. The prawns were like bullets, there was a lot of sugar in the pad Thai. My friends rice dish was as plain as it comes. For almost £20 for a simple dish we won't be back. Thai is our favourite food so we are seasoned in how the dishes authentically taste. On another note, the chairs are way too low for the tables so bring a cushion if you're short!

Fantastic food the flavours were as usual superb The pad Thai was beautifully done and the duck delicious if you like spicy food the jungle curry is a must My only criticism would be please warm up the restaurant I felt cold the whole evening I noticed other diners still in their coats as well

Wow! The best Thai restaurant around.. food was just fabulous, the service was first class and the atmosphere was lovely. We chose to have our starters at the same time as our main which meant table space was limited but we managed. A great choice of starters, mains, deserts and drinks. It does get busy here so best to book ahead. We parked opposite which is a pay and display car park 24/7 and cost £4 for 3 hours. We can't fault anything it was delicious. We will definitely be recommending and will for sure be going again.

Me and my husband LOVED it here! We booked very last minute and was lucky to get a table on a Saturday night. They were very accommodating and managed to fit us in. From the moment you walk in, to the minute you walk out, the service is amazing. And the food… wow best Thai food we have ever had in the UK (and we have tried many places). The owner too mingled with guests and the whole place had a very wholesome feel to it. We can’t wait to go back the next time we are in cheddar. Thank you so much guys xxx

Wow. I have eaten at 30+ Thai restaurants in the UK and this is now my absolute favourite. My husband and I lived in Bangkok for a number of years, so finding “authentic” Thai food is a way to stay connected to that time in our life. Not only is the food outstanding, but the owners are true restaurateurs. They glide around that place, giving everyone little bits of personal attention, which makes the whole experience perfect. It is no wonder they ask you to book weeks in advance. Star highlights for me after our first visit: - Moo grawbp - crispy pork with the most delicious sweet/sour dip. - Pad see eew - they actually use fresh wide rice noodles (no pad Thai rice sticks or mama noodles in sight). They also managed when it was busy, to cook a “Thai egg” (Kai daow) to go on top. On a weekend they even do Kanom Thuay - which are delicious little bowls of coconutty pandaan goodness. I feel so lucky to live within driving distance of ZenThai. Cannot wait to go back. Side note - the loos are pristine which always makes me feel happy.

What a wonderful experience tonight at ZenThai! We came at 4:55, right at opening. Even though they were fully booked, they let us use the manager’s table for a quick dinner with our five year old son as long as we finished before their next 6pm reservation. We ordered golden tofu (crispy!), pad see eiu noodle (perfect!), orange chicken (fantastic large portion), aromatic jasmine rice, and tasty soup with tofu. Food was absolutely delicious, served quickly, beautiful presentation…The host and wait staff could not have been more accommodating for our young child. 10/10 for service, presentation, authenticity, ambiance, friendliness, I could go on. Exceptional coconut custard dessert. We got extremely lucky, it seems necessary to book well in advance especially Friday and Saturday. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making our evening so special!

**Update** went in last night for a sit down meal. Was pretty busy so a lovely atmosphere. The staff were amazing. So attentive and helpful. And the food was out of this world. Well worth the visit. Ordered from here recently after fancying something a bit different. Got a takeaway order for 6 of us. Firstly let me say how easy and great the pickup system is with them bringing it out to your car. Secondly wow what great food! The portions were large, freshly cooked, so fresh and flavourful. Trust their menu when they say it’s one of their signature dishes! We had a variety of appetisers and 3 mains. Everything was so tasty and cooked to perfection. We will be back.

We drove through Cheddar Gorge and fancied a bite to eat. That's when we came across Zen Thai. We parked and walked in and it was busy. We only had to wait 5 minutes for a table of 4. In hindsight, I happily would have waited for 4 hours!! The waiting staff were lovely and the owners were kind and welcoming. We chose our mains and starters off the menu and one of the owners explained to us about the flavours and how the ingredients are actually from Thailand! The food arrived in good time, not too fast and not too slow, considering it was a fully booked dinner service. You could really taste the quality of the food. When it came to dessert, I was further impressed! I went for the homemade coconut rice pudding dessert. Again, the owner explained that the bottom layer is sweet and the top layer is salty so it gives a unique flavour. The dessert was the nicest one I've had in a restaurant. Also on the list was a selection of pastry desserts and ice creams. It's refreshing to see a dessert menu with a large variety of choices for those of us who don't want ice cream! I can't fault the service or food here at all. Finally, the price was reasonable. I would definitely visit again and would recommend having a meal here. Thank you!

Nothing wrong with the service as such but the place was busy so things were probably slower coming to the tables than usual. Worth the wait though.

Able to be seated as a last minute booking - 2 Adults and one baby in a pram. They staff were quick, attentive and super friendly. Sharer starter was delicious and the food was fast, fresh and hot. They also had a really good quality baby changing facility in the bathroom.

One of those restaurants you feel compelled to review because it ticks all the boxes. If you have never tried spicy Thai food in Thailand, be aware you may need to ask for it mild as this is 'real' Thai and not toned down like in many other UK Thai restaurants. Cutlery, toilets, crockery etc all spotless...so you know they take hygiene seriously. Staff all extremely welcoming and you feel they really care about your dining experience.

Last minute decision to try this restuarant whilst in Cheddar for the night. Seems we were very lucky to get in at short notice but so grateful we did. This has to be one of the best Thai restaurants we've ever been to, food perfect but the service and atmosphere was exactly what we like, small, intimate, friendly but professional. Cannot find a single fault. Oh there is one, we live 2hours away. Will return to cheddar just for this place. Thank you.

One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been too. Food was excellent- Well balanced and absolutely delicious. Dessert (Mango with sticky rice) was not overtly sweet. The ambience of the place with imported Thai decor just makes it a perfect dining experience. The owners are friendly, providing great service. Glad to have popped in! Thanks!

Squeezed us in on a Sunday evening without a reservation and a very full restaurant. My Thai wife was very impressed (not easy when it comes to food). The food and service was first class, with authentic Thai flavours, Chang beer and helpful and friendly staff. I would highly recommend, but make sure you book as they are very busy!

We loved everything. From our meals, to the drinks, service and atmosphere. Curries were a bit runnier than I would have expected but absolutely tasty nevertheless. Visited on a Tuesday evening and we were lucky to walk in right after they had opened for service that day. They managed to acommodate us (table of 5) even though they were practically fully booked.

Ordered for takeaway all from the vegan menu, thought the ordering process and collection was easy and bang on time. We did feel let down by the food, it was lacking in flavour (especially the noodle soup) and thought it was really overpriced (£15 for a main which doesn't come with rice or noodles)

Fast service, amazing tasty food, only problem was there was an eyelash on the plate, this should have been seen by the person plating up, or the waitress.
