Zensation in Glasgow City

The worst Chinese food I've ever had . Arrived 6.30 ( 13/04 ) binned at 7 . Chicken curry , egg fried rice , mushrooms , prawn crackers and chips . Everything tasted odd especially there curry sauce . Grainy salty and nothing like a proper takeaway sauce . My main concern is we have actually are some of it and hope we are not sick !!!. The first time I've used this place and without a shadow of a doubt the last ! Disgusting avoid at your peril !!!

Sweet and sour king prawn Cantonese style was sloppy and soggy. Thin slimy batter and not the nice chewy crispy way it normally is. Beef in the beef curry was sparse and sauce very salty . Fried rice average and chips pale & soggy as was the paper packet it arrived in. Wouldn’t use again

Hands down the best salt and chili chips I've ever had. Really hope they keep the recipe the same in future!

Consistently excellent food! Great quality and always delivered on time. The best Chinese I wouldn’t use anywhere else! The Malaysian Sambal dishes are really tasty and a great portion size. 👌🏻❤️

Must admit after reading the reviews I was dreading my delivery but food came warm and the chicken curry was absolutely delicious only thing I Will say is there could be more sauce in the chicken fried rice as it looked to dry

worst Chinese food i’ve ever had!! There was a what seemed like a 2 cm coating of grease and oil on my curry. Just looking at it gave me the boke! Tasted as it looked, greasy! wouldnt recommend

Food was terrible, wierd chicken fried rice with a gravy sitting on top. Shredded crispy beef was bizzare. Tasted off. Never ate any of it really.. plus easily the most expensive Chinese takeaway in the whole of Scotland.give it a pass.

very good test of chinese food.veg rice,ginger spring onions chicken.but salt pepper chicken bite portion is very small only 8pc not expected.

Had ordered a chicken satay and sweet honey chicken and chilli chips. The satay chicken had severe freezer burns, this just means that the chicken they use is frozen and they charge me 500% the price of a frozen chicken fillet in some honey and flour coating, which is not a standard for any takeaway especially when the 500ml tub along with food had to go to the bin, totally inedible. Sweet chicken was crispy but the satay chicken put me off entirely so I ate about half and threw away the rest. Chips were good but once again the quality of chicken just makes me think this restaurant is putting money above quality which to me is unacceptable. Will most likely never order from here again. Would not recommend even to an enemy.

Don’t order here as takeout, save your money. Chow main was meh alright, nothing special. Salt a chilli chips were the worst chips I’ve ever had. It’s been deep fired over and over. Curry sauce was oily and really watery, not what a curry sauce should be like. Don’t recommend.

One of the only places in Glasgow to find Taiwanese popcorn chicken. Done properly, and quite good.

Just had the worst customer customer experience. Items missing from my order but Katy says there is nothing she can do ! Chef said it was packed. So either she’s lying or the driver ate it on the way round. Either way I didn’t get my dinner and she thinks it’s ok to leave me like that ! Really poor.

I find the vegetarian curry from here very tasty and it's the only dish I ever get personally so I can't comment on the rest. However you say you have tofu on the menu but you never do have it so I end up buying tofu and heating it up to add to my curry. Where's the tofu?

Absolutely grim food. If you're someone that's never been to Asia and only goes on holiday to Benidorm then you might find this tasty. The food is absolutely vile here. Avoid.

Update: EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER, I have ordered takeaway from here multiple times with great success. However tonight I ordered directly from the restaurant instead of uber and my order was missing my starter of satay skewers. I phoned to inform the restaurant and was told it was below my kung po and prawn crackers which it was not and I did not even order prawn crackers. To make the situation much worse the restaurant told me to repack my food order and the driver would return and refund me. I'm now hungry, angry and disappointed with the distinct lack organisation or compassion to remedy the situation. Husband liked and enjoyed curry although sauce was a bit thin ,, Sweet and Sour chicken was awful thin pieces of chicken and very tough … poor balance of sweet and sour tasted very bitter and suffice to say has been binned ….. not good especially given prices charged ……

Rude staff. Food was a no show. Avoid

Food did not arrive (ordered via deliveroo) and was told they had left my food with concierge. I have no concierge at my house! Called restaurant who were rude and told me to phone the driver and find out if he can go back to where he left the food and get it, and bring it to me! No thanks, no idea where it had been and will certainly not be ordering from this restaurant again.

I often get take away either Fri or Sat night last week was Friday got sliced chicken breast curry fried rice & crackers .I picked it up was delicious. Tonight I got same order just finished half of it .absolutely delicious and half left for tomorrow..wouldn't go anywhere else. 5 star for me

CHICKEN CURRY IS CLASS, HAD A FEW TIMES AND BEEN REALLY GOOD. CHIPS ARE 95% OF THE TIME COLD STALE RE HEATS AND THE SALT AND CHILLI CHICKEN HAS LESS MOISTURE IN IT THAN THE SAHARA DESERT. GET IT FIXED

First take away from here in a while.... Decided to order from Zensation, yeah it's slightly more expensive, but usually great quality. Between us we ordered a vegetable curry,chicken curry, fried ricea d chips. Including delivery it was almost £23. When it arrived I was very disappointed to find no prawn crackers which after paying that much are usually complementary. The curry sauce was runny & watery, and the chips were cold with several black ones mixed amongst them. Was very disappointed to say the least. Would it put us off ordering again....absolutely!

Truly awful. Ordered a main and two sides (one being salt and chilli chips and the other curry sauce) in the takeaway about 9.15pm; food took around 20 mins so I left the takeaway at 9.35pm and headed home with the food. We started to plate up straight away and discovered the chips were congealed and very crispy, as though they'd been left sitting then fried again. They were dark in colour and there was no potato inside to speak of, just dried out and crispy; totally inedible. The curry sauce very runny and seemed like it had been watered down. I called them to flag it 3 times before 10pm closing but no-one answered the phone. I called again the next day and was told I'd need to bring the food in for inspection! On a point of principle i decided I would. I was told they had been very busy the previous evening and I had been their last customer. I said that was no justification for the quality of food I'd been served. The staff member then had the audacity to suggest i'd maybe left the food laying out. I told him I'd called straight away and before 10pm closing, but no-one picked up. He said he had checked the phone records and seen i'd called but they'd already closed. I asked what was the point in advertising opening hours if they weren't going to keep to them and he replied that he didn't know where i'd seen 10pm closing time as they closed before then. As it happens the 4pm-10pm opening hours are advertised on their own website! He refunded me for the sides and said "what more do you want? An apology?" I could see there was no point in further discussing the matter so left. I WOULDN'T ORDER FOOD FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN IF YOU PAID ME. The last thing I'd mention is this; whilst waiting on my order in the takeaway, there were 2 notices; the first said "cash only" which struck me as odd as when i order from the via Uber I pay with card, so they clearly have that facility but it's not available to customers who take the time to actually go into the takeaway. The second notice said "we will no longer be giving away prawn crackers due to a supply shortage" LOL! 😂 There are so many quality takeaways in the west end, next time I'll order from one who values their customers, doesn't serve inedible food and who know a thing or two about what qualifies as good customer service. I definitely won't be back.

Good good. Clean and well maintained. Helpful staff. Always been happy (dine in and take away). I think it’s cash only unless a home delivery is ordered through a third party (just eat etc)

Ok, going by reviews of this place I decided to give it a go.. Goodness disappointed is an understatement.. how in the name of the wee man can this establishment get so good reviews. I wouldn’t be going back really on the basis the first thing I always do is get a satay, if it’s good then everything is good, but.. big but.. it wasn’t, sauce excellent that’s how I gave such high mark out of 5, the chicken was like pine wood, thin, burned, over cooked and after one bite the lot went in the bin.. total waste of my time, trying out so called top rated takeaway in Glasgow.. I would like to see the owners eat the dreadful food .. so so disappointed.. remarkable how places like this get away with it..

disgusting. actually been put off this style of food because of zensation, frozen chicken breasts that didnt taste like chicken at all, so chewy and hard. Not one part of the £35 meal was edible, went straight in the bin.

Was absolutely disgusting. Food seemed reheated. Katsu curry chicken must have been frozen and dumped into a microwave before serving to us. Spent over £30 had to bin it all and order pizza. Misleading positive reviews for sure!

We had a family dinner for 3 of us , phoned order in and in ten minutes were told to collect . Not bad for a busy Friday peak time order , how ever when we opened our food it appears to be old or pre cooked . Defo not cooked to order . Not the first time here I’ve been disappointed . They're taken advantage of just eat ect and quality is out the window . Beware.

Great wee restaurant, running a 3 course fixed price menu @ £16.50, so great value. You have to try the salt and chilli chicken wings they're fantastic. Highly recommend Zensation.

This use to be a regular place my family & friends would visit for a meal, unfortunately I did stop going due to paying cash for a meal at a restaurant. After a few years I decided to go back and try as I did always love the food. From arriving to leaving the Zensation I was so disappointed, food as ok not great, service was shocking considering we were the only people in the place. Toilet bin’s hadn’t been cleaned and to be honest I would say in a few days, after we had our starters all the kitchen staff went outside for a cigarette break, which u could smell inside and see then walking in & out which I was appalled at. Hence to say I won’t be returning, sorry to write this review but it truly was a bad experience and not a cheap one either and again still paying cash.

Spent over £40 on takeaway. Food came in a decent time. Portion size good. Salt & chilli chips were rock solid and tasteless, could break your teeth. Chicken satay was rock solid and dry and tasteless. Salt and chilli chicken chow mein was tasteless. Would never recommend or eat here again. Dont do it

Firstly, if you're on here deciding to eat at this place, DON'T!!! Really wish I didn't have to write this. However, I've just finished my meal and I'm feeling pretty angry. There's nothing worse than looking forward to a meal, and for it to be so disappointing. Went to this place because it seemed to have good reviews, but I will NEVER be ordering from here again. Chicken and honey dish was RIDICULOUSLY bad. I feel robbed, would love to get my money back. Salt and Chilli chips were clearly yesterdays and heated. Absolutely inedible. What are restaurants trying to do? Pull the wool over peoples eyes? This food was truly appalling.

The Kung Po King Prawns dish was really nice, however the Thai Tom Yam Kung Soup could have been better with more King Prawns. Also, it is worth mentioning that the main dish doesn't have rice. All in all, a good experience for the price.

Order was overdone and when my grandmother phoned to complain they yelled at her through the phone. Told us we were wrong and said she didn't care about our order. Money wasted. DO NOT GO HERE!

Imposters - move over. There is a new king in town. The Zen is the best. Everything from here was impeccable - from the delightfully crisp and textured salt & chilli wings, to the ribs that were more like shanks, to the old school staples like fried rice and noodles. Come here and you won't regret it. Accept no substitutes.

The service was decent enough. The waitress was pleasant. The food however was not the best. The hot and sour soup and the sichuan King prawns were too spicy and the vegtables service with them did not compliment the prawns. The prawns themselves were tasry and fresh but unable to enjoy them as were too hot and spicy. The ribs were tasty. The kids meal was not worth it and to charge £1.50 for a small glass of diluting juice was a disgrace

Easily the best Chinese in the area

Myself and 8 family members attended zensation for a graduation dinner. The staff were attentive and most of my party enjoyed their meal, however, 2 of us ordered the chicken satay. This was far too spicy (even spicier than the salt and chilli mushrooms we had as a starter) neither of us could this due to the immense heat. There was no peanut flavour at all. I am a huge fan of chicken satay but this was nothing like chicken satay at all. Such a shame as the rest of the evening was enjoyable.

This place is comparable to some of my favourite asian takeaway restaurants in London. Been here multiple times and every-time is great. Sometimes the food takes longer at the weekends (1hr) but the food is always hot, and the standard is always consistent, so it is well worth it in my opinion.

The food here is delicious and they have great service.

This place is Fab..and if you like your food spicy.my fav is Malaysian chicken Sambai.

Appaling service! My girlfriend and I ordered food with a 50 minute delivery time. Fair enough we were happy to wait. About half an hour later we got a notification saying our order had been canceled with no explanation what so ever. Rest assured we will not be ordering food from here ever again! Only giving one star because I can't give none!

Not a fan. This is not your normal Chinese takeaway or restaurant. Don't be fooled it's Japanese or Cantonese and in my opinion the food can be either very bland or really hot. Staff are not used to talking with Glaswegians although it's in Glasgow so customer service can be daunting especially during order or if they have got something wrong. You hear them in the back once you've spoke to them and get the feeling it my fault...no you got the order wrong with the back so sort it and quite down. Been a few times but not somewhere I would recommend.

Sin embargo, parece que hace un gran comercio de comida para llevar y entregas a domicilio. Las cocinas son grandes y con mucho personal.El restaurante y las cocinas se ven muy limpias y bien mantenidas. La comida, como en la mayoría de los restaurantes chinos, se adapta a un paladar occidental; No es duro al 100% auténtico chino. . . es decir, no hay patas de gallina en el menú.Es "solo efectivo" en Zensation, pero hay un cajero automático a 20 metros de distancia en Tesco Local.En resumen, estoy muy satisfecho con las entregas a domicilio y las visitas a Zensation.

A little pricier than most places for takeaway but your getting better quality would recommended the salt n chilli shredded chicken chow mein. The restaurant is still hood quality but a bit too open plan and not as cosy as it could be and for some reason they don't take card anymore so a trip to a cash machine is in order, sort out the card problem and I would give 5 stars

Lo he intentado un par de veces y, aunque la comida era lo suficientemente buena (y hacen los menús del almuerzo y antes del teatro), me pareció que carecía de ambiente y que hacía mucho frío para sentarse, lo que no hace que sea una comida agradable. ¡Tal vez ya han subido un poco la calefacción! ?

Just had my 1st take-away from Zensation. Call handler was very polite/professional. Arrived promptly...at the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival.) Delivery person was courteous, my Chinese curry was excellent. Will definitely use this again and highly recommend. Thank you.

Have visited this restaurant a number of times and each time the standard of service and quality of food continues to be high. Food is fantastic! Very tasty and very generous portions even on their pre-theatre menu. Great local Chinese restaurant which offers high quality food every time!

Good food and good value for money - especially on the lunch menu.

Placed an order over the phone for collection. 40 minutes it was finally ready. Got home. Sweet and sour chicken portion size was shocking. 8 pieces of chicken hardly any sauce plenty of veg but that was obviously the cheap inexpensive filler to bulk up the lack of chicken. The fried rice was under cooked in parts with a lot of it clumped together so it was unfried plain clagy rice. 2 spring rolls for £3.20 is disgusting as these are so cheap to buy in the first place. And to top it all off. 40 minutes of waiting made all the food we ordered stone cold so had to be heated up. After traveling to get it I was in no way intrested in going back with it. 100% Safe to say I will not be back or recommending to anyone. Will stick with the tried and tested Chinese called friendlies up the road. Don’t buy from here if you don’t want to waste your money
