Absolutely outstanding food and drink! from the smell coming straight from the moment we arrived at the door, having brought along a guest who has had authentic vietnamese food they were impressed and excited by the menu and the smells and food lived up to the expectation. The ability to choose spice range was perfect. the only downside was we were sat upstairs where it was very quiet with a loud drunken couple being disruptive and without any music on in the background it did dampen our dining experience but the staff were very sincere and apologetic about it and did switch on some speakers towards the end of our meal so we can't fault them.

I’ve been here over the years and the service and atmosphere remain great. I had the soft shell crab 🦀 which was amazing with the refreshing salad 🥗. One of the things this place did great was Vietnamese/Thai 🇻🇳 spicy prawn 🦐 crackers. See photos from older reviews with the brown crackers. However I was just served off the shelf supermarket Chinese white prawn crackers which were rather disgusting.

I had one of the worst experience in Vietnamese food here, the smell of Pho was off, and the taste wasn’t what i expected Pho would be, it’s too salty and lacked the taste of the traditional spices, and i have too mention Pho supposed to be piping hot, not warm like the ones i was served. I had the special spring rolls and it was alright, cocktails were too sweet and felt like mocktails rather. My stomach was aching the whole day after this meal. This is actually the second time i was here, first time was 3/5. I gave it another shot but can’t say i agree with the food here.

What a fall from grace. Really disappointing food. My daughter ordered tofu and mushroom Pho, it was genuinely rank rotten. The broth was like dishwater, the tofu waterlogged. There was an attempt to spruce things up with an excessive, off putting, amount of fresh mint that was just over powering. What happened to this place? Far, far to pricey for way below par food.

The Hanoi bike shop restaurant is a unique experience to Glasgow. For appetizers we ordered the peanut and coconut Tofu which was very good. The pork cheek dish was the best dish I've had this month, this is a must. The mains were the beef Pho and the chicken pho. They were good but the broth on the beef bone broth one was a bit too salty. Personally, I think the Pho was a bit underwhelming. The appetizers were better than the mains. Overall a good experience.

The drinks were very strong (we had a few different cocktails) but still very tasty, and very fairly priced. I used to be a semi-regular when I worked on Ashton Lane 2012 - 2016, however our visit this evening was utterly disappointing. When we walked in, no one was there. No staff. No customers. Then we were hit with the strong smell of dog, which we were later advised by the 1 staff member when did he arrive was the fish sauce. If your fish sauce smells like dog, you shouldn't be using it! We considered leaving at this point. We had in fact just been offered to order drinks when we raised the issue with the smell, and the staff member proceeded to leave before taking our drinks order after our criticism. We went on to order 1 bowl of chicken pho and one of bike shop tofu and mushroom pho, both level 4 spice. We then witnessed the 1 same staff member assemble it behind the serving counter. I've never known an establishment to ask it's servers to act as chef as well. We both found our dishes bland, and the chicken in particular tasted old, as though it was being reused and reheated, and did mention we were unhappy to the 1 staff member, who to his credit did ask if we wanted anything else, but at this point we just wanted out of there. After swallowing what we could, we asked for the bill as soon as we could. A 2nd staff member has appeared to take our payment. She seemed polite enough. I couldn't quite believe the price for the quality of meal we had however. £42 for 2 bowls of sub par pho with 1 extra and 2 drinks?! The quality does not match the price. Do not waste your time, money or calories here. A shadow of its former self.

Our family visited the Hanoi Bike Shop again yesterday after a few years' absence. The three of us were seated downstairs. In short, we had a wonderful dining experience. However, there are a few things that could be improved. I'm not sure if it was just a one-off, but it seemed like there was a staff shortage. The server had to juggle greeting new guests, seating them, and serving the tables. Years ago, the steak we had here left a lasting impression on us. With that in mind, we ordered two portions of medium-rare steak. Despite being one of the most expensive items on the menu, it was the weakest dish on the table. It was tough and overcooked, closer to medium-well than medium-rare. I think it was rump steak. Although the sauce improved the flavor a bit, we weren't very happy with it. On the other hand, the fish cakes and the chicken and mushroom dish were excellent. Finally, and I don't think it was intentional, we ordered prawn crackers, but they never arrived. We didn't remind them, but they were added to the bill. It was a small thing, but it was corrected immediately when we pointed it out. The staff weren't the most cheerful, but I understand the stress that staff shortages can create, and I attribute it to that. All in all, we had a very enjoyable family meal. Considering the price-performance ratio, I think it was a success. 4/5 stars.

Was there with my family last night. Hadn’t been for a decade but won’t be back. The first thing that hit me was the overwhelming stench of fish sauce upon entering the restaurant. My wife had the mushroom grill dish which was one mushroom cut into four slices and an enormous chunk of kimchi- should have been a starter and wasn’t worth £17. My daughter had the pork belly and it was also tiny. My son and myself had the design your own pho, it was tasteless and neither of us could bring ourselves to finish it. Don’t come here if you have ever been to SE Asia as you will be disappointed with the quality, portion size and value for money. We won’t be back, should have gone to Ka Pau.

Disappointed after a much anticipated trip to Hanoi Bike shop. We had previously heard good things but don't think this place lives up to the hype unfortunately. We had one tattered paper menu between 3 people and waited over 40 minutes for our Pho dishes while the table next to us, who entered after us, were served quickly. The food was good but bland, lacking the zest and flare a good Vietnamese should have. For these prices we expected much better things. Sadly, an underwhelming experience.

I went to the Hanoi Bike Shop for the first time in a couple of years and was very disappointed. I remembered it as a great eatery with good quality food for good prices, but it seems like things have changed quite a lot recently. After 30 minutes of waiting and multiple staff telling us they’re were looking for the allergen menu they were finally able to bring it to us. Apparently there’s only one allergen menu for the entire restaurant. I ordered pork belly and potato fritters for a total of £27 (18 for the pork belly and 9 for the potatoes). As you can see from the pictures the cost vs the amount of food I received don’t really seem to match. While the pork belly was absolutely amazing, it’s simply not enough to feed an adult. The fact it came with two vegetables didn’t do much to satiate me either. There were 5 (five!!!!) potato fritters!! For £9?! I wouldn’t even have minded if they had tasted good, but they ended up being incredibly bland. They didn’t even taste of potatoes… I have no idea how you can make something like potato fritters not taste like anything 😭 What happened to this place? When I got home I was still so hungry I ended up making myself a sandwich.

Dined outside here years ago and it’s definitely gone downhill. Also the smell of feet which hits you at the front door is horrendous. We were asked upon arrival if we had any dietary requirements and we asked for a gluten free menu. Server said no problem and brought us to our table. 10 minutes later we were greeted by a different server who asked us what we wanted and we said we were still waiting on the gf menu. He said no problem and disappeared then continued to serve other tables at which point we had to chase him up and remind him we needed the gf menu. He said he’d forgotten. When he finally brought it we asked how to interpret it as it was a little confusing and he admitted he didn’t know for sure and disappeared again to check with a colleague. This was understandably not great. on the surface the place looks well curated, but the upstairs bathroom was pretty filthy, and I cut my hand on the flusher for the downstairs bathroom. There’s rustic, then there’s a real lack of care. Considering the service and odour - which I’m told is a special fish sauce but smelled horrible, and I say that as someone who likes fish sauce - the place is definitely overpriced. The temple tofu was very good, as were the chicken thighs, but other items like the potato cakes weren’t worth the price point. My partner and I have been together for a while and had a laugh regardless but I feel bad for anyone going here looking for a romantic evening.

Attended with a party of 3, and I have to say I had one of the best dining experiences that I have had in a very long time. Gorgeous tasting Pho, made with clearly fresh and high-quality ingredients, at a very reasonable price. The cocktails were lovely too. I ordered a coconut espresso martini, which was the best espresso martini that I have had before. The wait staff were lovely and very accommodating to common allergies, and can provide an allergy matrix ahead of time to your visit to make sure that you are ordering the correct dishes. Excellent work, and it is a very short walk from the subway, so I will be 100 percent making the effort to come back in the future. Well worth the trip into Glasgow.

We were seated at an outside table with stool chairs and no back support, I had a plant right against me the whole time which was a bit distracting. When i went in the waitress was rushed but took the time to acknowledge me and find out what i needed, table for 1 inside. She seemed to be on her own and was super efficient. She gave me a table around the corner with a few tables and occupied by couples. I appreciated that i wasnt planked in the middle of a busy restaurant. She then asked if the table had enough light for me to read the book i was carrying, which I assured her there was. I ordered the wee mussels and sweet potato fritters, a glass of pino grigio and when she brought the wine she asked about my book. Very fried taste and not flavorful or fresh as Vietnamese food usually is. The peanut tofu was ok, but not the black pepper tofu. Dankon? Potato cake disappointing. Cocktail was nice but beer was flat. Rice noodles salad was nice. Mehh. Too expensive for what it was

After many recommendations, we visited recently and were somewhat disappointed. The smell of wet dog inside the restaurant was our first concern, however the service was excellent and food portions were generous. Even after asking for no spice, one of the dishes was very hot and difficult to enjoy, only because we don't like spicy food, however, probably due to red chilli's in everything. My main bone of contention was the cost, £4.20 for a CAN of coke zero was a rip off and for that reason including the above, would not return and felt a little scammed to be charged such an amount for a soft drink Twice. Total bill was £85 for two course for 2 people with drinks.

Good but not brilliant food. We ate there Friday 26th April and were greeted by a strange and slightly unpleasant smell in the restaurant. It's an open kitchen so it's probably just a build up of diffreent food smells but we found it quite off putting. The food is good, we had a mixed greens, 1 beef Pho (level 4 hot), a tofu Pho (level 3) and 2 small plates of fish cakes and sweet potato fritters. It was all nice, nothing wrong with it, just not particularly memorable. The staff are great, really friendly and attentive and it's definitely quirky. I'd recommend it, just don't expect fireworks food wise.

We sat outside on a sunny day and had pho. The broth was delicious and all components were beautifully put together...very good indeed.

Fantastic spot off the main streets with a cozy atmosphere. Food was delicious although it is more on the expensive side, still well worth the visit

Very disappointing experience, after all the hype this turned out to be an inauthentic, tasteless hipster joint instead of a proper Vietnamese restaurant. We tried several menu items, but aside from the banh mi (which was good) the rest was just a comedy of errors. Shitty satay (bad sauce and presented in a bowl, for maximum discomfort when eating), lifeless pho (avoid the pink cabbage) and gross fish cakes made for an expensive and unsatisfactory meal. The ambiance is sort of nice for five minutes, but the tables are small and make for uncomfortable seating, the toilet is more like a diorama of a toilet than an actual toilet and the whole place is hot and unpleasant. In other words: either get your Banh Mi to go, or just avoid this place altogether.

I’ve now been to Hanoi Bike Shop three times and each return was worse than the last. On this occasion the food was fine, the drinks were alright, and the service shocking! The dishes come as and when they are ready, ok, but an hour for what is effectively noodle soup to be served is just ridiculous! By the time my meal arrived everyone else in our party had finished. It also took the server twenty minutes from being seated to offer us a drink. Embarrassingly poor service. I could have forgiven this (maybe) if the food had been good but it wasn’t, it was fine and fine isn’t what you want when eating out. In short, there is a Tesco around the corner selling pho kits. You’ll get your dinner quicker and it will be just as good.

Visited for lunch, during a trip to Glasgow last week. WOW! Absolutely delicious from start to finish, the “best tofu in Glasgow” certainly lived up to its name, in fact best tofu I’ve had. Beef pho was full of flavour, and the chicken satay was Devine. Great location and vibe, with Fantastic service from Jareen!! Thank you for a wonderful visit!! Highly recommend!! (I will be dreaming of the tofu for a long time!)

Disappointing experience. Very lengthy wait between arriving and finally ordering a drink. It was explained that the food would arrive as and when it was ready- this concept only really works with sharing plates, not when you are encouraged to order a starter and a main. For us, it meant again a very lengthy wait between dishes. Half the party had finished their main before others had received their first dish. If it had been explained that they were short staffed, we would have understood. However there was little in the way of an apology or any explanation. We only were afforded the opportunity order a drink once, meaning a long time waiting for dishes with nothing to drink. We won’t be back.

I've been here twice but now wouldn't go again. The first time was good (though it was after a couple of drinks) but the most recent time was really disappointing. We both had the vegan pho, but the tofu tasted stale and was cold in the middle. The coating wasn't crisp and felt almost bready. It seemed like it had been sitting around for a while before being put in the soup. I raised this with the server - which I never do, but the tofu really was so bad - and they said it wasn't crisp because it was in the broth. I've eaten and cooked a lot of tofu in my time and wasn't convinced. This did not taste like tofu that has recently been crisp but had soaked up broth, not least because it had a stale texture on arrival. We were also waiting around for a while after coming in through the door, which was confusing and almost made us go elsewhere, which we probably should have done.

Stepping in to this place immediately felt wrong! I ordered some curries from this place. It wasn't food; it was culinary despair. Completely devoid of life or flavour – a tasteless void conjured, I can only assume, by a chef whose soul died long ago and who now just slops together ingredients for coin, utterly neglecting anything resembling taste or care. A truly grim disappointment, amplified by service as lifeless as the meals. Between the grim atmosphere, the tasteless food, and the poor service, it's simply not worth your time or money. You will be disappointed. Warning: Approach the curries here at your peril. You will find only a flavourless abyss and the cold, hard truth of wasted money. Do yourself a favour and (Starve) instead!

We visited yesterday for the first time. The food is amazing quality, and the service is even better. The young waitress and waiter always had a friendly smile on their face and were constantly picking up empty plates and ready to to assist. The food was always hot, served quick and flavourful. We've already recommend to a couple of our friends and family to visit and we will definitely be back
