Rishi's Indian Aroma in Glasgow City

Me and my family decided to visit this restaurant today for a change of taste. We were warmly welcomed by the staff at our table. Eager to try something different, we asked the server for recommendations. He suggested some good food. Each dish introduced us to new flavors that we had never experienced before. As Americans, this was a truly unique experience for us. Special thanks to the gentleman, who we believe was the manager, for taking excellent care of us. His service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Glasgow and suggest being served by the same person. It was an honor to be looked after by him.

Worst and embarrassing behaviour from the waiter or manager their with thin and bald headed. He is looking at us in a very insulting way from top to bottom. I think he is not suitable for that restaurant. As a customer we wish to have the food or not. As a restaurant staff you should accept that and obey the welcome and send off manner with atleast a smile. Very embarrassing I came out of the restaurant without ordering food. I don’t know brother who you are but you will be a negative asset for Rishi’s restaurant at Glasgow.

Today I had my 2nd experience at Rishi's and it did not disappoint. The first time I had a dosa, which is a south Indian dish. I'd never experienced anything like it and I will definitely try it again. Today I had a Vindaloo, I like spicy food but must admit it wasn't as spicy as I'd hoped for. That being said it tasted lovely and I'd have it again, but perhaps ask for a bit more spice. The staff are really good, we asked for recommendations on how much rice and nan we should have between the 6 of us having curries, and they were super helpful. Plus they were more than happy to let us split the bill which is appreciated on a work lunch. Inside the restaurant is decorated really well. There's some ambient music playing while you eat your food. Definitely recommend this place.

Really enjoyed our meal here and 3 of the 4 were South Asian. Both food and service were very good. There were plenty of other South Asian people eating there.

The worst experience, freezing cold chutney serving with masala dosa

We were at this hotel yesterday, food was not good at all. Chicken 65 buhari style, when ordered the 1st place was good, but when ordered for 2nd time it was very hard. Chicken kothu parotta was very bad no flavours. Schezwan noodles had raw chilli smell. Later it was replaced with chicken fried rice which was too much oily, egg smell. There wasn't even a proper apology. We used to come here regularly, but this time it was very disappointing.

Very bad service terrible service staff went with family on 6th of Aug 2024 at 8.17 no one came to take order till 9.06 came back without eating with kids very disappointed.Please check service reviews in trip advisor about service staff and service so many people had bad experience because of poor service.

Had a horrible experience of most unprofessional service we waited 45 minutes before staff came to take our order and even after that didn’t even serve drinks for another 10 minutes restaurant wasn’t even busy as it’s weekday when spoke to on duty manager instead of apologising he was defensive and keep repeating that it’s only been 15 minutes we left without having dinner with kids after experiencing this unprofessional attitude of staff Staff needs training desperately Never going back there again Please check other reviews as well before planning to go I should have done that HORRIBLE SERVICE ‼️

Went on Tuesday the 6th of August 2024 at 8:17 pm. None of the staff member turned up till 9:06pm. When went to the manager to ask why no-one is attending us, he started making excuses. Restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Manager was very unprofessional and didn’t have a clue what was going on in the restaurant. Two other customers were also very upset who came after us. At the end we decided to leave because of terrible service. It was really bad, we should have read the other reviews on trip advisor before coming about very poor service.

Food was excellent, very tasty and large portions. Service was friendly but not fast, and we had to ask to place the order. Did feel we had been forgotten at times😔 Edinburgh Rishi's was a much better experience overall and we would happily return there but might not return to Glasgow

Authentic South pizza Indian restaurant with north indian food options.

We came here to stay in Glasgow from London for 4 nights and we have come here 3-4 nights and came back to back because we couldn’t resist the comfort food! Amazing service , great hospitality and heartwarming staff! Everything from starters to deserts to drinks is top notch! Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian options are superb. . I would 10/10 recommend to everyone visiting Glasgow nearby!

One of the best Dosa (Madras masala Dosa) I had outside India. Proper spice, crispness, quantity, and price !

Best Indian meal ever, definitely worth going to

My partner and I ordered a take away to be collected from Bath Street last evening. The bill came to £61.70 for a take away for 2 people. The menu online indicated it should be far less. The food itself was below standard. The Malabar fish curry had 5 pieces of fish in it. The sauce was watery and filled the whole container. It was £12.95. The tandoori mixed grill contained 1 king prawn, I chop, 1 kofte and 2 small chunks of chicken. It was £16.95. The peshwari nan was the best part of the order, although a very small offering compared to other similar restaurants. It was £4.45. The desserts which can only be described as small cubes were £4 to £7. A very disappointing experience and other than calling them directly to make a complaint, there is no other form of communication on their website or social media pages. Please avoid and use other nearby restaurants.

A cut above most Indian restaurants. Great service and food.

In Glasgow for a couple days and went for early dinner. Food was top notch and reasonably priced. The lamb korma was luscious and the meat tender. Enjoyed the masala dosa and the garlic naan. Our waitress was lovely. Would definitely go back for another meal.

Food is good. Service is very old style. The staff don't speak the best English and the vibe is very old school with minimal decor etc and not much atmosphere. Quite expensive for what it is. They would benefit from having some of the staff speak more English so people can ask questions about the menu. (I am also Indian just for reference).

Wonderful South Indian food at incredible prices

It was a very quiet time when we went there. The dosa we tried was okay, but the masala mixed with potato could have been slightly fresher. The service was very sloppy; we waited a long time after our starters. However, we really enjoyed their mango lassi, which was not too sweet.

Came for dinner twice now, had saag paneer the first time and the paneer butter masala the second which were both really great. The naan and mango lassi are fab too! My friend had the dosa which looked great. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful restaurant. Food is amazing, it’s like an art which they’ve mastered. I highly recommend. I am not Indian, but I love it!

Indian food is tasty and good quality. It's clean and ambience is 'desi'. I love both the North Indian and South Indian food here. It's our go-to place. Quite affordable and staff is friendly and polite. You can ask them to customize your dish like if you want a little spicy 'masaaledaar' food, you can ask them while placing the order. I have tasted almost all the vegetarian items on the menu and it's delicious.

We were excited to eat South Indian food as it's not readily available where we live. The restaurant has nice portraits on the wall and an interesting, albeit dim lighting scheme. The starter, gobi manchurian was tasty, maybe a bit too sweet. The dosas and utthapam were right on target, as were the sambhar and chutneys. Apparently this restaurant also serves a five foot long dosa that exceeds the length of the table (this must be an interesting sight). The service was a bit slow, but the food was made to order, so I was willing to compromise.

Less quantity and bit expensive

I always make it a point to visit Rishi's when I visit Glasgow. Madras masala dosa is the best you will get in the UK. The chutneys served with dosa and sambhar are fresh and tasty. Visit this place for authentic south Indian food and you won't be disappointed.

We had food at Rishis for past few months and it was a very pleasant experience throughout, Chandru showcased his skills in handling customers and really a good man. Thanks to Mr. Chandru kept us comfortable always

Foods always good. I keep asking what's in the chicken fried rice, it's so much better than anywhere else.

We had lunch from Rishi's Indian Aroma, ordering Kothu Porotta, Chicken Biryani, Chicken Chettinad Curry, Rice with Fish Curry, and Mango Lassi. Overall, both the food and service were good. If anyone is looking for an Indian restaurant in Glasgow, this one is worth a try.

Fantastic. We eat Indian food whenever and whenever we can and this is the best we've had. Tucked in so fast I didn't get a chance to snap photos. We three had several chicken dishes, garlic naan, a lamb dish and mango lassis and were impressed with all of it, including the service. I shall return.

Good food, not too expensive. Taste is close to Indian food. Only minor complaint is that, I had to go looking for staff when ordering. Overall, will come back definitely.

We had ordered chicken dosa and it was a big disappointment. It was just 5 chucks of boiled chicken added to the potato masala. Both didn't reciprocate their taste as chicken was just boiled and masala didnt have chicken flavour. I would suggest to refrain from ordering chicken/ lamb dosa.. Rest of the food was ok.

We had a dinner on our trip to Glasgow and food was good. Although the place was over crowded and hence service was poor. The attitude of the staff wasn’t good and some of the dishes they served food on wasn’t properly cleaned. They rushed us to finish our food.

Took a takeaway recently. Waitress made me takeout my phone and forcefully clicked the delivery acceptance on the app. I was dumbfounded by this behaviour as I clearly mentioned my name and order first. Not a good way to treat customers. Never going back again

Rishi's Aroma offers a delightful vegetarian dining experience! The food is delicious, with a wide variety of flavorful dishes. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, and the staff are attentive and friendly. Perfect for vegetarians and anyone who loves great food.

We visited for the family dinner and it was very disappointing. For the first time in my life I had Daal Tadka that was made with Chana Daal🙄Pulao was dry. Chilly Paneer had only 4 small cubes of Paneer, rest was just the capsicum onion mixer. Papadam were cold n soggy. Chhole quantity was less for the Bhatura. Ambience was okay... Service was slow

The ultimate best if you’re looking for Indian cuisines! The Masala Dosa and Poori Masala are arguably better than even some of the restaurants in India. Great staff, especially Jithu who was very keen and careful while taking orders. She took extra care of our taste preferences and allergies and communicated that to our chef. It’s a great place if you are looking for indo-Chinese as well.

One of the worst biriyani I ever had. I personally recommend not eating their Rishi special biriyani. Too much cinnamon, black pepper, green cardamom, cloves, mint hard stem pieces and mint leaves which is very hard to chew and swallow. And too much masala in irregular proportion with a bit of spice. I just simply threw it into the bin. I couldn't even finish 25 percent of the portion. My money 11 💷 is totally wasted. Worst!!!!!!

We had the South Indian Thali and filter coffee. The food was delicious and authentic. Would surely recommend the good quality food and service. Filter coffee was also good.

FOODFILLMENT Yesterday went there to have masala dosa. After that i ordered a masala chai also .The combo was amazing and dosa and chutneys was as good as we get from back home.I Enjoyed it.

We had a very bad experience with them . Rosemilk was very bad looks like they made one week before also we asked to change them for mango lassi but the guy refused to change and we had ghee dosa but the ghee was very bad taste. Poor taste

The food here is tasty. We tried Madras masala dosa and it was really good. Starters are small portions to the price but good. I liked the ambiance. Overall a good place for lazy Sunday lunches.

Possibly the tastiest Indian food in Glasgow, the South Indian curry is very different from the typical Glasgow curry, although just as delicious.

I have experienced an exceptional dining from the restaurant by the venerable customer service, and by the soothing musical atmosphere. What I observed is all the staff are very professional in approach, and sensitive to our orders. Especially, a special thanks to Mr Chandra. He is the man who served us last two visits. Very professional in service and well- mannered in customer dealings. Moreover, the ambiance of the restaurant is simply superb. I honour all the staff of the restaurant for your service and sincere appreciation from the bottom of heart for your unexpected birthday treat to us. Rishis is our go to place for a weekend evening dinner or mid afternoon lunch. I have been to many Indians restaurants in and around Glasgow and I am certain no other restaurant makes perfect crispy dosa's like rishi's. My personal favourite are rishi's dosas with chutneys and sambar, filter coffee, veg kothu paratha, mushroom rice, chicken chetinath, mango lassi. I would highly recommend rishis for dosa and also it's worth trying the spicy kothu parathas.

Unfortunately the gentleman who took the order was not in good frame of mind in treating the customer .today 30/3/24. They way he communicated was not per minimum standards. He needs to be update so he rectifies

I recently dined at Rishi's on Monday and had paneer fried rice which was one of the best fried rices I have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone's who is a vegetarian as there are a lot of vegeterian options.

Got the mixed rishi starter. Just didnt taste that nice. Might be very authentic but to honest a bit tasteless. Wife got the fish curry and god knows what kind of fish it was but.....felt somewhere there was a penguin chick going hungry. Glabbery and totally off putting. Seemed popular with again customers so must be doing something right. Might be like real Chinese....not quite to the western palate

Got served the worst onion doza! A plain doza with some fried onions. Not cooked in the batter. It's been several years since I had an onion doza from here and the onions, cashew nuts, spices were all cooked in the batter. Was great. But who knows what's going on now!

Found hair in the food and the manager brought the hair back in his hand and accused my niece it's her hair ... He was not admitting it was their fault and we still had to pay the food ... Very unhygienic

I'd heard that rishis had 2 new chefs and decided yo risk it cos over the last few years it had gone downhill , but good news , the food was excellent, fresh dosas , amazing lamb curry and good service only downside in my opinion was the table top drinks menus are old dog eared and generally scabby looking , Hey Mr manager throw them in the bin and get new ones , cos I did not want to touch them 😷 .

Somewhat surprised to find a very literal onion dosa, and a reduced dessert menu on Mothers' Day. All others in the group enjoyed their meals. Will go again to have a better personal experience, on a less busy day.

Visited the place because of the reviews but it wasn’t as much as I expected. Ordered a samosa chole and indian filter coffee. Samosas were fresh but small and the filling was so little (lot more crispy pastry) which was a huge let down for the price. Choley was good. Now about the coffee; I think they use the coffee beans from south india and coffee is served in steel glasses so it is called “Indian filter coffee”. However, It was made by grounding beans from a machine and machine heated/frothed milk. I assumed it was authentic south Indian filter coffee which is made with percolated coffee/ decoction which is then mixed with boiling milk (milk boiled on a gas burner stovetop). It is a VERY different/traditional method. Not at all like the coffee made @Rishi’s, hence doesn’t taste anything like “south Indian filter kaapi” - Important note for anyone who doesn’t want to be disappointed like me

Recently, I visited Rishi's Indian Aroma first time which is in Glasgow city center. Ordered Masala dosa and Rogan Josh. The Masala Dosa was crisp and flavorful, reminding me of street vendors back home. The Chicken Rogan Josh was rich and aromatic, bursting with traditional spices. Each bite transported me to India, with its vibrant and authentic flavors. The restaurant's ambiance only enhanced the experience, making me feel like I was dining in the heart of India. A must-visit for anyone craving genuine Indian cuisine in Glasgow.

Just some of the best Indian food in town. Have tried a lot of places but this is really special - all the staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful, and all the food from the curries to the dosa is delicious, unique, and thoughtful. Unpretentious atmosphere and just very very yummy food! Thanks to Chandra and the rest of the staff for looking after me… twice in one week!

Food was delicious as always but service is getting worse I would say. We went there around 5.30 and rest had few tables. One of us was finished our meal and another was still eating and the waiter chandra came on our table start clearing my plate and said to my friend who was still having his meal ( can u hold the bowl in ur hand while eating so he can take the plate away) How ridiculous, u are asking customer to hold bowl in hand and so desperate to clear the table.. I would recommend this place only for food but don't expect any service ☹️

Great place for South Indian food. The dosas are giant and great value for many, although I’m sure they have gotten smaller over the years. Still excellent. Service quick and professional. A good spot for a quick, reasonably priced lunch.

Have had good experience from here in the past but last time I was there- it was four of us My friend ordered paneer dosa and waitress brought onion dosa When my friend called the waitress and informed her that she had brought the wrong dosa- she got quite aggressive and started speaking to him rudely and pointed her finger at my friend multiple times. She went back to the main desk grabbed her notepad to show the onion dosa written on it- we tried telling her she heard wrong because the 3 other people at the table clearly heard my friend order paneer dosa There was no need to be rude and point her finger at my friend multiple times Ruined the entire mood before we could even get started with our mains Food was below average is well- not sure if they had a change of chef Won't be back

Famous for serving tasty authentic South Indian food. So much so that it is busy even on a Monday lunchtime. If you have been there once, you will visit them again. Personally, thoroughly enjoyed the jumbo lamb dosa. The sweet lassi was a little too sweet though. And the Ambience would do well with an uplift.

Visited with two mates on a Thurs afternoon. We had a (Tikka Massala, a Jalfrezi, and a Rogan Josh.) Also a couple of drinks each. Bill came to about £90. Food was top class . Service was the same. Highly recommended.

Popped in here from The Bay Horse next door. A very pleasant experience. Restaurant is bright and spacious with tasteful décor. Menu contains plenty of traditional Indian dishes along with firm favourites . Food was fabulous and obviously freshly prepared. Good selection of Lagers . Prices also below what you would expect to pay in the city centre. Definitely one of Glasgow's hidden gems for good traditional Indian cuisine. See you again 👍🏻
