Yadgar Kebab House in Glasgow City

I messaged my friend to pickup lamb chop karahi portion and some chapatis as i was working. My sons on the spectrum, so getting him to try different food has been difficult. He took a liking to these when I ordered them the first time which surprised me. So every so often he has to have them. Well last night when I got home, after 11pm, opened the bag my friend brought. The container was I'd say less than half full of masala and mostly oil. I opened it up, and started taking them out. One full lamb chop, one bone (i guess the meat fell of at some point) and a wee bitesize piece of lamb. That's it, for £9.50-£10 that's it . My kid was hungry so I gave it to him. I called up today to find out how many lamb chops are meant to be in a portion, first guy wasn't sure, he said 3, then 4. I've had 5 when I've had them delivered in the past, so was confused. Second guy was extremely rude. Apparently you don't get a portion based on the amount of meat in it. Just as is. So what, they charge £10 for one chop and wee piece of meat with masala and call that a portion. Aren't they all supposed to be similar? Or atleaset similar weight? He actually told me i should have called last night, when? While working? Then he has the audacity to say i should bring it in and he'll change it. After I mention i have a kid, he thinks I'll let my kid go hungry. On top of that, my kid will have a melt down if he doesn't get what he wants. Shame on you Yadgar and your staff. Your just greedy. Charging that much for so little. Wouldn't recommend you to anyone

I have been a loyal customer of this place for over a year and have always enjoyed their food, even rating them 5 stars previously. Unfortunately, I have to change my review to 1 star due to the significant decline in quality and service. My recent order was a complete disappointment. First, the delivery was almost an hour late. Then, one of my items (lassi) was missing, and I had to wait another 15-20 minutes for it to arrive. To make things worse, when I finally received the lassi, I found a piece of chopped onion inside! It made me question the hygiene and handling of their ingredients, and I had no choice but to throw it away. The rest of the food was no better. The aloo burger bun was nearly burnt, and the biryani lacked the taste and quality it once had. I understand that weekends can be busy, but when a restaurant charges a service fee and high delivery charges, that shouldn’t be an excuse for poor quality. Really disappointed with how things have changed. I hope they take this feedback seriously and improve their standards before they lose more loyal customers.

Tried this place after being recommended from a regular, Me and a mate had a donner kebab and an achari chicken karahi, both were amazing. Highly recommend.

Ordered a delivery for 3 kebabs, the order was left on the doorstep in the freezing cold without our knowledge so the food was inedible. The kebab pitta was stuck onto the paper, use to order from here but won't be going forward, also asked for a hot chicken biryani only to arrive ice cold. Not great and waste of money, We shouldn't have to reheat our takeout

Same standard for past 20 years! Always freshly cooked dishes, always busy, always know what their doing! Got sitting area also for those who want to sit in. The aroma hit u as soon as u walk in. Amazing 👏

Absolutely the last time I’ll order from Yadgar. Used to be excellent but not anymore. Waste of money when your inedible order ends up in the bin. Kebab was poor and the salad was just cabbage! Not a single piece of tomato or cucumber. Never again.

Food is tasty but thier service is Always poor.. the prices are according to whoever Serves you and 90% of the time there is Always something missing in the order..eg.. although you have been charged but when you get a delivery or pick up food something is always amiss.. which makes the eating experience disappointing.. they NEED TO make sure everything is there before handing the food to the customers..😫

One of the best authentic curry places in Glasgow. I always go for chicken tikka karahi and rotis (keep it simple) never let's me down and reasonably priced.

If the Goshat Karahi served at Yadgar is not the best Curry in Glasgow, then what is? Ask for it in The Hector style. Lamb Chops Achari ain't too shabby either...

The absolute best for authentic Pakistani cuisine in Glasgow The chilli and onion Naan pack a whack and the mango Lassi is stunning. Cheery servers and quick service Pity it's in Govanhill, but that's just for parking.

One of the only places in Govanhill (that I've found) that does Spicy Mince / Chips and Spicy Mince as a topping without yoghurt or other sauce , just cooked mince + spices and chips , + Classic chips, don't know how they do them so well -but used to get a bag of chips and a can of Rubicon Guava about 15 years ago, still the chips I remember

Horrible mince pizza they served us, it was like keema was old, they had no ketchup, what carry out has no ketchup???

I ordered 2 carry out meals.The vegetable Biryani looked delicious but ruined by excessive salt. No other flavours came through as overpowered by the salt. The vegetable Korma had some potatoes and cauliflower but no other vegetables. The prices are good but the food was disappointing.

Decent homely food, always making it fresh which is big plus Sometimes food (curry) not up to their usual standard but they dont miss on taste. Grilled food is really tasty and donner is class.

I've went to yadgar kebab house before and But today I've spent £39 for my dinner to eat with my family and I find bugs crawling out of the deep-fried samosa and I am in disbelief that a fast food place is so disgusting and dirty that they allow bugs to be in their food. Please make sure that if you do buy from this place check the food as this place doesn't meet the health and safety regulations and there could be bugs in your food.

Well, eating at Yadgaar Kebab House was like embarking on a culinary rollercoaster – thrilling highs and disappointing lows. The Namkeen Gosht Karai was so tasteless, it made me question if my taste buds had gone on vacation. The Chicken Karai was the culinary equivalent of a shoulder shrug – neither impressive nor terrible. The popadum was a crunchy disappointment, more akin to chewing on parchment than anything edible. As for the Shish Kebab, it was just okay, which in this case, felt like a glowing review compared to the other offerings. If you're in the mood for a gastronomic adventure that's heavy on surprises (and not necessarily the good kind), Yadgaar Kebab House might just be your ticket to confusion.

We've been coming here for nearly 2 years..I ordered a chicken Jaipuri my partner ordered a lamb bhuna..The Jaipuri was a shocking food colouring deep red as shown.The bhuna was a gray tasteless base sauce.. absolutely no spices..The naan bread was tasteless also. We called up to complain and the tool said basically it's hot eat it.. You know what ya tool? I hope people read this and vote with their feet and go elsewhere. Your food was good and cooked with love, now it's as if it's been taken over by people who haven't got a scooby how to do even a base sauce. No more orders from us...:)

This place has been here as far back as I can remember. Last visited here almost 30 years ago and this visit was a nostalgic look back memory lane, even tho the people working have changed, the food is spot on. Highly recommend.

I used to frequent this place at least 30 years ago with my dad. Absolutely outstanding, probably the closest to traditional Pakistani home cooking. Amaizing, fresh and really well priced. The kids love it too.

Ordered aloo gosht, supposed to be proper desi food, they threw in baby potatoes into the curry skin on, the curry itself was bland lacked flavour come on guys!

i orderd online (£26) for home delivery. my postcode and address were on the drop down menu. after my order went through the restaurant phoned me to say they didnt deliver to my postcode. 5 dys later i am still waiting on a refund and have had to put it in the hands of my bank very disappointing

Got chicken pakora excellent. + lamb bhuna spicy this was absolutely delicious. Even better than usual this is the house best in my opinion.

Service was not so good, everything was thrown on to the table. As for the food, what can I say, I ordered Aloo gosht, when it arrived it was tasteless, it was like it was just boiled with some colour in it. Won't be back. Sorry.

Been going here for years. Can be hit and miss, depending on who is making your order. The last few times I've been in, the service has been terrible. 3 guys behind the desk, neither of them can take an order. Ended up walking out after 10mins after they couldn't tell me if my telephone order had been cooked or not! Would avoid from now on since the old serving crew have left this place has started to go down hill. Boss is oblivious with his head in the clouds. Needs an attitude check. It's v good.. All food good. But Cury pkora need to be more khata. Its not like home Cury... Use some kahtiii lasiii or yougrt then it will be great full.

The guys run this place extremely well. Pizzas are a must-try. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Even when busy, you're never waiting more than 15 mins. Long may you continue as you have done for 20+ years.

Ordered here for the first time. Phoned up and asked for a 16inch desi style chicken tikka, veg pizza to be ready for 8pm. When I got there pizza is not ready and they had to make it again! I asked for it be extra spicy. I am so disappointed with the pizza it was one of my worst pizza that I have EVER ordered. Pizza was tasteless, very bland and the toppings was very measly. So disappointed in the food and the service. Will definitely not be coming back

The wait is too long sometimes and its annoying

Lamb karahi I wait 42 minutes but the lamb very hard I order mix kebab I said no salad on the mix kebab but when I went home I saw salad on my mix kebab and very dry horrible food and I’m pretty sure this is the worst fast food takeaway in the area and poor service

Sadly the place has gone way downhill. The problem as I see it is the pre cooked food seems to be lying far too long on the counter. Samosas and pakoras that are meant to be piping hot and fresh taste bland because they've been sitting for days and then just shoved into the microwave. The donner tastes bland too. The seekh kebabs have no flavour. This was the top place in the city for authentic pakistani food bit someone in the management have taken their eye off the ball. Very sad.

Took over 30 mins for just chips and donner. Got told come back in ten mins I understand it was busy but then the guy proceeded to have my order ready but then take other orders rather than handing my food so can I take it and enjoy hot but he spent ages taking all the phone orders and customers orders while my food was sat ready and went cold and soggy. Won't return after this incident

I have been eating in yadgar for over 30 years. In my opinion, it's far the best curry shop in Glasgow for homestyle food I have tried many other places, but I always find Yadgar to be the best If you ever fancy some authentic homestyle rice and curry, give this place a try. Portions are plentiful

Fantastic food and very respectful and courteous staff. Suitable for families to eat in etc. Good tastes like traditional Pakistani cuisine, much better than any Pakistani restaurant in Glasgow. Chapli kebab are very good so was tikka in naan. Doodh patti also very good. Lassi was mediocre.

The Yadgar is the only kebab shop I go to. It's not near me any more but that doesn't matter. Shish kebab with white sauce on the meat with plenty of their fresh salad. I used to live round the corner and had a healthy take away diet as a youngster. Thanks Yadgar. Keep going forever 😍🌹

I got a takeaway here last March and it was the best Indian meal I ever had, delivered to my doorstep at the premier inn. I liked it so much we drove from Oban specially yesterday, so I could share the experience with my family. It’s impossible to order through the website using an iPad, so tried to phone and was told they didn’t have any drivers. We decided to go in and order a takeaway for 5. One of the best things used to be peshwari naan. We spent £70. We had various chicken, vegetarian curries and Kormas, plus vegetarian. The naan was truly awful, undercooked and looked like it had come from a factory (nothing like the picture on the website, which is how it used to be, it was also full of sugar and almost raw). Korma just tasted of sugar and the portions only contained a few pieces of meat. We received tiny plastic bags of rice, instead of the usual takeaway box. The chapatis smelt and tasted of raw flour. We had to chuck the whole meal and order a pizza. Shame on you!

Arguably best takeaway place on the city. That allows you to eat in as well.

Alhamdullilah. I have been visiting this Govanhill institution since I was 18 years old. I am now 32. Never been disappointed. In'shallah I revisit it soon.

Ordered my takeaway on Saturday and was told 15 minutes, when I arrived was made to wait 30 minutes and I could see me order being given to someone that just came in to get a takeaway, but the food was great.

Eat here on a regular basis and enjoy the courtesy of the staff, the huge variety of the food is freshly cooķed and served by the efficient and friendly staff.Nothing is too much trouble and takeaway boxes can be supplied if you feel that you can't finish your meal there and then.Great food , brilliant service at good prices. Look forward to next visit.

Nice tasty kebabs and good customer service

Exquisite food ranging from the biryani, vegetarian to the meat dishes. Reshmi starter is a go to. If your wondering why ive mentioned so much, its because i took a fair few tubs back home for the fridge.

Ordered a mixed kebab for collection, went to pick up my order after half hour, as was told it would ready by then. Got there to pick up my order, and they hadn't even put it on wtf . Yaadgar your food is decent and nice. But your time and service is absolute rubbish. Kebab not even put on for collection and it wasn't busy when I got there. All in all BS service .

When trying to order from the website it’s hard to use and not very organised then once we had the order I tried to pay but it was requiring me to sign in so I signed in but then it was asking me to confirm an email but it wouldn’t send an email for me to confirm. So I decided to phone the place for the order and the man bluntly said you have to order it online. So I eventually drove down to the place to order and after an hour wait the man practically threw the food at me and when I got home, part of my order was missing after all of that.

I visit Yadgar whenever I am in Glasgow city. I will make excuses to go for lunch or buy a carry out meal. My most recent visit was to celebrate Fathers day with my wife and sons and their respective partners and two grandsons. We ordered a large range of dishes which were all cooked fresh for us. As it was a special occasion I indulged myself and had fish pakora as a pre meal snack (LOL) then sikh kebab as my starter, both are well made, the pakora was crispy and well seasoned and the kebabs were well cooked but moist and flavoursome. I moved onto my mains and I had a Keema curry with a peshwari Naan bread. Again all fresh and delicious. I can easily award five stars to this restaurant the staff are helpful and the produce is well cooked and attractive. It is outwardly a Kebab shop with seating but "little gems are found in the smallest corners". The shop is never empty and if I have one complain it is that it can be too busy and the service slows to accommodate all of the cooking going on, but that is small price to pay for such good food. I am due back on Wednesday 30th of June and can't wait. Value wise we paid £98:00p for ten starters, eight mains and various breads plus copious amounts of soft drinks. working out at roughly £12:00p a head this was a good deal.

Absolutely amazing, authentic, fresh and very tasty. Lovely fresh creamy korma, with lots of juicy chicken and lovely fresh coconut, lamb Karahi spicy tender and fresh, lovely fresh chapati and beautiful light and fluffy naan. Veg biryani absolutely delicious. Really good value, nice friendly delivery driver. Ten out of ten.

The pictures and food were nothing like each other ... kids were excited but on receiving the food came home and gave it was very below average and bland food . Hated my mixed kebab didn’t ask for doner meat as pic shows nothing of the sort !! I throw in bin was awful . And the mince paratha had 2% mince and 85% oil with a little flour to keep it together. It was again binned . £49 for a meal half binned ! Do a favour and go elsewhere.

I was introduced to Yadgar by a friend of mine who’s family would originally be from Pakistan. I order food to take home around once every month and I live more than 20 miles away. It’s quite simple, if you want to try perfect authentic Pakistan food. Don’t go anywhere else. This place is an institution that I never knew about but had driven past for decades. I feel as though I’ve cheated myself!
