Zen Spice in Kettering

Arrived and was seated straight away (earlier than the time we'd booked). Drinks were served quickly, food was good but I think as we went mid evening, they weren't bringing out as much fresh stuff. The selection was very good though with plenty of different choices and the desserts were good too. Will definitely be going there again.

I was excited to try this but was disappointed when I did try. The food could have been better and the deserts were awful. We was also served our coke from a big bottle that you can buy from shops. The atmosphere wasn’t so good neither very quiet , music was old classical. Wasn’t all that.

They got my delivery order wrong (gave us extra rice instead of noodles) but I called up and they agreed to make a second trip to send over the noodles and let us keep the extra rice. Came really quickly and the food was good quality. Well done

Fresh, clean and hot. Best Chinese I’ve had from Kettering. Will definitely be ordering again! Update: second time ordering lady on the phone was polite made sure she got the order correct, arrived in good time, piping hot and tastes spot on. Definitely worth the price imo Honestly not sure there is a better Chinese takeaway in Kettering Thank you, zen spice

Specifically went for the all-you-can-eat Friday night buffet (£18.50) but disappointed. A wide selection of non-vegetarian dishes (lots of chicken dishes) but very few for vegetarians. Loads of carbs like noodles, rice, chips, garlic bread etc but only stir fried vegetables, a mushroom dish and seaweed otherwise. Where were the tofu dishes? I love chilli tofu, salt and pepper tofu, anything Thai etc. I’ve had takeaways from here before and had a good selection but I wouldn’t recommend the buffet for vegetarians or vegans. Also nothing was labelled (V) apart from garlic bread!! A good selection of desserts like cheesecake, mini profiteroles, no-alcohol tiramisu, banana fritters, and massive tubs of ice cream. Also, for 6pm it was quiet, which was good, but the food was barely warm. One disappointed vegetarian, but my meat-eating friends enjoyed their chicken, pork and duck dishes.

First time here .. eat as much as you can for about 20 ISH quid .. very good selection of food friendly and polite staff. Would go again

If I could give higher stars I would! Food was absolutely delicious, could only manage 1 plate of main and 1 plate of desserts but it was really worth it! Staff were very pleasant and great atmosphere, was on my own and felt really comfortable, not to mention air conditioning!! Definitely coming back!

Ordered for delivery, food was well prepared and nicely portioned with a great hot temperature to serve, as Chinese food goes it is what it is and I always order my favourites but this was delicious all round! Never been to the establishment but hope to some time, very pleased with the outcome and stuffed!

Quite cheap all you can eat buffet but food was not amazing.

Got a take away. It was edible but wasn’t the best Chinese. I wouldn’t go back. Chips were soo dry as if they’re from the day before, the sweet n sour sauce just didn’t seem right. Overall quite bland tasting!

Decent ish Chinese. Been in kettering a long time however feel it is getting too common like it needs a spark . Within the establishment staff was very friendly but at times seemed distant and took a while in a near empty restaurant to take plates

We went for the Friday night buffet at a cost of £18.90 each plus a drink on top. Food was cold tasteless and greasy. No pork on the ribs. Everything deep fried to within an inch of its life. Lemonade was flat (two litre bottle on the counter with the top off). Staff don’t engage with you. We tried to politely tell the gentleman when he collected our plates that our food wasn’t very nice and he laughed and said it’s not my job. Spoke to the manager at the till and she just waved the card machine at us. Shame because it used to be lovely but won’t be going back again. Other customers were voicing same concerns.

So we fancied a Chinese and came across Zen Spice. The handwritten sign showed Buffet for £18.90 per adult so we thought why not. We asked whether we could view the food on offer before we decided to eat, they were accommodating. The food looked good, so we settled for eating here. There was plenty of food options available however it soon became apparent that most of the food was deep fried.. it felt like a heart attack on a plate and unfortunately after a short period of time.. we lost flavours as all we could taste was that of a deep fat fryer. The food remained hot which was a positive and kept being replenished. There was good dessert options, tasty and not just the obligatory cakes that look different but taste the same. It was not the worst Chinese, however I would worry for my health eating here too often. The staff were friendly and attentive. The ladies toilets were clean and tidy. Overall, we would not rule out going back again however we would wait a while before going back again.

Food was average, batter on veg was not tempura and quite heavy and greasy. The rice was lovely, foo young was very dry and over cooked. Seaweed was full of sugar and oversweet. The service was really good and waitress was lovely, had a horrible greasy taste in my mouth for ages, really wanted to like the food as the staff were lovely but unfortunately the food was awful

visited on a Friday for the evening buffet. food is always top notch, never disappoints.. their spare ribs are off the chart...! ridiculously good.. the best in Kettering..

The food wasnt nice atall. pork was chewy, satay sauce tastes bland. the prawn toast tasted like bland burn crust, the soup was way too thick, the Malaysian chicken had the consistency of sick, stir fried veg was like eating sour socks the chips looked anemic, lemon chicken was like lemon curd, the fried mushrooms where greasy, Even the prawn crackers tasted funny. washed down with a glass of coke that was completely flat like the bottle was opened a week ago, not a trace of bubble left in it with about 4 slivers of ice cube. we both agreed to never ever eat there again. coming home i've been sick up the food I did eat so very dissapointed. waste of £40.

We went there for the buffet. It was ok, but not great. Staff were lovely and friendly, food was ok, with some dishes being incredibly dry. Drinks prices were very expensive though.

Normally a curry comes with a rice, but not from here. When you spend £40+ on a takeaway you would expect this.Spare ribs on the small portion side, curry (without rice) mediocre and sweet and sour just mediocre. Won’t be using again as plenty of better ones out there. Value for money 3/10.

First time in years. Hasn't really changed. Same nice atmosphere, same nice and friendly people. Same great food. Prices have changed but I still think its good value for money as everything is gone up.

Never been to this restaurant before, we were amazed at how nice it was. It looked amazing. There was plenty of fishes to choose from. It was a buffet style. Staff were nice send friendly and it was reasonably priced. Would go again one day. Really enjoyed it.

Can’t even leave NO stars I didn’t even want to give 1!! Absolutely awful customer service!!! We ordered on just eat at 1915 and the food was on its way to be delivered by 1930. It’s now 2100 and still no food. We contacted the restaurant 3 times to be spoken to by a very rude female who just didn’t want to listen to what we had to say and said it’s all just eats fault and we are to contact them!! When the food leaves the restaurant it has nothing to do with them, yet the driver went back to the restaurant and no one called us!!

Although you can proceed with an order for delivery on their website, they don't deliver at weekends. Waste of time.

Ordered chicken curry chicken was like rubber and loads of grizzel. Shredded crispy chilli beef was just batter. Chicken balls were just doe and little chicken inside which was like rubber avoid. New China best Chinese in Kettering I think so anyway

We have ordered here a million times. Always enjoyed the food. I for one always have Beef and Black Pepper. Received our food tonight 2x Beef and Black Pepper for my husband and myself. If you could count 4 pieces of beef in an almost 90% sea of just onions it would be alot. Hardly any other veg. No pieces of ginger etc. And if it wasn't bad enough not even enough sauce for the rice sent. So we had Onion Stir-fry with a Beef Garnish in a dry bed of Rice. I will not order again. Times are tough but the Restaurant are not cheap either, so this is unacceptable by any standard.

Really friendly people. Car broke down and I was stuck in front of kwik fit for ages so required the toilet and they let me use it without hesitation. Will come back to try your food!

I find this food tasty any nice, clean, delivered in good time, but the spare ribs are really very spare, no meat at all. Shame

Just had a takeaway from here and I must say it was the best Chinese I’ve had in a while, it was delivered quickly, very polite delivery guy and food was amazing. Would highly recommend and defiantly will be ordering again 5*

ordered from this place as the first time we ate was ok, this time the food was awful. When opening our food delivery all the food was at best to be described as tepid. Everything cold and you could tell they were selling pre cooked food with no consideration towards temp, quality and taste. No more custom from me.

Just moved to the area and got recommended to try this place and rightly so! Such great food and super quick delivery, absolutely love it. Have ordered on more than one occasion and it has been brilliant each time.

Just had a delivery. Was awful. Curry was tasteless. Just tasted of cornflour. Chips tasted like yesterday’s chips. Only thing that was nice were the prawn crackers and they were free. £34 down the drain. Never again!!

Always pretty quick, they've not reopened the restaurant since lock down, now they only do delivery, or pick up and when ever I've gone for a pick up it's always ready.

Order for 2 House special curry and chicken curry .I had the chichen curry one bite of the meat did not eat any more was disgusting , was not fresh tasted like it had been cooked 4 days early . My partner also did not eat any of his house special but the prawns were OK. Waist of money would never buy again and now have to dispose of this awful mess they call food

We ordered a takeaway from Zen Spice today. It was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. Chicken balls were just thick batter fried in old tasting oil and inside was dry, blue coloured, clearly cooked from frozen chicken. Sweet and sour sauce was pale in colour and watery with not much taste. Fried rice was dry and old tasting. Lemon chicken was more resembling pork covered in watery and dark lemon sauce. We will never go back, absolutely disgusting food I would not serve to my dog.

The worst takeaway i ve ever had. Arrived i 15 mins so obviously reheated. Very expensive for food that tastes like rubbish. I put it in the bin where it belongs

Just ordered a takeaway. Came within 15 minutes of ordering which says to me its definitely not fresh. Chicken balls were so so greasy with a slice of chicken inside them. The smell of greasy making you feel sick to even eat them. The special curry didnt even taste of a nice curry sauce. Very very over priced. 1 portion of chicken balls and a house curry egg fried rice and crackers £17.50. Definitely wouldnt recommend. Wish I ordered an Indian for abit more money

Can’t help but like this place....always feel decor could do with updating...but the food is good here with an excellent selection of Chinese/Cantonese dishes and few bits for little ones who don’t do Chinese! Choices include soup , ribs , duck with pancakes , rices , noodles and lots of different dishes plus dessert if you have room Reasonable price too

Came here 09/08/19, The outside and inside decor is not exactly inviting as in quite dated and tired looking. However the food was Quality in every way, all I ate was really lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive I would definitely return should I be back in the area.
