Broadway Fish And Chips And Chinese Takeaway in Kettering

We used to get takeaways from Ocean frequently as the food was good, consistent and tasty… not any more. We've tried twice since new ownership an each time the food was well below par. The fried rice tasted of the cheapest, re-used oil, the chicken in it was dubiously soft. Pork sweet and sour was mainly batter with a pea-sized piece of pork in an incredibly runny sauce with the generous offering of two bits of pineapple. During the night I drank 3 pints of water and had night sweats (MSG?). I won't be using again. They're also closed on Wednesdays and although they say cash only they do have a card machine. If you used t enjoy the food from Ocean I'd give it a swerve!

First time ordering from here as didn't realise they did Chinese food until leaflet came through the door. Hubby and kids voted Chinese for dinner on Friday eve. I decided to pop down and collect as it was quicker to do so. Greater by young lady and young man who were very friendly. They chatted to my little boy who was very excited about the decorative lucky cat. They gave him some sweets and offered to carry the food to my car for me so could hold his hand and help him into the car. Food smelt so good on the way home, and did not disappoint at all. We ordered a share box plus some seaweed, satay chicken and a beef curry with boiled rice and a chow mein. There was so much delicious food it was unbelievable! It fed 4 people for dinner and then lunch the next day for 3 people! Thanks again.

We have used Oceans for years. Suited us as they were a fish and chip shop plus Chinese and the food was excellent. They now have become a Chinese only and we ordered the mixed starters for 2, chicken curry and chips, chicken curry and fried rice and a mushroom foo yung. We have ordered this from here many times before, however yesterday was the first time we've ordered food since the change. NEVER again!! Mixed starter consisted of 2 skinny pieces of chicken on skewers lacking satay sauce. In the same container were 2 dried ribs more bone than meat. The spring rolls were minute as was the portion of seaweed however the prawn toast was decent but no dipping sauce provided. The chicken curries were watery, more liquid than ingredients, chips used to be proper chip shop chips but now are awful frozen skinny things. The fried rice was the colour of dark chocolate and not very pleasant. The biggest surprise was the foo yung as the egg mixture was bright orange!! More of a scrambled egg mixture with more peas and onions than mushrooms. Oceans was a lovely takeaway serving delicious food now it's nosedive. Will be looking for an alternative as won't be using them again, poor food, poor value.

Food has dramatically changed to good.. amazing customer service very nice from nice from start to finish. Definitely recommend now that it's under new management and the food is actually good.

Really like the new menu as it has loads of new products and really pleased with the service and food quality. Food was fresh and hot and everyone in the household was very happy to see this Chinese open again! Shame it’s not a chippy anymore but will definitely use again for a Chinese.

If you have ever been here before please stop now ! Obviously under new management and suppliers as the food quality, taste and everything that the previous owners gave in the way of service has gone ! Spent £26 on food that was only worth of the bin ! Chips were from Tesco, Satay was from a jar, ribs looked like they needed attention, curry was from a packet and the spring roll was half the size and looked like it was from the discount section of Farm Foods. Go yourselves a favour and order from somewhere else !

No Chippy anymore, however the Chinese food has Improved In my book by a long way.

i’ve being going here since a i was a little girl, i’m now an adult and it never disappoints☺️! the staff/family is so lovely very nice people. it seems everytime eat from there it tastes better each time i LOVE the food!! no chinese food place compairs to here it’s affordable & guaranteed to a good nights dinner 100/10 ❤️

Use to be my go to chippy, always fresh chips and red hot, tonight could not have been so different just scrapped the holding unit for all the old chips and Luke warm a mis match from about 2 or 3 Fry's, you have really let your self down! Will be going else were from now on, you have let yourself down!

Used to be amazing. They now use frozen chips. Tastes awful. Such a shame. They've been using frozen chips for past two months, gradually phasing them in. Really disappointed. They taste like cheap pub chips now. Will go to the one on London Road instead now for a real chippy

Good Chinese food, lovely fish and chips

With out a doubt, the best chow mein in Kettering (possibly Northamptonshire) by far Other dishes are just as delicious. Pricing far better than others too.

I liked it. The children liked it. The (ex)wife said it was too greasy. To be honest, the prawn toast was disappointing and the beef in black bean was too overpowering. The Singapore Chow Mien was beaut. I'd return to buy again.

A good sized portion of fish and chips and very tasty as well, all with friendly service. And they succeeded where others failed by being open at the time I wanted some.

Had a fantastic takeaway tonight, my friend and I orderd a beef and a prawn dish...it was ready in less than 10 minutes and was hot and freshly cooked, I asked for extra garlic and it was... side of chips had just come out of the fryer and was such a treat to enjoy .My first eat out for over 18 months, so worth it...and wasn't disappointed.. Well done and thank you for making a great catch up night even better. Need to add it was clean and very good covid practice was in place.

This place sets a minimum spend of £8 for card purchases which is against the rules for MasterCard and Visa purchases. Not impressed, so will not be returning.

Nice chippy offering Chinese dishes at good prices.

Stick to the English menu. Ordered Chinese meal for two (D) for the first time. Dishes were inedible; crunchy meat in the Happy Family, Lemon Chicken tasted like it was covered in lemon washing-up liquid and the Beef Cantonese Style was watery and tasteless. Most disappointing Friday night take-away in my life.

This is a brilliant takeaway shop. Friendly staff, costs very reasonable. I had fish and chips which were freshly cooked plus large portion. I cannot speak for home delivery as I visited shop. If you haven't used them well worth a visit.

Awesome. Don't be fooled by its dive appearance. Ordered the Cod and small chips. Before it was wrapped, the chef told me to salt and vinegar as I please. Hugh package, way more than I could eat. Cooked to order. I drove 13 Mike's to get there. Worth it. And cheap!!

Decided to opt for a Chinese takeaway this evening - but couldn’t decide where to get it from. Have been a bit disappointed recently with our usual couple of Chinese takeaways, so thought we would try this one. What a find - I had my favourite beef Cantonese style and my other half had the sweet n sour chicken balls - it was all delicious. I’m not normally a fan of chicken balls - too stodgy and no chicken - not this time - they were light and crispy and plenty of chicken. All the food was delivered piping hot and just within the hour time slot given - so another box ticked. Will definitely be ordering again and will try other dishes.

They were my absolute favourite, but when I ordered on Saturday there was half a bread roll in my bag of chips. How could they be this careless? Makes me feel a bit sick thinking about it now.

Average Fish ,chip and Chinese takeaway. Situated on the Broadway, Argyle Street corner. Always difficult to park near there. Usual menu to choose from, fish, sausage etc,etc. Seem to sell a lot of Chinese Food as takeaways from there so popular place. Bit scruffy outside, could do with a clean up.

One day brilliant, next day really dire. Chinese is usually very good, but recent pie and chips was apalling. A real taste of stale oil that was so bad the whole lot went in the bin. Way, wat better fish and chips locally.

Best Chinese in Kettering super food

My husband went to pick up pie and chips on Monday 29th january, our usual chip shop was closed hence the visit here, it was only when he got home and looked at what we had that we both were in shock (see picture) these were once beef and onion pies, when i got them out of the bag the lid of the pie disintegrated which revealed a dried up contents which looked like it had been left in the hot cabiinet for a week, there was even a tide line from where the meat and gravy used to be, honest to god even my dog turned his nose up, neither of us even attempted to eat this as both decided this it was an obvious health hazard. not just dissapointed as I was hungry but shocked that anyone would even dare to sell this to the public, the chips were ok and only because i was hungry. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Good for your traditional chippy food, and also has a chinese menu option. Which you can order from both if you choose. Sometimes ive found the chips to be greasy, but i suppose thats to be expected from fried food. Its not the best ive tasted but its also not the worst. And they also deliver if you cant get to them. Prices are average.

Ordered out last night and really enjoyed the food! Of great quality and price and a good bonus when the chips are of a chip shop quality. The phone service was ever so slightly daunting, the server could maybe use manners as not to offend anyone, but that nitpicking aside, the delivery turned up in half the time and came out with a lovely result.

Great place to get a take away from. Sometimes a wait as food cooked fresh. Mix English with Chinese. Lovely food.

Average cod and chips, average pie and chips. Shop has been there for as long as I can remember. Looks like the same decor! Not a lot more to say really.

I muse this Takeaway often and find the food extremely nice and the portion size is really good. Always piping hot when it arrives. One of the tastiest delivery services around.

Fish and chips or chinese takeaway, the food is always good, and you get a big portion of chips ! We live in Broadway and love having this convenient chippie on our doorstep ! Friendly service too.

Some times this place can be a little slice of chinese/chippy heaven sometimes a greasy tasteless take out :( when it's good it's great quality of the fish etc but when it's not its poor and this is the majority of the time.
