Back again after awhile.Still the same good bloody quality.keep the good good.

Absolutely the worst Chinese by far! Aromatic duck was mainly fat & only way to describe it smushy! Cucumber & onion wasn't fresh, Fried rice was reheated & the noodles seem to be days old, would never go there again!

Best take away in Stamford - consistently delicious food, really tasty, great choice and excellent vegetarian options. Really clean and super friendly staff, very popular with locals!

I was on my way back to Peterborough, passed by this Zen chinese takeaway at Stamford It's hidden at the corner at the junction between St.Leonards Street and Wharf Rd.Im so surprised with their food.A small Chinese takeaway can cook a proper Chinese food.Their satay chicken skewers are so authentic, grilled,meat rolls and duck roll are fantastic. The price is fair if compare to others Chinese restaurants or takeaway. The portion is generous too.The only problem is waiting for quite,due to their busyness .And to my surprise it was run by two lovely couple .Definitely will be back again.

Nice, clean Chinese with friendly staff but rice was very dry. We had prawn, chicken and egg and all were drier than what we are used to.

Ordering was a challenge as she couldnt speak English. Kept putting wrong stuff. Missed a rice off the order but couldn't be doing with the hassle of ringing back. Food wasn't great. Very bland tasteless. Rice strange. Driver was lovely though. All in all a poor experience

Best value and quality in town. Dishes were light (not oily) and veggies were very fresh. Very happy with our meal, best we've had from you.

The Kung Pao chicken was mind-blowing! Bit of sweet bit of savory and really nutty from all the cashews. It is such an aromatic and flavourful dish made excellent with kind service. :)

Card machine now in store. Menus by leaflets not the one on website as thats the old owners. Fast delivery which is currently cash only. Here is the current menu but is due to change in the near future.

Best Chinese we have had in years, all plates cleared in 1 go.

Currently 35 weeks pregnant and my craving throughout my pregnancy has been Chinese food, and this is honestly the best Chinese I’ve ever had, everything I ordered was an 11/10. Good portion sizes, great value for money, shop was clean and tidy, fast and friendly service, will definitely be ordering again.

We wanted a Chinese & we were in Stamford we’ve past this place 2 or 3 times a week but never stopped. We checked trip adviser & it was only because the last review was good that we tried it. Well just as well we didn’t listen to all the bad reviews as the food was really good. We had vegetables with cashew nuts & a great variety of veg. We had zen special fried rice these were really good we also had chicken balls they were nice but the portion was a little small. But will definitely be going back. Keep up the good food

We understand the poor historic reviews as we had a takeaway 3-4 years ago and it was watery and red tasteless. However it is now under new ownership!! They clearly have new chefs as since September 2021 all of our takeaways from here have been fabulous both food wise and the delivery times have been 30-45 minutes max. In Stamford. I would now highly recommend Zen - especially their Crispy Aromatic Duck!!

*NOT A VERY SPECIAL CHOW MEIN* Turned up early and piping hot which seemed positive HOWEVER... I genuinely could have/should have purchased a £1 microwave meal as I believe I would have had a more satisfactory dining experience. Zero flavour, Zero effort, Overcooked dry meat, and Stodgy noodles. Vegetables left to a size capable of winding a full sized badger if thrown at force. They do not take Card so had to obtain cash prior to delivery. (Annoyingly inconvenient, its 2021) Save your money.

The food from Zen is usually very good, but the takeaway meal we had last night was not good - not good at all in fact. The ribs were dry and seriously over cooked (almost burnt in fact), there was absolutely nothing special about the unusually greasy (and again over cooked) special fried rice and the chicken chowmein had very little chicken in it and even less taste! For nearly £50 it was poor value for money. Perhaps last night was a blip, we will probably give them another try, another time - but if it’s like that again we’ll be using somewhere else instead, which is a shame.

We rarely have takeaway and haven’t had Chinese for a long time so we were really looking forward to this. Sadly, the thought of it was much better than reality. We spent nearly £30 on a whole crispy duck but it was so dry we couldn’t eat it with the pancakes. Instead, we’re going to heat it up tomorrow with lots of gravy!!

Excellent food...1st time for Zen and we were not disappointed...all the dishes were cooked to perfection... definitely would order again...

This Chinese is amazing, I have been searching for REAL Chinese for two years now and finally found this gem. I have a feeling the bad reviews are competitors posting the comments. There is a reason this place is one of the oldest restaurants in Stamford. Because it’s great food

Tasty Chinese and a friendly service too

This used to be our favourite but our last takeaway was awful, dishes smelling and tasting of dishwater if there was any taste at all. We no longer use them, such a shame

Im not surprised this place has such low scores. Using ot for the first time last night and it was a large order for dinner for 7. Frankly every dish was disappointing, bland, tepid and didnt resemble the equivalent from other chinese takeaways. Not a very well spent £70. Next time will stick with what I know!

First of all when the driver arrived an hour later we got our food, and when we did we noticed that they had missed the black been sauce. That was strike one. And then we finally got the black bean sauce, we smelt the chips, chicken balls and prawn crackers and they smelt like sick. Strike 2. Then we tasted the chicken balls, chips, and prawn crackers, and to our Surprise the tasted like sick. And that was strike 3 Overall I wouldn’t recommend this at all because the food is Disgusting.

The food was ok. I understand different people have different tastes and therefore this may be just for you. However, it wasn't to my taste. There are plenty of Chinese restaurants to choose from and this wasn't my favourite.

Typical takeaway menu but this one scores low on finesse and taste. The ribs are worth a go but the rice was brown and tasted musty, the sauces bland and insipid, and portions aren’t as generous as elsewhere. Only 8 chicken balls? Did the delivery man lose a few? The major positive about Zen is the fact they deliver. Payment by cash only however.

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Waited 80 minutes for greasy flavourless dishes. The curry was less than half a portion. Ordered Singapore noodles which smelt & tasted like sick. Food delivered freezing cold, when tried to call takeaway because they had caller ID refused to answer call. I would not recommend this place, it was grotesque food.

Home sweet home feel like Chinese dishes. More than 50 dishes with reasonable price. If lucky enough, herbal tea, signature soup and home made wanton may be provided. Yummy!

Awesome friendly service and constantly good food, I recommend the satay, yummmm! They key for this place is consistency - never had a bad meal

Beef in black bean sauce was oddly sweet and spicy? Sweet and sour chicken barely had sauce and vegetable was raw. Sad because usually very good.

Greasy, not at all tasty and rather poor hygiene standards and government is literally overlooking the entire shambles. Trust me I have been around the work and I know exactly what I am talking about. Stay away!

Yo uso este para llevar regularmente ya que la comida es siempre recién preparado y sabe bien. Tienden a ser claros en sus especias chili así los platos no son tan caliente como me gustan, pero que está muy bien para mi esposa.También no usar un montón de sal o MSG, así que no tienes de que 'los dedos wollen dan a menudo de otros para llevar chino.Sólo he utilizado para la colección (no tienen mesas) y su estimación de la comida va a ser listo es perfecto, normalmente sólo llegar, ya he pagado por ello!

Sin embargo, normalmente uso una china nos alegramos de que nos arriesgamos y utilizamos este. . . . Teníamos nuestra entrega para llevar el cual fue hecho en una escala temporal razonable. . . Obviamente estaba recién preparado y de buena calidad. . . . Arroz frito tuve huevos y carne crujiente de chili verde que tenía varias guindillas en allí, lo cual fue genial. . . Louise tenía pato crujiente y el pollo satay brochetas. . . Buena comida, precios razonables y entrega lo usaremos de nuevo. . .

I've tried several Chinese takeaways in town and Zen is my favourite. Friendly staff and great food. I always collect, so can't vouch for how hot the food is on delivery, but I have eaten from their many times and never had an issue. Recommended.

Totally messed up the order . Despite specifically double checking that we wanted vegetarian food there was chicken in our soup and prawns in our noodles.

Excellent Chinese food, freshly cooked to order. I would recommend collection if you can, as delivery can be up to an hour or more when they are busy. The food is good value and the service always friendly.

Vinimos aquí después de un largo día en las pruebas de los caballos. El servicio fue muy rápido y la comida estaba muy buena. Tuve los rollitos primavera mini (carne) que eran realmente buenos. Las tostadas de gambas era buena y la sal y la pimienta calamares estaba bien...bien preparado, pero un poco seco. Compartí las bolas de pollo dulce y agria, estaban muy bien preparados, crujiente pero no seco o cocidas.

Just had food delivered...Not impressed at all.....No taste and not hot,barely warm.Never had egg fried rice like it, no egg and a very strange colour. Will not be recommending this restaurant.

Used Zen for a couple of years, found the food to be fresh and really good, not sure if they've changed hands but a combination of getting orders wrong and no real apologies the last 3 times I will not be returning! I can live with getting an order wrong once or twice but the handling of it was poor!

This chinese take away does not leave you feeling horrid the following day. There seems to be no MSG used here, a great option for those that have an intolerance. This is probably the only Chinese I know I can eat without feeling icky!

meal for two included dry spare ribs sweet and sour chicken balls chicken chop suey egg fried rice not the standard meal for two but it was no problem to change.i wsh they had refused the chicken balls were doughy and tough the ch op suey was taste less the dry ribs were that dry they were un edible a j mcallister Easton on the hill a former disgusted customer from excellent to atrocious in afew weeks in between orders

We grabbed a takeaway menu and tried Zen for a lazy treat. The service was prompt and friendly, and there was plenty of food. We would choose differently if we choose again and go for curries and steamed veg.

We use this Chinese all the time the food is always fresh tastes great gets delivered hit the staff are always friendly on the phone or in the takeaway and prices are reasonable

Just ordered food, they took an hour to deliver, we had to call up the lady to ask where it was, and was rude on the phone, it finally arrived the delivery man was also rude, they got a dish wrong, putting veg in the noodles when I asked for non & 75% of it is beansprouts and onions, rest of the food was slight warm, rang up to say the dish was wrong she tries to say we lied and didn't ask for no veg, so now we're waiting for our noddles and the rest of the food is now freezing cold. disgusting service will NEVER use these again.

Very disappointed with my meal that I had delivered. Spring rolls were soggy and tasteless, the house rice had no sauce and was so salty it ended up in the bin with the rest of my order. Sadly Zen has go down hill.

This was my first visit to this takeaway and I was extremely disappointed. I ordered egg fried rice which was fine but the beef in black bean sauce was so sweet I could not eat it. I often have this dish and it has never had sugar in it before. Although I know dry spare ribs are supposed to be sweet these just tasted of sugar and did not have any real flavour.

Ordered a take away on a friends recommendation, and it didn't disappoint. Delicious, hot food, prompt delivery, and authentic taste. Fantastic! Will definitely be ordering again. People of Stamford you need to give this Chinese a try, beats all the others hands down.

The best Chinese we have had for years. The chef is certainly talented. Love the fact they use no MSG so I don't drink a gallon of water after. The duck noodles were amazing. Great value too.

A few of us decided to ordered the set menus that Zen have on their takeaway menu. I was not disappointed, veg rolls, chicken balls, beef noodles and egg fried rice for all under £8 and that was just for one person.We ordered our takeaway to be delivered which was just outside stamford and was on time.I highly recommend Zen, will most certainly be ordering again.

A good place that gives great food from a good menu and well priced.Zen is run by a young husband and wife team, its slightly off the main town center but its well worth tracking down.I love their set meals, well sort it as well
