I only had soup and egg fried rice but I enjoyed it a lot.

I came to a Chinese restaurant to eat Chinese food today. There were dozens of friends gatherings. Everyone was very happy that we could have a try. I think we can come to this Chinese restaurant to eat. We can come straight to eat. The food is fresh. My team said that the service attitude is very good. I like him 👍👍👍

I could not rate this place more highly if I tried food was incredible price was absolutely perfect and seated 13 of us the waiter couldn’t do anymore he was so attentive and helpful the nicest thing about it is the food is all you can eat but cooked fresh as you order rather than rows of hot plates By fair the BEST in this area! We will definitely be back before too long

This restaurant is great , me and my family came here for a diner and the prices were very cheap. The servers were polite and the food was delicious.

Very poor customer service. We’ve been 4 adults an a child. No body explained us what’s what. After we’ve been given the starter menu list. The overall waiting time for the food was around 45min which is unacceptable for a bufet style serving. Also dishes for 4 are more like dishes for 2 people. I would avoid at all cost.

4 of us came here on the evening of Saturday 7th September (I am writing this whilst still sat here) We were sat at 1930 as per booking, it’s currently 2120. In this time we have had starters. Had to ask for the main menu. Mains took 20mins to arrive with the order being incorrect and another 10 minutes to fix there mistake. Food was small portions and absolutely no flavour. Wine tastes gone off and when replaced still tasted the same. The only reason I have given 2 stars for atmosphere as there was a group that were clapping. I have been here a few years ago and couldn’t fault it. I would not come here again and would not recommend it unless you want to wait 2 hours to eat a portion size of an anorexic pigeon.

What a lovely food would come again lovely staff and the special young ladyed Kim was Absolutely excellent . The chef come to see us will be tell people in oakham . Thank you for a great night see you soon xx

Lovely freshly cooked food, very busy on the day we visited but staff remained very polite, professional and service was still spot on.

If I could give 0 stars I would - service/timescales were appalling. Ordered long list of sharing starters for table of 9 to be given 3 tiny plates of food. Then waited 45 minutes for more starters, which were brought out randomly 1 by one. Staff no clue what was happening. Mains was no better, half the order missing - curry dishes brought out then rice 15 minutes later once food was cold. Arrived at 5:30pm, didn’t leave till 9. If it wasn’t a 50th birthday occasion would’ve walked out. Don’t waste your time - eat elsewhere. Never again!

Booked china moon for my daughter surprise birthday meal. Nothing was explained to us how the all you can eat works. Starters came out slow. Then we sat, sat and sat until I asked if we could order mains. Order taken incorrectly so had to share food that would cater for 5 people instead of 11. It's a shame a food was spot on but will not be returning unfortunately 😕 Reason for delay of food was due to kitchen staff shortages

We went to this restaurant last night to celebrate my son’s 17th birthday. We have been a few times before and had a great time, unfortunately it seams that there has been a change of ownership and it’s really gone down hill. We were a table of 9 and the starter came out to feed 4 people, we asked for more and after waiting 1.5 hours we decided to leave! Everyone in the restaurant had the same experience! I will not be visiting again.

First visit & won’t be the last! All you can eat — order from the menu. Food was so fresh & tasty, good portion sizes, amazing service & very well priced. We were told it’s just gone under new management & I wish them the best of luck — keep up that standard of food & you will definitely succeed! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This restaurant has served me the best chinese that I've ever had ! The staff served me immediately and catered to any issues I had , the food was great and the interior design felt very unique with terracotta statues and lanterns as light shades. Although the exterior may be discouraging , it should not be any reason to stop anyone from coming in!

My first time here at this Chinese restaurant was amazing. The food here was the best I ever had and the staffs’ service was excellent . Although they are sometimes busy , give them a little bit of time and they will still help out perfectly. Highly recommend visiting here.

Have not tried the food as we were told they are fully book. But will never come back again due to the external surrounding area looks like a dumping area that you feel not safe.

We booked a reservation for 7pm, we arrived at 6:50 there was only one other table occupied. Within 10 minutes 5 other tables came in. We were asked if we wanted drinks around 7:10 and then waited, they took our starter order at around 7:30 and at 8:10 we had a single bowl of soup delivered. There were other tables complaining and talking about the timescales and service. Other tables were on the there 2nd courses. Because of this I went to the desk and paid for the 2 Pepsi max pints that we had (£7 for 2 pints) and left. I have been to the China moon many times and always had a great experience. I think it is under new ownership and not sure that we will be back after this experience. Such a disappointment 😞

So this place use to be our go to for date night, but unfortunately has now been taken over and has gone down hill massively. After booking a table we got ignored by one of the servers who decided to seat other people who had just walked in behind us. They also openly admitted they don’t know what they’re doing and needed guidance from other customers. Long waiting times, food was tasteless, water was warm and the soft drinks came out of a bottle on the side. Such a shame.

Was advised to go here by the Travelodge receptionist. We would not have seen it otherwise. It is hidden beside a petrol station and, apart from the actual entrance, it is a boring looking box with small sign by he A1, just past the BP. Inside it is decorated as you might expect a good chinse to look It was busy, it was a Sunday evening. The staff were friendly. They offer a buffet style meal - you order from the menu as much as you want The food was tasty, and reasonably priced Wish it nearer to where we live

Visited 18/7/24 with group of friends for the all you can eat buffet. Great selection of food altho not a traditional self service buffet. You order from a menu and the dishes are freshly cooked to order and keep coming until you have had enough. All for £17.50 , I think it's a little more at the weekend . We normally just ask for a selection of starters, ie chicken sate skewers , seaweed ( OK cabbage!) Chicken balls, ribs, prawn toast ,crispy salt and pepper chicken, some sweet coated chicken, spring rolls, samosa type things etc etc. Then we had crispy duck followed by our choices of mains. I had egg fried rice, Hong Kong style king prawns and king prawn curry. There was a great choice . We had 2 people with shellfish allergies and a vegetarian and their food was kept seperate. I can really reccommend it. If you decide to try it and i hope you do, when approaching the restaurant on the A1, turn as if you are going to the petrol station otherwise you will drive straight past and its a pain to drive to the next turning and retrace your steps !!

Phoned to see if they do delivery as i dont drive, it was less than 2 miles but not an easy walk , . Rude man on the phone just said NO, and put the phone down before i could ask anything else.

Absolutely love this Chinese restaurant, it’s a no fuss all you can eat! But the food is exactly how you would want a Chinese!

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the area and Grantham! I have lived near here for 25 years and the food is great and remains so. Other restaurants in Grantham have changed and got worse, but they continue to excel. Very good value for money, especially the all you can eat menu. As long as everyone in the party follows this option, you can do it. You can choose as many starters as you want and then once “startered out” move onto duck and then the main courses if you feel like it. You can’t go back once you have moved on a course. The atmosphere is good and the beers cold. Good service. Best to book.

If your not in a hurry this is the place to go. Starters took two and a half hours mains some were amazing delivered before the starters. Staff at breaking point but food when it did arrive was excellent

Had 3 visits, each time food has been really good. Recommend booking in advance. All you can eat buffet has a huge range of choice. Fizzy sort drinks are out of a cheap bottle and cost £4 each but alchol (beer bottles) are OK.

What's a strange place for a restaurant. On the busy A1. All you can eat at a set price . Service ok and food ok but nothing special.

Never been before but friend recommended it. We arrived and we were greeted and seated. Order for drinks taken and gave us a little time to choose our starters. Unfortunately not the quickest in getting them out 50 mins and then to top it off they got our table and table next to us mixed up with items on the plates. This then ment we had to wait even longer for our starters. They did give a drink on the house but personally think a discount on the food would of been more forgiving and for us to return. Such a shame but do not think I will be returning after the delay and confusion of our order with other table and how long we had to wait when other people after us were getting their food! This should not happen!!

First visit to China Moon -Arrived 5.30pm by 6.00pm the place was full & buzzing. Good News!- starters all good, order as much as you want! I had Hot & Sour soup to start, which was excellent, flavourful & full of prawns. also Chicken Satay, Prawn toast, Pork ribs, Shredded Duck with pancakes & plum sauce, Mini Spring Rolls, Seaweed (of course actually chopped fried cabbage in every place I have ever been) all really good. My grandchildren also had Chicken Balls (they liked them, but not to my taste- fairly bland). For medical reasons I can no longer eat massive amounts, so grazing was great for me. When the other 3 adults & 2 children shared several mains with boiled rice, & noodles, I picked at those, all very tasty, a couple fairly spicy, (Chinese curry & Prawns with chilli) So all good. The staff were friendly & efficient! Just a couple of things that stopped me giving a top rating- 1. Chips were ordered for the children but did not arrive. The very busy waitress was asked to chase them, but by the time everyone had finished eating they never arrived. ( I know there should be a law against serving chips with Asian cuisine, although I have in the past enjoyed "af 'n' af" rice & chips in a Cardiff Indian restaurant! ) 2. The Gents toilet, while clean, could do with an upgraded hand dryer. The current tired model takes about 15 minutes to dry hands sufficiently. Not relevant to the quality of the food, but (I hope! ) useful advice. The China Moon is off the Northbound lane of the A1. anyone coming south from Grantham direction needs to come off at the Colsterworth exit, cross over the bridge & re-enter A1 northbound. The access to China Moon car park is through the PETROL STATION forecourt IMMEDIATELY after you get back onto the A1. If you miss it you will have a frustrating drive to get back again!

It was my 60th Birthday so decided to get the family together and go to China Moon - I’d been before and really enjoyed it so thought I’d introduce the family to the delights of the China Moon all you can eat starters and main courses - fantastic, no regrets and I think I’ve converted some family members to go in the future - great food and great value - thank you again China Moon

Service was atrocious, we waited 1 hour for starters. They obviously need more staff especially on busy nights. Didn't stay for mains as it was getting too late. Don't think we will visit again.

This little gem of a resturants was beautiful loved the decor and the food was amazing nice and hot and always freshly made not one single fault about this place I have returned since and I shall continue to bring family and friends here my new venue to go to when we all have family meals.

The food was great basically all you eat the food was hot and tasty. Plenty of choice I would recommend lots of starters

Beautiful service , food was amazing, parking was available and staff was very friendly.

Had 2 plates of starters and then mains. All served hot, very tasty and when paying it is really good value. Love the small plates as very little waste for them and a very satisfying meal for us.

Great food - proprieter a bit surly on collection though.

Located just on A1 ideal for stopover to grab some food but not like a quick bite as the service can be slow! But the food is good and it's cheap as well compared to other places we have been to.

We ordered a takeaway at the counter and expected a wait with it being a busy Friday night. There was no greeting from the owner just took our order, thrust the card machine at me and spoke to the next customer. His attitude to the staff was appalling and if he’d spoken to me in that manner I would’ve walked!! He had the same attitude to telephone orders too. Although he did apologise for the delay and half heartedly wished us a nice evening. Upon opening the takeaway the portion sizes were very poor and one dish was very bland. There was next to no veg just onion in them. I didn’t see any egg in the egg fried rice and the spring rolls were minute!!

Price was very reasonable and we enjoyed the food. We were checked on regularly to make sure we were happy and if we wanted anything else. Would return.

I got the Singapore fried rice and it was outstanding, better than I have had anywhere at home (Scotland) it was a takeaway I got as I was running out of time and had to find somewhere close to park my truck and it was made in time for me to do this, will definitely be back 👌

Really surprised by this place, driven past it many many times but always poopooed it. Decided to swing in for a bite to eat after driving from the South and whilst we weren't massively impressed with the outside don't let that fool you!! The staff were lovely, she genuinely cared about her customers happiness! The food was phenomenal and all piping hot! Would lose a star as it took half an hour for our main course to come out. However it was a Saturday night and you could tell that the takeaway side was really busy! £20 for all you can eat and a pint of ginger ale... We'll be back!

Just drove past here on the A1 looks like death and doesn't look appealing to go inside and eat.... weather it tastes good that's another question?? McDonald's is opposite il go there thanks.

Fabulous restaurant with great food and fabulous service. There is a special menu for £15.50 from Sunday to Thursday which you can order any number of starters and then they take your order for any number of mains for the party. Great idea, it saves you ( over) ordering everything at the same time, so avoids food waste. We were initially worried about the location at the side of the A1. We soon suppressed our snootiness and appreciated once we were in the decor and furnishings were perfectly in tune and offered a comfortable relaxing oasis of calm. Service was so friendly and efficient. We ordered exactly the right amount, the dishes were exactly the right size to enable you to try lots of different dishes without feeling that you had to be rolled out afterwards! We had a mixed horsdoevres for 2, crispy duck and pancake, then a selection of 3 main dishes plus a rice dish. We drank bottled Chinese beer which was perfect with the food.

How have I never been here before?! Don't be put off by some of the negative reviews on here. Absolutely fantastic food & all you can eat. Took some relations & friends who were visiting from France & they were really impressed. We were able to order a wide selection that everyone could then share so our French friends could try things they had never experienced before. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty & beautifully presented. Yes the car park is a bit tired & yes the fish tank needs a clean out but why should that mean a lower review.

Went with my husband and 2 children last night, hands down the best Chinese I have had. Amazing service, staff couldn’t do enough and were very attentive and professional and there wasn’t any food that wasn’t enjoyed. Brilliant value for the quality. Don’t be put off by exterior!

Ordered a spicy chicken satay takaway but I have to say it was absolutely tasteless and no spice..in fact I don't know how you can actually make food so bland. Very disappointed!

Best Chinese by far. All you can eat but cooked fresh to order. The variety of dishes is extremely good and they cater for all. Brilliant with children also making it a relaxed and pleasurable meal.

I ordered a take away after not visiting the restaurant at all during Covid. The quality of the food is now awful. The king prawn curry had watery sauce, no vegetables except a mass of onion to bulk it out. The Singapore chow mein had 2 pieces of beef (that's all) and again and no vegetables except onion. Sweet and sour sauce was as thin and watery as the curry sauce. The food was poor quality with only the cheapest of ingredients. I won't be going there again that's for sure. It was a complete waste of money.

Having heard about a order eat as much as you want sit down buffet. We decided to have a run out of Leicester to Grantham. We rang to check availability and arrived to find the restaurant already very busy. We were seated and ordered our drinks and decided on which started we each wanted. Spare ribs with BBQ sauce. Chicken satay squewers. Crispy pancake rolls. Yuk sung. Chicken & sweetcorn soup. So plenty of choice and we enjoyed them enough to reorder some of them several times. Then it was time to order some main dishes vegetable fried rice mushroom fried and pineapple fried rice all of which were very good. I went for king prawn curry a chicken curry and smoking dragon which was chicken and king prawns in oyster sauce I like a dish of vegetables so ordered stir fried bean sprouts. A mixture of seafood and pow choi a celery type vegetable in ginger was also ordered.plenty of nicely presented piping hot food was delivered to our table. The meal was finished off with floating coffees. With drinks our bill worked out at about £22 per head. Which for a sit down Chinese is really reasonable! It was a chance to try new dishes but We ordered food that at least one of us liked so to ensure there was no waste!

Actually ate fine for vegan food but those fish have a bloody hard life I reckon they need a clean and the tank probably needs to be more than a litre of water in it.

Our first visit to the China Moon. We found the staff very helpful and the service very good. The food was great tasty well cooked and hot. Plenty of choice on the menu. They do need to put more water in the fish tank as the amount of water in it is cruel.

Great atmosphere and even greater food !

The China Moon was awesome I highly recommend it most nights its eat all you can off the menu for £14.99 it's a steal. The food is top notch real delicious the food came out about 5-6 minutes after ordering from the waiter so that was really good too.

One of my favourite restaurants, excellent food

We had no idea where to stop and eat on the A1 and by chance found this on an A1 where to stop and eat website. Glad we did as it was Friday night and we didnt fancy anything from a 'services' This busy place seemed to have a regular local takeaway clientele and we were not surprised - the good they served was simply superb. Wish we lived nearer!!

Visited following a recommendation from the owner of our weekend stay. The staff were friendly and courteous, like most places we visit we find waiting staff reflect how we communicate with them. The food was cooked to order, fresh, hot and tasty. The menu had an array of choice from appetisers to main meals and a dessert menu if you have room left. We enjoyed our visit and will definitley be back if we visit the area again in the future. Thank you.

I've known this restaurant for some time now for 20 years . My mum who is 82 was going stir crazy with the lockdown and things and ask if I could take her to a restaurant, so I decided the china moon as its near where we live. The restaurant in lockdown changed with new owners, and this would be for me to taste the food from new owners and omg ! I cant describe in words , but I will try my best . So when me and my mum first got there, the Chinese man at drinks bar reception was not polite at all signed us both in and took us to a table that was dirty (not properly wiped down) my mum wanted the fillet steak at £12.50 but with no veg or chips so I ordered a steamed veg portion and some chips to accommodate her meal. some honey and lemon spare ribs as a starter . myself I ordered a house curry with rice. The spare ribs was warmish with 75% fat 25% meat on them Yuk! my mums meal was braising steak not fillet and it was as tough as a sole of a boot, her veg was warm and had been cooked from frozen, the chips was cold greasy and rank. my curry seemed like a big bad boy pot noodle you can buy at any super market. the Chinese lady who served us did not say nothing to us at all, not even Hi or hello. I have been to Chinese restaurant's all over the united kingdom and this is the worst and most impolite one I've been to Ever!!! sad really because only 2 years ago it was a good place.

Food was okay. The service, however, was appalling. Delivering and taking dishes away without so much as please or thank you is just plain rude. Never asked if everything was okay. The restaurant was empty, but had to wait 30 minutes to order. I have visited before, but this service was so bad I will doubt I will ever darken the door of this unfriendly and unwelcoming establishment. For others, it okay.ifbyou like average food and being treated as if you don't care otherwise it might be best avoided
