Zauq Buffet in Birmingham

We had a great time here. Since have been in Birmingham for years now, it's been so hard to see any buffet restaurants, I am glad we came to Zauq. I wish they add sushi to their menu, it will be prefect!

Ambience is good but compact, more space would have been ideal. Upstairs was almost vacant but people were made to wait to be seated. We waited for an hour to be seated on a Sunday night. Food was fairly good, options were also lesser than the restaurants of the similar range. Taste was good.

There was plenty of food, chicken tikka didnt taste like any tikka I've had before, wasn't for me

Food is not what it used to be. It used to taste like desi well spiced curry’s , now it’s bland. Drink options are poor, a few times it was something different . The staff are friendly but food is a disappointment. Lamb chops dry , one of the chef is quiet rude seems angry most times.

A great buffet with so many dishes and live cooking too - including lamb chops, tawa chicken and even stir fry noodles (which was delicious and freshly made for you based on your spice preferance and toppings)! Starters and main course had so much variety (including halwa puri and a chinese food section too), and I loved the desserts selection too! Unlimited soft drinks within the price. Great lively atmosphere, good seating and table service is very efficient and quick. I would say it is worth the price (£20pp on weekends).

Since last 3 year I always go zauq it's nice food but weekends 20 pound per personal not good always food been same for long time should add more quality item

Thought the price of the buffet was too good to be true. We eat out a lot but this place was really not good. Food quality absolutely shocking. Now have a stomach ache. Really poor quality curries and oily starters. My children could not even eat their favourite dish chicken karai. So watered down and just awful. Spend a bit more money and get a nicer curry!!

Upon arrival me and my family were greeted and seated, the food is absolutely amazing. I had 3 plates of food and dessert, waiter/waitresses and staff were very efficient with their work and kept up with cleansiness, there were no lacking of plates and cutlery. I will definitely be back here again, I like the price as it included drink refills £18 for adults £8 for children so well worth the price and better than ming moon .

The food was amazing. It was so tasty and nice. I really enjoyed all the dishes. Varieties to pick from. The ice cream was top notch. Will surely visit again

For many years, zauq and Star City have been like a pit stop for our family whenever we travel to London from Preston from M6 as we are a frequent traveller. Reasonably priced as compared to others in B'ham and Manchester and food is of top quality. They are the only place where you get bottomless drinks, whereas other places charge for them. special mention to staff. From booking lady to chef behind the counter are so kind and always have a smile. Running staff are very attentive to clearing the table and floor, as soon as kids drop food. Foods get refilled in small batches so you find it fresh always. My favourite is Live noodles bar Nihari, tawa items. , chops, fish and deserts.

They had takeaway option but the person refused to give takeaway. Understand it was busy but then don’t set the expectation. I am sure you are doing delivery through Uber etc.

I'm not sure why lots of the people in the reviews are angry. This is a really nice buffet, been multiple times. The food is AMAZING and one thing I definitely recommend trying is the wok, you do have to wait for a chef to go over to the wok station but the short wait IS ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. People in the reviews seem to complain how the workers look "grumpy", like you can't just expect someone to be all happy go lucky all the time, people have their own lifes and maybe they are going through something! Anyways Def go here 😁

Very nice decor with the center pice in the ceiling and also the smaller booths on the sides. Seating upstairs is okay as is main area downstairs. Had someone in wheel chair with us and there was no loft to get them upstairs so are group of 13 we're disjointed and spread between upstairs and downstairs. We did eventually get to sit together downstairs when we got to desserts. It was very congested at times. Service was lack lustre as you would find your self waiting to be noticed so you could ask someone to serve you some of the specialty dishes or you were competing with another diner to get the last few chops being served or competing to be heard. Should be like this. Also found dishes that were not complete for example there was chickenless chicken biriyani or lamb dishes with very little lamb and predominantly large amounts of fat,bone and bouncy gristle. I get you need this for flavour but when you bowl if full.of this and it becomes the main component of what your eating then this is off-putting and very unpleasant. Shame because were the meat was present in some of the dishes then it was very tender and well cooked. Desserts were okay again nothing great. Need to enhance flavours on your rasmalai and kheer with some nuts or saffron or something. Mithai was not that great. Gulab jamuns again missing something like a hit of cardamon. Drinks were okay but had to wait a very long time to get a glass. Waiters were few and were either not bothered or tired and over worked and I think it is the later. We did arrive at around 20.00. I didnt get to try every single thing and stayed away from everyday food like pizza,nuggets chips which is what kids and non adventurous people will tend to gravitate towards. Sauces Station a great idea but lacked in flavour or distinction. Plates need to be bigger in my opinion given its a buffet restaraunt and your given a starter plate. Overall flavours were okay but nothing stood out or was wow. Unfortunately another buffet place that falls into the trap of jack of all trades and master of none. There was some dishes that were okay. There was a noodle station but noodles looked over cooked to me. Only noticed athe one chinese dish which was chicken in black bean and actually it was pretty good. I have a feeling the first services of the day may be better when staff energy levels and attentiveness is more fresh and on point and dishes are just prepared and stocked. I think this place struggles when busy as would any other restaurant of this size and its ambitious menu but this is the true test if any well established restarunt. I would definitely consider coming again to try dishes that I missed and to also see how the experience is when it's not so busy but I am in rush. Thankyou

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zauq Buffet and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service provided by the staff was impeccable and friendly. The ambience at Zauq Buffet was top-notch, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhanced the overall dining experience. Lovely experience...food in point

We went to this place after being recommended by my husband's friend. We went during the week day and I was expecting it to be quiet but it was busy. Despite being busy, we were greeted by very pleasant staff and were seated within 1 minute. The food was fresh and delicious. There was also variety. There were also plenty of desserts to choose from. The inside was very nicely decorated and clean despite being busy. The service was exceptional with the waiters quickly picking up any used plates from the table. Will definitely be coming back to this restaurant in the future.

This restaurant is finished when it comes to food and service, the quality of food is a joke, so oily, spicy and overly fried, it has beyond lost their charm they had many years back, whether it’s under new management or they have lost dedicated staff, everything from entrance onwards was a disaster, the young staff at front desk are so rude as if it’s their dads restaurant, firstly we are paying customers, so don’t give attitude as if we’ve rocked up to your house for free meals, i was happily ready to slap her right, then you enter and how packed it was, took about half an hour to a actually reach the food, understaff for sure specially when waiting for the nihari, and other food items, then the quality, I know it’s a buffet, but literally the taste of the food was so bad, but the oil used is even worse, then the youngster staff which were rude, I honestly will never come back, there are many better buffets in Birmingham which will have better food, friendlier staff creating a much better experience. Do not waste your money here.

We went yesterday for a relatives birthday ,keep in mind he is 2 and in a high chair, and we were placed directly at the entrance even when asked to be moved. One of the workers there was constantly standing at our table trying to pressure us to leave. Everytime the baby would drop even the minorest of things, they would clean it straight away, which you would think was good service. It would be if they didnt complaign about how much mess we made along side it. More and more workers came and pointed and talked. They made us feel that uncomfortable, one of the people with us didnt hsve desert! At the end of our dinner, we asked for a manager and the lady ,which we asked, started defending the workers saying that it wws because we had desert? That comes with the meal. After a while the manager did come. After 20 minutes. And started to say that they did so because we stayed for over and hour and a half. That isnt true. We were there for an hour at max. And even if that was true, why were the workers there from the start? To add, the food was mediocre at best and a lot of it was undercooked. To think of it, I saw somebody tell the worker that their food was undercooked and the worjer had the audacity to tell them to leave with no refunds or etc. Overall would not come back to the place unless the workers go through deep training or replaced. Worst experience in a Desi buffet ever! Chaotic , busy small space to eat and sitting is horrendous.

Food was all cold n hard .. the butter chicken tasted the worst. They dont serve fresh roti or naan its all readymade packed roti or naan they serve without butter/ghee.

Finally I found a best buffet place in Birmingham. Quality of food is best. Good atmosphere. Staff is also good. Zauq Restaurant is in Star City.

Food is low quality. chef doesn’t know the difference between lamb and sheep… Waste of money TBH. Service was okay thou but never going to visit this place again. Thanks

Nice environment, tasty food but when we were dining, I was about to drink out of a glass they provided and noticed it had a lipstick stain on it which is very unhygienic. This means they didn't wash it properly so I suggest they wash properly. Also, some of the plates had chipped corners.

I like most of their items. Sitting was very good and the atmosphere was cool and clean. At 20£ it's very economical. I really prefer to visit again.

We were recommended Zauf Buffet by a friend, and it did not disappoint at all. We went for lunch, and the restaurant had a great variety of food, which was much better quality compared to other buffet type restaurants. Everything tasted fresh and was flavorful. The decor and service were really nice as well. Overall, it was reasonably priced for the whole experience, and we would definitely recommend it and visit again.

A good place for Halal buffet with plenty of food variety, something for someone, curries are average in taste.

Always a delight been a lot and never disappoints staff are always polite on entrance and the staff inside always ask if it's ok to remove plates when finished with a politeness .always given the seats we like if available !! 5 Star from US .

The best Pakistani restaurant in Birmingham

Used to like this place and come often, now after a while just visited and was a big disappointment. Lamb chops and Namkeen ghost was enjoyable, but need to improve recipes (fish,haleem,nihari) and customer service for sure!!

Food options were good. A lot of the food reminded me of nawab (another buffet restaurant) I particularly liked the lamb chops, wings and the strictly/chowmein station. decor is amazing but we were sat next to the kitchen so it was busy with staff walking up and down. Also there is no space for a buggy so you are asked to leave it at front. no issue for me but it could be for people with small babies.

I absolutely love this place for food. A lot of dishes stand out to be the best. Paya, liver, rasmalai are a must try and taste heavenly. Free drinks is what attracted me the most. Service however is not their strong suit, the staff are rude and unprofessional would need improvement in customer service.

Awful a bug was sitting on the top of the pizza, and the staff didn't give a dam... Nice service.

For a buffet place I was mildly surprised. It was decent, I don't normally go to buffet restaurants but this one has a decent variety 80% of the stuff I tried was nice the other 20% needs work, mainly due to it being dry and flavorless.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zauq and I must say, their buffet system is simply awesome. The variety of both veg and non-veg dishes is impressive, catering to all preferences. As someone who mostly enjoys non-veg foods, I was delighted with my experience. I started with a selection of salads and delicious fried items such as samosas, spring rolls, french fries, chicken pakoras, chicken wings, chicken chapli, chicken dry lollipops, and aloo bhajiya. Each item was freshly prepared and full of flavor. Next, I indulged in mutton chops and harees, which were both exquisite and truly satisfying. Despite feeling quite full, I couldn't resist trying the array of sweets on offer. The gulab jamun, kheer, seviya, and gajar halwa were all delightful. Additionally, there was a good variety of cold drinks available. Unfortunately, I couldn't sample everything, but the buffet also included biryanis, mutton kadahi, chicken kadahi, puri, kheema, bheja fry, as well as vegetarian options like bhindi, palak, pasta, and cheese pizza. There were even pastries to choose from. Overall, the satisfaction level was incredibly high due to the delicious foods and excellent service. The allotted time of 1 hour and 30 minutes to dine was ample, and at just 20 pounds per person, it was great value for money. Plus, the free parking was an added bonus. Highly recommend Zauq for anyone looking for a fantastic buffet experience!

Very nice place, food is very good but need to be careful amount of oil that you consume. Other than that please don't waste food. I have seen many families come to the restaurant and being very greedy, fill the plates and couldn't finish, this is going to waste. There are people in many countries don't have anything to eat.

Nice food worth a visit, Pre booking recommended

First time at Zauqs (was on route to Nandoz) and saw this place whilst passing by. Decided to ditch nandoz and try some authentic asian/Chinese style food instead. Asked the polite young man (Rais) at the front if we could look around before committing (as we have young kids who are fussy eaters) and a young lady called Maryam showed us around. Honestly, its such a visually appealing place, great for the family with a wide variety of dishes. The food & staff was spot on. Massive shout out to both Rais and Maryam for the pleasant service. No complaints- Will definitely be back again!

I liked some dishes like lamb chops,haleem,biryani and barbeque wings. was expecting more variety in main course like butter chicken but they didn't have it .The desserts were ok the tiramisu was not fresh but there was good variety in desserts. Overall it was good.

Revisited Zauq after a few years, following a previous negative experience. The establishment has undergone significant improvements, now offering excellent, fresh, and flavorful food. From starters to main courses, every dish was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant, although the dessert station still requires additional staffing.

As a Muslim i will never criticise another Halal business unless i feel the food is so bad its should be haram. The curries were watered down and the 1 red meat curry they had the meat was chewey, why do you under cook it, its also bland too. The starters are cheap crappy basic chicken nuggets stuff, some of the stuff is raw too see chicken wing below, its cheaper by a few pounds compared to other buffets for a reason, it’s lower quality and it’s poor. On the plus side the SOME AND ONLY SOME OF desi deserts are nice the barfi is is horrible avoid it’s basically dough, the waiters are attentive and the place is clean- but if you and your family want decent food please avoid i promise you.

Best buffet I have ever visited in my entire life gotta say honestly I love this place come here every Eid and love although I have never seen any upgrades to any 3 times I have been there like they could add more food or deserts oh the deserts don’t even get me started on them they are brilliant loving the ice cream again could add some more flavours and the chocolate fountain is so nice anyway love to see a upgrade next time I come not saying it bad place see you next time Zauq

Absolutely amazing and people absolutely amazing and it best

Went on Eid day as soon as they opened and was seated within 40 minutes, staff were all very polite despite the chaos. The food was good, my favourites were the butter chicken, it’s the nicest I’ve ever had and the halwa puri and channay. It was a nice surprise to see a soft serve ice cream machine working as well as all the child friendly options, my kids loved the chicken nuggets. We had a booth for our table of 8 which was a good alternative to the open plan seating that is usual of buffet places although it was a bit tricky when some of us needed to get out and were trapped in. No one had an upset stomach the next day so it’s win.

People sniffing and watching where we sit very next to stairs .Receptionist and service staff are rude and take away plates even if you not finished . Not so busy restruant, grumpy staff. We came on a weekday for our daughter's birthday, we requested a booth but were told they're busy so allocated us a table instead. Those booths remained empty the duration of our stay. The air con was on and it was chilly but despite our requests they didn't reduce the thermostat. The manager was grumpy and when my husband greeted her,she looked at him with disgust although we have been here several times before and know her face. I handed over my daughter's birthday cake and got another glare from her, I just don't understand this behaviour. The food was decent, the cutlery and glasses were smudged. We were last here in January and since then there has been a significant deterioration in standards. The bathrooms were absolutely filthy. I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion or a family night out.

Been before food could have been better the fish pakora was great but everything else was average.

Visited zauq buffet two days ago with family, wide variety of options for food and it was absolutely amazing. Exceptional employee called maryam, delivered amazing customer service and was extremely nice when assisting us with our queries.

First time trying this buffet and food was absolutely delicious. Lovely worker called Mariam absolutely smashed it handling such a busy period thank you for accommodating us Thumbs up to you 😊

We got booking with at upstairs, food is amzing but stuff of upstairs was really very rude, we had family gathering and we was upto 21 people,but it was very disappointing due to staff behaviour they even don’t know who to treat customers with respect. Even though it is busy but it doesn’t mean to treat customers rudely. I think they need traning about service. I request to management plz take it serious And i hope it will never happened with other customers

Great value for money with the buffet including unlimited food and soft drinks. The food itself was lovely and there was lots of choice including salad, curries, chicken wings, rice, chips and desserts. The inside of the building is very nice, the staff were all very attentive and kind. Overall, would definitely go back here.

Went with my parter never had such a worse experience 😫 was small food selection not good it was dark ppl on top of each other also it was dirty cost £38 ate 1 dish and left . Also come to find out my mates sister went and got sick soon as she got home was throwing up for 3 days . I would not recommend this place

Throughout our meal, children were constantly darting between tables, creating a chaotic atmosphere that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the food. The running and shouting were disruptive not only to us but to other diners as well. What was most disappointing was the apparent lack of concern from the waiting staff. Despite the obvious disturbances, they did not seem to take any action to address the situation or ensure a more pleasant dining environment. This lack of attentiveness detracted from the otherwise enjoyable aspects of the buffet. In summary, while the food and variety were satisfactory, the disruptive environment and inattentive staff significantly impacted our overall experience. I hope the management will address these issues to improve the dining experience for future patrons.

Enjoyed the food. Endless variety of Hyderabadi dishes. Had a vegetarian friend even she enjoyed her vegetarian food. Haleem was excellent.

I’m a regular customer always seen it as 5 stars however on Thursday I went to eat food was fine except the fish pakoras which were undercooked and I vommited management however did take the matter seriously, however the poisoning is bad it’s still going on

Restaurant looks really nice,all food tastes like it's been cooked in the same oil. Chinese cuisine was advertised but only had chicken in black been sauce and fried rice and could do teppanyaki noodles. Good variety of salads.

Plenty of choice, food was mainly hot, but very bland taste. Great selection was available, and not your typical take away style food either, real authentic dishes. Salad bar very appealing again wide range on offer. Unlimited draft soda available as part of the price which is a bonus as most buffets charge extra per glass. Would I recommend this place? - Absolutely yes. Would I return - Sadly not. Simply because plenty of other venues available.

I did not like the taste much. Everything was okay but not extraordinary. They should have atleast one signature dish like shahi masala have special recipe lamb chops. Their lamb chops were not good enough. Chinese was so so. Icecream was not creamy. Nihari was fine. Haleem wasnt good. Didnt try salads. They dont have regular taste drinks like coca cola or pepsi. Pizza had no taste. Soup was not good at all. Chicken wings and fried fish was good. Mango chutney is quite good. Gulab jaman and kheer is also good

Had very pleasant experience food was top class Buffett prices same as a single fish n chips in chip shop! Staff great, pleasant and helpful. Will go there at least once a month for the Buffett, great job well done

Great Taste for all served dishes.

They have good number of varieties,its good for the people from north side of India' and Pakistan! As their tastes similar, definitely not for South Indians, you will see a major difference, as we went as a group of 14 people similar experience! And importantly they have time limit of 1.3hrs so be mindful! Staff is good , overall good!

I have been coming here for some years now. The quality of the food is average, not as it first opened. No complaints 👌 I love the convenience, free carpark, a room to pray, WC facilities. If you haven't been before, I would recommend it after you have eaten plenty of other entertainment available 😉 to enjoy at the complex. Shame about the lamb chops 😕 quite dry, I guess that's just part of the package when it gets busy. Oriental food is also available, stir-fry. The dessert selection 😋 is impressive. Staff do attend to your needs when asked. However, I do understand it is hard to please everyone 😔.

There was a decorational piece next to us, wooden with lots of holes, looks like its not been cleaned in centuries as filled with dust. Chicken wings, nibblets, sheesh kebab were dried out like there was some kinda famine. Bhiryani waa just coloured rice. The place and the food is similar to when you go to an all inclusive holiday with buffet style food and you only eat for survival. I didn't enjoy anything, 100% won't be going back.

Went for iftaar. Had to be there by half six for a eight iftaar. But it was definitely worth the wait. The food was excellent, variety was phenominal and the service superb. Will have to revisit during normal days to affirm this being the best buffet so far. For now it is.... Cards accepted and free parking - star city

We had very great experience at Zauq, Maryam khatun is very friendly, shows great hospitality towards every customer. Got lot of patience towards in accommodating customers without any hesitations.

None of the food looked fresh and tasted fresh. The sweets are 🤢. Not even a single desert is tasty. There are far better buffet's available in Birmingham. Please don't waist your time by going there. Worst buffet ever I eaten. The food section is very small. You have to wait in lines for every item. What we do with the ambiance, the most important food is food and toilets. Those Re worst.I don't recommend anyone to go there. 🤢🤢🤢. It looks like all the positive reviews are fake, because of the food taste and everything.

Authentic Pakistani Buffet with wide variety of Both Salty and Sweet Dishes !

Food used to be good. Now it’s terrible! Quality of food has decreased a lot. They’ve taken away certain dishes such as the keema pasta bake which was decent. However, now their options are limited and the food has no good flavour. 👎

The atmosphere is very good. Overall, the space is a bit overcrowded. They need to larger the space. The food is really good and has got more variety in it. I can eat spice, but a few of the dishes were like too spicy. You can have some parking issues as spaces are really full out there. So be on time if you need fresh food.

It’s not good at all some staff are so rude you can not choose where to sit and can not have fresh roti even you requested. Staff are not trained appropriately on how to speak to customers and host them. Disappointing

I really enjoyed the buffet, I adored the food but it was very unorganised and I never received dessert due to there only being one server that was taking an awfully long time and wasn't paying attention, more than one complaint from multiple people during this time.

Food is perfect but they need to improve their customer service. Not very helpful staff but I will go there again as they have the best food compare to other buffets in Birmingham.

I been two day ago with my friends . Food don’t have too much option. Service was terrible and don’t even clean our plates . Not nice atmosphere feelings like alone in a crowd. So I don’t recommend it. I camera first time and this is my last time . You need teach your staff maners and respects for other nationality . :-(
