Zauq Buffet in Birmingham

This is our go to place for birthdays and general outings in and around the Birmingham area. Good food, good atmosphere and great service. Can get a bit loud and busy at times but that’s to be expected from a good buffet I guess. Family friendly, loads for kids and adults to eat. Definitely recommend visiting!

The ambience was okay, but everything else was disappointing. Customer service was very poor, especially from the female staffs, their attitude toward customers was terrible. Most of the food was cold, and the chicken dishes were hard and not tender at all. Honestly, I can't imagine anyone wanting to return after their first visit. Some of my friends even had stomach issues afterward.

Absolute shambles staff should be ashamed was waiting 20 mins to open to get told assistance dogs are not allowed in so had to go to taco bell instead as they were excellent and very accommodating

I tried twice both times had diareah hygeine non satisfactory.

Loved the food and very fast service. However, make sure you give a ring before you turn up as the place can be very packed in weekends and evenings.

Food could be better, felt old. Not much variety compared to other buffet and price.

Food was decent, as many drinks as you want, £17 per person, can't go wrong with that, curries, good starters (need lamb chops 😋) lots of desserts, good seating area, would recommend 👍🏻👍🏻

My daughter has IBD and is on a medical note for liquid diet only. Family of 5 and we wanted to have lunch. They wouldn’t let us in without paying for my daughter who wasn’t going to eat at all. We had offered to show the medical note with ID but the girl said not allowed. Disappointing that you charge per seat. No adjustments for people who are part of a family but is not eating.

Good Asian Buffet restaurant but you can’t book a table and have to come 2 hrs early and stand in a queue. Food is ok but not worth standing in a queue for a table. I instead go to SherKhan nearby where easy to find a table and good food.

An excellent experience with richest taste. Especially five stars for Maryam who was thoroughly impressive and courteous.

Standard buffet , the black forest cake did not taste of anything could be reconstituted cardboard, the most they should charge for the buffet is £5.99 per adult for the crap they put out. I was dragged there by someone who thought it was an experience I couldn't do without. . . I'd rather have my toenails pulled out with a pair of pliers .

i have been there few times and wont go back , the food is halal and good the staff are nice but the atmosphere is horrible qnd getting worst because of the customers, so this review is for people , this is one of the few halal good food buffet, most customers are muslim, so why you take more food than you can eat and waste food, why do you leave your tables so dirty, some people do not even respect the queue for food , toilet are also so dirty (may be owner should have a cleaner cheking the toilet frequently)…. i think we muslim customers should have the muslim behavior (respect the place and staff, and do not waste food) i know the owner is making many adjustments for people to not waste food but this wont work unless you make people pay for full plates of non consumed food (like it is done in many other buffet)

I haven't been here for a long time. I tried it again. After a few years, the quality has picked up. I am a fussy eater in general. I actually would recommend this place. The variety is bigger, and the desert section has expanded quality for your money, considering buying a burger meal is like £12/15 in this day and age. It's £21 per head eat till you drop.

Same soft drinks which aren’t always available, Quality of the starters has gone down. Reduced variety with mains especially. Staff are polite & attentive, however the toilets are an absolute state - urine on all of the toilets during Ramadan is unacceptable. There are so many staff members standing around, yet makes me wonder about the overall hygiene of this restaurant. Outdated music, the same songs on repeat so boring.

No vale la pena. Como todos los buenos platos están bajo el control del anciano y si le preguntas te mira como si te estuviera haciendo algún favor... enséñale a ese analfabeto que sea educado y amable con la gente... la gente paga por su comida y tu salario también.

La comida estaba seca, sosa y comimos muy poco. El personal limpio y amable, pero el chef no era amable al servir y las gambas no estaban frescas. Se fue decepcionado por la falta de relación calidad-precio.

Just had the booking for 50 people iftari tonight with Zauq . Honestly love the hospitality, service food everything went great , all guests were left happy & we were left on our own to deal with food and guest still the staff was very helpful with getting us extra glass & cutlery. End of day everyone left happy & i thought we mind end up causing trouble with staff or customer but honestly everything was great enjoy the day keep the good service up

The quality has gone down .all of the items were tasteless .it felt like they just want to fill the trays up without any taste .chef really needs to wake up . Been going there for some times but sadly won't be returning again .the staff are really polite but the man behind the nihari station really puts you off from the place as he comes across really rude. Old lamb chops chewy and burnt . Nihari was soo runny and taste less. Butter chicken was a disgrace to the original dish. All the grills are just bland with no taste . They don't replace the naan and roti doesn't matter if it's been sitting there for an hour . Drinks tasted really funny . Over all it was such a big disappointment. The only good thing was the staff at the front or the staff looking after the seating area.

This place is amazing , very friendly environment, khan bhai always welcoming, Miss safa at the front desk always treat us nicely , proper pakistani taste with lots of variety veg , non veg , Chinese and dessert . Table cleaning Service team is great they are very quick . Thanks for Zauq 10/10

A decent buffet venue. Food is alright, certain items could do with an improvement but as its a buffet can't really say otherwise. Items could be cleaner as was skeptical to drink from my glass. Lamb chops are limited to 2 per person, given by the chef, probably due to the fact that people take extortionate amounts. Not worth the limitation as they lack flavour and are bland! For £18 I would say its mediocre, nothing special!

Zauq is fabulous . Food there is a lot of options dessert you can make your own vanilla ice cream with thier machine it's massive service Is well I have come here a bunch of times and love it !!

The old man who is either on noodles or lamp chops, he has something against women or something, he did bypass me to the man next to me once and when the man said i been there before him he offered me one piece only and offered all men 2 and never smiled. So weired!

Mariam and safa were absolutely amazing, I’ve visited on a few occasions and found there services to be outstanding, I truly believe there energy makes zaiq so hospitable. Food is good but the customer service these 2 bring to the customer is priceless.

Si bien la comida siempre ha sido golpeada o fallada — algunos platos son buenos, pero la mayoría son solo promedio — seguimos regresando debido a la experiencia general. Sin embargo, anoche fue diferente. Yo estaba allí con mi esposa y algunos invitados, con la esperanza de una noche agradable, pero la actitud del personal de recepción era terriblemente pobre. El anfitrión y el personal del mostrador nos hicieron sentir incómodos, como si estuviéramos allí para comida gratis. Sin sonrisas, sin cortesía, solo un comportamiento rígido y poco acogedor. Lo que es aún peor es cómo uno de ellos se comportó conmigo; realmente me sentí irrespetado, casi como si me trataran como menos que humano. No quería arruinar la noche para mi esposa e invitados, así que lo dejé pasar en el momento, pero este nivel de servicio es simplemente inaceptable. Un restaurante no se trata solo de comida, se trata de hospitalidad, y si eso falta, toda la experiencia se desmorona. Es decepcionante porque hemos disfrutado viniendo aquí, pero después de anoche, creo que es hora de buscar otro lugar para nuestras cenas familiares. Una simple sonrisa y una cortesía básica avanzan mucho, y desafortunadamente, el servicio de Zauq parece haberlo olvidado.

Disappointed with the Service at Zauq Restaurant I’ve been a regular visitor to Zauq for years because it’s a nice place, and the kids enjoy it. While the food has always been hit or miss—some dishes are good, but most are just average—we kept coming back because of the overall experience. However, last night was different. I was there with my wife and some guests, hoping for a pleasant evening, but the reception staff’s attitude was shockingly poor. The host and counter staff made us feel unwelcome, as if we were there for free food. No smiles, no courtesy—just a stiff, uninviting demeanor. What’s even worse is how one of them behaved towards me; I genuinely felt disrespected, almost like being treated as less than human. I didn’t want to ruin the night for my wife and guests, so I let it go in the moment, but this level of service is simply unacceptable. A restaurant isn’t just about food—it’s about hospitality, and if that’s missing, the whole experience falls apart. It’s disappointing because we’ve enjoyed coming here, but after last night, I think it’s time to look for another place for our family dinners. A simple smile and basic courtesy go a long way, and unfortunately, Zauq’s service seems to have forgotten that.

Don't waste your money on rushed restaurant with pathetic food,congested food space like its being served free,sugary water in the name of drinks,over oiled food and rushed to exit as early as possible. Rather throw money out of window than having junk going inside.

The food was excelent but what surprised me was the hard work that the stuff do , specially Maryam and Asma , they are so friendly . Was a very busy day and even if were hundreds of people wanting and asking, they was smiling and kind . A very big thank you for the hard work goes aswell for the man that prepares the nudles . My experience at zauqs is always the best thats why we keep coming back! Staff are attentive especially Maryam at the front desk, theres always a waiting time on a busy Saturday but the wait is worth it. I recommend the lamb chops as it is my favourite and the stir fry noodles they make are my kids favourite. Good variety of food and the atmosphere tops the experience!

First time in Zauq and it was an amazing experience but the downside is that at weekends it’s really busy like the waiting is almost an hour but staff is really friendly.

The best Asian buffet in Birmingham, amazing variety of food which is always freshly prepared. Family and children friendly. Staff are also amazing specially “Safa” at the front desk who is very accommodating regardless how busy the place is, she’s very pleasant and professional. It’s a must try restaurant where I go very regularly and never been disappointed!

Zauq is the best buffet in town. The staff are professional and nice and the food is just too delicious. Mariam was also amazing in quickly ushering us in. I have already recommended to friends even before finishing. Hope to come with loved ones here again. Ciao!

I won't even lie the people are very nice and all but the food isn't like the people bit bland because their is a lot of to cater for but the dessert is amazing so you can get full of something. The toilets are nasty as hell but the food areas are generally clean and the people are cleaning and accommodating very nicely.
