We came in this evening family of 4 sadly the service & food has gone down hill massively from our previous visits here to the point we won’t be returning starters wernt to bad just full of oil not been drained properly but all the curry’s just seeping with oil I even saw a member staff walking around trying to spoon the oil out of alot of the meat curry’s (disgusting behaviour) place was a mess food over the floors no proper cleaning going on and staff with faces on like they have been dragged threw a bush some with trainers on that were a size to big not a professional appearance at all. I noticed the owner was there this evening all suited and booted if only you lifted the lids on the food and looked at it?? Would you eat this ?? No Please be advised that children aged over 10 are know also charged at adult rate of £20

Having been to zauq multiple times, I can honestly say it is the best buffet I've been to compared to others. Food is good, desserts are absolutely delicious. Although it can get busy and you have to wait for a table often, the staff try to squeeze you in as soon as possible. And the best thing about the place is that it has a prayer room for Muslims

Food was awful. The people who work there are hard working and good. The atmosphere is ridiculous, because the attitude of the people coming there towards others and the food is pathetic. These customers they do t care of cleanliness, they don't have no curtesy, and are selfish. You can't eat in a place like this. Will never come here again.

I had a truly awful experience here. The staff were absolutely miserable and showed no signs of manners or hospitality especially to kids. It felt like we were a burden to them, and their attitude was rude and unwelcoming. The self-serve food handles were covered in grime and sticky and greasy fingers, making it clear that cleanliness was not a priority. The spatulas provided to serve the food were just as bad – dirty and gross, which completely ruined my appetite. To top it all off, the toilets were absolutely filthy and in desperate need of attention. This place clearly doesn’t care about its customers or their experience, and I won’t be returning. Avoid this place at all costs!

Se sentía como si fuéramos una carga para ellos, y su actitud era grosera y desagradable. Las asas de comida para autoservicio estaban cubiertas de mugre y huellas dactilares pegajosas, lo que dejaba claro que la limpieza no era una prioridad. Las espátulas proporcionadas para servir la comida eran igual de malas: sucias y asquerosas, lo que arruinó completamente mi apetito. Para colmo, los baños estaban absolutamente sucios y necesitaban atención desesperada. Este lugar claramente no se preocupa por sus clientes o su experiencia, y no voy a volver. ¡Evite este lugar a toda costa!

Not much selection and food was just ok but the atmosphere is very nice.

I loved this. As a vegetarian it is always a risk to go to a buffet because you might just end up with boiled rice and icecream! This place had plenty if options and catered for many tastes. I wished they had normal meat curry though, as my son, who isn't a vegetarian, just likes it simple. It wasn't visible on the day to us. Good starters, salad, sauces, good variety of mains, and free drinks. Only negative about the deserts was it is locked behind glass, and there are people passing this out. I know why they did it, because kids, but it was a little inconvenience for me but not enough to drop a star rating. And the chocolate fountain on a Saturday evening was not flowing.

Pretty space, Okay customer service some staff better than others. This is my second visit first time was a pleasant experience as it was just for the kids can’t go too wrong with refillable drinks food was okay pretty basic to what I expected however edible the kids loved the help yourself ice cream machine however I did leave with a tummy ache as did the children we returned yesterday a year on and again basic food dry dessert selection cake tasted as if it had been out for the week. And I have had cramps since the dinner table up until now really in impressed as the restaurant is very pretty but the poor effort in ther dinning experience is no good won’t be returning again.

If I could give no stars, I would. The food was awful... churned out as if for pigs. If you're a vegetarian, there's little choice. The chairs are so uncomfortable it makes you want to leave and the decor is tatty too, I was waiting for the sawdust on the floor. The toilets were awful... tissue paper all over the floor, and the hand driers didn't work. They told us we only had an hour and a half to eat and then timed us, we had to wait 10 minutes for our table to be ready, yet we had a count down to leave from 10 minutes, then 8 minutes. That's really uncomfortable, especially when you have children. The main thing that will stay with me is the food... it was just so bad, unimaginative, and like something you'd expect from a production line. The whole experience was awful from start to finish.

Overall not bad. if you have a child with a pushchair just know they have no space for the pushchair inside. they made parents leave them in the entrance. not many food options but quality was decent.

Food is very nice, different varieties on different days. Drinks variety could ba improved. Service needs to be better - some servers are very rude and start arguing or throwing attitude. Trying to ask a question and getting basic answers when I'm expecting a proper answer considering I'm about to spend £20 per head. Otherwise price range is amazing in this economy for a buffet. Best to go on weekdays but it does be busy.

Recently had the pleasure of dinning here at Zauq, food was unreal! Everything you need and want in one place. I’m a huge lover of buffet all you can eat just having the joy of having bits of everything, this is extremely well thought out. Quick turn around on tables with attentive staff constantly clearing plates. Cost wise £50 for a family of three all you can eat and drink, fizzy vimto went down a treat 👌

Excellent food, the most close to Pakistan tasting food, the staff were friendly and hospitable, the food was fresh and delicious, the place was clean, unlimited drinks, great variety of snacks, starters, mains and desserts, you know a place is great when there is a such a massive crowd. Food was hot and cooked excellent clean space. However we were a party of 4 & refused a booth saying for large families only where we used to be able to eat in one. The young lady escorting us to table appeared very abrupt and miserable. Used to come here regularly but this last meal was a celebration out but was a disappointment will not return.

Nice place, lovely waiters mainly girls very polite and helpful, but the chef behind the lamb chops was one cheeky old man, 12 of us went and only giving 1 lamb chop each then saying wait 15/20 mins when only got hour and a half, made a complaint to the waiter she tried sorting it out, not cheap either for Saturday but for atmosphere and food not bad, but that old man spoiled it 👎🏼

For me it is the best in town.. Paye , namkeen gosht, biryani, lahori fish, soup, fried rice, Manchurian, noodles are always the best in taste.... But the dessert side is okay

The man that was doing the lamb chops today has no manners and has idiotic behaviour for his big age he is so stingy the lamb chops I spent £80 for 4 people this guy kept being so stingy he got angry when I kept going to him for lamb chops I was so close to saying something to him but I chose not to as it was my mother in laws birthday will not be returning to this buffet

Food is undisputedly excellent but the wait to get a table on the weekend is always my worry. Thumbs up to the staff at the front door for the management particularly the lady Maryam at reception.

Great food at a reasonable price with easy parking and very helpful staff. The food was delicious as always. A girl named Maryum at the front desk took excellent care of us. We had disabled/elderly individuals with us, and although we were initially seated at a pod table, it wasn’t convenient. We requested to change tables, and despite how busy it was, Maryum was very accommodating. Within a few minutes, she moved us to another table and even helped carry a few plates. Highly recommend! 👍

Zauq Buffet in Birmingham has become one of my go-to spots, whether it’s for a staff dinner or a family gathering. I genuinely prefer Zauq over any other restaurant in the area because of the unbeatable quality and taste of their Asian food in the buffet only. The flavors are authentic and consistently excellent, making it, in my opinion, the best buffet in Birmingham for Asian cuisine. While I do wish there were more variety in the selection, the incredible taste and high quality more than make up for it. Every dish is well-prepared, and you can taste the effort that goes into the cooking. It’s a shame they don’t offer more options, but honestly, it’s never been a dealbreaker for me. Highly recommended if you're looking for great food and a place you can trust for any event!

I have tried different buffets in Birmingham. I especially came from London to try Zauq with my friends. I am a thousand percent sure that this buffet was most delicious. Dishes were less than other restaurants but the taste was above them. Will definitely visit again with my wife.

Safa was excellent in offering us more time so we could eat as we had to spend sometime to tie up ballons for a friends celebration of God adding another year to his life. She was very cordial and respectful and considerate.

Visited this buffet for the first time. Food wasn"t too bad but some of the starters like the chicken tikka & pakora were under cooked which put us off straight away. People were picking up food with their fingers even though utensils were avaiable. Some staff were rude and all staff were misreable and it seemed they weren't happy working there. Overall not a good experience. We won't be going to this buffet again.

Excellent buffet no alcohol but all soft drinks free £20 for drinks and food

I was there yesterday and I would not recommend this place to nobody. Food wasn’t very good and you got to pay £20 per person on weekends which is a lot comparing to other much better buffets. A lot of noise such as loud music and a lot of screaming kids running around. You literally got to watch your steps and nobody cares about them at all. Service wasn’t great as well as there was like 5 waitresses standing no more than 2 meters from your table watching you eating and talking in they language to each other. Obviously you don’t know if they talking about you but it’s not very comfortable specially that they laughing as well. Toilets are not very clean you can say that they look like any random McDonald’s toilet so not very good. If you looking for nice and quiet place where you can just chill and relax Zaqu shouldn’t be an option at all. My first and last time there

I was here on Friday afternoon. I rate the food 5/10 but the service and the place are lower. The toilets are not clean and the music is too loud. 5 waiters stood in the middle, next to each other and were not discreetly watching me eat, No more than a meter from my table. It was not a comfortable experience. What's more, they did not speak English to each other, which gave the impression that they were talking about us. Quite busy, lots of loud children running between tables. I went to the restaurant to rest and relax but unfortunately I left unhappy. Parents do not pay attention to their children and the staff does not try to calm them down, which is why it is very crowded. It is very difficult to walk safely with a plate full of food. Children should sit with their parents and not run between tables and make noise. The toilet is upstairs. A group of people gathered before entering the stairs. The person who looked like the owner/manager of the restaurant greeted and hugged friends in front of the stairs, making it impossible to pass freely. I do not recommend this place, the food may be tasty but it is not worth paying 20f for such an experience.

Great place to visit. Good food. Options are less as compared to other buffet restaurants I have visited but price wise it's very good. Good service. Must visit. Should try to book in advance as it's generally jamm packed. Will visit again soon.

We had a great time here. Since have been in Birmingham for years now, it's been so hard to see any buffet restaurants, I am glad we came to Zauq. I wish they add sushi to their menu, it will be prefect!

Ambience is good but compact, more space would have been ideal. Upstairs was almost vacant but people were made to wait to be seated. We waited for an hour to be seated on a Sunday night. Food was fairly good, options were also lesser than the restaurants of the similar range. Taste was good.

Food is not what it used to be. It used to taste like desi well spiced curry’s , now it’s bland. Drink options are poor, a few times it was something different . The staff are friendly but food is a disappointment. Lamb chops dry , one of the chef is quiet rude seems angry most times.

A great buffet with so many dishes and live cooking too - including lamb chops, tawa chicken and even stir fry noodles (which was delicious and freshly made for you based on your spice preferance and toppings)! Starters and main course had so much variety (including halwa puri and a chinese food section too), and I loved the desserts selection too! Unlimited soft drinks within the price. Great lively atmosphere, good seating and table service is very efficient and quick. I would say it is worth the price (£20pp on weekends).

Thought the price of the buffet was too good to be true. We eat out a lot but this place was really not good. Food quality absolutely shocking. Now have a stomach ache. Really poor quality curries and oily starters. My children could not even eat their favourite dish chicken karai. So watered down and just awful. Spend a bit more money and get a nicer curry!!

Upon arrival me and my family were greeted and seated, the food is absolutely amazing. I had 3 plates of food and dessert, waiter/waitresses and staff were very efficient with their work and kept up with cleansiness, there were no lacking of plates and cutlery. For many years, zauq and Star City have been like a pit stop for our family whenever we travel to London from Preston from M6 as we are a frequent traveller. Reasonably priced as compared to others in B'ham and Manchester and food is of top quality. They are the only place where you get bottomless drinks, whereas other places charge for them. special mention to staff. From booking lady to chef behind the counter are so kind and always have a smile. Running staff are very attentive to clearing the table and floor, as soon as kids drop food. Foods get refilled in small batches so you find it fresh always. My favourite is Live noodles bar Nihari, tawa items. , chops, fish and deserts.

La comida es INCREÍBLE y una cosa que definitivamente recomiendo probar es el wok, usted tiene que esperar a un chef para ir a la estación de wok, pero la corta espera ES ABSOLUTAMENTE VALE LA PENA. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Zauq Buffet and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service provided by the staff was impeccable and friendly. The ambience at Zauq Buffet was top-notch, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that enhanced the overall dining experience. I highly recommend Zauq Buffet to anyone looking for a perfect combination of excellent service and a delightful ambience.

Very nice decor with the center pice in the ceiling and also the smaller booths on the sides. Seating upstairs is okay as is main area downstairs. Had someone in wheel chair with us and there was no loft to get them upstairs so are group of 13 we're disjointed and spread between upstairs and downstairs. We did eventually get to sit together downstairs when we got to desserts. It was very congested at times. Service was lack lustre as you would find your self waiting to be noticed so you could ask someone to serve you some of the specialty dishes or you were competing with another diner to get the last few chops being served or competing to be heard. Should be like this. Also found dishes that were not complete for example there was chickenless chicken biriyani or lamb dishes with very little lamb and predominantly large amounts of fat,bone and bouncy gristle. I get you need this for flavour but when you bowl if full.of this and it becomes the main component of what your eating then this is off-putting and very unpleasant. Shame because were the meat was present in some of the dishes then it was very tender and well cooked. Desserts were okay again nothing great. Need to enhance flavours on your rasmalai and kheer with some nuts or saffron or something. Mithai was not that great. Gulab jamuns again missing something like a hit of cardamon. Drinks were okay but had to wait a very long time to get a glass. Waiters were few and were either not bothered or tired and over worked and I think it is the later. We did arrive at around 20.00. I didnt get to try every single thing and stayed away from everyday food like pizza,nuggets chips which is what kids and non adventurous people will tend to gravitate towards. Sauces Station a great idea but lacked in flavour or distinction. Plates need to be bigger in my opinion given its a buffet restaraunt and your given a starter plate. Overall flavours were okay but nothing stood out or was wow. Unfortunately another buffet place that falls into the trap of jack of all trades and master of none. There was some dishes that were okay. There was a noodle station but noodles looked over cooked to me. Only noticed athe one chinese dish which was chicken in black bean and actually it was pretty good. I have a feeling the first services of the day may be better when staff energy levels and attentiveness is more fresh and on point and dishes are just prepared and stocked. I think this place struggles when busy as would any other restaurant of this size and its ambitious menu but this is the true test if any well established restarunt. I would definitely consider coming again to try dishes that I missed and to also see how the experience is when it's not so busy but I am in rush. Thankyou

We went to this place after being recommended by my husband's friend. We went during the week day and I was expecting it to be quiet but it was busy. Despite being busy, we were greeted by very pleasant staff and were seated within 1 minute. The food was fresh and delicious. There was also variety. There were also plenty of desserts to choose from. The inside was very nicely decorated and clean despite being busy. The service was exceptional with the waiters quickly picking up any used plates from the table. Will definitely be coming back to this restaurant in the future.

This restaurant is finished when it comes to food and service, the quality of food is a joke, so oily, spicy and overly fried, it has beyond lost their charm they had many years back, whether it’s under new management or they have lost dedicated staff, everything from entrance onwards was a disaster, the young staff at front desk are so rude as if it’s their dads restaurant, firstly we are paying customers, so don’t give attitude as if we’ve rocked up to your house for free meals, i was happily ready to slap her right, then you enter and how packed it was, took about half an hour to a actually reach the food, understaff for sure specially when waiting for the nihari, and other food items, then the quality, I know it’s a buffet, but literally the taste of the food was so bad, but the oil used is even worse, then the youngster staff which were rude, I honestly will never come back, there are many better buffets in Birmingham which will have better food, friendlier staff creating a much better experience. Do not waste your money here.

We went yesterday for a relatives birthday ,keep in mind he is 2 and in a high chair, and we were placed directly at the entrance even when asked to be moved. One of the workers there was constantly standing at our table trying to pressure us to leave. Everytime the baby would drop even the minorest of things, they would clean it straight away, which you would think was good service. It would be if they didnt complaign about how much mess we made along side it. More and more workers came and pointed and talked. They made us feel that uncomfortable, one of the people with us didnt hsve desert! At the end of our dinner, we asked for a manager and the lady ,which we asked, started defending the workers saying that it wws because we had desert? That comes with the meal. After a while the manager did come. After 20 minutes. And started to say that they did so because we stayed for over and hour and a half. That isnt true. We were there for an hour at max. And even if that was true, why were the workers there from the start? To add, the food was mediocre at best and a lot of it was undercooked. To think of it, I saw somebody tell the worker that their food was undercooked and the worjer had the audacity to tell them to leave with no refunds or etc. Overall would not come back to the place unless the workers go through deep training or replaced. Finally I found a best buffet place in Birmingham. Quality of food is best. Good atmosphere. Staff is also good. Zauq Restaurant is in Star City.

Food was all cold n hard .. the butter chicken tasted the worst. They dont serve fresh roti or naan its all readymade packed roti or naan they serve without butter/ghee.

Food is low quality. chef doesn’t know the difference between lamb and sheep… Waste of money TBH. Service was okay thou but never going to visit this place again. Thanks

Nice environment, tasty food but when we were dining, I was about to drink out of a glass they provided and noticed it had a lipstick stain on it which is very unhygienic. This means they didn't wash it properly so I suggest they wash properly. Also, some of the plates had chipped corners.

I like most of their items. Sitting was very good and the atmosphere was cool and clean. At 20£ it's very economical. I really prefer to visit again.

It was very bad. The food wasn't the best for the price. The desserts were unedible
