I visited here with family and I must say that I was very pleasantly satisfied with the service and the very tasty food!! We had a variety of food, from grilled to their very succulent curries. The flavour was very unique and I will be definitely visiting here again with more family and friends! Keep up the good work!

Ordered from this restaurant as usual place was closed on a Sunday. Ordered the food via just eat, delivery tool roughly 45minutes.... But missing CHIPS, RICE AND POPADOMS. When ringing back we was told 15 minutes for the other half of our order to arrive, however we shortly had a call back from an extremely fast talking man informing us it would take another 40-45 minutes!! Shocking service, offered 50% on next order, informed the man we would not be ordering from them again as nobody wants to pay almost 90mins for food!! Half of which is cold!! Was refused a refund and a PART refund at that. If you want ur food fast and all of the food you've paid for to arrive together I suggest you order from somewhere else. I suppose the review from NOV 15 was never acted upon!

2 hours for delivery and when it eventually did arrive there was no naan. Food was hot, but very greasy, and not in a nice Indian way. Might be better if you go in person, but don't bother if you want delivery.

Really good - we know quite a few of the local restuarants and this was a new one to us on the recommendation of a friend. The food was lovely, clearly freshly made, and good value, the staff were attentive and the general atmosphere pleasant. I would say that it was not speedy, but we were there for a relaxed dinner out so this was ideal. We will definately be going back

I have been to this restaurant 5 times in the last few months. The menu is quite different from most Indian restaurants and the actual food is impressive. The style of the restaurant is modern and bright and service is excellent. Last night I had tikki aloo which is fried spiced potato, king prawn jalfrezi and nan. Everything was a delight. Others at the table had fish and veg pakora, passanda and fish biryani. A lot of fish is on offer as are vegetarian dishes. There is plenty to choose from and the food always tastes fresh. A very good night out!

Went to ajwa on Friday with my friends, The restaurant was quite. The starters came out cold and the main course took 40 mins to come out. The main course had lot of grease. The men's toilet smelled and needs to be cleaned. I rate the restaurant 2 out of 10. Food 2 out of 10.

What a super meal we had. We were greeted by very polite staff and Manager and they were impeccably dressed. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the decor was beautiful. We were seated and served with poppadoms and very tasty selection of dips. They opened our our bottle of wine and the wine glasses were really nice goblets. The menu was vast but well explained and I was impressed with the choices on offer. We tried some new dishes Harry gosht was a medium well herbed lamb dish. The lamb was top quality and tender... We had mushroom pilau also the whole meal was faultless and gorgeous. The other main dish we ordered was a tandoori mixed grill.... One word.... WOW. We couldn't believe the size of it. Tandoori chicken, tikka chicken and cubed lamb, THE BEST LAMB CHOPS ever, sleek kebab, salad and chips.... It was all outstanding quality... Lovely meal, lovely restaurant... I recommend it to anyone

Erm was abit sceptical to visit this place from last review but friend booked it so went and was very impressed with the quality of food and service. They don't sell chat and the flavours on the Ajwa Lamb handi were just perfect. I would certainly recommend a revisit and the waiter at our table actually went over and beyond to make sure the food had the right kind of adjustments as my friend is allergic to some ingredients. Thank you for a lovely evening Ajwa. :)

Awful. poor service and shocking food. How you can possbly get so little flavour into a curry is beyond me. I had channa chat to begin, my O/H had chicken pakora and his brother a mixed grill. All utterly devoid of flavour. And my chat was warm, including the cucumber, which was most strange. We covered them in the sauces from the chutney tray to give flavour, but somehow the mango didn't taste of mango, the mint didn't taste of mint, and the chili managed to not taste of chili. Even the chopped onions were flavour free! King prawn jalfrezi was nothing like a jalfrezi. There were no green chillies and the sauce was gloopy. Lamb bhuna looked and tasted the same, and the lamb tikka jalfrezi was so tough that most of the meat was chewed and left on the plate. The rice was horrid and the nans were doughy. The first words my boyfriend said when he awoke were 'i can't believe how bad that indian was.' That says it all.

Upon entering we were welcomed to a relaxed environment and immediately served with popadoms and a generous selection of dips. I asked to adjust the starter to grilled sheikh kebabs and a generous helping of salad which the chef was more than happy to do. Although it took a while to make, the taste of the food compensated for the slight wait. Personally, I would rather wait a little longer for something that was made very well. It wasn't too spicy like typical Indian places, but the chef was happy to make adjustments. In all fairness, I went in the evening and the restaurant was rather busy, so waiting, was understandable. My friends all enjoyed the mixed grill and the burgers. We ordered a range of curries and the nan was very nice and soft. The food was piping hot so we could tell it was freshly made. Will be coming here again!

I have now visited three times and am moved to pay tribute! Last night's meal was on the £9.95 'open menu' deal and we got poppadums/sauces, starters, mains and rice. Take your own wine! My lamb shashlik starter was large tender chunks, perfectly marinated, with lots of caramelised onion, and just about left room for an excellent chicken methi as main course. We'll be going again!

I visited this restaurant with family and friends on 6th February and the service was appalling!! We arrived at 7.30 and the waiters took ages to take our orders despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. We finally got our starters at 8.45pm and 2 of the 3 sizzling tawa kebabs were not sizzling as they had obviously been left waiting in the kitchen for the other starters to be cooked. Our mains took another hour to serve and one of our party had to wait for the accompaniments to her dishes to arrive. The waiters didn't appear to care less! Shame about the service as the food, when it finally arrived was fairly good. We finished eating at 11pm - 3.5 hours for a starter and main course. Won't be going back, there's far too many excellent alternatives in the area!

Recently visited Ajwa restaurant. Welcome was very warm & friendly. We were promptly welcomed & seated. Menu is quite varied especially compared to other local establishments. Staff were willing to discuss menu & make recommendations. Food was of good quality although a little more expensive than other local venues but don't mind paying a little more for superior food. Overall a very pleasant experience.

My first impressions were that it looks inviting, done out nicely and welcolming. The menu is varied and has a good choice. The food was lovely and I really enjoyed my meal, as did other family members that ate with us.My only critisism was the time we waited for the bill. Between finishing the meal and actually paying the bill a whole hour had passed. The waiter told us to relax as it was the weekend and why rush, but we had to ask twice and having eaten a big meal, we were feeling a bit uncomfortable and needed to move - obviously our fault for eating too much!!I agree it's nice not to be rushed, but if the bill is asked for it's obvious that they are ready to leave.I will go back though and give them the benefit of the doubt.

The place looks fresh but the food is not as described on the menu and they make no attempt to recover the issues.1) the plates were dirty but polished in front of us (scraping the food marks off)!2) the Ajwa mixed shaslik starter has prawns on the menu but not on the plate. Apparently this is a misprint that they could not fix but it does come with a hair that the waiter watched me remove from the dish!3) My main (ajwa special chicken Kahari) contained 25% potato (not on the menu). The waiter laughs all this off without apology, not offering to replace or compensate. On the positive side, the food tasted OK and the lamb in my 'chicken kahari' (yes lamb) was probably the most tender that I've ever had (well that's what they said it was)!Correct errors on your menus, check plates and meals before you take them to the table, correct issues and apologise when things go wrong and you could jump from poor to good.

What a shame Yasser has gone and been replaced by Ajwa. The restaurant has been refurbed to a good standard although it is very bright in there. Starter was nice. Mixed kebab on sizzling plate, cooked well and very tasty. The waiter informed me that if you come on a Friday or Saturday night then the meat is cooked fresh to order. What happens the rest of the time?? He couldnt answer that so if you do visit then make sure its fairy busy or you may get some frozen/microwaved food. Mains were very disappointing even after being recommended by the waiter. The chilli chicken was not spicy even though I had ordered it hot and had very little flavour. Shashlick bhuna was mostly onion and quite tasteless too. Rice was very greasy. Ive been to every curry house in Stirchey and surrounding areas and theres definitely better places to eat.

Visited last night. Restaurant was very quiet which was a shame. Excellent starter of chicken tikka which was a huge portion. We asked for our mains to be delayed, a real shame as when we asked for them the chef had made them completely wrong. Very quickly rectified and when the correct dishes were delivered they were worth the wait.Restaurant was nicely decorated and much more upmarket than the standard Balti house luckily with Balti house prices, also a BYO which always help keep the price down.

Always scared of a new curry house when I so many other really good ones but Ajwa's was open before all the others (before 5pm) on Sunday. It looks pretty terrible from outside but inside, Service was fast and polite, all of our food was fantastic and it saved us at least a third of going to Imlees in Moseley. It was very cheap and all round very good. Bring your own booze too - essential for any curry house I go to!!

Tried Ajwa in Stirchley for the first time tonight and it was absolutely delicious. It is everything you could want from a local restaurant; the food is great, the staff are friendly and helpful, prices are reasonable and the service was sharp. The décor is modern and clean, with comfortable seats and a relaxed atmosphere. We ordered poppadoms, which came with the best pickle tray I have ever had. We shared starters; mushroom puree and tikka paneer – both were sensational. My boyfriend had a chicken dansak for main course – the chicken was well-cooked, tender and really flavoursome. I had the lamb shashlik with was served on a sizzling platter and was absolutely delicious. This place is well worth a visit. It is hugely superior in service, taste and quality to some of the other local curry restaurants in the area and I will definitely be going again.

Visited on a Saturday night this restaurant hasn't been open long so we thought we would give it a try, sadly we won't be returning for sometime. The restaurant was very busy, which is a good sign - usually. The restaurant is light and airy, we were shown to a table and given a copy of the extensive menu, they should have had it proof read before printing eg lamb chops contain minced lamb! Staff were friendly and explained the dishes. The poppadoms arrived quickly as did the starters. They were ok. There was then a long delay for the main courses. Two dishes were lukewarm at best. My wife's salmon tikka was good my lamb pathia (at least I think it was lamb as there wasn't a great deal of meat) was disappointing it lacked that sweet and sour taste I was expecting. The keema naan was well cooked and tasty. We did raise the issues with the staff who did apologise and blamed the fact that they wrote busy. At around £15.00 a head I thought it was expensive for an average curry. It is a shame because there us a lot a competition in the area and they will need to raise their game to succeed.

We had a great time here. Since have been in Birmingham for years now, it's been so hard to see any buffet restaurants, I am glad we came to Zauq. I wish they add sushi to their menu, it will be prefect!
