The staff were really friendly here. It is definitely a place for people to go who like spicy food and top flavour. There is a pretty big range of food. They were so nice they even gave you sweets and posh wine. The staff are so nice and friendly. It is my favourite Indian restaurant that I have ever been to. 5 stars for sure.

Ordered online Very late delivery came an hour after ordering and order placed 20min before shop open. Delivery driver held onto order and was asking to payment again even though she held the payment receipt in her hand. The food! Omg. The worst indian I have ever had. The tandoori chicken was yellow and tasteless. The methi chicken was tough and had absolutely no flavour at all. I contacted using the restaurant WhatsApp link and never received a reply and the same happened with the x feed. I would never eat here again.

This is my first ever negative review on tripadvisor! Having been a regular customer at Zara's restaurant and regularly used the deliver serviced i'm bitterly disappointed to advise that this evening delivery include in our food a very large hair! The do appear to have standards have lessened over the years to the extent of todays delivery! it's a great shame but i will not be back! i suggest you return to your previous standards! as you appear to be reliant on your reviews of a number of years ago.

We came in and ordered drinks , popadoms and staters which was all going well , then we had more drinks and waited and waited asked about our mains as other ppl came in ate and left as we waited sone more ! Over an hour later we asked again ( it’s coming soon) we all had enough and had to get up and leave ! We paid for what we had ate and drunk but the service was just terrible we will never ever go back here again 😡

We’ve been coming here for years, despite pretty regular staff changes the food is great. It used to be popular with visiting snooker players but I think it’s got a lot of competition now. The restaurant is looking a little dated and could do with a refresh. Quite pricey for a takeaway but not too bad if sitting in.

The exterior and interior of the restaurant are tatty and really could do with a freshen up. Our starters, popadoms were lovely, lots of dips in the pickle tray! I had chick pea curry and taaka dhal as my main with rice, which were ok but not hugely tasty. We had some breads with our dishes, my partner said they were brushed with marge not butter 🥹 My partner had lamb shashlik .. lamb in a mustard sauce. He said the meat was rather tough. The cost of the meat dish was taken off the bill as he had eaten very littl. This was really appreciated. The staff were helpful and polite :) Service was prompt.

Disgusting cold warmed up chicken dry and overpriced...never again

After arriving we were pressured to order drinks and starters. In the space of around 4 minutes we were checked on/ watched and asked if our food was ok by 3 members of staff. We had staff hovering around us and moving plates etc whilst still eating. To the point my child was upset and thought something was wrong. Food was very bland, oily and not to the standard expected for a £106 bill. After being advised by themselves that they are child friendly as I have a 5, 11, 13 and 9 year old with us. We were charged £9.50 for fried chicken nuggets for a picky 5 year old that was unable to eat them due to being burnt and awful! The whole meal with my family we were made to feel very uncomfortable, unwelcome and we couldn’t wait to leave. I would advise anyone with young family to avoid. I would never visit the place again. I am shocked how poor this place is as it is still open.

Located about 10mins from Sheffield centre,a lovely Indian restaurant nicely decorated with friendly attentive staff and lovely food. We all had different meals all of which were very nice although I thought they needed to be slightly hotter temperature wise netherless very nice.

I usually love Zara’s I’ve been to the restaurant multiple times however this takeaway was disappointing food was cold, ordered a garlic Nan bread and it barely had any garlic on it.. not even sure if it was just plain! Zara’s need to up their takeaway game!

Rubbish Arrived very late. Well over an hour late. No apology given. Food Luke warm. Didn’t enjoy the meal. Majority was binned.

The king prawns were tough and the karai sauce was not as Ive had it before from Zaras.

A busy restaurant in the heart of Crookes. The food is well presented & delicious. The staff are accommodating, pleasant, friendly, helpful & very attentive.

I could say it’s been the worst starters I had in whole UK . I have ordered chicken tikka, lamb tikka both were worst and seekh kebab was good and then kashmiri naans with hyderbadi gosht curry this was ok ok then chicken biryani was below average. Better go for any other if you want to have proper indian food

Early delivery was fine - happy to have it sooner. Food was tasty but my haryali was full of herb stalks. Thick ones I had to remove as I was eating as they couldn’t be eaten

The food is consistently good here. If we want Indian food, Zara's is our go to. Their delivery service is also good! Reasonably priced and decent portion sizes. The pickle tray with the different chutneys with the poppadoms are great, nice to try different ones to the standard ones. The service can feel a little chaotic at times but that's not really a problem.

They missed the popadoms we had ordered and the main dishes were mediocre in quality.

Would say the food it actually really wonderful ..but advise is never order online ..visit the restaurant or eat in but dont order online for delivery...this is the 3rd time ordering and after the previous 2 times I promised I would never order again but I thought give them another chance..more fool me ..after waiting nearly 3 hours and 3 phone calls chasing food eventually got what was ordered ...so disappointed with the delivery service its actually non existent ..my opinion don't offer the service as you clearly can't deliver

I expected better quality, Bhaji was hard, cold and tasteless. Dishes were 90% sauce with a bit of meat, not value for money. Very disappointed.

Poor - we ordered at 19:47, it said 45-55 minutes. When order confirmed it said estimated delivery 20:55-21-15. This is already later than it advertises. Our food actually arrived at 21:38. Paying £35 for a take away that turns up almost 2 hours after ordering is very disappointing! We will not be ordering again.

Amazing as usual. We ordered a chicken tikka bhuna, chicken tikka madras, rice, naan, chapati, veg samosa and pickle tray and all great quality. Food is always cooked great, always warm and tasty. Chicken is also always great quality as never any fatty bits like we’ve had at some other restaurants. 10/10

Totally surprised we have not rated this restaurant before as we have been several times. Madge says it is her favourite local Indian. Traditional place with a huge selection of dishes to chose from. Really enjoyed them all on each visit but maybe a little out of touch with the Street Food craze. Cobra in bottles. Good value.

Such a shame after visiting 6 weeks running spending £50 a time we had a bad starter with 2 x Prawn Purees were both curdled and tasteless. As what I thought was a valued customer offering constructive criticism I left 3 messages for them and no response at all not to apologise or maybe offer to put things right. I am not a serial complainer but in this day and age felt they needed to know and to not acknowledge or respond is very poor despite it showing the messages had been read!!! Such a shame but decided now to try elsewhere. I am a stickler for Customer Service.

The food tasted nice, however, it was cold due to the very late delivery. Food was meant to arrive according to the app between 8:15-8:35 after being ordered at 7.27. We called the restaurant at 8:38. They said the food was on the way and the delivery driver had left. The food arrived at 9:18. The drive from the restaurant to ours is not too far so it was confusing why this took 40mins from us ringing up, also resulting in the food being cold on arrival. If the app had said that the food was going to be delivered at this time we would not have ordered from this restaurant. We phoned the restaurant who said it had been busy and advised us to order direct through the restaurant. We were not sure why this would affect anything. Surely they could update just eat of their business.

Piping hot food. Missing naan bread. Hassle having to ring the restaurant. Will wait and go through food while the delivery driver is still present next time.

Ordered a takeaway via just eat for 3 of us at £46 total. This is honestly the worst takeaway curry we have ever had. The starters of poppadoms, onion bhaji and sheekh kebab tasted old and stale like they'd been around a few days. We ordered a pickle tray at £4 to go with the poppadoms but this was missing. The lamb karhai was loaded up with large pieces of onions and peppers which we had to pick around to get to the small amount of lamb there was (see photo). Although advertised as medium strength it had a strange bland sauce that was nothing like a curry taste with little spice or heat. A kharai should be a strong tasting, spicy dry dish. The tandoori butter chicken dish had some sort of strange shredded chicken, no hint of the tandoori. It was more like a basic korma dish (see photo). If the above wasn't enough, all the food was lukewarm and served in plastic tubs rather than the foil containers which tend to keep the heat in for longer. We ordered the meal as a Saturday night treat to finish off a weekend away. We tried to eat the meal as we were very hungry but left most of it on our plates. At £46 for a meal we threw most of away, and with the cost of living leading us to have to consider spending our money very carefully, we will certainly never risk ordering from here again. I can cook a better curry at home but I wouldn't claim to be a specialist like this resteraunt does.

Fast delivery, Starter was good, curry and rice was bland, Keema nan was like a pizza and not in the middle of the bread

I know korma is a subtle flavour but it tasted of literally nothing. So disappointing

Another excellent curry + service, Pickle tray & pops always great with extra mint sauce, Prawn Puree and Mixed Kebab went down a treat. Lovely Pathia, Korma, Vindaloo and Karahi with rice and naan. Thank you again that was our 3rd Saturday on the trot keep our seats warm please.

The vegetarian dishes from here are incredibly tasty - potentially the best I've had in the past five years of not eating meat. I've tried the Lentil Makhani (an absolute fave), a tumeric aubergine dish, and two dishes with your cheese. All were great! Thanks and I'll definitely be back!

Excellent meal all round from the pops with superb choice of pickle tray and plenty of mint sauce, amazing prawn puree and fantastic mains including chilli chicken, madras and pathia. Thank you for looking after us, we will definitely be back.

Another great night out at Zaras. The chicken chaat starter, madras hot was amazing and the Murgh Kali Mirch was as good as ever. Rice was nice and fluffy and the naan was good too.

Had no warning via app that food was on way or even arrived, very early so want expecting driver and was called to say driver sat outside. Starters were rock hard and inedible couldn’t even cut with a knife. Would have broken my teeth! Curry fine , rice lovely and Nann bread was like leather!

Food was very good as always and prices are fine. But we had booked for 19.45 and it had all been worked out as I came from a long way off and was returning afterwards by bus after meeting friends who live in Crookes. We were kept waiting until 20.10 for a table which of course completely messed up my bus timetable arrangements. Shame the evening was rather spoilt as a result.

We'd not been here before and came here for an early evening meal with friends. Friendly welcome, comfortable seats (& quite a lot of soft furnishings which kept the noise level down - a bonus these days). The service was quick too which suited us well as we were going on to a gig nearby. The menu's pretty standard and 3 of the 4 of us were very happy with the large and tasty onion bhajis we ordered for starters (plus poppadums and the large pickle tray), plus the large main dishes. The one disappointment was the vegetarian thali chosen by one of the party - me - which was rather ordinary. Another time I'd do what I usually do which is to order a couple of my favourite vegetarian side dishes. The salted lassi was also good and the large jug we'd ordered was polished off enthusiastically. Overall a good but not exceptional meal, but in welcoming surroundings - so definitely worth coming back to

Have to say the service quality has dropped massively since previous trips here. Felt very rushed when taking our order and was expected to order everything at once despite being one of the last bookings. Service was very slow and it took a long time for drinks, starters, and mains to eventually be served. Poppadoms were stale. The main dish was decent though. This was a favourite local spot but don't think I'd be returning unfortunately.

My curry was nice special murgh masala however wasn’t boned chicken like described. My girlfriend ordered chicken tikka masala however was never a masala was more like a korma and she doesn’t like korma so was a waste. With the wait time and my curry arrived wasn’t ever gunna work me ringing to change as mine would have been cold, unless there masalas don’t have any tomatoness about them awful!

We ordered at 18:30 and it was delivered at 20:50…!!! With no updates on the system and after two phone calls to the restaurant say it’s on its way!! Not acceptable I’m afraid. Food was cold. Not our usual experience from Zara such a shame…

If you’re looking for an authentic experience with bold, flavourful food: Look further. I’m begging you. The food was edible, but lacked any semblance of flavour. The delivery time was adequate (just over an hour) and the restaurant fulfilled our request of “no cauliflower” in one of the curries. But the naan was dry, the garlic naan didn’t taste of garlic and all the curry dishes were just lacking in any bold flavours. No spice, no sourness, no saltiness. It’s just not worth it.

I didn't think it was possible for Indian food to be so bland. Got takeaway tonight, it came 35 minutes early which was baffling, and I've never had a more disappointing meal, even though I wasn't expecting Michelin star quality, I just wanted some nice spicy food. Every single dish was bland to the point that they all tasted the same. Paneer tikka starter only had 4 small chunks of dry unseasoned paneer, oily aubergines that tasted of literally nothing, chickpeas and saag paneer that would have tasted better if we'd got a microwave packet from Lidl. We had to eat spicy crisps we'd gotten from the shop just to taste something. Don't bother with Zaras. All the good reviews are from desperate post-lockdown people or parents just grateful for a night out, ignore them.

once of the nicest tasting takeaways i have had in a long while. we ordered a variety of dishes and all tasted really fresh and well presented, complements to the chef! Also delivery was quicker than the estimated time which was a bonus.

The food was great in the restaurant each of the six or seven times I've been, this is the second takeaway from them I've been unhappy with. Tiny pieces of meat, average sauces etc but seemed too expensive to be honest, and not as good as others available. I

It's been far too long since my last visit, coming here always reminds me that I have missed good quality tasty food, a great ambience with lovely company. This visit was to celebrate a friends birthday, not that we neded any excuse to come here. Drinks was the traditional cold Kingfisher beer, We ordered poppadoms which came with a choice of 8 fresh accompaniments. These were a great start to our meal. Our mains was a naan that honestly was fresh, sumptious and just unbelievably soo good, along with plain boiled rice, Tarka Dahl, Sag paneer and Chana Bhaji. We were not disappointed, the food tasted amazing. I could talk more about this gorgeous fresh food, it's never greasy, ar covered in oil! It's consistently the best Indian food in the UK. However, I don't want to leave without mentioning the staff, who are considerate, friendly, conscientious, brilliant and caring. Thank you for being the very best Indian restaurant/takeaway in the UK!!

Got the impression that Zara's has now sacrificed its quality of food in order to afford to keep running. This is a shame. The food was very sub standard and certainly not worth the money any more like it used to be. A lot of the ingredients that usually compliment the dishes very well all seem to be missing. or they had other stuff added to it that is not in the description. I hope it improves and gets back to the high standard it used to have.

Ordered from Zara's before and it's always been lovely. Not so good today sadly- when we placed the order the order time was 40 minutes, but food took nearly 2 hours to arrive and we had to call the restaurant to chase. When the food arrived it was lukewarm and very bland. Very disappointed this time around.

We come here most Sundays and they can never do enough for us! Portions are large so we always end up with a doggy bag to take home. Food is amazing too! Highly recommended

ETA online was 45-60 minutes - ordered at 7pm. When order confirmed it said ETA 8.25 - tried to call to cancel but could not get through. At 8.20 finally got through to the restaurant requesting to cancel (the app said still with restaurant, prep not started). Told "We're on it now" and they hung up. Food finally arrived 8.50 but was cold Appreciating we did order at 7pm on a Saturday, the food and time were not as predicted, unfortunately.

Chicken was not proper bits of chicken but bits of chicken thigh. Disappointing to have used such a cheap cut of meat that’s a bit fatty.

Really excellent food, just as good quality as served in the restaurant, no compromise at all on the takeaway. All arrived within time frame given (approx an hour, but we did know that at the point we ordered). Food arrived hot.

While the food was delivered early, as a regular client of Zara’s I was extremely disappointed with the moisture levels of the meats, both the mixed grill and chicken tandoori were extremely DRY. The curry’s were good but this was the most disappointing order I’ve had in 10 years and will think twice about going again.
