The Curry Spoon in Sheffield

Take away - easily the worst Indian Food I have had. Nothing to do with Indian food. Chicken Makhani was a yellow sauce that was just sweet and had cheese on it! The Saag Paneer was chopped spinach, deep fried Paneer and a lot of oil with a few spices. Luckily only had two dishes and some Naan. If you know what real Indian food is, this is not where to go.

Celebrated my husband’s birthday tonight at this restaurant and what a treat! Plenty of choice on the menu. Delicious starters and mains which we all throughly enjoyed! We asked about the red sauce and our waiter was happy to bring us some free to try and it too was so tasty. Staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. Thank you for looking after us…will definitely be back! Note: cash only or bank transfer payment methods.

Would not recommend! Called in to book a table for 10:45pm was told bookings was 10:30 which was agreed To come for 10:30 for a party of 7 ( 3 couples and disabled person Was totally taken back with the comment by staff member “ your not going to cause any trouble “ This is unacceptable and was not impressed by this comment We arrived for our booking at approximately 10:31 as we had to call at the cash machine across the road as they were only accepting cash payment They refused entry for our booking at 10;30 pm as it was 10:31 The restaurant was empty so personally feel this place doesn’t deserve custom. I will not ever return to this place and will not recommend anyone to visit as i feel the treatment is out of order and don’t deserve customers.

Wow just had an amazing meal here not been for a few years and under new owners and you can tell one of the best if not the best I've ever had

The food is very well presented & tastes very good indeed. The owner said to us, "Let the food speak for itself," & it did. It is one of our favourite curry places. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this place. Probably one of the best curries that I’ve had. The waiter recommended the dish and it was absolutely delicious. The food arrived promptly and the naans, rice and dahl were all as tasty as the main course. The premises were very clean and the final bill was very reasonable. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

Visited last night for nephews 21st, around 30 of us, pre ordered food, as requested by restaurant. All food was absolutely delicious! One of the best curries I’ve had. Starters, sundries and mains, all cooked to perfection and served on time! Lovely, friendly atmosphere and staff. Would highly recommend 👍

6 of us returned here to celebrate an anniversary, whilst the food was superb as usual, the service was a little disappointing, we only had poppadoms and a main meal each but was in the restaurant for 2 hours, a couple came in 45 minutes after us and had eaten their starters, mains and left 20 minutes before us! The poppadoms came quickly but then we had a 45 minute wait for our main meals whilst other customers were getting theirs promptly. Also I think that the tiles on the floor in the ladies toilet could do with a bit of a clean. We would probably return and just put it down to a blip.

So we thought we would try this restaurant We were greeted welcoming on our arrival the staff we really nice This was an early Father’s Day meal & we were so pleased with the services quality & taste Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try we will definitely be visiting again 5 star 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Amazing food very happy customers 😃

Got take away delivered 3rd one we've had .. wanted keema never had one guy on phone reccomend a keema bombay so tried it .. got Pilau Rice to share and peshwari naan my wife had lamb rogan josh both excellent meals very tasty .. shall be having keema bombay again even though I love my lamb rogan josh

Stopped here for a meal on a Sunday evening, and I wish I'd tried the restaurant much sooner. The food was delicious, the prices were very reasonable, and the team could not have been more attentive, friendly, and hard working

I ordered take out a while ago , chicken tikka jalfrezi and tbh it wasn’t the best very oily so hadn’t ordered for a while until a work colleague said it had improved so on 19/4 me and my partner gave it another try and tbh hers was bang on , I ordered chicken madras (photo will be uploaded) the amount of chicken was laughable and basically it was just sauce , I contacted curry spoon and gave them the chance to reply to me but got no response so feel I have to go down this route, personally I will never waste my time ordering from here again.

My friend kindly treat my husband and I to a fantastic meal at this place. We hadn't booked but the friendly staff accommodated us straight away. Me and my friend had the squid pakora which was cooked to perfection. I had the lemon chilli lamb which was absolutely delicious, lamb melting in the mouth with lots of fresh chillis and peppers. This is definitely a new favourite of ours! Big thanks to all of the Curry Spoon staff.

Went to the Curry Spoon with a friend on on the recommendation of a colleague. The manager was very surly , thoroughly unpleasant and offhand with the staff. Ordered starters , onion bajhis , which were OK at best , the main courses were adequate but nowt special , if anything the Lamb Madras dish was on the small side , the accompanyments , namely the plain nan and the rice were standard sized portions and well cooked and pleasantly presented by the waiting on staff, who worked very hard under the strict observations of the stroppy manager. Overall it was an adequate, middle of the road Indian restaurant, nothing more than a 3 star really. Expensive for what it was .

Delivered before time stated. All food hot and tasted exceptional. Ordered for 2 could've easily fed 3. Will definitely be using again. Thankyou

Had takeaway delivery ..Mixed kebab ,Lamb Rogan Josh, Pilau Rice & Pashweri Naan .. came when the guy said it would arrive every thing was very tasty really enjoyed the meal

It was late when we happened across the Curry Spoon after a night at the football, but the staff were very attentive and welcoming and the food was really tasty.

Visited 2nd March with 4 friends, all our meals were absolutely spot on. Waiters were really friendly and knowledgeable. Excellent food at sensible prices, beer good too!! Will return very soon.

The best curry house around! I don't do takeaways that much because I'm a bit fussy about quality but this restaurant hits the spot. Incredible traditional food. Great service every time, really friendly staff and very reasonable price.

We placed an order over the phone at 7.15 on a Saturday evening and were told it would be ready to collect in 45 mins. We duly arrived and had to wait a further 45 minutes. Food arrived at our house ( which is literal round the corner) at 8.40. Not acceptable! No remorse or apologies- shocking service for take away will not be going again! Be honest if you can’t provide the service say so and people can go to where they can! Cash only by the way - does the tax man know!!!

Tonight was our first time here since the revamp. It’s even more cosy. Very busy but staff still managed to bring food out at reasonable times. Love this place. Very well looked after indeed.

Order a takeaway to collect and it was beautiful. Chicken karahi Was amazing, Not had a takeaway curry for a while as they tend to have no flavour and all taste the same when not in a restaurant. Was recommended so thought we’d try it, best curry I’ve had in a while. All the food was beautiful. Will definitely be ordering again and going in to the restaurant also.

First time trying this place after a recommendation from a good friend. Booked a table for 8 of us. Service prompt and drinks served quickly. I had lamb chops for starters (£4.95) and they were a delight. 3 large meaty chops with non-hot spices, soft onions and side salad. Suitable for those with no tolerance for chillies. My main was lamb jalfrazi with garlic bread and rice. Pretty damn good as well. All 8 of us enjoyed our food and had a very positive experience. They have a good range of curries for those with low chilli tolerance. Will definitely recommend giving this restaurant a go.

Curry was lovely. Lost stars for the red food colouring. I was wheezy all night. No need for food colouring in any Asian food. And no private contact details to be more discreet.

The poppadoms and pickle tray, really nice, bahjis a little on the small size and not crispy a little stodgy, chicken tikka starter., my daughter enjoyed, the biggest disapointment, were the curries, my chicken tikka jalfrezi was a load of onions in a bland hot sauce, the chicken was not tikka, and no peppers, chillies or tomatoes, more like dupiaza, my wife's curry, chicken rogan josh, a reddish sauce, no peppers, both swimming in oil, not good, having read the reviews, was left dissapointed

A mid week treat from our daughter, we ordered poppadoms, pickle tray, onion bhajis, chicken tikka, 2 rice, 1 chicken rogon josh, 1 chicken tikka jalfrezi, the poppadoms were nice and crispy, the pickle tray, plenty of variety, and complemented the poppadoms nicely, the onion bhajis were quite small and not as crispy as we like them but OK, our daughter enjoyed the chicken tikka starter, the pilau rice nice and fluffy, the only let down were the 2 main stars of the show the Curries, my chicken tikka jalfrezi turned out to be a chicken dupiaza a bland hot sauce full of onions and chicken, NOT chicken tikka and was swimming in oil, no green chillies, peppers or tomatoes, it was definitely not jalfrezi I've been eating Curries for over 40 years so know the difference, my wife's curry rogan josh was a red sauce again swimming in oil, with no peppers, we ordered after seeing the good reviews, but we're left disappointed,

Expensive take away really curries ok but starters appalling soggy poppadoms and prawn puree like rubber. Couldn't find my flat stood on street looking for him and he went other way and left me in rain for ages

Tandoori Chicken literally uncooked and translucent in places, order hours late and cold. Never again.

Always well looked after by the staff very polite, friendly and go above and beyond. Shared the Mixed starter for 2 with pickle tray and poppadoms, the Starter which came sizzling was very tasty, we then had the Chicken Tikka Garlic Balti which was full of flavour highly recommend this dish. Once again wasn’t disappointed and will going again! Plus the red sauce is delicious! Keep up the good work guys!

First time I have been in since new title , . So tried here it is cash only or bank transfer. The service was excellent friendly and helpful , lovely pint of cobra while waiting , 20 mins from order to our food was ready. We had a takeaway of mix kebab starter for 2, chicken chat , chicken jalfrezi, chicken biryani , pilar rice , 2 garlic Nan , mixed paratha , popadoms and pickles First thing was how hot and fresh everything was , popadoms kept separated to keep crisp and fresh , lovely salad , all the food was tasty , fresh , hot and with friendly excellent service , we will be back .

Went in with low expectations given the prior ownership of the restaurant. However, heard good things from friends & on the back of some recent reviews on various platforms thought we’d give it a go, weren’t disappointed. Generous pickle tray, choice of 3 dips & 2 variants of chopped and pickled onion, decent size poppadoms, slightly lacked in freshness, were just off mark with the lack of a real snap and bite. Ample starters, my partner had the Lamb Chops, always an acid test of what is to follow and they were good. On the small side, but well marinated & complimented with that traditional charcoal appearance & taste. I went for the Mango Chilli Fish. Dish was flavoursome, the heat of the sliced green chilli was matched with the tang of mango so as not to overpower the white fish. I do feel that whilst the dish was good, could be more refined, was basically a curry sauce on top a piece of fish. The mains were very good, portion size was excellent. My partner had the Chicken Tikka Karahi was packed full of chunky well prepared onion, tomato and peppers in a rich medium heat sauce. I had the Lemon Chilli Chicken, soon as it arrived I was struck by the aroma, the zing of lemon and freshness of coriander, the taste test followed & matched the aroma, the lemon was actually quite subtle on the palate and not too strong. The sauce was deep with flavour & spice, sweet tomato flavour coming through balanced with the bitterness of lemon & onion combined with the punch of vibrant green chilli. The only detractor of both dishes, was the precooked chicken tikka, albeit well marinated and seasoned was a touch on the dry side, not bad, just missing that real mouthwatering tenderness. Accompanying side orders were too big for us, in retrospect we should have shared both rice & naan, however I wanted to try something different. She had Boiled Rice whereas I had Keema Rice, probably one of the best I’ve had, lot’s of mince, blended with spice and surprisingly tender. We had different naan, both were big, Garlic Naan was well seasoned and quite light. My Keema Naan was delicious, although a bit on the heavy, stodgy, doughy side, nothing wrong with that, but I would have preferred it to be cooked out a little more for it to rise and crisp, missing that bubble effect on top to give it that fluffy texture. Would definitely re-visit. The service was excellent, wait times were perfect & the price was reasonable.

Food Ordered mixed kebab,salad bang fresh,chicken tender n tasty, onion bhaji pathetic,kebab cooked in old or burnt oil had a funny taste Jalfarize again chicken bang on but onions under cooked etc All seemed rushed Guy was polite and friendly But will not be rushing back Shame

Our takeaway was hot when we got it home and the food was beautiful. The balti spi cha lamb (lamb balti with spinach and chickpeas) was to die for, chocca full of big, meltingly tender chunks of lamb in a flavourful, savoury sauce that perfectly complemented the meat. The portions were generous and the naan fluffy. We’ll definitely be back.

We collected a takeaway to celebrate our anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was hot when we got it home and was absolutely beautiful: Full of flavour without being overly spicy hot. The lamb balti with spinach and chickpeas (balti spi cha lamb as they call it) was incredible. The plentiful big chunks of lamb fell apart at the touch of a fork and were meltingly tender and the sumptuous, fresh, savoury sauce complemented it perfectly; fluffy naan; loads of veg in the vegetable rice; korma flavourful and full of meat; very generous portions, enough for two meals each. We’ll definitely be back.

Overpriced for small portions, with very little meat, some items cold, but all fairly tasteless. Would not go again.

Had a few varied takeaways from here … all extremely delicious and piping hot. We usually collect for the discounts (NHS and collection) but when delivered very fast but quality not affected. One time containers not totally full so we phoned and immediate apology and noted. Next time another apology and a free mains dish so great customer service. Well done curry spoon. You can judge a service on how the react when things go wrong and no complaints here. Would highly recommend

First time customer and I ordered a takeaway instead of sitting in. It was absolutely gorgeous! Very fresh and piping hot when it was delivered (delivery was on time and the lady who delivered it was an absolute delight too). I would definitely recommend - it’s also so nice to finally find an Indian restaurant that serve proper chunky chips instead of the skinny frozen kind.

After trying lots of different Indian takeaways in Sheffield and being let down and put off. Decided to give the curry spoon a try after reading lots of good reviews. Did not disappoint, ordered to collection. Food was hot, every dish was tasty, good price. The atmosphere in the restaurant looked good, we will definitely be back. Thank you! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited Sheffield for our 11th wedding anniversary (which is steel). We spent the day after exploring & found The Curry Spoon. We called back later & got a table straight away. The food was delicious & presented very well. The staff were all very welcoming & friendly. We shall definitely go back when we visit Sheffield again. Definitely one of our hilights of a wonderful couple of days.

I am very wary of eating at any Indian or having a takeaway as I am nearly always disappointed, however, my sister had ordered a takeaway and left me some as she and her husband couldn't eat it all. I was in heaven, the balti was absolutely gorgeous, I had half of a chicken balti and a half of a fish balti with mushroom rice. OMG! You must eat from here if your a curry lover. Ive ordered the lamb balti since, the week after I ordered a tikka chicken balti with again the mushroom rice, both times were delicious! Highly recommend this place. The poppadoms are so light and tasty too. My go-to place from now on. The delivery guy turns up in a suit, very courteous. Cant go wrong. Well done guys and thank you for putting my faith back in indian takeaway food yummmmy. Best in Sheffield! My go to place about 6 years ago was Prithi Raj on Eccalsall road, YUK, i went there a month ago DISGUSTING FOOD!! So was extremely disappointed, Now this!! WOW, Blows my taste buds to heaven! Not sorry for long post, I have needed this for years.

Wow. Well look no further... My today's Dupiaza was best I ever had. Three dimensional flavour unravelling layer after layer as you eat... The bhajis amazing, the naan super tasty. Obviously using high quality ingredients as even peppers and onions were super flavoursome. Service amazing. Owner lovely, caring and friendly. Our compliments to the chef! There is nothing to fault. We will be back!
