This has to be the best fish and chips I've eaten in ages. Both of my daughters had chicken - 1 nuggets, 1 wings with chips and curry sauce. We all enjoyed every mouthful. Forgot to take a photo, but definitely will return again as was delicious.

As someone very partial to a chippy, I was very glad when I moved to the area that I was fortunate enough to have this place on my doorstep. My housemate and I usually visit here once a week, and we've never been disappointed with either the service nor the food. The pricing is good value for money, and the selection on the menu is admirable. They offer delivery through Just Eat, but should you be willing to collect your order I recommend you phone them up and place it, as you will find this more affordable. Their phone number can be found on their website, as can all other details regarding them. I highly recommend Zara's, they've been open for nearly a decade now and it's clear to see why.

I never ever order Cod as I really don't like it but after eating cod and chips from Zara's I've been converted Their food is delicious and always freshly prepared. They even offer smaller portions costing £5 which is great for pensioners or people wanting a smaller portion(however it is more than enough for one person)theres also the added touch of a wedge of fresh lemon with every order. I cant praise this place enough, the staff are always lovely and friendly, so if you're looking for a treat that will delight look no further. AMAZING!!!

I’m such a lover of fish and chips and just happened to try Zara’s one lunchtime, I never looked back. Everything is always so fresh, hot and tasty. By far the best chippy in Colchester. I’m amazed they don’t have hundreds of great reviews. EXCELLENT fish and chips, that’s the opinion of a self titled expert.

Where do you start? Staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is truly superb. It’s not about awards and publicity I’m afraid. I will never use another chip shop, pricing of food is good and you are getting your monies worth. Chips are cooked to perfection, the fish is amazing! Especially the haddock.

We have a monthly treat from Zara’s Fish Bar. Always good quality food. We phone our order through and it is always ready for collection at correct time.

Placed a call and collect order of one beef burger meal and one veggie burger meal. My partner asked for salad but no cheese on his, and I requested just salad, no sauce or cheese. The ‘salad’ in each burger consisted of three bits of limp, old lettuce with some cooked onions sprinkled on mine for some reason. They also added cheese onto my partners burger, which is not ideal considering he is lactose intolerant and the request was not just a matter of taste. The chips where also disappointing so we ended up throwing most of the meal away. All in all a miserable take away that was certainly not worth the money. I’d advise low quality expectations if ordering here, we certainly won’t be going back!

Great friendly run chippy, we @ hythe hill motorcycles get our lunch from here all the time and all 5 of us love the food and at a great price and some great lunchtime deals. Very clean aswell.

I ordered 2 large cod, scampi and a large portion of chips £18.80. For that money I would expect good quality and well cooked food however I was very disappointed with the greasy over cooked cod and scampi and the chips were pretty poor. I can’t really recommend them but feel that I should warn future customers to be wary of what they could be letting themselves in for.

Been here a few times. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. It's a little more in money then our old one on Ipswich road and potions aren't as big but the service makes the place. Always tasty.

Never had a bad bag of chips from here always cooked to perfection fish normally cooked to order insuring it's always fresh and they wrap the fish on its own what I like !!
