Beef rendang- absolutely delicious. We were the only people in the restaurant. Lovely owners. Portions generous, very good value for money. Fresh and authentic. Took me back to Bali! Highly recommend.

Me and my boyfriend visited here today and it was an absolutely amazing experience, staff were so kind and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing!!! They also cater some amazing food for vegetarians, I never tip but the customer service and the food was outstanding, 100% worth a visit if in the bournville/stirchley area!

We really enjoyed the delicious Indonesian food. Excellent friendly service. Good value too.

A lovely little restaurant serving great malaysian/ Indonesian dishes at very good prices . This place is really a little gem on the High Street and actually authentic malay / Indonesian food. I tried the nasi goreng and mee goreng on four different occasions and the dishes are always consistent with each mouthful and I can't really fault this place at all. I love the atmosphere of this place and would definitely recommend a visit .

Reserved a table only to turn up to a full restaurant and told there is a 45 minute wait. Restaurant Closed. Tried to eat here a second time. I made a reservation again, had a confirmation email I then arrived to find the restaurant is closed. There is no mention of the closure on the website.

Can't get more authentic when your food is cooked by expats living in Birmingham. Had the Ayam Penyet (chicken) and the Beef Rendang. Both were delicious. Of the two the chicken was more traditional and "correct". The red chilli sauce it came with was surprisingly mild. The chicken was fragrant with the various spices and beautifully moist as it should be given how it's cooked. The beef rendang was well cooked and again was on the mild side. I prefer my rendang dry and more spicy and arguably this was not quite a traditional rendang but delicious nonetheless. This is home cooking done as only Malaysians/Indonesians know how to. Highly recommended.

Overall experience was amazing! We found a table as soon as we walked in and was greeted promptly with menus. The price of the menu items are not expensive and the quality of the food was top notch! The food was fresh, delicious and light weight, it felt as though I was eating a home cooked meal you could taste the love in each dish and the presentation was so pretty. I ordered the Teh Tarik tea after my meal and it was the perfect tea to wash down the food. The atmosphere was 10/10 and the best part was meeting and talking to the owner Muhammad who’s son is the Indonesian chef. A super friendly and kind man, you can tell they genuinely care about the well-being of their customers and want to take care of you. I will be definitely making frequent visits as the food and people are amazing!

Selamat! Since we moved to the UK, Birmingham, we were on the look out for authentic halal Melayu food, and we bumped across this lovely little gem yesterday ! The lad who served us ( I wish I could recall his name)offered us brilliant service and some splendid recommendations of Indonesian food. We were in cloud 69 with the authentic flavour and we go teleported back to our melayu roots. It was an absolute delight for me and my partner and we will be back again soon! Terima Kasih!

Excellent food! Friendly staff, family business. Clean and tidy place. The Laksa is so delicious and tasty. The food is well present and in good portions, good price too. The seating place is limited, four tables for about 9-12 people. We came around half six, wasn’t many people but one table for two available after half seven. Online Booking is available. We definitely come again and try different food!

Maybe the best takeaway on Stirchley high street?! The kind of food that leaves you with a grin on your face because it's so delicious. Really, really excellent!

Absolutely smashing food! I have been here many times and the quality of food and service is superb! I often order the rendang, it is very authentic and feels just like home. Staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and treats us just like family. I have recommended this restaurant to many of my friends at uni and they all love it. Would definitely come here again!

Indonesian people are very friendly very welcoming i had a huge interest in Indonesian culture and I'm happy that we have options in Birmingham for Indonesian food the food from Minarg Cuisine do not disappoint as i expected i love Indonesian food and I'm so happy to have in food from Minang the service was excellent the food was fresh the only fault is that i don't live by Minang which is my fault the service the food gets 11 out of 10

We were searching for good Indonesian/Malaysian food around Birmingham and found out this place with pretty good reviews. I loved the food and the atmosphere. Staff were really amazing and friendly. Food was really good, had very authentic homemade taste. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would definitely come back again to try other dishes in the menu. We had Beef rendang- which chef recommended, Nasi goreng with king prawns and Laksa. All the 3 dishes had burst of flavours and was really tasty and we also had special Teh tahrik (Tea) which was also top notch. Special mention - is the homemade chilly paste which was so good and spicy ,that we asked for 3 refills.

I have been living in Uk for 24 years, If anyone want to try genuine Indonesia Foods, especially Minang kabau Foods, this is authentic food in the UK....

The owner is Indonesian, the taste is authentic. The price is not expensive. This family business have been growing since 20 years ago, its the best Indonesia foods, whoever gave 1 star feedback, you probably never go to Indonesia or probably you eat a lot Aldi foods😀 I will come back

My girlfriend is from Malaysia and a massive foodie. We stumbled upon this place as it wasnt in the clean zone in Birmingham. What a wonderful surprise as the food is incredible and she approves! We ordered the ayam penyet, laksa and satay all great. Satay was a standout! Update 28.11.22: we used to order from Minang regularly as it was authentic Indonesian/Malay food. It was hard to find such good food. However on a recent visit, the food is completely different and the quality not as good. I suspect they have changed chef. The satay sauce was different, the sambal was not as good, the kuey teow noodles were a different type of noodle and completely different seasoning to what we had before. Previously it used to be arguably one of the best Kuey teow in Birmingham. I had pictures of the old dishes and it has changed so much. The staff are lovely and I still wish for this place to do very well as it was incredible. I trust that they will take on constructive feedback and continue improving. I will keep my eyes on the food update photos to see if any changes and come back! They deserve to do well I just wanted to give some honest feedback.

Authentic, fresh and delicious food. The Nasi Padang was a treat, offering a few things to try on one plate, including the melt-in-your-mouth Beef Rendang and some incredible homemade chili sauce. The service was exceptional and everything was served with love and a smile. Prices are super reasonable too. Already planning a trip back in a few weeks!

Finally a place in the West Midlands that caters for authentic Indonesian and Malaysian food! Not only is the food stupendously amazing, but the staff/owners bend over backwards to deliver quality customer service. This was our 2nd visit (and there will be many more!) and we were just blown away with the quality - it was like being back in Bali! Best takeaway experience for a long, long time.

Minang Cuisine is a gem of a place. The family that run it are so welcoming and the food is amazing. Definitely one of my favourite food places in Birmingham for sure!!

Seems to be mainly takeaway but booking online worked fine. Looks to us as though there is room for around 10 diners. Food was lovely, we had Beef Rendang and chops that were either lamb or goat. Both very tasty served with chopped tomato, spring onion and cucumber salad and boiled rice. Seemed authentic to us, we've eaten in Malaysia a number of times. Staff checked a couple of times, as we arrived and again as we ordered, for allergies. Very reasonably priced and we definitely hope to go back and to use as takeaway

I'm giving the 5 star rating solely based on what a lovely lady she was ..having known what Malaysian/Indonesian food should taste like for me the flavours wasn't there......I know we ate allthe food but that was because we'd been at the commonwealth games and we were starving.. the food wasn't great but not bad,all it needed was more of that malay flavour and definitely needed the spice which sadly was missing from a couple of the dishes...but that curry was vert good

My mum came from the Malaysian side of minangkabau village and imo this cafe serves the most original and and most fantastic minang cuisine one can ever find in UK. This is not some factory made McDonald's style food, everything is cook with a heart. 10 starts for the food and the most sincere hospitality that comes from the heart. Will definitely recommend everyone to come and experience minangkabau culture and what's better than gastronomic experience of this unique Indonesian cuisine. Thank you so much. 😋

What an excellent experience eating here!. This restaurant offers Malaysian and Indonesian fusion and it is halal.We ordered nasi goreng special, gulai kambing and nasi lemak and the taste of each was so delicious. The portion was big and so the price was extremely reasonable. Plus point- the guy who served us (the sous chef) was so nice and friendly. Highly recommended and will definitely come again! ❤️

A very disappointing experience for us. We made a reservation through the restaurant’s own website for 4 people this evening at 7pm. When we arrived, we were told they were not doing dine-in because of Ramadan. There were no mention of this on their website nor the booking system. We made this booking more than a week in advance and not received any communication from the restaurant. The management must really review their booking system because it is such a pity despite all the positives reviews on their food, their customer service is non existent. On a positive note, we ended up at the Kolkata Lounge and had a very lovely meal instead. Minang Team please try harder to not lose your customers.

The restaurant serves authentic food with care and a smile. Those who wish to dine in should know there are two tables: one seating four and the other two. We were fortunate to get the table for two. The chef is clearly skilled and takes time in preparing dishes full of flavour and good presentation. The costs are reasonable.

Rarest food in Birmingham. It is food that will make you happy to eat and feel satisfied. You want to try Indonesian and Malaysian food, try this place. It is worth the price too. I often go there for nasi goreng special and I always look forward going there every week. They got good tea too especially teh tarik. Its cold in Britain so it's a great place to drop by. Friendly staff and an amazing chef. Indonesian food is very rare in Birmingham so I hope it stays on the map.

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and I always wanted to try Indonesian food. It was very tasty and have a wide variety. It's a small family place and very friendly. The price was more than reasonable. My biggest surprise was that the food tasted like Mauritian food . Very interesting 😋

A hidden gem in Stirchley Birmingham. Food is really tasty, authentic of indonesian flavour, unlike other places offering indonesian menu I tried. It has a wider menu selection and very affordable. I would recommend: Beef Rendang, Bakso, Nasi Goreng special with Satay and Gulai Minang.

OMG Delicious food! I'm a big fan of East Asian cuisine & this is the first Indo/Malaysian restaurant in Birmingham I've come across! As someone who lives in the area, halal food is very difficult to find, I'm so glad Minang offers delivery because they are literally my go-to for lunch! The food is flavoursome, filling & my entire family loves it too, the portions are very generous! Definitely one of my favourite takeaways! Keep up the amazing work! :)

Was looking for some Indonesian dishes to try and this place was just down the road for me so I had to try it. I've heard a lot about the rendang curries so I for sure ordered a beef rendang. I also ordered a Gulai Udang which was tasty but a little too runny for my liking. Though that may be the dish is meant to be since the beef rendang was perfect. Gentleman at the counter was also polite and inviting. Will certainly be coming back again to taste some more dishes.

Just had a takeaway delivered by deliveroo that was the good part however very disappointed with the food, we ordered 2 x Gulai Udang and 1 x Kwetiau Goreng both dishes were really tasteless. The Gulai Udang had approx 7 small "king prawns" Which just tasted as if they were boiled with the few bits of red/green pepper and onion in a yellow liquid which didn't have any resemblance to coconut. And the Gulai Udang was just as bland. I really wanted this to be good

This is one of my favourite takeaways. The food here is excellent and a very welcomed change to what is available in the area. I have been here for times already and have sampled a few things on the menu. I'm always dream too the Nasi Goreng but the beef rendang is excellent and the chicken satay are definitely worth a try. I have eaten in there yet but I will do when everything settles down a bit. The guys in there are very friendly and are happy to talk you through the menu.

Ordered thru Deliveroo today, Kambing Sambal, Ayam Penyet & Nasi Padang. They’re truly authentic and heavenly delish! Brought me back to the good old days when I used to live in Jakarta. Rendang, sambal and kambing are on point. Highly recommended! Will absolutely try other dishes soon, esp the Malaysian dishes. If I had to pick on something I’d say.... I need more sambal for ayam penyet & nasi padang! Ibu/Bapak, kok sambalnya dikit banget, nggak cukup sih!! 😂

Bit of a mixed bag this - I ordered a couple of dishes through Deliveroo (yesterday) but the Veg Curry with Tofu turned up minus the Tofu. I immediately rang the restaurant but had a pretty unhelpful response ranging from 'the chef had run out of Tofu' to 'what do you want me to do about it' which was disappointing - imagine a chicken or prawn dish arriving without the main ingredient and being told that! However, and to be totally fair here -the Nasi Lemak was lovely, fresh, spicy and really tasty and I was offered a refund for the curry (although I was left to pursue that through Deliveroo) - hence the 3 star review - some nice food but let down overall.

Had amazing lunch that brings us back to southeast Asia. Best Malaysian food in Birmingham so far, better and cheaper but even more authentic than Brum city center... √Beef rendang√ is a must try. It normally takes 8 hour ish to make at home, no short cut to reach this authentic flavour, needs sufficient southeast Asian spices.....and here, you DO get the right taste!!!!! Precious!!! √Special migoreng√ was also best of the best in UK so far even compared with London, chicken satay with homemade lemongrass peanut sauce plus fried chicken, fried egg and noodles. Wish they will have more pandan dessert options, will def come back, just because!

Absolutely fantastic. Brought back the memories of eating when travelling there. Highly recommended, but could perhaps do with a cheaper lunch menu with smaller portions as I couldn't finish it all off!!
