Food is very good, competitive pricing, quick service and good atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Outstanding, for someone who isn't really a big fan of Indian food it's one of the best meals I've had, superb service too.

Great amazing food and great service

Amazing food, looked fresh, came out piping hot. Brilliant value for money. Great decor and nice to hear traditional music in the background. The waiters could be a little chattier maybe but it's not an issue as they were still very professional and checked if the food was good etc. all round very good experience and will be coming back.

Really great Indian. Try the halloumi tandoori

Not been here for years. Very busy when we sat down. The waiter gave us menus. Then left us for 25 minutes without asking us if we want a drink. We then ordered. Food took 45 minutes( starters) to come out. Which they forgot one order and bought it out after we had finished the first corse. They apologised and said they will take this off the menu ( which they didn’t) Food came out which was ok abashed Indian dishes. I then asked for water. Which again they forgot. The table next to us was served, drinks, and they came in after us. As they were getting served I interrupted and said I’ve asked for water over half an hour ago I may be with two people with special needs but it doesn’t mean we get forgotten about! I was not impressed! The men on the other table told the waiter to get us water ( I think they were regulars) and the water came. Over all not impressed and will not be going back as the service was bad plus the waiter asked if I was their mum which was a massive insult as I’m not old enough.

Lovely looking restaurant, food was very nice with a great selection of Indian cuisine. One member of staff was a little short and blunt in conversation with us, but not offensive either. Place did become very busy which made the restaurant extremely noisy & we had a hard time hearing each other as well as the staff.... Maybe it's testament to their fantastic food!

Lovely and accommodating 🥰 really enjoyed the food, the sofas, the atmosphere and the staff and chef and bartender and everyone is kind. This place deserves more recognition, classy restaurant and good value

Absolutely beautiful place! Very elegant decor, newly decorated. The food and the vast range of cocktails is ideal! I went in the evening and had an amazing time. Staff are very friendly and helpful in choosing the right food and drink! Totally recommended!!!

Food was nice, shame about the inequality. Mains were nice n fresh, peshawari naan was the worst I ever had, no filling, no honey, no butter. Service tho, when I complained bout naan, waiter said sorry, when next table complained white lady got a new naan straight away, oh well prejudice sees no color bar, shame on u zara, won't be going back again...

Very disappointed, the food wasn’t warm, it was quite bland and not worth the money we paid. Our server was rude to other members of staff in front of us and was not present with us. He made another staff member order our drinks then proceeded to come back a minute later and ask us what drinks we wanted to order and look confused when we said we had already ordered with the other member of staff. We had to explain our order to him in detail as he didn’t let us finish and assumed we only wanted one main, one rice and one side. He also tried to take the starter and drinks away before they were finished. The restaurant didn’t appear to be overly busy so there was no reason for our server to act in this way. The restaurant was lovely and clean and the other members of staff appeared to be friendly. However due to the disappointment with the food and what we paid for that food, we won’t be returning

As a family of 6 who have been to many Indian restaurants, we have all decided that this is the best Indian restaurant we have all been to. Classic dishes with their own signature twist in flavours. The decor is just sunning. Outstanding restaurant

Great food but terrible service. members of staff being rude to multiple people at our table which was unwarranted. Slow serving times and very odd and inflammatory comments by who I presume is the manager. None of us will be coming back again, there are plenty of excellent takeaways in Stortford that have good manners and are capable of delivering the most basic level of service you can expect when visiting a restaurant

It is not the best Indian restaurant in Bishops Stortford. I had better tasting food in other places in Stortford.

Got a take away…. The restaurant looks lovely when you go inside, however my curry and my partners were rather on the bland side of things, no depth of flavour and no real spice. Disappointed as the restaurant looks amazing

Beautiful restaurant, food was okay but service very bad. The entire team needs to be trained in customer service. No warmth or politeness, constantly starring at you and standing too close when you’re eating. Didn’t feel welcomed at all. The men who work there just seem to be clueless when it comes to people skills, definitely not coming back.

Great place and food is amazing. Lots of drinks choices and a modern vibe different from your normal Indian establishments. Can hold large parties and always very welcoming.

What an amazing place, the food is out of this world! Came all the way from Suffolk to meet some family members here and was a little sceptical after a poor meal at ANOTHER Indian restaurant a few months back. However our meal here was absolutely delicious, I may even go as far as to say the nicest I think I have ever had. The Gurkas Revenge was a true delight and not something I have ever seen on a menu, spicey and tasty. All food arrived hot, lovely presentation and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Service was good with a steady flow or drinks, menu is smaller than many indian restaurants but they are accommodating. Give this place a try you wont be disappointed and your pocket wont be too much lighter as its all reasonably priced

An excellent place for some flvuros curry, all ways. The food is super friendly, and they attend to you well when eating there. The inside has a lovely decoration. an excellent place to go with friends or family.

Ordered take away with so many dietary requirements. Team really wanted to listen and made sure they got it completely right. Food all came labelled, and there were complimentary poppadoms included. Biryani and makhani were nice, jalfrezi was ok. It's not the best Indian food I've had, but definitely wasn't bad. Thats why I've given 4 out of 5 stars. I think I would return, maybe eat in one day

The food arrived quick and the service was fantastic. Authentic, warming and fresh dishes and lots of choice in the menu. Also a great mix of desserts rather than just ice cream to choose from! Beautiful interior too!

Great food within a really lovely venue. The staff were attentive and the food came out quickly and tasted great. Would highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for a decent curry house.

It was a great experience and very nice to walk in and be seated especially on a Friday. The food was great and the wine was nice! I would just say that it’s more pricey than a lot of places I’ve been to but that’s really the only reason I’ve given 4 stars. The staff are attentive and the food is amazing!

This is fast becoming my favorite Indian within 10 miles I have been there 5 times and it gets better each time, the Gurkha's revenge has to be the best Curry ever, the staff are great and they keep the atmosphere perfect we always eat in I'm yet to have a take away.

4 of us ate here, it was my first time. Lovely venue but poorly managed, everything took ages, we waited nearly half an hour for drinks, main meal wasn’t piping hot like it’s just been cooked but it was still ok. The food quality was average, probably because it had sat for ages in the kitchen before being served. The staff are unorganised and there seemed to be no communication between them, during the evening we ordered more drinks that took 20 minutes to arrive. When they did, only one drink arrived and we had to ask for the others. When the food was delivered it was unorganised too and the waiter relied on us to tell him what we are waiting for and what was missing. After 5 visits to the kitchen The place was full to capacity but clearly there is no staff management there and they was too busy to cope. We could see other guests waiting ages to be served too. We didn’t order desert as we had been in there long enough and didn’t want to wait any longer. I will be choosing a different venue next time we are in the area as it wasn’t worth the money in my opinion. If I’m paying good money then I expect good service. Shame as it had potential. I score it a 2/5 stars as we was all disappointed

Service excellent as was the food. Really balanced flavours. The setting and the ambiance of the interior helped enhance the dining experience.

First time I've been here definitely won't be the last....

This has been are local indian restaurant for many years and I was very upset about how a waiter responded to are booking. We had booked a table for my mother's birthday and my mother booked it in person and they had forgotten her name and essentially double booked us. Which is fine mistake happen, but the response from the waiter stating. That it isn't his problem was totally uncalled for. Then because the restaurant was very busy. They had to ask the people sitting at are table that had been booked for us to move. Thankfully they did. Anyway shocking customer service, this has been are local indian for over 15 years and not even a courtesy discount was offered on the meal. Shocking.

Fantastic, beautiful meal. All good came up sizzling hot. Lovely Chicken Madras Tandoori Mixed Grill' chilli Nd garlic naan and crushed bombay allo. Amazing flavours all dishes were served up hot on a variety of multi coloured plateware. Absolutely superb! Thank you and look forward to seeing you again. 😄

God dam Zara’s does not disappoint with there curry god dam is it good it’s relatively cheap flavourful it’s extremely filling

10 out of 10! Had the Coconut Crab for starters (incredible) and the House Meat Grill (served sizzling). I would travel a long way to go again, highly recommended!

Lovely indian restaurant in competive bishops stortford food is always delicious prepared fresh but i always have king prawns with white wine, but there is also big selection of gins about 100 and friendly educated barman is making you gin to your taste. very nice highly recommend this indian restaurant. thanks definitely coming back

A very poor experience. The online menu doesn't reflect the current prices by as much as 50%! There was nobody to greet us or the other family who arrived at the same time. The food was massively under spiced. My dosa wasn't a dosa, but well made puri wrapped around unspiced mash with lamb. Though the restaurant was very quiet, a noisy group of four were then seated right next to us which didn't help the atmosphere. Our starters were all bright red with 80s dye but not spiced. By the time our mains came, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot... Heating pumping out unnecessarily. I gave up and went and sat outside and my girlfriend had the food boxed up. Nobody enquired as to why we left early... Nobody seems to care about service, spicing of food and in fact were contemptuous...serving a dish as one thing, when they know it's not. There are several much better restaurants in Stortford

Just recently got a chance to visit Zara with my son. We both agreed that the food was very tasty and reasonably priced (although portions were surprisingly quite large!), friendly and professional staff so definitely I'd recommend this restaurant and we'll be coming there again 🤤

Looks great on the inside but the service wasn’t anything too special, compared to where we have been. You do feel a bit like a number when you’re in there. We were there for a special occasion and booked beforehand bur they didn’t want us to have the nicer seats in the restaurant and it was a struggle to argue with them as they said the nice ones were Booked. Turns out the whole time that wasn’t true and when we left, all the front tables were completely empty still. We also found it a bit overpriced with very small dishes. It’s also not an authentic Indian restaurant which is a bit of a shame.

We had another excellent night at Zara tonight with our friends. Food was delicious and the place has a fantastic ambience. Saturday nights are busy, but they try their very best and the food is certainly worth waiting for. We won't go anywhere else. Oh and don't forget the Gin. Thank you all at Zaras for making our night special again.

Fantastic eat in meal and the best Tandoori King Prawn Masala I've had outside Birmingham. A good atmosphere and we were served quickly and efficiently by their friendly staff. Not cheap but good value for the quality delivered, I'll be back!

Best Indian restaurant in Bishops Stortford

So me mate Adam picked this place for a few of us, he's quite fussy and so we tried it. Ambiance - lovely, top class restaurant good quality furniture and high contrasting colours everywhere, very traditional. Perfect lighting and your not too close to other tables. Staff - our waiter was a top class bloke, he judged us well and was a right laugh with us, gave some good recommendations too. Drinks - sunk a few cobras which they have on tap Food - Got mixed platter starters all very nice, breads bajis the lot. No complaints. Mains, decent curry, we all ordered different dishes and all shared and enjoyed them. They were the standard Indian restaurant dishes, very nice in flavour. Highly recommend the Gurka Revenge, this was as hot as a madras but didn't blow your head off. Overall the dishes were tasty, I'd advise you ask if you want spicy, as they focus more on taste in my opinion. Ask for some 'Naga Pickle' that is a test on your spice level!, Next time I will try a special dish or something not tried before. All in all its a nice setting with ya misses with some decent food.

Absolutely fabulous take out meal it was so fresh and flavoursome definitely 10/10 the Chef out did himself. Always enjoy tasty wholesome meals from Zara and the staff are always helpful and polite - the whole experience is a pleasure from ordering to eating :)))

Absolutely delicious well presented food. Arrived nice and hot and very fresh. This is by far my favourite Indian Restaurant in Bishop’s Stortford. I have tried most here. I will be definitely ordering takeaways from here in the future. I can’t wait to eat in the restaurant when we don’t have to shield any longer and have a lovely Gin in the Gin Room to celebrate . Well done guys yummy 😊

As Indian Restaurants go this is far from the cheapest , but in saying that the food and service is outstanding. It's a smallish menu but some of the home dishes are great. Only to happy to help if you have any requests and the takeaway food is just as good as sit down.
