The team at Cibo Restaurant went above and beyond to provide us with the best dining experience ever! The food there is absolutely delicious, fresh and proper Italian 👌 🇮🇹

Food good but service not up to scratch. Won’t be coming back due service.

Food was very good. A bit of a cafe atmosphere and our table seemed to be slightly in the way. Request a table by the wall.

Awful I came home with food poisoning! The manager/owner is nothing but rude. The fish is not fresh at all AVOID

Food was decent, especially the vegan pizza which was awesome. Service was pretty terrible to be honest, but they may of been having a bad night.

Food was of decent quality, sadly the service was lacking. Ordered a starter to share but only one plate arrived, mains arrived fairly quickly after. I was trying to order another beer but no one checked in for the duration of the main course. Once served our mains no one visited the table once to either check on food or drinks orders. We asked for the bill, no one seemed interested in coming over to take payment. Once I paid the server didn’t even say thank you… sadly won’t be visiting again.

Lively buzzing restaurant. Very friendly staff. I had Sea Bass which was excellent but doesn't need to be covered in a sauce.

First time dining at cibo and it was pleasant. Staff were polite, very helpful and attentive. Food was lovely, starters lovely and fresh, i would say some main meals are better then others and desserts lovely. Lots of families with young children were dining here so a good place for all.

Definitely nothing special which was quite disappointing especially as it was our first time there but I was expecting better. Food was ok but not outstanding, the service is lacking that personal touch and lacking in experience. Might go there again but would be hoping for better.

Delicious food. Friendly staff. Really good value. Only criticism is that on a busy night the bar staff are a little overwhelmed.

Awful experience. Order their gluten free noci, to be served penne. After pointing out the error with my order the management proceeded to have a visible argument with the waitress and the chef, while i sat in front of this meal for 5 minutes only to then be told that, thats what their gluten free version was. Absolutely disgusting behaviour and I will never be back.

Amazing experience, met the Owner Giuseppe. We had the Spaghetti Profumo Di Mare and Lasagna which wasn’t even on the Menu but they made it on request which was very kind of them. Also the Meat Balls were delicious (Polpette Della Nonna).

I recently dined at Cibo with my wife for her Birthday and had a fantastic experience. The restaurant is in a charming location with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Franco, the host, greeted us warmly and made us feel at home with his attentive service. His personal touch really elevated the evening. The food was outstanding, with a menu showcasing fresh, local ingredients and beautifully presented dishes. Every bite was full of flavor, and you could tell a lot of care went into each plate. Overall, Cibo offers a great combination of friendly service, delicious food, and a lovely setting. Highly recommended!

The food was okey but the atmosphere was bad because the manager/owner shouts in front of the clients at his employees. In my opinion, issues should be discussed in private, never in front of the clients, not only because doing so is a humiliation for the employee but also because I ended up with stomach ache by eating my food while this guy was aggressing the waiter. The experience was overall disappointing because of the manager/owner’s behaviour.

By the standards of Italian food in Britain, this is very good. The pizza and garlic bread are good. The pasta was Al Dente (maybe even slightly undercooked), which is unusual. Service was fairly attentive on a busy day. It would be a delight to eat there again.

Fantastic Pizza!! I had the pizza here, and it was amazing! The crust was perfect, the sauce full of flavor, and the ingredients fresh and authentic. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I'll definitely be back!

It was a beautiful evening, the food is delicious and the staff is fantastic, being Sicilian myself I assure you that the food is the best in the area and beyond on a Sicilian/Italian level, absolutely worth trying, I recommend the cannoli as dessert!

EXCELLENT RESTAURANT/PIZZERIA serving typical Sicilian cuisine. Great variety of dishes that make an Italian feel truly at home.. not to mention the pizza, VERY GOOD!! The place is well kept and very characteristic. The level of cleanliness is impeccable. The impeccable service also with Mr. Franco which becomes the flagship of a restaurant culture that is only Italian. I absolutely recommend you try it. Thanks again to Mr. Franco who always manages to find a place for two even when the place is full!!

Everything is excellent, it's nice to find a good Italian restaurant in England! Franco the owner will make you feel at home and the food is delicious even with a menu dedicated to gluten free!

Sadly not as good as it has been. New chef maybe? Food not up to the previous standard. Too many tables packed in making it feel like you are sitting with the people next to you.

Quite the most awful Parmigiana di melanzane I’m tasted inside or outside Italy. Undercooked aubergine, no depth of flavour and minimal layering.

We were so looking forward to try here but unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with both our dishes. Love the fact that everything is freshly made but the pasta was so thick, like it hadn't been rolled and filling was starting to split. Obviously being a Sicilian restaurant I expected the pasta to be great. The pizza was also really disappointing and although it was Divalo pizza it was pretty much covered in only onions and the base was underdone. My other half never leaves anything on this plate but he didn't even finish the pizza. It wasn't a terrible experience but it was mediocre at beast and not sure I would go back to try it again.

Really good place and good food

I'm not one to do reviews, however I went to Cibo on Saturday 10th of August and I can safely say this is the best italian I've ever been too. I would recommend anyone to come here and try their food. Also the service is fantastic, kudos!

A limited and unusual menu, especially for vegetarians, plenty of choice on the wine list but not great for soft drinks. My pizza was burnt and a bit bland apart from the taste of charcoal, my wife's pasta was quite dry, my daughter's pasta wasn't as dry and the other pizza was ok. The waitress wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu and wasn't able to do basic maths to work out the bill. Not somewhere I'd recommend or go to again, overpriced and a bit unpleasant too.

Great Italian experience. Food was excellent. Imported Italian beer too. The staff were attentive and knew their stuff.

I decided to book Cibo for a birthday dinner with family, read good reviews about this place, oh well, I'll let you decide. We arrived and they sat us on a table that had been put there for more turnover i can only assume, My son sat on the steps going to the W.c, three other tables free. So we waited a while to order drinks whilst looking at the menu, I then asked a guy that looked to be either owner or manager for a children's menu, upon my astonishment he put his hand up at me with a stop wait sign and walked away, then didn't even come back, well not the best first impressions. I was going to walk out and eat at another establishment. My wife said no let's see how it goes. Mmmmmm, food nothing exciting I ordered the Spagetti Di Mare. Seafood completely overcooked. Pizza for my son, not the best.. I really don't like leaving bad reviews I'd rather just not return. Though a hand up at me when just arrived didn't sit well. Regards.

Barely average.. soggy pizza... seems like Italian owners with cheap labour in the kitchen..

Food is better than the service. I've been here a few times and I always come out feeling like I'm pleased we've finished. I keep giving it a try as i love authentic Sicilian cuisine and have bought into the family style restaurant, but most often than not, I'm disappointed.

Delicious home cooked food. Well worth a visit for the lunch offer. Or get a big pizza for dinner. Plenty of choice for vegetarians too.

Great restaurant, always busy, fantastic food every time!

Food was great really tasty, service was friendly and fantastic - great place for family and friends. You can also see them make the pizza We got the wild boar tortellini, pistachio pasta, seafood spaghetti and two pizzas, calbrese and parma!

1st time and last time pizza was nice but it was frozen wen it arrived not really good wen ordering a takeaway instead I had to put it back in the oven to warm it up

I love this restaurant, haven't been for a while, came for tea Love the new decor The meal itself was a bit of a let down , my favourites have gone off the menu. We ordered a starter to share it was fantastic 10/10 I ordered a chicken and mushroom dish as a main it was served luke warm so I asked if they could heat it up for me which the server did, I like mushrooms but I didn't like getting a mouthful of grit with every mouthful, ( was very disappointed) as we have eaten here many times and never had a disappointing meal before Next time I visit Bishop Stortford I will return but just not order that dish Staff were great as always 😊

Got a pizza delivered from here tonight and how disappointing , hardly any topping also almost half tomato’s thrown on top wasn’t cooked properly and when I rang up and complained they said they will report it to the kitchen ??? Sorry but how does this help us exactly ? Wasn’t any offer of refund or part refund or anything terrible place

Great food , lovely staff, however the restaurant was incredibly cold, front door wouldn’t close and poor heating, will not be back until it gets warmer

I ate here today for lunch with my family, 4 people. We ate two appetizers (bruschetta with tomato and fried calamari) and then spaghetti carbonara (with bacon and pecorino!), rigatoni with aubergine sauce, gnocchi with pesto and a pizza: all very good and with fresh and tasty ingredients! Thanks to Franco who served us at the table and chatted with us a bit! If you want to eat truly Italian I recommend it!!!

I ended up in this Italian restaurant yesterday with a friend of mine. The service was simply wonderful and the food was delicious as a starter I ordered a ricotta bruschetta and as a first course truly delicious salmon tortelloni. Thanks also to chef Alessio who approached us to make sure everything was perfect As soon as I return to the UK I will definitely return to this restaurant ❣️thank you

Food is really good and slightly unusual. Fabulous pizza seafood pie.

The food here is really good and service was nice. My main course was pasta aglio olio with prawns. It was really delicious. The only complaint I have is, that you pay for it £14 and you get only four prawns and they are not even big. I asked a waitress if it was a mistake and she confirmed that only four prawns are in the dish. But it was still very delicious.

Some of the food had too much cheese...but staff were friendly

We ordered aubergine croquette and they didn't even tasted close to the name aubergine ??? What on earth was in it ??? Definitely no aubergine . Taste was sweet and covered in cheddar ??? Maybe ? Anyway I was expecting an "is everything alright with the food or even was everything ok when the girl came with the bill . My sister who is Italian attempted to ask what was in the croquettes but the waitress didn't even acknowledge her ..apart from this the rest of the food was amazing and the wine too.

We've eaten here a couple of times now and the food has been great on all occasions.

Excellent Italian restaurant, without thinking "it will be the usual restaurant that SAYS it is Italian. It is Italian, from the chef to the staff it is all Italian and I managed to eat really well, and I don't think there are many at this level. Pleasant surprise, unexpected . Compliments!

Food is great, staff a little abrupt

I don't tend to write negative reviews however, was left a little taken back by the service received by the restaurant. We attended as a group of 4 and were served by a young waitress who took our orders, repeating it in Italian as we pointed to what we wanted on the menu (all in Italian and none of us were going to try and attempt to pronounce it). The starters arrived and one of the starters had been completely forgotten and we were told and tried to be convinced, that another dish that had arrived with our starters, some spinach side dish from what I gathered, was in fact what we'd ordered. Again, we pointed to the menu of exactly what we wanted and therefore to be told otherwise was slightly insulting and left one of our table eating on his own. We then received the main courses which once again, the pizza ordered was incorrect for my vegetarian partner who received a pizza covered in anchovies. Once again, we explained this was not what we ordered and we waited with our food going cold whilst the pizza was cooked. The bill arrived and there was no offer of any good will gesture based on the mistakes made throughout the evening by the waitress and therefore, I did ask to speak with the manager. Was very surprised to have implied that this was in fact our fault that the food was incorrect as the 'names do sound similar' and that 'you did eat the food'. Yes, we did when it eventually arrived correctly but that didn't take away from the disappointment of having to each at staggered intervals. After the manageress arguing with us that she didn't think that we deserved a good will gesture for our service at the restaurant, we agreed to pay for the full bill reluctantly when she then agreed to remove one dish however, she explained that she did already remove the side dish, nice of her as this is one that we hadn't ordered in the first place. All in all, we will not be returning and have been left very disappointed and its a shame that with a little bit of swallowing their pride for customers that haven't received the best service, it would have saved them this review being written about them.

great place really enjoyed the food and drinks

Without doubt one of the most authentic restaurants in Bishop's Stortford. Sourdough pizzas are amazing, as is the wild boar tortellini. Service is always warm and attentive – this is a slice of Italy in the town. Family-run and cosy. Always a joy to visit. Oh and the bomboloni dessert (small profiteroles filled with Nutella) are world class! :D

Lovely food, mine and my partners pasta wasn't the warmest but I still enjoyed, I assume it was due to trying to time 5 pasta dishes. Good selection on the menu, although it was different to the menu on the website. We set for an early dinner and glad we did as did get very loud later on. Gets very busy on the weekend be sure to book. The service was a mixture as one of the waiters was alot more friendly and attentive.

It was good without really wowing. We both largely enjoyed the food but the problem for me is all the little things that just don't work. Plastic plants everywhere. Garish Italian scenes on the walls. The menu waiting on the table when you arrive. A strangely small wine list (althought tbf we liked all the wines we tried). More like a tourist's vision of an Italian restaurant than the homely, local spot you hope for.

We used to love Cibo but were very disappointed on this visit. Booking was complicated (3 different times confirmed by email, text and phonecall). No warm welcome. Calamari was very rubbery and prawns overcooked. Tuna steak was quite thin, didn't taste very fresh and again was overcooked. Pizza was good though and better value than some of the other options. Not once were we asked how the food was. Friday night seems to be all about pizza deliveries, with Deliveroo drivers queuing outside and people constantly in and out (annoying and drafty if you're sitting by the door).

I really enjoyed my meal of Calamari and Rigatoni here, felt very authentic and the service was relatively fast.

We opted for the set lunch option. In hindsight it would have been better to have gone for the normal menu, which would have been better value for money imho.

What an excellent little Italian restaurant only 5 minutes walk from the railway station. Our food (mine Aubergine Parmigiana & Salad; his Swordfish) was incredibly fresh and tasty and the service quick, efficient and friendly.
