Zara Continental in Dumfries & Galloway

We Thought we would give the place a try, as its been open a few years and had mixed review. We had aKorma with Rice. The Rice was not cooked with a lot of grainy bits. and the corma was look warm and i put it in a pan and heated it up. We also had a Pizza that was not all that good considering the price. We will not use this place again as better food in Longtown even with the 12 mile trip.

Had 3 meals delivered just half a mile,for which we were stung with a £4.50 delivery charge! The Kormas we ordered were very spicy and the chicken was extremely dry with no flavour. Certainly won't EVER be using them again.ive honestly had nicer microwave meals!

We stayed in Langholm for a couple of nights and decided to try Zara. At first we thought it was just a takeaway but we phoned and asked about a table, there was only us eating in , the service was great and the food was lovely too, lots of choice. My partner said the sheik kebab was the best he'd had for a long time. The naan bread was delicious. The girl who served us was friendly. Very reasonably priced too.

Rocked up with a party of 15, staff were courteous and helpful despite the size of our group. The food, be it starters, pizza or curry, was delicious. I definitely recommend this place to anyone eating in Langholm.

Fantastic food and excellent customer service. All food freshly cooked to order. Nothing too much trouble. I will be back!

Food in the restaurant was hot and well cooked. We enjoyed our visit..even on a quiet mid-week night. Staff made us most welcome. Large menu. Recommend !

The food was very good when we ate there. there was a wee mix up with the food order but overall i have no issues with the food or the service that was provided.

Although this hotel is basic with no frills the room and facilities were as advertised . The staff was welcoming and as our room was prepared we were able to enter early. The hotel is also a curry restaurant so slight smell in stairway but not in bedroom.Thought it was good value for money as we were only there for the one night.

Came in for a takeaway pizza.. been a while since I was last in for a pizza.. but have to say it was very good and throughly enjoyed it.. will be back again soon.

Could be quicker and we rarely get entirely what we ordered but it’s always tasty and really huge portions

Go regularly for a takeaway, large selection of Very tasty food, reasonable prices and friendly staff, recommend the south Indian garlic chilli chicken, also does pizzas and kebabs and burgers if you don't fancy an Indian meal

We were staying at a cottage in Bentpath and went up here for take away one night. While the food wasn't bad, it wasn't great either, certainly not for the price that was charged. Probably wouldn't return.

we were staying at the B+B (see separate review) and though it would be good. The menu looks ok, but the food, although acceptable, is nothing special especially the frozen and heated naan. Service was very slow. The popodums and accomopanyments were however great. In their defence the manager did say that they had had a very recent berevement and that they were short staffed, so we may have been there on a bad day.

Amazing food! Good quality, well cooked and so tasty!! We've had most things on the menu now and I have to say there's not one thing I haven't liked yet 🤗 I recommend the chilli burgers and the pizzas are awesome.

Popped in here before going to donnie munro concert. Despite only 3 other diners we had a bit of a wait as lots of takeaways going out. Food was lovely and piping hot when it did arrive. The toilet seat in the ladies toilet was just sitting on top of the toilet. I removed it and placed it on the floor for safety reasons. Food good but unsure of housekeeping because of the toilet

Nos cobra una comida para llevar desde aquí el viernes por la noche. La gente de allí era excelente y muy amable, se agregaron un par de extras para nuestra orden. Sin embargo, la comida en sí era, en el mejor de los casos, promedio. Puramente en el nivel de servicio que estaríamos dispuestos a dar otra oportunidad, pero sin ninguna gran expectativa, en lugar de esperanza.

La experiencia que encontramos en este restaurante fue la más chocante que he visto! La comida estaba asquerosamente hecha y el servicio era pésima, esperé una hora para la comida y la camarera era desagradable con los comentarios que ella hizo! No le aconsejaremos cualquiera que visite este restaurante y yo no estaremos en una prisa!

Excelente comida en el restaurante fantástica relación calidad-precio, es pequeña y tranquila justo lo que queríamos. gran selección de comida y bebida en el menú debido a estar alojado en el hotel nos dieron sobras en un plato para llevar a la habitación del hotel

Tried to phone order a meal for four people. Phoned three times with no answer. Went into the restaurant to order instead there was a table of 5 in and two people waiting for takeaways. We placed our order at half 7 and were told it would be ready at 8.15, as we were in the phone rang and the staff clearly ignored it (what a way to keep business) we often leave more time when going to collect a takeaway just incase so went back at 8.30 our food was not ready. So we waited as we waited a man came in who had just received his order and his naan bread was burnt and I mean charcoal! The staff disappeared and at 9pm we still hadn't had our food. After waiting two hours for our food it came out no apology or explanation for the time delay if we hadn't had friends over and we hadn't ALREADY paid for it I would've told them to cancel the order. Absolute awful will NOT be back!!

Bebidas llegó otro 15 minutos más tarde. Entonces ella (7:00) tomó nuestra orden de comida. Llegamos a 7. Popadoms 20:00 h. A pesar de repetidas veces que nos dijeron nuestros platos principales serían 5 minutos, nos fuimos a las 8. 15:00 sin señales de nuestra comida. Cuando nos fuimos, un cliente fue llevar a cabo devolviesen el dinero porque de su larga espera.

Gran vegetal biryani y cerveza. Abren un poco más tarde para nosotros. Buenas tardes., buen ambiente y servicio amable.

Had a lovely birthday meal - food gorgeous, staff all very attentive and smiley - will definitely go again - need to have more people using the restaurant - they wont regret it!

Lovely food here at Zara Continental and I often get a take away delivered to my home (often having to wait over an hour when the restaurant isn't busy). The food isn't consistent with the ingredients which is a bit annoying. I enjoy Butter Chicken or South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken and they are often different each time I get them. Sometimes the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken is really spicy, other times it's not. Their sauces are always really tasty though, and the chicken is cooked to perfection.

With living in Langholm have tried Zara a couple of times, have not had a sit down meal so can not comment on that, recently they have added extra to there take out food with pizza kabab etc, so we thought we would give it a try we both had the kabab which comes with normal pitta bread or garlic, also large or small, we both had the large which was massive small would have been enough for me you get plenty, the meat was very moist and tasty, if you are ordering worth knowing if you ask for chilli etc this will come already on your kabab you have to request if you want it in a tub we were unaware of this or would have asked, the chilli is to die for really tasty, will absolutely be ordering from them again

we had a lovely evening out with friends - tasty food and smiley staff with definitely go again! very good value and pleasant surroundings.

The pizzas are amazing, I highly recommend their house special, the base was superb and so tasty and fresh. The people there are wonderful driving to the middle of no where to provide us with such delicious hot food, thank you so much!! Went here for a 40th birthday with a party of 15, and more recently with 3 others, excellent on both occasions, service excellent and the food with delish!!!

Super fast delivery time, friendly staff and the food is amazing, we had the double chili burger, korai and tikka kebab - good portions and beautifully spiced, it was fantastic!

Firstly, I very cheekily rang to see if I could get a delivery 15 miles away, no one has ever delivered to me due to distance so I wasn't hopeful. Within the hour two very polite blokes delivered me some of the best food I have eaten in ages. I come from Burnley in Lancashire orignally and there is a thriving asian community and growing up I managed to sample a LOT of Indian/Pakistani/Blangladeshi food. I enjoy eating this kind of food so much I learned how to cook it.Today, however I was feeling lazy (it IS my bithday) My meal was a Lamb Karahi which I always order from a new takeaway as a litmus test. I asked for a little extra spice (also a little test) and Zara passed with flying colours. A very very well cooked curry with a generous helping of lamb. Seriously impressed.I will be ordering again in the next couple of weeks and if I am lucky, I'll go for a sit down meal.Thank you, carry on you are the best in Langholm and Lockerbie to say the least!

The restaurant was cold due to people entering for takeaways, however the staff were very friendly and attenditive. The food was not bad but fairly average for Indian food. Not the worst, but certainly not the best Indian food I have tasted.

My wife insisted that we came here for our Valentine's meal, at first I wondered if she had lost the plot because of my previous review. But I was proven wrong. We were quickly seated and the usual plastic cheap looking flowers had been replaced with a real rose. There was two staff members on and they were smartly dressed. Our popadoms arrived very quickly. We ordered the chicken tikka for starters. I can't recommend this enough. Once we had finished this, there was around a 5 minutes wait for our mains but this was ideal as to let our starters settle. I had the chicken makini masala and Sarah had the chicken shakuti. We shared a portion of boiled rice as we were advised that one would be enough for two, same with the garlic naan. These were really well presented and tasted fabulous. We got popadoms, 2 starters, 2 mains, portion of rice, naan bread, 2 glasses of Rose and 2 bit bottles of Kingfisher all for £35! I take back what I have previously said about this establishment, and would recommend anyone to go! Massive improvements!

I've eaten here twice now and its been perfectly adequate although I suspect it could have been better. There's no wow factor and the service is a bit unpredictable! I'll definitely go back again as its convenient and as I said it's ok

The staff at Zara Continental are very friendly. The food is delicious. The good thing about Zara Continental is that each of their food can be made to your desired taste which I feel is very good for those who do not like hot food. The staff are dressed very smart and wear shirt and tie. The restaurant itself looks very nice from outside as it is all lit up with colour changing LED's. The naan breads are large in size and well worth the money. There is a large collection of drinks that are stocked behind the bar. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and well decorated. Highly recommend going to this restaurant if you are ever in Langholm ☺☺

Went to this restaurant after hearing some good reviews about it in the crown hotel. Went there with my family and we were merged by a man and a girl behind the bar. The boy takes us to our seat and hands us the menu and takes our drinks order. The girl brought our drinks and took our food order while I assume the original boy was getting our popadoms ready? Once the girl had taken our order, the young man brought our our popadoms (which were free). The owner then came out the kitchen and went behind the bar. The girl and boy that originally served us, were now in the kitchen and the owner was stood behind the bar on his phone clearly watching some kind of video. This could be heard from the other side of the restaurant as we were sat on the table next to the window. The young original boy brought out our food. While we were eating our food, we weren't asked once if 'everything was okay?' or similar. The girl was nowhere to be seen (finished shift perhaps?) and the boy stayed in the kitchen. The new older foreign man wasn't confident when taking phone orders was slow on the till when a customer came in to pick up an order. We were sat with empty plates infront of us and it was only when the young boy came out of the kitchen that the plates were cleared from us. Although he was very apologetic, there was no compensation for us. The food is amazing, the service needs to be majorly improved before i consider going back again.

After a lovely holiday in Langholm with friends I decided to treat my friends to an Indian meal the evening before I left to return home.We decided on a delivery so we could relax and chat in front of the fire. The food was totally unedible. What was supposed to be mild was so hot our noses were running, the nan bread looked as if a dog had chewed it and was half cooked and unedible, the onion bhajis were likewise half cooked and like dough and equally unedible, the rice tasted, smelt and looked as thought it had been reheated.We called, insisted they return, pick up the food and give us our money back, which they did, but only after an argument. A totally disappointing meal made worse by the fact this was supposed to be a special treat to thank my friends for their hospitality.

The food is absolutely superb, especially if you order from the 'chef's specialties'. I would thoroughly recommend Zara to locals and visitors alike for the fresh cooked and healthy cuisine, I eat here maybe 3 times a week and I have never felt better. . . and I have lost weight! My personal favourites are dishes I was unfamiliar with before trusting the chef to cook me something special, like the south Indian garlic chilli chicken or sing sing chadni, which is actually Cantonese and means that this Indian restaurant cooks far better Chinese food than the local Chinese takeaway! Do yourselves a big favour and try it. ..for you will likely become regulars

We stopped off here for some food as we were heading up to see family in Edinburgh. The staff were beautifuly dressed and very welcoming. The food was second to none! I had to set up an account to rtell people about this food at the restaurant. The food is simply great. Highly recommended!

Been living in Langholm for a year now and I didn't know about this place. Drove past it on way to Carlisle on day and me and the hubby decided to go for a meal last Saturday. The girl behind the bar was very polite and showed us to our table. The foreign guy that was trying to take a phone order didn't seem very confident in his job at all but the young guy in the black shirt (boss/manger maybe?) helped him as much as possible. Shows that the front of house staff are close and willing to help each other. The food was amazing. We've been going to Longtown for our takeaways since we didnt know this place was here. If the takeaways are as good as the sit-in food then we will be placing many meals from here. Fantastic, Highly Reccommend it to everyone.

Had read really good reviews on this restraunt so was very much looking forward to tasting the cuisine . Ordered 2 moonlit tikka masalas & a chicken passanda , both of which where tasteless & bland ! The naan bread was hard & over cooked . Bitterly disappointed.

Best curry I've had in years. Popped in on the way home from Edinburgh and used tastecard for half price. Fabulous. Free popadoms and tasty homemade pickles followed by a lovely curry each. Both had different tastes and were really interesting flavours, not your usual Indian curry. Great chef. Friendly service. Can't recommend this place enough. Eat here if you can!

We had a meal here during our stay at the Hotel upstairs. They offered us 10% off for being a hotel guest which I think is fantastic. The portions in the restaurant was great and was great value for money. I have many curries when at home in Dundee and I could not fault this at all. It was the best Chicken Bhonna that I have tasted for years. The Naan Breads were massive in size. The young girl behind the bar lacked a little bit of training but we did notice the hotel manager helping her on the till with a few problems. Overall a really nice atmosphere with really pleasant staff members. Hopefully be back in the hotel soon so will be great to try your food again.From the Adams family

Four of us visited, only a week after the restaurant had opened, and had a lovely evening with a truly delicious meal. A relaxed atmosphere with very friendly, helpful staff, right in the centre of Langholm. We will definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone who likes good Indian food.

Went to the Zara Continental on the opening night with my husband and a couple of friends and it was 1st class would recommend it to any one with no hesitation. The front of house staff where well turned out and polite ,and knew what they where doing , as for the food it was 2nd to none ,I have never had such a lovely Indian meal every item was faultless .I can only say thank you for great service and wonderful food . WE Will Be Back .
