Zapato Lounge in Northampton

The wonderful thing about this place was their gluten free and vegan menus. My daughter is both and almost cried when she saw the range of things on offer. “I have a choice “ she shouted! These two menus were the same size as the regular menus. The Turkish influenced meal I had was lovely. The place appears like a posh Weatherspoons. But it is so much more.

Food was lovely and hot and staff were very warm and friendly!!

A little advice budget venues but very reasonable for most I feel. Portion sizes not excessive which is good in my opinion. I love that there are veggie options but within the normal menu Hot drinks choices are the best I've seen. I felt bad not leaving a tip but shall next time

Food and drink wasn't cheap but wasn't expensive. Food was good quality and arrived promptly. Good service. Perhaps I'm being overcritical, but bingo caller's mic was wayyy too loud which made conversation difficult

I love all the lounges but sometimes it is hit and miss with food quality. The price of smashed avocado brunch on non vegan menu should not be the same as on vegan menu when the only difference is lack of egg. Either substitute the egg with sometimes else, or reduce the price. Also, when Ciabatta bread is stale and chewy...do not serve it

Wonderfully casual atmosphere, deliciously naff decor, chairs and tables "look" random but are carefully chosen no doubt. Same food all day, so you could dine any time you like.

The atmosphere is very nice, the food is tasty. Recommend.

On good friday popped in for drinks, staff despite how busy it was, were lovely and attentive. The drinks were INSAAANE! I had a honeycomb oat frappe and the watermelon ice tea, not kidding, best drinks I've ever had ever. They both are so sweet but not too sweet and have the perfect amount of drink in them. Served in tall cups too, I definitely think you get your money's worth. Will be excited to cone for food and try more drinks. Also in general I'm obsessed with the decor, we sat at the sofa area near the bar which was comfy.

I had heard nice things about this restaurant but I was extremely disappointed. The place was dark and chilly. The food was luke warm to say the least, and the 2 poached eggs on a muffin and a few tiny bits of smoked salmon cost £10. Not good value for money at all. The service was very fast and the staff pleasant.

We have been several times when visiting our son and Zapato’s has always been excellent at catering for our family’s mix of vegetarians and omnivores from the diverse range of food from different traditions on the menu. So when he decided to get married last year we booked Zapato’s for a welcome dinner for all the guests who were arriving on the Friday, the day before the wedding. We booked the upstairs room for 30 people and pretty much everybody had a different meal, some with particular dietary requirements and some with supplements and special requests. We emailed the restaurant in the afternoon with the order and they dealt with it flawlessly. Every order arrived correct and on time and everybody had a wonderful evening. There were so many potential things that could have gone wrong but every detail was correct. A huge thank you to all the staff because it was the ideal start to the weekend and set everything up perfectly for the main event the next day!

Good selection of vegan food options on a separate menu. Food was good, and nicely presented. The service was friendly and fast, although you have to order and pay either via their web site or at the bar. (Food was delivered to the table.) Seemed a bit spendy (£29 for lunch for two, for what was essentially upscale bar food) but pretty satisfied overall.

I cannot thank this place enough they got myself n family in on short notice it was my 60th and they were magnificent food was great service excellent and getting a table for 12 plus priceless thank you xxxx

Lovely atmosphere and food. The staff were friendly and there wasn't a long wait for the food. Would recommend ordering via the QR code at the table, as it was easy and hassle free.

Interesting place, colourful and unique but bit too updated and unkept - furniture is dirty and not at its best, some should definetly be changed Asap. Friendly staff and self ordering option available Food was ok, nothing wow about it. Entire place could use a cleaning.

We came on Tuesday. Had a delicious breakfast no complaints whatsoever. My friends full English looked amazing but my mushroom Benedict with spinach was delicious. Place is clean, lovely atmosphere and staff are very attentive. You get what you pay for so it’s slightly dearer than other places but happy with that as it’s incredible. Well done and be patient don’t think it’s long until the market is done!

Easy to eat as a solo diner. Can either order at the till or via the QR code. The food came quickly, there was a Candel on the table that added to the ambience. It's a shame the restaurant it tucked behind the scaffolding in the square because the burger with sweet potatoe fries was tasty and worth the price. The decor is nice

Never usually have any moans here but today service was poor. 4 of us dining as a birthday treat for my stepdaughter. Meals brought out one at a time and quite slow. Hubby and his daughter waited until two other meals came which by then meant their meals were cool. Dining out as a family means eating together. Grandson specifically asked for no cheese on his meal which was noted when ordering but needless to say his beans were covered in cheese, didn’t complain as we felt he may have been eating on his own if another plate was requested. Same with dessert, brought to table individually. Hope for better service next time.

We went into Northampton on the bus, simply to take advantage of the £2 bus fare that's currently in operation. I'd spotted the Zapato Lounge on Google Maps and as I'm a big fan of the Lounges in general, it was no difficult decision to go there for lunch... So after a little mooching around the square and in the adjacent shopping centre we went in. On entering, it's pretty much like the several other Lounges I use, we picked a suitable table and as always I lodged a card behind the bar against the table number. Ordered drinks and the lass offered to bring them to the table, so I didn't even have to stand and wait... My wife went and ordered the food and another round of drinks. These drinks too were brought to the table for us. When the food came out it was as good as all other Lounges we've used and I have to be fair in saying that it's this consistency of quality and presentation that appeals to us. Wonderful staff on duty who certainly earned their tip and we won't hesitate to visit next time were in town... Probably not the cheapest in the locality but it's not always about the cost in my opinion. 10 out of 10 for us and highly recommended to anyone looking for a decent food, pleasant service in comfortable surroundings.

Popped in for a bit of brunch on a quiet Monday morning. I had the ‘Miami Brunch’ which was delicious.. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Friendlt staff. Looking forward to going back.

Popped in for some lunch. Had some Tapas which was excellent. Will certainly be coming back next time we go shopping.

Breakfast treat out. Great full plate but be wary if you like crispy bacon lol. Gluten free also ordered and asked for no mushrooms but arrived with so returned and replaced, they were very apologetic

Staff is very quick and friendly. Prices are great compared to the surroundings. Portions are slightly small but not smaller that you would find in a pub.

Christmas Brunch with relatives. Good food, great service and warm friendly atmosphere. Easy access from Grosvenor car park. Would highly recommend.

Lovely place! Relaxed, children and dog friendly. Service was great, and food was good, burgers were amazing. Not sure if they have accessible toilet, but toilets we used were up stairs, so not great if you have mobility problems, and the toilets needed attention, no loo roll in two of them and the lock didn't work in the other cubicle. Obviously quick fixes, so hopefully all sorted now. Would recommend.

I am a regular. Not only do they have loads of gluten free options but the staff are really friendly and always approachable. At Christmas there was a slight delay from the kitchen and they gave us a round of drinks free without being prompted.

Very busy coming up to Christmas, but the staff were lovely and the food was as good as ever. We were placed on a table with stools that aren't the most comfortable, but there was no issue with us moving and having our orders sent to our new location. Love the lounge branches as their vegan menu is delicious, and they have plenty of vegan alcohol options, which are clearly labelled when you order through the app. Easy ordering process. Great atmosphere. Always love going to the Lounge bars.

Loved the food and whole vibe service was lacking a touch.

Food was great, the vibe was nice. Overall a good lunch! But the service was very bad. We were with six people, four of us had food, and two had to wait for a good 5 minutes for their food. Why not wait and give all of us food at the same time? They also spilled coffee and didn't give us a new one.

Hummus was leng, litch best hummus ever. Quesadillas with spicy beef 10/10. Very tasty bang bang cauliflower. Overall all dishes were seasoned to a t. Servers were very friendly and easy to talk to, lovely experience

We walked in for brunch on a late Sunday morning for the first time. Not knowing if we were to find a table our be seated we stood at the doorway for a few minutes until I went to the bar to clarify. Once we chose a table and waited we then realised you have to order via the QR code facility. Its all very impersonal when the only time you are acknowledged by staff is when food or drinks are bought to your table. I would imagine this also effects tips for the staff as you have to chose when placing your order. With no staff interaction or food at the point of order what is to tip and few carry cash these days to leave on the table afterwards. A bright point is that the decor and atmosphere is nice and the burgers we had were good. As a successful chain restaurant its clearly a method that works for them but its not somewhere we'd visit again in the future.

I always love going to the lounge! It's reliable nationwide and great quality food! One of the servers seemed to be a bit on edge that night. It wasn't busy it just seemed like he was a bit frustrated to serve us. Apart from that it was good.

Always enjoy coming here, staff and atmosphere is always spot on, however I think for the amount we paid, the portion of chips we received was a bit ridiculous. Food was still lovely

Excellent dog friendly restaurant, the service was exceptionally good as was the food, they are part of a great chain and are all dog friendly. We love the tapas lots of small plates to pick from.

The Zapato Lounge is a chain brand of restaraunts that I really do like, i think their menu is lovely and they have one of my favourite salads here with the chicken and avacado salad. It's refreshing and filling. The prices are not too bad but I do feel their tapas are really expensive for what you get and I think they need to revise that. It should not be more than three pounds each.

Its a bit too loud in their for me but it's worth it because their food is great and the oat milk cappuccino with salted caramel syrup taste amazing

Lovely place for an early breakfast, very similar to its other locations, so you know what you’re getting. The menu is big and has a decent selection of breakfasts/brunches. The gluten-free menu is also pretty substantial.

This place is a hidden gem in Northampton town horrible centre. Amazing atmosphere, very good food and drinks of all sorts. Places decor is very unique and cozy. Officially one of my favourite places.

Went for brunch with my 2 puppies. It was a lovely calm environment and the food was great. Large portion sizes.

Loved this place - just ticks all the boxes! Great decor, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, sensible prices, and OMG what a choice! One of our party is coeliac and this place was highly recommended - I see why! The choice of GF was amazing - the menu was pretty much the same as non GF. We had booked for Saturday, but after a busy Friday, we dropped in thinking if it wasn't good, we would go elsewhere on Saturday instead. Needless to say, we didn't cancel and ate here twice. Tapas was three for £12 and reasonable portions - we tried the honey feta - delicious, crispy crispy arancini, bbq chicken wings, patatas bravas, grain bowl (great hummus), squid rings, and our fave - bang bang cauli. The truffle chicken was mouth-wateringly tasty. The burgers were good and lots of additional sides to choose from - something for everyone. We particularly enjoyed the soft drinks options - sherbet lemonade, a peachy one, a watermelon one - sooo much nicer than coke or sprite, & great for designated drivers. Personally I was a little disappointed at the dessert choices - white choc ( not a thing!) cheesecake, brownie, ice cream sundae and churros - although the brownie and the churros were good! I just like a fruity or light option. And to be really nit-picky, the mac n cheese was literally mac n cheese - no creamy sauce. Certainly wouldn't stop us from coming again on our next trip to N'ton. Now please open a branch in Norwich!

Just had a snack with a pump diet coke ' not much flavour & cake wasn't as fresh as it could be. To be fair that's not the greatest choices off the menu. Usually love the Costello lounges.

So glad we chose Zapato Lounge for lunch Greeted immediately on entry, asked about any dietary issues and invited to choose a table. Our drinks order was really quick as was the food order once we had selected from fantastic menu. ( I’ve already decided what to have next time too) The food was nicely presented and really hit the spot. My choice was the brisket chilli. Wow! Would I recommend it, hell yes. Would I have it again? Yes but for the fact I want to try other menu items. Overall the staff were all cheery, friendly, attentive, professional and quick - thank you. The food was lovely and all wrapped up with a great atmosphere set in interesting and relaxed environment. Loved those Brixton beers too. Thank you team Zapato!

Like many people I’m sure, a bit put off with the building works going on in the Market Square … Don’t be!! A lovely lunch, I had the pulled brisket chilli and stupidly asked for extra jalapeños.. no need wowser! Husband had pulled pork burger, it looked fab. We also started with a few tapas…. Sad to say the puddings didn’t get a look in! Thanks all of you for looking after us x

Always good food, friendly staff and lovely feel to the place with mismatching furniture and recycled flooring. One of the best bits is being able to bring my dog along instead of leaving them at home alone.

On 2/09/2023 I went to grab a breakfast at this place , lady took my order and was extremely rude when I asked for a latte that would not include too much foam on top, she started to mock my request saying that no one usually makes lattes like that anyway, it’s cappuccino I am talking about, I told that unfortunately some places makes this drink incorrectly that is why I am giving this specific request ! After all I’m the one spending money in their establishment.

Burnt toast, rock hard poached egg and burnt, different recipe, too spicy fritters! The rest of the veggie breakfast was OK. Ordered a children's beans on toast for my Grandson's and his toast was burnt too!

Me and my daughter had some food. The fries were so overcooked, most of them were brown and in bits. I complained and was given another portion of fries which were fine. Just funny how the chef thought the burnt ones ok to serve! No one came back to check afterwards or at least offer the price of the chips as a gesture. Had to eat the plant burger while waiting for the fries so not ideal!

Spacious and accommodating lounge tucked away between the hustle of the shopping centre and the never ending apocalypse of the market Square renovations/builders yard. Will it be lovely when it's finished? The view might be slightly improved but hopefully the chain drinks and reliable wide menu cafe food will still be the same. Not a bad spot with noise when it's busy being the only down side.

Lovely service, great food, will go again!

First time I went there I had diarrhoea and vomiting for 2 days. I thought it was a fluke. I went back again and ordered the beyond burger. I bit into it and thought this smells and tastes like beef. The waitress came running over to me saying she gave me the wrong burger and gave me the correct one. She said they were both vegan but the one she gave me was wrong. There is only one beyond burger on the menu. The replacement one was half the thickness and did not smell of beef. So no I would not recommend this place.

Nice to have this is the dieing city centre. One of the only reasons we'd venture in to the city centre tbf. The skinny bloke in the guess t shirt yesterday was very friendly and extremely helpful deserves some recognition for this. Thank you 🙏🏽

OK so why the bad score? Well says food is fresh it is anything but. It has a huge identity crisis with dishes from all over the world. The decor is like it from the 19th century with furniture purchased from a county fair. The young girl who greeted us was nice, but the manager is clueless. Doesn't know what's on the menu and what allergens are in them. Even the supposedly chef didn't know and said maybe nuts in the sauce. Had a milk shake wasn't thick like it should be and was like it was cut with water. Value for money?? Not a chance. £8.50 for a cocktail? Go down the road it's 2 for £9.50. This place needs new owners/managers a proper chef in the kitchen who has full control on the menu. Says its a café but really isn't. Save your time and money and go anywhere else. This place is run by someone who has zero knowledge of the industry and zero care for the place or its customers. They just want your money with no regard for your satisfaction.

All day breakfast and they mean it! I had really really good poached eggs last night. With a cocktail?! Where else can you get that?? Lol. Service kinda average, I do feel like customers have to do a lot of their own work here sometimes, but that's just my opinion. I do like coming here to study etc as it's a nice space and doesn't tend to be too loud.

Ohhhhhhhh runny eggs!!!! Bacon nice and flavoursome. A little pricey perhaps at £7.75 for my lounge eggs with bacon but I would defo order again. Xx

I really liked the atmosphere (went for a brunch) and the service and the food was very good, great value for the money giving the high prices in the UK. We chose the classical English breakfast and the Miami brunch and we really enjoyed it. Also, the cidre was great (old Mount, draught) and I've also tried a capuccino that was tasty. Highly recommend!

Really really impressed with the staff and food here, they went out of their way to make sure my sons allergies were catered for and turned the music down for my dad. We were so hungry, and so shocked by the horrible things being done to the market square, but eating in the historic church's china building, it felt a world away. Whatever awful thing the council do to the square, i hope the zapato lounge is still there.

Staff lovely and helpful with food intolerances. Vegan and gluten free menu. Nice food and coffee. Seating nicely arranged and great decor. Toilets upstairs. Seating outside too. Price for 2 mains (burgers) and 2 coffees was just under £30. We've been for breakfast here too which is nice. Good Vege options too. Unfortunately a few visits now it's not been great experiences. Certain options not available on menue and this visit the chips were oily and inedible. We asked for them to be changed and pretty much the same given the second time. Burgers were cold, prob being to polite we just ate them. Prob won't choose her again unfortunately, which is a shame as we love the atmosphere and staff are really nice but just shy of £30 for 2 burgers and not being hot and chips inedible is rubbish.

Lovely restaurant with great food and service. Drinks are reasonably priced. We visited for a prebooked team meal and didn't have to wait long for everything to be ready and served, and the staff were polite and efficient with requests and sorting meals for everyone. Thanks and see you again soon!

This is the 3rd lounge we've been too and the food and service is excellent, 4 of plus dined this time and we all had the burgers which were very good and love that the lounges are dog friendly. Gluten free and vegetarian are also well catered for.
