Very nice place but the only problem is the food takes a bit too long and only takeaway no eating in which that's fine

Best chippy I've ever been to. Staff are great and make conversation. Love the team and the food.

If you get the fish and chips fresh it's a very good place. For me fish and chips can't be messed up therefore I expect it on point every time and these guys do that 95% of the time. If you go late and get a pre-fried fish then can disappoint.

Awful takeaway. Chips taste like they’d bed sat there for hours. £8.20 for a fish is a joke when the battered sausage had more girth to it. Safe to say it’s the first and last time il be ordering from here.

We've been out of the area so it's been a while since I visited Zan's but it's still bloody marvellous. Good portions, well cooked, well presented and ready for collection - many thanks. Highly recommend the doner in naan bread. My only complaint - trousers are a bit tight now. If tha's from Yorkshur, understand this - it'll do 😁

Very nice fish and chips, worth the money

Excellent food with super staff.

The place was busy, there were a lot of online orders and a queue of people waiting that had ordered. I ordered kebab meat and chips Meal Deal £6.95 I was asked if I wanted some salad, just lettuce and tomato. I was charged £8.25. I stood to one side and went on line to check their menu £6.95 I thought I’ll query it when I get my order. I waited and waited, the queue cleared, new people placed orders and collected them. The staff were getting in each others way, the chips being flung from one side of the shop to the other Eventually after 25 mins, I asked where my order was told “Oh I didn’t get the receipt”, I asked about the price and was told that the additional charge was for the lettuce and tomato, which wasn’t explained when I ordered To be fair, the food was eventually OK but the customer service was Terrible

Ordered the kebab in pitta for £8.75 and it was extremely small. Quality of the food is reasonable but don't order this if you are hungry. Service is reasonable but slow even when not particularly busy.

Not a bad word to say about this place. The staff are top notch and give this Zan fish a welcoming atmosphere. Put a big order in and it was prepared on time. Quality of food is always on point too

Sorry to say this but what a rip off asked for a donner kebab with salad not a salad kebab the amount of meat you could have eaten in two bites shall not be having another

My wife and I had fish& chips looked ok but didn't taste of anything . So won't be going back . No we didn't have covid or anything like .

Scrappy bits of chips, some green

Went early lunchtime ordered 2 small fish. They were definitely not freshly cooked very dry. The young laf was friendly but the girl was not.

Had fish and chips for lunch today, the chips were pretty bad. Couldn't eat them, they went in the bin.

The food specifically the chips were awful. The chips were tough and chewy. They weren’t nice at all. I had to throw them in the bin and only ate half of the chips even though I ordered a small portion. The staff are friendly and it looks clean. But the chips really were a let down. I don’t know what on earth they are doing to them.

Gone down hill over the last few years. I have known Nick for 15+ years and used his shop(s), but this Heatherton store is not good. They often get orders wrong (my wife is just taking a Bread crumbed Haddock back as we ordered a Cod) , the portion sizes (kebabs in particular) have got a lot smaller as prices have risen. I had started going to the Littleover shop, but now find Steve's Ocean Fresh in Mickleover a much better option.

i hate to give a negative review but this is the 2nd time i have been disappointed. For me Zanfish was the best. I had mixed meat and chips, last time i had it on a pittar bread the chips and the bread were fine but the mixed meat was not, the kebab meat was hard, dry and not much of it, the chicken was hard over cooked very dry. Weirdly when i collect its all fine. So what is the problem? is it because its been left for a while and reheated, maybe warmed up it a microwave I don't know but it cost enough so you would expect better. Still lesson learnt, i won't order from them again.

We used to love this fish & chip shop, & the fact they do gluten free is fantastic. However, the last 2 times we've used them, the fish has been really disappointing ( we thought the first time was a one-off). Thick batter, 'grey' thin fish. At £8+ for a fish absolutely not worth it. We won't return. Very sad.

Put in a huge last minute order for my department. Zanfish Heatherton got the entire thing ready with incredible speed and with nothing accidentily left out. Although they unable to provide one of my items, they instead gave me something better and of double the value. They also threw in two free bottles of coke!

Gluten free option available for Saturdays and cooked to order. The question is if this shop can achieve it why can't anyone else? Excellent food with a large amount of choices, well worth a visit.

Some days, chips are nice. Some days it's not nice. Using different Oil? Old Oil? Different Potatos types? I wish they stick to the same taste so I'll know where I to go next time.

We bought 2 fish and chips. The fidh was very fresh tasted beautiful. The fish were very large and the batter was not greasey. The chips were fresh.We shared a chips..still too many for us.Very generous portions

Food is nice but too expensive.

Rang up to double check they do gluten free on Saturday and to pre-order. The man said we don’t do pre-orders before slamming the phone down before I could find out if they definitely did gluten free. Bad omens. When I got to the shop I ordered 2x gluten free fish and chips and a can. I said I will pick up the can when I leave so I don’t have to hold it. He told me it would be 8 minutes. 40 minutes later my order was ready. There was no apology just a ‘thanks for waiting’. On the way out I picked up the can I had paid for from the fridge and left the shop only to hear ‘Come back here! Youhave not paid for that can!’ from a different member of staff. Thankfully the man who did serve me remembered my order but it was unpleasant to be accused of shoplifting. The fish and chips were okay but the GF batter nowhere near as good as at other places that do GF such as Etwall or Stretton. After spending 40 minutes watching customers collect their orders, I came to the conclusion you need to order using an online app to get decent service because if you don’t pre-order online you are treated like a second class citizen.

Very expensive, who sells chips box separately when selling already fish with high price. Also younger staff in evening was not enthusiastic and helpful,also felt they have no respect for customers,treated very casually and one of the guy was very aggressive with sarcastic answering when asked few questions about the prices. Staff really needs good training.

Always great quality and well presented. The gluten free fish are particularly tasty, we have never had an issue with Zan fish. We go every week and the staff now recognise us

Called in while working locally. Usually go to Sussex circus fish bar which is one of the best in Derby where a large sausage, chips and gravy costs £3.00. Here it was a staggering £5.95! Food was ok but won't be rushing back.

Amazing fish n chips. Especially the gluten free days which let's my mrs enjoy it as well Staff were super polite, order didn't take long and overall a pleasant experience From memory the gluten free days are Saturday and Monday A little bit pricey but with the quality you get, you can't complain

I’ve been to this establishment several times, it’s local so I go back. However proximity will no longer win my business. The owner is a rude women. She has no concept of customer service and if you dare mention your chips were cold the next time you go in it’s all your fault. They have put there charges up to the degree it’s cheaper to go to the restaurant next door, I’m aware that all chippies have put their prices up but these are taking it. The Owner is unapologetic about any observations you may have and will charge you for inadequate food. Shouldn’t be allowed to be in business.

Clean premises and helpful staff but very expensive compared to other places - £10 for cod and small chips. Chips really crisp and tasty but the fish/batter has a strange aftertaste which is really not nice and I was tempted to return them and ask for a refund but threw them away in the end. I will not use again.

Superb food and friendly staff at every visit. Having moved into the area recently I have become a regular visitor and not had anything to complain about and can not praise Zan Fish and their staff enough

Chips are cooked with the Fish. Bad Service, The staff are contradicting each other, I get told one thing by one person, get told something completely different by another. Absolutely furious. Everytime I go in to this Zan Fish I always ask if the Chips are cooked in Vegetable Oil and if the Curry Sauce is suitable for Vegetarians. Always yes. I have even asked via Social Media where I was told to ask if I wanted my Chips and other items (Halloumi for example) cooked separate from the meat options. I have stated this on all my Online Orders with them, each time no problem. This week I got told they have always cooked their chips with everything else? Family member goes in today to ask in person as I was unable to and once again, it's always been cooked with the fish. So why was I told it wasn't and it could also be requested?! On Gluten Free day, do they cook items with other breaded items? If someone had an allergy to nuts, is it OK to be cooked in Almond Oil? If items are cooked with meat options then the item isn't vegetarian anymore. I don't mind that shops do this as I just find an alternative, but don't say you do something when you don't. Especially when beliefs and allergy's could come in to it.

Zan Fish Heatherton. Has a range of foods, I've eaten many of those foods a d they are all delicious.The customer service is great, and hygiene in the shop is great too. They have covers and all the staff wear a mask. They also wear gloves to keep your food hygienic. One person always goes willing the worktop where you are given the food. I've given it a 4 because I personally think it's a bit expensive. But it's definitely reasonable if your having a party!

Normally i have good experiences however the last two times ive ordered for delivery, the food has arrived cold and has missed things like mint yoghurt sauce etc.

A generous selection of items available and on display. Chips were crisp and evidently cooked in clean oil to a high standard. Staff efficient, attentive and personable to a fault. A highly effective team. A solid choice for classic fish & chip style food. Would heartily recommend to anyone within distance.

Gluten free Saturdays & Mondays!! We go here every week great for the poor coeliac's who rarely can use takeaways, lovely food halloumi bites are a welcome option for vegetarians and they do pineapple fritters!

As far as local fish and chip shops go, this one is great. The chips are cooked to perfection, as are the fish and the pies. The service is always friendly and quick which is nice and the prices are very reasonable. I have had my fair share of fish and chips in my time and this is up there with the best of them

Not a bad chip shop shame the chips are a little things on the ground being served in a box when your fish is in you don't get masses but what is there is very good

What a lovely bunch. I came for the first time because my grandparents love the place and I see why. Greeted on entry, treated with patience and dignity even if they took their time and the place was busy. The man (maybe the guy running the place) instantly put their order on upon seeing them and was very friendly. The food is amazing, well priced and the entire experience was clean, professional, welcoming. The fish actually tastes like fish, not battered cardboard like I've come to expect from some places. The people complaining about price are the same people who expect 2 pound portions of chips from the 70s and wouldn't know what fresh food tasted like even if they were slapped in the face. Oh, and the friendly girl on checkout heard my grandmother's story about how I live in Japan, despite the pressure on her to get the food out. Absolutely recommended. Support your local and especially if they're running an operation this well. A+

Always been to zan fish to stenson rd site and never had probs,but started going to heatherton as it's closer and what a difference! Staff rude,no customer service skills, and to top it off I found some thing odd in my chips, apparently it was from cleaning?!! Now I'm back at stenson rd shop.
