Zaikaa in Epping Forest

Went on a busy Thursday night, food and atmosphere were exceptional, the servers were polite and friendly, and nothing was ever a problem for them. They also never rushed us considering how busy it was. Thanks for a great night out.

Lovely meal, very reasonable, great veggie options. So much to choose from! Ate far too much. Set the world to rights. What's not to like?

Beat food for miles around, great flavours, and high quality. Try the larger than Tennis balls Onion Bajis,,crispy and amazing as a starter too boot. Been here about 20 times over the years worth the drive from either Billericay and or Chelmsford and many other places

Although we no longer live in Epping we still drive the 40 minutes or so to get here. Birthdays here have become our family tradition. Even with some of our family unable to eat dairy they were very patient explaining to our group what they could or couldn't eat. With a free drink at the end and the manager taking time to speak to us, it's all part of their great service. Make sure you book, it gets BUSY.

Ordered food twice from here and each time I’ve had to to drain off the ghee/oil. Each time my husband felt nauseous after.

Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, food was great, and service was very friendly. If you visit I'd thoroughly recommend the Chicken Biryani! Very happy with our meal.

My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Zaikaa Indian Restaurant last night. On arrival we were warmly greeted by a charming waiter who looked after us all evening and explained the different dishes on their extensive menu. I chose the Bangalore Chicken Curry while my sister ordered the Tandoori King Prawn Curry. Both our meals were delicious. In fact, we agreed that in all our years of eating in many Indian restaurants around the UK, the food was the best we had ever experienced. Everything was first class, from the service, ambience and above all, the superb food. This restaurant would not be out of place in London’s West End, with its white table cloths and attention to detail in every aspect. Situated above a parade of shops in Epping High Street, the Zaikaa deserves the highest recommendation.

Food here and service were amazing. My girlfriend had the salmon bhuna which she has been thinking of for days afterwards! We'll definitely be returning when we're in the area.

Very fancy restaurant with amazing quality food with good pricing. The customer service is above and beyond. I had ordered a meal I had not had before, and the owner came up and asked if I liked the food. I said I thought it was good, but thought the dish would be spicier. (Because of my expectations, not the way the food was prepared.) The owner said the food can be made spicier and immediately offered to prepare a whole new meal for me, free of charge. Would strongly recommend.

Congratulations Zaikaa, you served my friend and I the finest Lamb that we have ever eaten in any Indian before, anywhere in the country! So tender, so fresh and great portions! I highly recommend the lamb or chicken Lababdar, a rich tasting North Indian dish served with pilau rice, however, here comes the rollocking... the dish became quite watery after adding the pilau rice which less than impressed my good friend. He is also an expert in curry. The place was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they even charged my ecig for me. This is one of the places that I wish was my local...I'd be eating from here most nights. Mr Curry.

Great food and service. Good selection of dishes, all the usuals plus some Chef's specials. Deceptively spacious as well. It's located above another shop so it's easy to miss if you haven't been before.

The food was ok not been there for quite some time. The starter was really really good. The main meal was plentiful. But not the best curry served up in a bowl. The breads and sides ok . The service was very good . But the atmosphere there was none . We were lucky that there were 7 of us . But Friday night 8.30 6 other people in the restaurant. Unfortunately will not be rushing back . Hope it Improves very soon .

What's not to like, the food here is always good and the all you can eat buffet is outstanding

Food is very good and the service is impeccable - highly recommended. We have been here many times on different days of the week and service remains at a very high standard, a warm welcome always awaits.

First time visiting Zaikaa tonight. Food was excellent; brilliantly hot, tasty and good portions. Staff were attentive and went out of their way to chat with our toddler and check everything was ok for her. Thank you - we will be visiting again.

Great place for a curry, wasn't sure what to have- the waiter asked me a couple of questions and recommended a dish and it was superb.

I had an amazing birthday meal ,booked a table over the phone and told them it was for my birthday,they surprised me with beautiful balloons,banners and table confetti.The service was welcoming and the food was lovely .Definately will be returning 100%.Thankyou so much for a beautiful memory Sam x

Attention to detail was faultless. Waiters stood by to fill your glasses and talk you through the menu, clear dishes etc.. Without hovering or lurking. We had a peaceful, delightful meal.

My wife and I visited early evening on a return from London, we couldn’t see chicken chat on the menu and we asked if it were possible to make it for us, not Bly did they happily make it, but as the attached photo shows, the presentation was Michelin Star worthy. The rest of our food was very good and will return. Impressed with their service and polite attention to customers.

First time visiting there and definitely the last. Food is not even 10% authentic. Very disappointed. If someone wants to have authentic Indian food go try other restaurants like Dishoom

Wednesday and Sunday banquet deals excellent values. The starters are the best for me. The mains are good, nothing special. Some currys are particularly sweet. Rating based on value which is very good. Been back more recently and whilst the mainz tasted better very little meat. 3/4 small peices of lamb and chicken per curry. Unfortunately wouldn't go back again.

My friend and I went there for a meal on Saturday night. The place was heaving. We were placed on a very small table very close to the next one. It made private conversations quite difficult. My friend had to send her glass of wine back twice as it tasted odd, to be fair it was taken off the bill but spoiled the experience. We did not order over the top, but the waiters still struggled to get it all on the table as it was so small. Food was ok

Went Saturday evening,waited an hour and a half for our meal,then one was wrong.the place was absolutely mobbed and nobody staff or customers wore masks.

First time visiting here, and won't be my last. The food was excellent. Highly recommend this place. And the staff were very friendly too.

Excellent meal and excellent service

Only had a takeaway, but will be back to eat in.. Good portion size. Chicken and Lamb was cooked well. Kids enjoyed their Chicken tikka. Chicken Pathia could have been hotter (spice), it’s usually ‘one up’ from a madras . Nothing was oily . Very friendly staff. Another review mentioned refurbishment? Maybe it’s been done , I thought it was really nice in there, and certainly didn’t smell . I sat there with a beer whilst I waited for my order, seemed to have decent wine on list too, which isn’t always case with Indian restaurants. Having recently moved to Epping , glad to find a new local “go to” curry house

It's a really great place to eat. Good menu options, engaging staff (happy to chat and joke) and nice and clean. Perhaps the drinks menu could be a bit more exciting, or go byo and lob on a bit of corkage - I'd pay it.

Food terrible, reheated samosas, cauliflower mustard without mustard! Mutton: not lamb as on menu, What a bad place. Just give you any old rubbish and take your money when I complained I was in the wrong! How was that??? I Have eaten at hundreds of Indian restaurants and this one has won the gold medal for the worst. Please please stay away, it would be better to stay hungry than to eat the third rate food (muck) served st this place

Friendly atmosphere and good food

Tried this place which is up The rd normally av the vojan and the Loughton chilli but thought I'd give it a go And now wished I hadn't dearer than the others And I must say not a patch Tasted like dishwater mixed wiv a pataks homemade sauce all our dishes tasted the same Which I must say wasn't pleasant A massive 👎and seriously nudged me towards not eating an Indian again very droll

The restaurant itself need re-furbishment urgently. It stinks and not very good to have a special food.

Very disappointed with my take away, usually very happy. No taste in my lamb korai and my daughter had chicken bhoona, we both agreed there was no difference in taste of either dish. £25 wasted.

Our first visit for eat out to help out. Attentive staff providing and excellent service and the food was probably the best Indian cuisine we have eaten, as we are local will also have to try their take away service.

The food is too sweet for us. I felt like I had a few spoons of sugar in my mouth ( ordered Paneer Makkani and chicken Tikka). If you are an Asian, I would avoid this place. It's a bit overrated.

Good place to have Indian Cuisine

Hands down the best Indian around. Food is always great and service is exceptional. As an Asian who knows his Indian food there food is superb. Have been there a number of times for eat in and takeaway and its always been great. One of the guys (Tanbhir) is brilliant and all the staff are great. I would highly recommend.

Fitted us in last minute despite being very busy on a Saturday night. staff very friendly and the food was lovely. Really happy we found this place as we were only in the area for one night.

Nice place to come for ruby. Everything seems very clean and tidy, upstairs but that wasn't too much of an issue (Might be if you're a bit worse for wear.) Had the Tandoori duck for starter and it was the perfect size portion of duck breast with a little salad and very nice. Had a lamb tikka vindaloo with mushroom pilau and sag paneer for main, all very good. The perfect amount of heat to taste ratio. Sag paneer was a little too sweet for my liking though. They ran out of Cobra beer halfway through the meal but the kingfisher sufficed and we got a free shot at the end. A little on the pricier end of the scale for an indian, but you get what you pay for foodwise and it's worth the extra not to have to use a toilet that seems more third world than the food.

Staying nearby for work and really fancied a curry. I was so pleased to stumble upon this place as I walked up the high street. The service was fantastic, both staff very attentive. I ordered dishes that weren’t on the menu, but making these up for me wasn’t an issue at all. The food arrived and it was exactly what I wanted. The flavours were unbelievable. I highly recommend this establishment.

Food is always excellent. First time here after moving away for couple of years. Food and atmosphere still excellent. One of the best Curries in the Area.

We ordered a selection of curries for 7 people including 2 kormas and 1 pasanda. We collected on time as requested. When we returned home and dished it all out we discovered the pasanda was a korma. There is a subtle difference and perhaps they thought we wouldn't notice but by comparative tasting, it was obvious they all tasted exactly the same. I did not wish to return the pasanda as we all wanted to eat together so although the rest of the items were good, failing to deliver what was ordered I can only give Kaikaa one star.

Vibrant and buzzy in here without being rowdy,all the staff were welcoming,we asked not to be rushed as we wanted to have a nice evening in here,and was told you take your time and tell us when you want your food ,which was nice for a busy place,food was spot on even done a dish that wasnt on their menu and that was also great Thank you for an excellent evening

A very family friendly authentic Indian style restaurant. Great food, well presented by incredably knowledgeable and helpful staff. Highly recommended. They also offer a takeaway service. Very reasonable prices for a wide selection of ver tasty dishes.

Food is delicious. Some really nice curries with tender meat. Service was slightly slow but very apologetic when realised we had been sat waiting for bill for a while. Friendly staff. Would recommend and will return.

Another amazing meal with great service

I have to say that the service and attention to detail was spectacular. I prepared beforehand with a few conversations over the phone to make sure they had everything organised. My friends commented long after about the quality of the food. To be fair this was like something else, the naan bread was so fluffy, the chicken amazingly tender. Just fab, go for it if you have a special occasion to organise.

This is our favourite Indian Restaurant as the standard of food is always very high. The choice of menu is excellent and it is one of our favourite places to eat out with the family.

Another visit to my favourite Indian Restaurant. Very busy Saturday night but after a slow start service and food was up to its usual standard. Yes you do have to wait at times but the food always rewards you with its flavour and presentation. Just relax and enjoy!!

I will start the review off with a positive, the food is really good one of the best Indians around this area. But the staff are slow and didn’t seem to be bothered with taking our order. We had to ask to ordered our main meal. It’s such a shame as I have said the food is amazing. If the service improves you should get 5 stars.

Visited Zaikaa for first time on Sunday, had a lovely time & will return. Great food, lovely staff & nice atmosphere. Sunday Banquet offer made it a very affordable evening. Thank you Zaikaa.

I went to zaikaa with my friends for a birthday party last Wednesday.

Let’s start with the positives, which won’t take up much time... this restaurant has quite a nice atmosphere and is clean. The food is also very well presented and the naan breads and poppadoms were really fresh. Unfortunately the rest of the food doesn’t have any flavour whatsoever. We ordered the spicey prawns to start, which were just frozen supermarket prawns in a tomato sauce with chillies thrown in. For mains we ordered the Garlic Chilli Chicken and a Jalfrezi. I asked for mine to be extra hot but neither dish had any spice whatsoever (apart from some whole chillies thrown in). Both dishes were just chicken in chopped tomatoes. On top of the food being really disappointing, the service was slow despite the number of waiters clearly outnumbering the occupied tables. We would have overlooked this had food been decent but all in all would not recommend.

Have been going to this restaurant for quite some time, and never had a bad meal but the last time we went the food was not so good, maybe they have a different chief? But worth a visit, nice friendly staff.

What a night at Zaikaa. Well worth booking fully packed restaurant staff coped amazing food was lovely, Live singer got everyone going perfect night to end 2018.

Absolutely brilliant. You can't go wrong with Zaikaa if you looking for a great Indian taste. Staff are always good and friendly too. Well worth it.

We are blessed with four very good Indian restaurants in Epping and Theydon Bois and, for the time being, Zaikaa just about takes the accolade of being the best.

Very disappointing dining. Although the front of house was excellent with attentive, friendly and well presented staff and a clean, relaxed environment (although the modern lighting is a bit over the top), as well as a nice drinks selection and a good location in Epping high street, the whole experience is let down by the absolutely terrible food. A bowl of generic, likely bought in, red sauce with a few pieces of meat dropped in is not a curry. The fried foods tasted of old oil and the rice was mush. What an embarrassment. At least the naan was tasty so well done to whoever was on the tandoor oven. Sack your chef and sort your kitchen out.

Had early dinner here recently after reading some of the reviews to make a change from the Raj. Service was good but the food was actually inedible and we're not fussy eaters at all. The meat in the lamb and chicken dishes was old and tough the sauces were raw and thin not pleasant to eat. The nan was doughy and chewy and the onion bhajis were greasy, so alas we'll not be going back. The Raj although hit and miss on service is far far superior on food.

Lost count of the times we have eaten here. Arguably the best of the Indian restaurants in Epping. Friendly, efficient service and the food is unfussy, very well cooked and tasty, big portions. Never had a bad experience here and will be back again soon!

Had a nice evening at Zaikaa with my boyfriend but there was little things that could have made it a bit better.

10 out of 10 for excellent food and great service. I really love going here and I try to visit as many times as possible. A definite favourite!
