Five of us dined here on a Wednesday evening, the first visit for all of us. The decor was nice (far less clinical than the Indian restaurant next door!). The staff very pleasant and helpful. We had poppadoms and pickles to start which arrived promptly. For mains we had chicken korma, butter chicken, a biryani dish, rice and various nan breads that were all hot and tasty. The restaurant only serve soft drinks but you can take your own beer and wine. Wine glasses are already on the table and when asking for water we were each given a small bottle free of charge. Just wondering why we were the only diners that evening (so we had our own private restaurant!) when the food was so good. We will be back!

Zaika has not been open very long and husband and I were looking for something different in the area that was not a pub or takeaway, Good restaurants around here are difficult to find. We also enjoy having a meal out mid-week rather than Friday or Saturday. The impressionon walking in was that Zaika is light, airy, clean has air conditioning that runs quietly, no loud music over which one has difficulty talking. Lighting is gentle. Table clothes spotlessly white and proper fabric napkins. Tables not cluttered with small vases or tee lights. The male waiter was clean and fresh looking even though it was a very hot evening, moved around quietly, attentive in a discreet manner. Knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with our choices. I wanted a paneer dish, of which there were two to choose from, both I would have eaten but he suggested saga paneer over mottar paneer. It was listed as a side dish but he mentioned I could have a larger portion as a main - it was really nice. My husband had the special biryani that was also very nice. The temperature of the food was good and also the plates for the main course were hot - briiliant. The starters seekh kebab and tandoori king prawns were moorish, beautifully cooked. I also enjoyed the plain lassi and had two. Will be returning and will take visiting relatives and friends.

Really poor service this time. More interested than arranging the takeaways on the phone. Ordered and paid for coffee waited 35 mins and it didn’t arrive . Stood by counter for another 10mins while they sorted telephone orders and were told they don’t do coffee . Excuse was new owners . Shall not be returning if this is how it’s run . Many more places locally with good service
