Yumchi Leicester in Leicester

This Chinese is really bad the worst Chinese I have ever had. I ordered it on Just Eat on Wednesday. It ruined my evening. NOTHING HAD FLAVOUR. The curry sauce was lumpy and did not taste like curry sauce it was grim. The egg fried rice had no colour or flavour and it was just dry. The chicken balls and spring rolls were just full of oil they were foul. The chicken chow mein had no flavour whatsoever and the chicken was hard and the noodles were so dry. The chips were so dry, tasted really off, really hard and were a dark dark golden colour which means the oil was old. The sweet and sour sauce was disgusting It was burning my nostrils that’s how vinegary it was. Honestly do not order from here it will ruin your day. Delivery came fast though I did give them 5 stars for that. It came in about 20mins which is a red flag for a Chinese because it normally takes about 45-60min or longer because things are normally made made upon order, so this indicates non of this food is fresh. This was a waste of £22.51 literally ruined my evening. Did not finish my plate or go for seconds. I threw the food in the bin did not even want to take a picture of the plate it was atrocious. I have attached the ordered I made, so you can all see i really did order and not to waste your money here. The other reviews are lying to you.

Ordered a takeaway as the usual place was closed for a few weeks. The food arrived earlier than stated and was real hot and fresh looking. Had a range of dishes as one of us is vegan. The food was really tasty and all of us really loved it it. Will use again as better than our usual place.

Prompt delivery, unfortunately- didn’t have specific ingredient in stock but contacted me to change the order which I enjoyed just as much! Crispy seaweed with cashews was vvv good!

Heard this place was under new management so wanted to give it a try - such a novelty to find good halal Chinese food! We ordered a lots of different dishes, loved the chips with prawns and veg, ordered a few different noodle chow meins and a Singapore noodle - the flavours were really good! My husband loved the beef and egg fried rice. Would definitely order again. Also loved that it wasn't heavy or greasy like so many can be, highly recommend.

This used to be my favourite Chinese in Leicester. It must be under new ownership because the quality of food has completely changed. Real shame and so far have been unable to match the same quality anywhere else

Years ago it was really good but over the last 2 years it has been bought by a Pakistani man and the quality has dropped since. No more pork on the menu, food tastes bad, quality is just dirty. DONT BUY FROM HERE!!!

I ordered with my friend yesterday and we got the crispy beef in spicy sauce and chips. We were extremely disappointed when we received the food as the crispy beef was literally just fried batter it had absolutely no beef in it. We also chose the go large option but as you can see in the pictures the amount of food was definitely not much. WASTE OF MONEY. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL

I had ordered from them about 2 hours ago and we had called the driver and he refused to order the food we also called the shop and they refused to do another order or at least find out where the driver they have sent to order our food, absolutely disgusted and appalled at this service

It was our go to chinese but since it is now under new administration the quality is not good at all,today i ordered from there,there wasn’t any Chinese chef available and an indian man was cooking food coughing and eating at the same time,i’d say its going to be the last time i would order from there,food too oily,chicken in black bean sauce looks like soup with no taste at all! Please order from somewhere that is worth your money!

Couldn’t be arsed to remake my Uber Eats order when the delivery driver stole it. Left me waiting nearby two hours before cancelling the order and shutting up shop for the evening. When I called up the person on the phone barely could muster the energy to talk to me as he was having a conversation with someone else there!

Disgusting food. I wouldn’t give it to a stray dog is was that bad. Ribs were slimy and full of fat and looks like the worst cuts of meat that’s been half cooked for months then rehashed in a wok and horrible sickly sauce tossed over them yuk. The Singapore rice rate like Indian cooking and was sickeningly horrible . I threw away the meal as I just couldn’t finish it and wasted 15 quid. I felt sick

Took my money for an order on their website, got there to pick it up and they’re shut. Not answering telephone. EDIT: 1 month later, still no refund of £27.66 which I was told would be refunded within 21 days

Food poisoning.- save yourself and just don’t order. If I could give a 0 I would. Very disappointing spent £33 for 2 of us for a nice weekend treat and now we are left feeling extremely unwell and bed bound. I do not recommend…

There should be a choice for 0 stars. The food was disgusting and on top of that both me and my partner got food poisoning! Waste of £35.

The chicken chowmein lacked all of the flavours. The crispy chicken was good and the only saving grace of the takeaway order. There are better options available I think if you want a great chicken chowmein.

The meal had a free drink which they didnt tell me and the egg fried rice didn't have a spec of egg in it...just plain rice.no veggies or anything..bad can say...not enough crispy chicken in quantity but loads of onions.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star. Missing items, called them and got told that they had someone new working for them that couldn’t understand English. That’s your excuse? Food is absolutely awful by the way and staff are rude. Weren’t offered a refund, just told that they ‘would sort it out next time’ as if we’d go back…

One of my dishes was kung po chicken.. came with prawns instead which I'm not a fan of. Salt and chilli chips tasted like plain chips. Chow mein tasted bland. Never again!

I've ordered a few times from this place because it used to be good but that's no longer the case sadly. The picture below is supposed to be roast beef and ribs with egg fried rice 🙊. Taste was bearable and you can eat it you're hungry but don't expect to enjoy it sorry.

If I could give no stars I would it was absolutely disgusting special fried rice tasted like mouldy oil with frozen chicken cubes over cooked prawns frozen peas hard bits in the rice and the duck I had was just a peice of fat I did ring for a refund as I couldn’t eat it at all although the man was pleasant he said they don’t do refunds but I can have a fresh meal but honestly I wouldn’t want it il take the loss! I’m scared I’m going to be I’ll tomorrow from the bits I did try utterly disgusting! The photo is suppose to be special fried rice I’ve fed my dog better meals.

I would rate it no stars if I could. Absolutely terrible service. I received raw chicken dumplings and when I called and complained he answered very rudely and then went on to reassure me saying the dumplings were ‘fine’. Asked for a manager and he was away. I wanted a refund and he kept cutting the call and refused to call me back. Would never order from this terrible place. Poor customer service.

I had a hitch with my yumchi order tonight, rang them and they fixed the hitch immediately. My omelette was beautiful and the closest I can get to King Prawn Fu Yung. Thank you Yumchi in Leicester. Kate.

I'm very angry that they have removed all the good things from the menu. Like the pork dishes and all the different types of dumplings. There's nothing worth ordering anymore.

Ordered from here, waited over an hour for it to be delivered but no food delivered. The Phone number & apartment call button outside the building number we’re provided but NO call on either, called them to receive a rude obnoxious man on the phone who didn’t want to help and stated it was our fault as we didn’t answer, even though no call was received. The man then hung up the phone when we were trying to sort out our food & had no interest in helping. 0/10 for customer service & will not be returning. 25/03/22 5:30pm Who ever answered that call needs to lose his his job. Generally good. Mrs had the prawn and I always have chicken. The portion and price is ok. Would recommend generally. Staff ok too.

ordered food online ordered a yum box and a portion of chips paid online food arrived and the chips were missing the delivery driver wouldn’t help so i phoned the restaurant with a rude man arguing telling me they check the orders before they go when they obviously haven’t as my chips were missing and they wouldn’t send the chips out as they had no drivers available worst customer service will never order again!

My friend and I have been like multiple times and order many things from the menu and have not been disappointed. As well as the staff is very nice and friendly to speak to and helped us with our order. Definitely recommend it and it’s the best Chinese spot in Leicester!!

Absolutely awful service I order food on just eat at 6.15 was told the food should be here at 7.15 - 7.35. I have no problem with that. At 7.25 I get message saying its with driver. At 7.35 I get messgae saying on its way. At 7.40 I get a message asking what my rating wss. At 7.50 I call restaurant they say it's out with driver. At 8.10 I call restaurant as still not arrived and they say its going to be another 10/15 mins. Food finally arrived at 8.35 and was cold. No apology from driver or reastaurant. I would not recommend this takeaway at all. Poor delivery time and poor service when I called restaurant for updates. Been.customer for.years NEVER AGAIN

Ordered a set meal for two and had it delivered to Highfields. Food was generally very nice but they didn't include the free prawn crackers or soft drinks. I'd definately consider offering again. Chips in the picture were made by myself, no I don't deliver.

Under new management Food is nothing like it used to be . ordered my regular box and it was disgusting and they added egg without me ordering and when I complained and stated I was a vegetarian lady over the phone rudely stated vegetarian ppl eat egg. Disgusting customers service lost a good customer after I have been ordering for the past 20 years Noodles were dry and over cooked and had no seasoning not like the old management

Gave it a try, unimpressed and won't order from here ever again. Veg basically raw, tofu in szechuan marked as mild but in reality extremely spicy so ruined my main, spare ribs weird, tiny and sad, dumplings and prawn toast subpar, chow mein ok but pretty dry, other items at best average. Arrived stone cold. Waste of time and money.

Ordered a Deliveroo takeaway tonight and I can tell you it was the best Chinese I have ever had in England, had vegetables spring rolls, vegetables dumplings and a chicken chow mein, OMG the starters were awesome, BUT the cow mein it was incredible, so tasty if you’re around Leicester and fancy a Chinese please choose yumchi because is the best 15/10

Tofu dishes are tasty, Sichuan and the spring onion and ginger sauce both recommended for vegans. The food is always tasty, cooked fresh and quick. It's cash only so be aware before you collect! Friendly staff too:) best Chinese food I've found in the area

Ordered my food online fine. Waited over 30 mins for delivery, the delivery driver phoned me and said he would be a couple of minutes and that he was close. I then went outside to wait. I stood outside for 20 mins before I decided to ring him and ask where he was. He then INSISTED that he had already delivered it. I, standing outside in the cold without my food, disagreed. The delivery driver told me he gave my food to a man at the door, without asking for proof of order or anything. The man continued to be nothing but rude, so I phoned Yumchi and spoke to a lady. Admittedly she wasn’t as rude as the delivery driver. After begging and pleading (as they wouldn’t give me a refund), they made my order again and delivered it. This delivery driver (different man) then interrogated me at my own front door, accusing me of trying to get another free order. By this time, it had been 3 hours since I first ordered. Admittedly I was rude to the man at the door and asked him to give me food and leave. I’d had enough of the accusations at that point. Why would I go through that much struggle and dealing with RUDE people for a free mediocre chicken chow mien?!?!? I just wanted what I paid for.

Best Chinese takeaway food for cheap. The yum box just costs 3 pounds and with toppings was £ 4.70. You get to choose your sauce from a list which is included in the price. They also offer a meal box for 6 £. Remember to withdraw money as they only accept cash.

Where to begin, PREorder placed at approx 4:45 to arrive at 7:00. It was meant to be eaten with my 70yr old dad who is unwell. The restaurant sent it out at 5:45 and he ended up paying for it out of politeness. I didn't arrive until 6:30 so my meal was disgustingly cold and when I complained I was asked "what do you want me to do?" A refund obviously! None was offered. Absolutely disgraceful. A good choice of dishes, and reasonably fast time to prep orders. Also serves fortune cookies, which is always a plus in my book.

Ordered 3 meal boxes, ordered sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, chicken curry and crispy chicken with salt and chilli all with egg fried rice. All meals were amazing, plenty of meat, the curry sauce is beaut and the egg fried rice to die for! Will Deffinitly be ordering again, also arrived early with a notification that the driver was on his way through just eat. Fab take away

Very Very Very rude staff! its a big shame because their food is great. Food wise, I would definatley recommend to anyone in Leicester however staff are Very rude and arrogant. i was a new customer and was made to feel in a rush because I was deciding what I wanted to eat and had not decided before coming in. It seemed somehow, me deciding was wasting their time and inconveniencing them. Once my food was being prepared I ordered something else on top and the owner sighed and was very angry telling me ''make sure your done.'' On leaving he forgot to add my drink to the bag and when I told i'm in forgot, he started speaking in Chinese to his chef, clearly about me. They are very rude and they don't care to show it.

Ordered here today for the first time, food was very good and tasty, but the delivery driver was very rude and lazy, she wouldn't get out of the car, i had to go out to her and then she refused to lean over and open the car door, so what are delivery drivers getting paid for? Customer service could be a lot better, especially as without customers there would be no job for them!

If you order food from this shop, please always be careful when chewing because you can't escape a piece of small stone especially in special fried rice and also a staple pin.

Rubbish! Rubbish! Rubbish! The customer service is terrible! I ordered food from this place and waited for an hour for my food to be delivered. I waited till the time they said they’d deliver the food.. delivery man was nowhere to be found. Then I phoned the restaurant to ask where the delivery man was. The lady I spoke to told me that he came there and waited for half an hour and they tried to ring me several times. Never received any missed call from them. Please don’t waste your time or money. The lady did not allow me to speak very rude!

The customer service isn’t so great they seem to be annoyed at you even though when you’re paying into their business. The wait for food is quite long too.

I ordered a yum box which came with a choice of side - egg fried rice, Singapore noodles etc and a main meat choice for an additional cost. Sauce was ‘free’. I went with egg fried rice, sweet chilli sauce and chicken. I must say that the food stays hot for a VERY long time. I live 2 minutes away and heard of the great things that everyone said about Yumchi. I was not disappointed! My food was delicious and they truly packed in a significant amount of food for the fair price it was (£4.60 I believe). Will be back soon to order the same thing!

Char siu buns 2 for £4.50. Absolutely vile rip off!!! Tastes sugary ,and had huge bits of paper stuck to the bottom, iv updated the photo! Would love a refund but no way am I bothering with the bad mannered staff here!. King prawn balls have changed shape strangly, there long? Not round or curved. Finally give up on this place

First started having their meallboxes 4 years ago, when they cost £3.65. Love the food though the balance between rice and sauce often leaves a lot to be desired. But it's nearly doubled in price over those 4 years. Ordering via Justeat makes it even more expensive. You can only pay cash now when you collect. The 'free drink' with the mealbox includes fluoridated and chlorinated water and the food comes in polystyrene boxes. To sum up - difficult, stingy, expensive and unsustainable

Best Chinese takeaway I've had. Don't care what anyone says, it has made my uni days in Leicester so special. The owner can seem a bit matter of fact sometimes indeed, however I've had very good customer experiences with him and he always smiles when my boyfriend and I are visiting.

Delicious chicken wings and rice noodle

These guys do a number of things you'll struggle to find elsewhere from a Chinese takeaway - such as dim sum - which makes them a really good choice if you want a bit of variety. I have to say, I have been here four or five times and everything I have had has been pretty good. Service could be a little more friendly - that would be my only criticism.

First of all, I think the food here is great. I love the boxes you can get customised to what you want. However, I've felt pretty sick after eating from there a few times. It's kind of annoying that the card machine hasn't worked when I've been in. I'll probably go again for a takeaway even though it makes me sick, because I'm a degenerate Chinese food eater.
