Ruby in Leicester

Dreadful! Never revieceved order and when rang to see where it was, they insisted that their driver had delivered it. There has been no delivery to my house. Checking ring doorbell footage shows noone has been. Still they insist it's been delivered even when I asked them what colour my door was and they gave the wrong colour. Apparently it's not their problem and they're not sending out food paid for as the driver says he delivered to the correct house. Bunch of liars! I wonder if they even cooked any food or it's just some scam they're running to pocket customers money... Got called a liar and son got told he didn't know his own address... Will never use again and will word of mouth advise people to avoid at all cost. ETA Shame on you! Yes eventually got refunded from just eats after multiple emails over a week after it happened. It's taken you nearly a month to respond to the review. Maybe if the person on the phone didn't accuse us of stealing the food and tried the fix the problem then I wouldn't have left a bad review or have to chase a refund through justeats. Your staff are rude and obnoxious and so are you.

Unsure of the bad reviews under this place as we had a great experience! I wanted soup as I was feeling under the weather and so we ordered on the website and collected roughly 15 minutes later! Food was hot and quite yummy, and we were even given free prawn crackers. My wonton soup was delicious! The staff were also lovely!

Ordered for takeaway. They said they delivered it but didn’t receive anything. People on the phone were rude and hung up on me.

Delivery never arrived and got called a liar because the driver said he'd delivered it. If it was sent out then the driver sent it to the wrong house but they absolutely deny that's happened. So no food but it's not their problem because they've got the money. Absolute joke! Incredibly rude and they don't give a damn. Amazingly on their website they boast to be the #1 in Leicester and satisfaction is guaranteed! Only thing guaranteed is I will not be ordering again.

Called to advise the restaurant that the food tasted of sugar not salt ! Was told no one else has said anything but they will inform the chef. Ok Great but no apology for my issue with my food I wasn’t expecting much or a refund but an acknowledgment may of been nice !

3 out of 4 dishes were great..exceptionally tasty. Just 1 dish was diabolical.. watery and soggy. On the whole, we would return for sure

Despite the order being 30 minutes late, the food was warm and of nice quality. Would give it another go to see if delivery time issue was a one off.

Ordered beef curry meat was of rang them all I got we cook you another 1 said no thanks didn't even get a sorry so spent £15 of my well earned money to ho bed hungry and feel sick for putting a piece of that meat in my mouth should be shut down

This restaurant, Ruby, is a new restaurant and I have to say that I am very impressed with both the food and the delivery. I will definitely be ordering food again. 😋 Well done.

When delivered one item was wrong they gave chicken fried rice instead of chicken ball i called to make aware. They went above and beyond by giving chicken ball and told me to keep rice too which was extremely kind of them. Im very grateful

Waited well over an hour for the delivery, and when it came crispy beef was not crispy at all ,duck chow mein had lumps of fat in it .Beef chow mein hardly had any beef and was overcooked .rice was OK. Used to be lovely food but not any more .

Food wasn't bad, but paying £7 for ribs we expected a decent amount of meat. It was 99% rib, 1% meat. Really disappointing.

Completely unhygienic, ordered their food came with loads of fruit flies.

Such a nice shop, staff were so polite. Ordered the thin noodle dish and spare ribs and loved them! Will ask for again when we visit Leicester. 🙂

Very nice food but my daughter was a little bit sick in the night at about 1 30 am or I’m probably wrong it might’ve been quarter past past 1 am in the morning at night early hours of Saturday morning and from what she ate on the Friday it was very nice for me and my partner and my son and plus can you please give me a menu if possible or if that’s possible wrather but just to be lucky I’ll still come here again maybe next week never using it again . I will never use this place again

No good place. I found a dead fly in my sweet and sour chicken ball...DISCUSTING....To make matters worse, their fillet steak was tough and expensive...MUCH BETTER CHINESE TAKEAWAYS ON WELFORD ROAD...BEWARE

Delivered very promptly and food hot, however too much liquid in dishes with sauce. Having ordered close to £40 plus a delivery charge of £2.50, they still added a 50p service charge and unbelievably 10p for a bag, how else were they going to deliver. First and last time for me with Ruby. Overall not that good......

Tasteless except for the cheap oil used. Food was bland. Egg fried rice was bizarre, brown, oily, cold and awful tasting.

Cold overcooked food, prawns still had all their guts, I'm guessing reheated food from days past rather than fresh. After a few bites it went in the bin and I had toast instead. Waste of £30

My family and I came to Ruby for the first time this evening. We ordered the udon off of their new menu (both the chicken and king prawn udon) with a side of fried rice. The quality really was excellent, not greasy in the slightest and packed with flavour. I wouldn't hesitate to grab a takeaway from here again!

Delivery a little bit slow really nice staff over the phone that I spoke to when food arrived really decent portion sizes very impressed food is very tasty very lovely Chinese food one of the best Chinese shops I’ve tried in this area and affordable will be ordering again in the future ❤️

I took a chance on Rubys Chinese on Thursday 24/06/21 did a collection, very polite on and good customer service, went. To pick up the place smelt amazing, got home and I was tucking into my house special curry my pops his shuczan special and mum. Chicken balls, the curry was so salty I could not enjoy it and had to leave it, the shuczan meal had an unusual taste I was told And the chicken balls was soaked through with oil still.... Tried. To phone to complain but I could not get through, will not be using this place again....

Having been a repeat customer for years I was gobsmacked by the outcome of my delivery. Now I'm an old fashioned regimented man, I'm at bed by 8pm and up at 5am ready for work. Today after a long day I felt exhausted and had a craving for something sweat and sour. Having ordered my meal I was told by the server over the phone my meal 'would be there within the hour'. Many minutes after that hour had passed I had given up and dialed up to cancel my order. I was greeted by the magic words 'number busy', so I waited a moment and dialed again... Same automated response. Funnily enough just then the driver arrived. I commented 'I've been waiting over an hour and was going to cancel mate-'. The delivery driver cut me off saying 'It was the traffic'. Fine, I sympathize with his plight. He proceeded to raise his voice 'I'm the owner, I agree I was late. Our food is hot look you touch' to this he rapidly tapped the bottom of the bag of food. Seeing this wasn't going anywhere I touched it and agreed that the barely luke warm bag was 'hot'. He got in my face and began shouting that 'I remember you, you said it was late before. Everytime you order again I'll personally deny you'. I've never had a late delivery from them before so I have no clue what he's talking about. He turned back and shouted 'It's up to you have it or not, this meal is still hot' I told him 'hey calm yourself down' at this point I just wanted him to leave before he upset a neighbour. Paid him and he repeatedly said 'Sorry, sorry' and sped off. Word to the wise, steer clear from this ticking timebomb. In my opinion Far East over the road is the best chinese takeaway for miles.

Terrible after being a family favourites for years we now use Far East across the road cheaper better food unfortunately don’t open on a Tuesday so thought we would give Ruby’s the go ahead again to be left with s*it food and a childs portion and then being rudely spoken to after questioning what has happened to a once respectful Chinese

Have been Vegetarian over 30 years, Ordered an meal to include Veg Chow mein. When i got home I found I had a beef one. Rang to complain, was told I defiantly ordered beef and it wouldn't kill me ! Took the whole meal back and after a heated conversation got my money back. Very Very Poor Service

Terrible service ordered £18.90 worth of food collection asked for prawn crackers and they tried to charge me as I didn’t order over the allotted £20 for free prawn crackers! Joke! Food was cold and very bland sweet and sour chicken was very poor with no flavour and huge chunks of onion no pineapple or pepper. Definitely won’t be going back.

Average chinese nothing special

OK. So this was our first ever order from Ruby’s. We have always bought our Chinese from New Golden Chef (NGC) but they closed recently. We tried to order similar dishes so we could compare them. 1. Hot and sour soup. Strong vinegar taste. 2. Spring rolls. Rather small and not cooked enough. Pastry was flabby and contents not hot enough. 3. Sesame prawn toast. Not cooked enough. 4. Jill Yuen prawns. Not cooked properly - coating was flabby and not crispy. Lacked taste. Lukewarm. 5. Special Fried Rice. Not very special. Rather bland and not much meat. Lukewarm. 6. Free prawn crackers were tasty. Better than NGC. We were rather disappointed and will have to continue our quest for a match for the New Golden Chef (RIP).

I tried chicken noodle soup and sweet and sour chicken. Soup was very average and the noodles were overcooked. Chicken was the worst i have ever had ...in short it's tasteless

I try so many new Chinese takeaways as I'm on the road alot with work. I usually just have a dry special fried rice.. It has to be the worst one I have had .. Two prawns two small pieces of chicken and small pork . It was tastless

For some reason the portions got smaller. Food was still below average. Only good thing was that you can kinda taste that classic charred wok.

Order arrived earlier than expected. Absolutely awesome food. Massive portions that stretched out to three meals. Proper good quality and value for money.

Food was better than average, relative to other Chinese takeaways that I have experienced. However nothing special. Did not receive napkins packed into the takeaway bag, or Chinese chopsticks (although not necessary, it is a nice touch). The best part about this place was the customer service and speed of service. Staff were happy to make alterations to their set meals. This was appreciated.

One of the best vhinese takeaways in leicester, discount for collection. Clearly they get busy with deliveries but never had issues with collection.

just ordered food and one item that we deffinately ordered didn't come. so I rang up the shop to explain that it didn't arrive and just been screamed at down the phone by someone that works there amd then laughed at. insisting we never ordered it. when I know we deffinately did. absolutely discusting customer service never again will we be ordering from there again.

Extremely poor poor service! Do not order from here! There are better and other Chinese takeaways! We ordered our food at 715pm - told the food would arrive at 805... got an email to say food will be delivered at 835... 850pm food still not arrived. Rang and spoke to the manger to be told ‘we are busy’, and ‘we will try and get food delivered in 20 mins’!!! Had a toddler to feed who was waiting to eat...!anager didn’t apologise for delay, showed no sympathy or understanding! Never ordering from here before, and we are regulars! If they had been honest about their delivery time from the offset then we would have cancelled and ordered for somewhere else! Why take orders you can’t fulfil!! Terrible service... avoid, avoid avoid!!!

I thought i'd try ruby as they were voted #1 in my area, which I assume is paid sponsorship as it's the worst experience I've had with a Chinese in my life. It took them 2 hours to deliver despite being told multiple times by their rude staff that 'it was on the way' and wouldn't be long. I did explain I was up at 5am, and would have simply cancelled if they had been honest about the delivery time. When the food finally arrived it was luke warm and below par. Soggy chips, tasteless rice and chicken that was rubbery and strange tasting. To top it off the delivery guy, who was obviously stressed out, became extremely aggressive and argumentative on my door step causing me to eventually slam the door in his face. Terrible food, terrible service, terrible staff. Avoid like the plague!

The chicken has a texture like soggy cork and about as much taste. Sweet and sour sauce that was potentially a bio-hazard, bright red, unbelievably sweet and gloopy which set solid when it went cold. Stodgy overcooked rice and flavour-free chow mein, which given the taste of the rest of my meal was probably not a bad thing. Avoid at all costs.

Favourite Chinese takeaway. Staff are always friendly and they have a great fish tank to watch whilst you wait. Food is also great!

The service here is fantastic, always courteous and will even advise you on how to save money on your next visit!

Terrible experience, cancelled my order without telling me, had to wait 2 hours, shouted at by staff, rude and unnecessary! And the food was cold! Not happy at all!

Me and my partner have ordered from Ruby's on many occasions. However we would repeat our order and order the same thing all the time, which was lamb curry and sweet and sour chicken, never had any problems. So we decided to venture out and be adventurous with the menu. We ordered a few starters all taste like a mouthful of oil. Special rice dish taste like salty snot. Next day had belly ache, not ordered since.

Garlic lamb was ok. Set dinner was so so, forgettable. Go only if near and crave chinese. V average.

I was craving Chinese so I went in for takeout. I got their chicken wings for an appetizer (the quality of chicken was good, even though they were small). No complaints there. For a main I had the Hong Kong chicken. It tasted alright. But it was somewhat chewy and I'm still not sure how or why. Overall, it's not terrible, but given the surrounding area with Leicester's massive selection of food, I imagine there are better options.

Always a beautiful meal whenever we order from here.

Ordered a delivery online via Just Eat. Took an hour to arrive and they got one dish wrong. Having said that, the portions were generous and the food good, especially the ribs. Will definitely use them again.
