Spicy Wok in Leicester

Ordered Chopsuey but came without the noodles. I was told I would be provided a full refund. Took cash payment only so it would have to be refunded the next time I order. Tried ordering today and was told that I would be provided a £1 refund for the noodles. I told them how can a person eat a meal if part of it is missing. He said you can make your own rice ! I don't usually leave reviews but this has incensed me ! Ruined my dinner last week and then made me look stupid asking for a refund today !! Just don't offer a refund next time.

Tried the dum biryani for takeout at £6, and it was awesome! However, when dining in with friends the next day, it was £7.50 each, and they only provided onions, no lemon. They should match dine-in and takeout prices.

We were constantly ordering from spicy wok for two years but now quality isn't same and it was smelling when we ordered last time . I tried to contact them but couldnt get the response .

Very disappointed with the whole experience! 1. I was told to dine in there's an extra cost even when the restaurant is empty. Not seen this before in Leicester. 2. I requested for the chowmein noodles with prawns. I opted for this because the staff member said there's vegetables in (healthy option) and when I got it there was hardly any vegetables and not to mention that there was very few prawn pieces for a large sized box! I called back, staff said 'this is how we do it' and actually went to check with the chef and came back to say they put 8 pieces!! What a joke!! Felt I was ripped off and like I was just having noodles on its own!! I think the place has potential, but certain things need to be improved! Please do your competitors research and match or better yet elevate your standards above theirs!

I ordered triple schezwan rice it was worst experience, everything was so sweet and noodles were overcooked i wont recommend triple schezwan it was mixed flavor and noodles were overcooked rice was sweet too much sugar in it.

Amazing Indo-Chinese Experience 10/10 Food Dining in experience could be improved with better tables and chairs and a bit more space. However will come again as food and service was brilliant.

Hands down the best indo-chinese I've had in the UK. We eat from here very frequently, and have never been disappointed. Must add really honest and friendly guy who runs the place.

Tried the famous spicy wok and it was absolutely delicious. Was recommended by a family member and have to say this is now my favourite Friday night treat! Me and my husband tried the chicken 65, the biryani, the noodles, and the paneer. It definitely went down a treat. Staff were friendly and jolly. They delivered exceptional service and delicious food. Highly recommend and will be definitely going again

Unfortunately food was disappointing and my chicken box was tasteless, having walked past and it smelling great I was pleasantly surprised with the food having no flavour.

Simple place to eat but the food is amazing. The fried chicken lollipop are my fave and my place to go for Munchow soup.

I always dine at least once whenever i go to Leicester, because it is the only place where you get one of the best Indo-chinese fusion food ,same as we get taste in india. Indians will understand what i am talking about .you will get the proper road side " indo-chinese " lariwala flavours trust me . whenever in Leicester,please try it . Specially their ( chicken lollipop, chicken Manchurian, chicken 65, manchao soup, schezwan fried rice) etc.👌👍

I think the owner and staff needs to learn what is customer service, both of them were very rude. Not recommended to anyone.

Went here yesterday Wednesday 27th October with my wife and sister, bro in law and nephew and was really pleased with the exceptional customer service and helpful staff. On top of that the food was excellent and very tasty and will definitely recommend and will be going back. We came from Birmingham.

Been ordering food from wok for a while now and have noticed the quality has descended over the period. Portion is good size, but they need to improve the quality.

Update May 2023: This company is keep sending emails every 2 week about 15% discount on collection, when you ring them, they will say offer expired 2 week a go. If offer expired why do I still get email every two week. Also email says t&c apply, I went and checked their website, I could not find their t&c relate to any discount code. Instead you will find 2-3 company names… The food is getting worse now. Previous food review: I’ve visited this place for the first time and I had wok special chips from spicy wok. Chips weren’t bad I think it needed more ingredients added to match it equivalent with the chips quantity. With the price I paid the chips were generous enough. Spring onion onion on top would have done the job. I will try them next time for some another item.

I urge you not to buy the lamb dish. It stinks. I threw straight in the bin. Would not even feed it to my dog if I had one. Stupid owner sort your taste your food first before selling it you idiot. I have a goos mind to smear all over your shop window because I know that you will not refund my money so better to leave this review to teach you a lesson.

My children enjoy this type if food. I don't. But I trued it & it's was soooooooo delicious, beautifully presented, filling & flavours was outstanding. End my Eid Mubarak well. Just called to thank them but no answer.

Good Hyderabad taste biryani Best place for tasty 🤤 food in leicester city center . Very spacious to dine inn . services are good and friendly atmosphere. Original Hyderabadi flavours Chicken tikka briyani and lamb briyani are so excellent.

Yummy food perfect Chinese food..

Well my normal go to place for sat was closed so on the way back from my mates I decided to stop somewhere new… Always bit risky but who wants a boring life right 😅 Not a fan of very spicy food as I find too much spice just kills the favour and you can’t taste much but fire. I’ve been to places were this is the case. Also please note I can handle it very hot just don’t enjoy it. This place was called spicy wok so knew I’d get a bit of a kick. It was manageable, chicken was nice and fresh and you can tell all the other ingredients were fresh as well. Portion size was big. So very impressed. If it had a tad bit less spice and a bit more crispy then it would of been perfect. (ordered crispy chicken) Now I didn’t ask for it less spicy and as it’s mentioned in the name I knew it would be fiery. I don’t like to alter dishes and take them how they are made Keep up the good work guys

We can not deny that food smells fantastic, and the portion (large size box for £8 to £9) is perfect and good. But unfortunately, taste is not great. Food is so salty. Either they have added extra MSG with the salt or salted twice. It is horrible, can not eat littereally felt it to thrown away. Killed all the good flavours. Chicken 65, tasted flour or corn flour flavour, so thick more than the meat, taste starchy. Spicy could be more balanced. Fried rice is hard and not boiled properly to the texture. Price is good and well balanced for the portion, but not for the taste, unfortunately. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, disappointed, that they could bring the flavour by simple means, but should not overdid it.

There not a lot of soup in the container. Standard are dropping as the business is growing

The first time my husband and I ate at Spicy Wok was absolutely amazing. We decided to go ahead and drive from Loughborough to eat at Spicy Wok for the second time. We ordered ahead as we remembered the wait time to get our food was quite long the last time. When we arrived I asked if we could sit and eat in their shop. There was plenty of seating… we got told we couldn’t eat there. We didn’t mind at this point, we were hungry and was looking forward to digging into the food! We drove back home (this took us 30 minutes? and got stuck in. I’m going to just jump straight into it… the crispy honey beef was covered in onion juice! The salt and pepper was also drenched in onions and peppers. We lost our appetite. This is my first ever review on a food place and I’m sorry it had to be negative. We are just really disappointed. Please fix up. Thanks.

Had food delivered. Both noodle and hot and sour were outstanding. Also ordered a chicken 65 and manchurian with fried rice and noodles which were very good. Only thing I would say is that both the gravies and the rice and noodles were in 1 box.

Me and my family really really enjoyed the Chinese take away we ordered from spicy wok, it came hot and nicely packed on time, We ordered the shezwan fried rice, which was so good, the hot and sour soup was delicious and nice and hot, the noodles and Manchurian chicken was really good too, definitely recommend for Chinese food 👌🏽

Wrong item was delivered and I was promised to get full refund but more than three weeks and still no refund yet. I did call twice but no satisfactory answer.

Best indo chinese in the town. The same smoky flavour and spice levels you get in the streets of Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta. In fact the food has been so good every single time that we havent been able to order anything else other than our set menu of Schezwan rice, Chilli chicken and Manchurians. And always go large!!

I get food from here regularly and have posted 5 star reviews in the past. However, the quality of the indo Chinese has gone down. I got some food yesterday ( always get the same menu) and the food tasted completely different. Don’t know if they have got a new cook. I hope this was a one off!

The owner is very rude. He seems very big headed and the food is not worth the price. When ordering through Uber eats, I didn’t have the option of adding extra notes for allergy purposes. So I gave them a call to inform them of the allergy and the owner came across as very aggressive, arguing that there are notes and it’s my mistake. This is what I do not expect for customer service. I wanted a respectful and understanding response but it seemed as if they don’t care about their customers. Very poor service!!!

I takeaway/order from here regularly. Everything I tried till now have been absolutely great. I would especially recommend their Chinese Chicken Choupsey, Chick Fried Rice with Chicken Kung Pao. Great combo. Their spice levels are something I crave for. I just hope they have dine in. It was closed last 2 times I tried.

Noodles were very nice and the flavour of the biryani was lovely. Kebabs were also tasty. Lost a star as the chicken pieces in the rice were massive. I would recommend and would eat from here again.

False delivery status statment by staff it took more than 50 min to get deliver. They said I'll get it in 10min it took 50min to get delivery, every time we call to check status of delivery they have new statement. Never suggest for home delivery.

I feel as if the price is a bit too high for many of the items on the menu. Been here with friends and they all said they don't want to pay this much again. The food tastes decent though. 3/4 star due to price

Went here late at night, wanting something to eat. Ordered chicken lollipop, schezwan, hakka and chowmein noodles. Price was reasonable compared to good portion sizes. Everything was well made and fresh, with everything been seasoned well and taste on top. Service was very good and staff were quick to bring food in terms of waiting times and they were kind. Make sure you order the king pao chicken!

Absolutely authentic Indo-chinese. We ordered lots of dishes to try a bit of everything; noodles, rice, chicken, fish and lamb, each were delish! Some had a kick to them others were just right. We don't do much spice so it's probably ok for others, but it just depends what you get. The good hit the spot in terms of being Indo-Chinese. Not many good ones around, this is now our new fav! The owner is really friendly, we are ordering for a party of 30 ppl soon and cannot wait to have the food again. We live 5 miles away and it's worth the drive!

Went in with the family, was welcomed by a very nice member of staff. We ordered 3 different soups for starter, ginger chicken and pepper garlic prawns along with veg rice and veg noodles for mains. All 3 soups tasted lovely and one of them came with dry noodles on side which was really good. Both the mains were bursting with flavours. Vegetable used was very fresh and crunchy and chicken was also very fresh. Probably the best indo-Chinese food we’ve had in the UK. They also offer Pakistani/Indian dishes on the menu which we would love to try the next time. Will be going back soon. Great Job Guys!!!
