New Golden Dragon in Leicester

We had ordered twice, we thought it was the food we ate at lunch but again we had ordered today, me and my partner both feel very sick after eating the fried dishes. We think it’s maybe due to their oil not being changed and cleaned because previously we ordered before an ordered the same food, but we gave it try again thinking it was just our lunch unfortunately it’s not. Also, the crispy food is awful hard and it’s cut soo tiny like baby bites. You can see in the photos, with us half eaten the portions but it’s just for references for those who are looking to order form here. The crispy won tons are a joke honestly it’s literally fried pancake there’s no stuffing, it’s sooo tiny it’s just wrapped in layers of the won ton wrap. The staff are nice but they really need to re-work on their food especially how ridiculous small the pieces are cut. Not only they really need to get the oil cleaned up because we’ve ordered from other Chinese before around Leicester and had no problems before but they honestly really need to have a food and safety hygiene checked.

Well below average food-the crispy fried beef was dry and seemed to have been made in a batch with the very watery sauce ladled on afterwards. Had some sort of beancurd thing with veg which wasn't that great-watery sauce again, and had some rice. Just overall poor.

Food was disgusting cowemain was dry and had no flavour whatsoever and opened the prawn crackers to find this makes me feel ill NEVER ORDERING EVER AGAIN

Takeaway that has been here a long time. Efficient quick service. Lots of deals and set meal offers. There's something for everyone. Highly recommend the salt and chilli chicken wings, the Singapore noodles and the tofu in black bean sauce, if you order lots you often get free prawn crackers and sometimes chicken wings or spring rolls. They're on just eat but you can also phone or walk in. The chicken and duck are halal.

Don't believe order time and rude staff and cold food

Honestly the best Chinese food in Leicester! It’s authentic and flavourful and very affordable. The portions are large enough to have leftovers for the day after! The lady at the front desk is always so sweet :) 10/10 my favourite treat

I’m not too sure what the overly negative reviews are about, we ordered duck with pancakes, chicken balls, spring rolls along with salt and pepper chips all of which were absolutely delicious, apart from the chips which tasted a little cinnamon-ish. The delivery time was less than 20 minutes and the selection on the menu was insane. A great halal find in Leicester.

A good quality Chinese takeaway and probably the best I've tried in Leicester as of writing. They offer a 10% discount on collection orders although it is cash only. The food can be ordered online though though delivery apps. I had the set meal for 2 which was definitely worth the price for the taste and portion size. Only flaw would be the plastic packaging for some people but I found it useful as I had no containers for university. Service was polite and quick, the waiting area could use a tidy up but there is no eating area so it isn't a real concern for people collecting. Overall I would highly recommend New Golden Dragon if you fancy some good Chinese food.

Ordered food from here for the food to be 2 hours late, Spoke to the woman on the phone who just laughed at the fact it was late. She was extremely rude on the phone. Used to use these quite often but after today, Never again. Seems like others have had issues with these.

Have used this take away for a long time now and they have always been good. We have waited for over 2 hours for food to be delivered and told chef is cooking it " we are doing our best" when asked why someone local had ordered food after us and yet had theirs delivered i had the phone hung up on me. Very Rude

I have used this takeaway for 20+ years , however not any more. The food standard has dropped in the last year or so and the service is abysmal. There has often been a strange taste to the food and I’ve found the meat unpalatable. I ordered food tonight and it took 1.5 hours to arrive, it was cold on arrival and I was fobbed off each time I called with the line “ driver is on his way” or “I’ll ring the driver”. This isn’t the first time this has happened and I hoped that they were simply having an off patch. Am very disappointed as it used to be a great place to buy a weekend treat, but I’ll have to find somewhere else now .

Placed an order online at 8.37pm food didn't arrive until 10pm

Food was ordered at 5.21pm but by 6.40 it still hadn’t arrived so I rang and they said it was on the way, no apologies for Tahoe long it was taking, food finally arrived at 6.55pm. Food was certainly not worth the wait.

The food arrived very late, and when it got here it was undercooked and smelling like rot. I threw everything in the bin, I am not looking to die from a 3 or 4 weeks old prawn. But the tupperwares where the food came where nice. So that is a plus.

The only reason I'm giving this more than one star is that the food was at least cooked, but this was quite literally the worst takeaway I've eaten. It was our first time ordering here and it's a shame because we won't be rushing back. Whoever's cooking just doesn't care.

Chicken choinmain and butterfly king prawns is amazing. Once I try in Saffron lane Chinese food, but that was waste time and money. I always prefer choose Golden dragon.

This has been my go to chinese for yearsnow. Occasionally a meal isn't great but most of time it is. Just had a chinese for the first time in two/three months and; It just tasted like soap. Like a really strong chemical taste. And it wasn't just me, everyones food tasted horrifically bad. Don't know if they changed who's running it or something went wrong but that was vile.

Had take out today. Biggest regret the food was awful no flavour in the food the curry sauce was watered down. Have already given them second chance no more. When you ring to complain they don’t want to help.

We ordered Roast Duck with ginger and SPRING ONIONS. But the one we had delivered was with general white onion (long and thick) We call them to complain, they asked us if we have eaton any of it ? and can we send it back as it is ? They offered us £2 off on next order which we denied. We had another one delivered which was exactly the same. We called them again and we were told that's spring onion. Not happy with the customer service, the lady on phone would not listen what you have to say. Ruined our meal and wasn't apologetic at all instead she sounded frustrated and angry on the phone.

I ordered Thai Green beef curry. It arrived very very watery and thin, packed with mostly veg and lack of beef. The BBQ ribs in BBQ sauce was also watery and thin. The best part of my order was the rice and chips. The prawn crackers where stale tasting. Unfortunately not to my standard. I will not be ordering from there again.

Great service and food quality was excellent. Will be back! I have the House Special Chow Mein at least once a week! Try their special box meals too... Really good value.

Some of the worst examples of “Thai” food I’ve eaten at a price similar to a superb place in London I regularly order excellent food from: watery curries, deep fried wonton which was just deep fried pastry, a satay sauce curry that was inedibly spicy and without a trace of the peanutty flavour of satay. I appreciate this isn’t a Thai restaurant but don’t advertise Thai food if you haven’t the faintest ability to provide it

Very good simple chinese food. Delivery does take a while but they do give you some free extras and it's worth the wait for the food. The dishes are well portioned and will fill you up. If you want something more tradition then this is not your place as there is a lack of dumpling/ only have crispy wontons, sushi, duck roll ect, just your easy dishes hence the 4 and not the 5 star price is a bit much for some dishes but they make up for with the portions.

The food was oily and the chicken was very dry. The chow mein was so salty that we had to give up on eating it which was a shame.

Food was hnmmmmm only negative point in delivery driver refused to deliver to my door as I live on first floor but also a disabled house bound customer which I found very bizzare and somewhat distressing good job my friend was with me who wwnt down to collect meal otherwise it wouldve been sent back through no fault of mines or takeaway but solely by delivery drivers Would be nice if just eat drivers and others take this into consideration not everyone is able bodied

Food was delivered hot as usual but way too early. I called them and they resent fried food at correct time.

The food arrived early and was very hot. The butterfly king prawns weren’t very flavoursome, though are great value for the price. I found the the egg fried rice was average, if not slightly salty to my tastes. The crispy shredded chicken was very nice, though a tad hard to chew. I expected it to be lighter. Despite my comments, it’s probably the best Chinese take away I’ve tried so far in Leicester.

Food was great, enjoyed by all. The mushroom foo yung was however missing and a lemon chicken was there instead - weird mix up but luckily the lemon chicken was enjoyed anyway. Would definitely order it again!

I am so shocked! Usually I order food from here and never have an issue. I order the “chicken curry” which tasted nothing like chicken at all and the whole curry in general was drenched in garlic and ginger. I don’t know what meat was used or whether it was a cheap chicken but I do not recommend the chicken curry. I had no problems with the beef chow mien & egg fried rice that I did order.

Quickly delivered still steaming hot food. Great flavours across all dishes especially the Singapore types. The actual chillies are super hot so be careful but are needed.

Great quality authentic Chinese food. I've been eating food from this takeaway for over 30yrs and must say I have never had any problems whatsoever. They are very friendly and make tasty dishes every time. Chilli's are super hot so be careful and recommend the Singapore chow mein.

Food was fine,However if you say you on menu you dont have a certain drink then say you dont have a certain drink I know you can cross out a line though a certain food product if out of stock!!it was Saturday night and you should stock up on diet coke I dont like full fat coke Never again..poor service..yes it's just a drink...so get it right next time!!!!

Best Chinese I’ve had in Leicester over the last 4 years!! Great veggie/vegan options and the food was actually piping hot on arrival and so so tasty! Two of us ate for £13 including delivery and service fee which is great and the driver was very nice and arrived early, in the requested location. Will only order here from now on!

Took about 3/5 working days for delivery but was a decent munch

My partner and I decided to take a risk and order from a new Chinese takeout tonight, and we are so glad we did! The food was really delicious, arrived within half an hour of ordering and everything was super hot. Plenty of options for veggies and vegans, including tofu AND mock meats! We paid £13 for food for 2, that was including delivery and Just Eat service charge so that was great too. Even the fortune cookies were nice and the driver was lovely (the only driver to actually find my house correctly too.) I’d highly recommend this place and will order solely from here in the future.

Food arrived an hour late. Don’t even think it had been sent until I rang to find out where it was after already being half hour late. Nice food however I found the chips to be a little bit dry tasting this time. Always order from this restaurant, usually no problems. Just unfortunate today we had one

Really great quality Chinese! Chicken was actual chicken (not some questionable meat) and it tasted fresh and was cooked beautifully. Sauces full of flavour and delicious! Will definitely be using this in future

I recieved a message telling me my order was with the delivery driver and my order would be with me within 10 minutes. 40 minutes later my order hadn't received. I messaged the restaurant to inquire where my order was, they replied saying the restaurant was really busy and my order would be a further15 minutes which didn't make sense because of the previous message informing me my order was on it's way. When the food did arrive it had clearly been microwaved, the food was so hot I had to leave it to cool down a few minutes. The noodles where all stuck together like mush, the rids were so dry and the chilli chips are awful! Needless to say the foxes ate well.

Food arrived late, when called up restaurant i was told the driver is on the way and the staff hung up... the driver was late and refused to bring it downstairs to my door. He made me come downstairs to collect it even though i have left a note where my flat is located... i was told he is not allowed to go upstairs in an extremly rude way. Veg rolls in starter undercooked, still doughy and not edible. Pork balls were also undercooked as quite doughy. Take care when cooking.

Not happy in the slightest, requested in the notes that I would like the dish mild with no onions and extra sauce as I had ordered chips and rice. Food arrived, luke warm.. absolutely zero sauce on the main dish. Rang the restaurant to be told that I had to pay for sauce if I wanted it, then asked why nobody contacted me to say this? They then said they tried.. no contact was made. Very rude woman, gave up trying to explain that my food was drier than the Sahara! Absolute joke, really disappointed. Won’t be ordering again!
