Yum Sa in Wandsworth

We turned up to find the place boarded up. They seem to have gone out of business. Bizarre because their booking system was sending reminders and we’ve just been asked for feedback

I will change stars when they pick up the phone. I have made a reservation via their website and want to check all is ok and I have been calling for 3 days and no answer. I have never called a restaurant and not had anyone answer the phone.

Loved most of our dishes! The pad Thai was a miss for us. However, the food took nearly an hour to come and no communication from the wait staff - not ideal!

Asked for a Thai iced milk tea and the waiters seemed confused. Had to repeat, Thai iced milk tea please. To my shock, they said they don't do that. But they have "Masala Chai" instead? What does "Masala Chai" have to do with a Thai iced milk tea? And how on earth does a Thai restaurant not have the most basic drink you can drink at any Thai restaurant?

Excellent bottomless brunch at Yum Sa! The food was absolutely incredible and of a very high quality. The wine that came with the bottomless option was also really good quality. The service was very professional and we never had to wait for our glasses to be topped off. We will definitely be back!

Amazing food! Amazing service!! I would recommend this restaurant/bar ! The atmosphere is amazingly special during the Halloween period, the decorations are amazing and a bit scary but that's what we want during Halloween ! And I especially want to thank the staff who served us!

Delicious food and excellent hospitality, would highly recommend! The staff were knowledgeable and passionate. I also liked that you could see the chefs working live as you walked in. The inside restaurant has a great ambience with beautiful décor. You also have the option of sitting outside under the terrace. I had the soft shell crab dish, it had a sophisticated layering of flavour, which I highly enjoyed. See you soon Yum Sa!

The service was awesome, all the staff were very friendly. We ordered the crispy aromatic duck, the scallop ceviche, kimchi edamame and the scallops and king prawns tom yum. The duck was amazing, top tier duck but also it came with some (we think it was plum) on the side that added so much to the flavour! Never had duck with actual fruit pieces, so that was really good. The usual duck, pancakes, sauce, onions and cucumbers were also served and were very good. The scallop ceviche was very good! The tom yum was great, spicy but not crazy spicy so that was definitely a plus as it was edible while still being spicy! The vegetables and the seafood in the soup were great! The edamame was great and the portion was massive! We expected a small side dish bowl of edamame but got a massive soup bowl size. Not complaining, I was very happy about that! Restaurant vibe was great, seating outside looked very nice (we sat inside as it was cold), the bathrooms are clean and the staff overall were amazing. Great experience, already planning on going back when the family is back in London!

Had the best time for a group booking. Over 40 of us and service was impeccable. Food was the best Thai I have had in a while and drinks were also good! Worth every penny. Soroosh and other servers worked well under pressure! Already looking forward to my next visit

Decided to get a meal and drink by myself and was pleasantly surprised. The dish was very nice and had a great Thai flavor. The drinks were also presented beautifully and tasted incredible.

Amazing food and cocktails, great atmosphere and the severs are fantastic too. We have visited a few times now, with and without my children - I intend to try the entire menu, not been disappointed once. Really is top notch

We book a table for 8 Pm, we leave the restaurant at 9.50 pm after eating just the starters. The tap water was served at 8.45pm after waving for attention. Nobody was coming to us explaining the why the service is slow. The worst costumer service ever.

I recently dined at Yum Sa restaurant, and I must say it was a disappointing and frustrating experience. The problems started right from the beginning. We waited a whopping 20 minutes just to place our order, and it only got worse from there. After finally managing to get our orders in, we waited another 20 minutes just to receive tap water, which should be a basic and immediate service in any restaurant. This slow service was a major inconvenience, as we were eager to enjoy our meal and spend quality time with our friends. Things didn't improve when it came to our starters either. We waited an additional 10 minutes for our starters to arrive, which was longer than expected, considering it was just the beginning of our meal. The real breaking point came after a whole hour of waiting when we decided to inquire about our main courses. To our astonishment, the waiter informed us that some of the kitchen staff had left the restaurant without notice, leaving the kitchen understaffed and causing severe delays. This kind of behavior from the kitchen staff is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. What made matters worse was the apparent lack of concern from the restaurant management. The owner was nowhere to be found, and there was no effort made to rectify the situation or offer any compensation for the excessive wait time and inconvenience. The rudeness of the waiter and the complete absence of the owner were the final nails in the coffin of what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. It's safe to say that we left Yum Sa feeling incredibly frustrated and disappointed. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against visiting Yum Sa restaurant if you are looking to have a pleasant and enjoyable meal with friends or family. The incredibly long wait times, unprofessional behavior of the staff, and lack of accountability from the owner made it a truly horrible experience that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Save yourself the trouble and find another dining option that values your time and patronage.

Terrible service. The starters took over an hour to come, the food was cold. The area by the kichen is so smokey we couldn’t breathe, and the back area is not popular with the waiters! So awful it was funny. Never again!

Very nice space, well located. The food was well presented, but on seasoning, I felt was adapted to a foreign taste, could be Spicer and seasoning like in Asian food. Overall you could taste the quality of the food. The service was good, was a pity they forgot the second beer I ordered. It was a pleasant evening thank you and I hope my review somehow, helps to polish the little need to thrive.

Excellent food every time, stylish interior, a broad menu which delivers on flavour, portion size and value for money. Yum sa is an absolute treat

Ambience and service were great. Decor is great and location is too. To start, we got the har gau dumplings, okra tempura and fried squid- the okra tempura was definitely the highlight but all the starters were great. For mains we got the softshell crab which was fantastic and full of flavour. We also got the beef rendang which lacked flavour and we found a hair in the food, not great. We got the Thai zerotini mocktail which tasted like a vegetable smoothie, not great. We had a discount and our bill was around £50-60 which was well worth it.

Was a lovely dinner. Service was kind and quick even because wasn't so busy so we had the right attention from the waitresses. Food was good, not the best I mean but tastes and how they looked were very nice. For the ambient I think they must improve the air circulation because after we left the restaurant our clothes smell of fried. Prize is high but we are in London... Anyway I will be back. Excellent seafood and very attentive waiting staff made this a wonderful catch up with friends! Bushbank especially looked after us very well by giving us the happy hour deal without us knowing. Longish gap between starters and mains but that was great catch up time.

We chose to sit outside, but it was a different experience as there was construction. I asked if the food was spicy, and they said it was slightly spicy, but it was so bitter that I had to eat it with a headache. They served sweet potato fries as a gift, but it didn't change my opinion. Even with The Fork discount, we believe that we overpaid.

Amazing Thai restaurant. One of the best in London without a doubt. Responsive staff, great food and atmosphere. We hosted a post wedding party here and the team were so helpful and flexible, from planning to the actual day. Highly recommended

Amazing atmosphere, great service but the food is disappointing!

Nothing yum about this place. The prawn Tom yum soup felt like a bowl of water seasoned with a packet of instant spices. Inside 1 frozen scallop cut in 3 and 4 small shrimps, covered with some chili oil. No galangal, no lime leaves, no lemongrass, no tomato, no mushroom and no coconut milk. The rest of the order was also very disappointing in taste and quantity. Not worth it in my opinion.

Yuk off rather than yum sa would be more appropriate, there is nothing yum about this place. Having lived in sw London for 20 years I think the food, service and general cleanliness and atmosphere is the worst restaurant in the area. It is overpriced, not genuine Thai food. Terrible quality food. They don’t clear plates and glasses from the table. Have a lack of understanding of the menu. And cannot make basic drinks properly, vodka and tonic with no vodka in a short tumbler. Kids plain chicken and rice, came as spicy as a vindaloo for a 4 year old. Inedible. Duck and pancakes, came with not enough pancakes or cucumber. We asked for more and we’re charged quite a lot extra for it. Definitely worst restaurant in Putney

Quite possibly the best Thai food I've had to date. The red curry was so unbelievably creamy and delicious. The ambience was wonderful and I loved how you could see everything going on in the kitchen from where we were sat. The menu was also great. At first the options didn't seem familiar but they were just worded a certain way. It's rare when a restaurant offers rice WITH the dish of your choosing so the menu prices made more sense.

I never enjoyed soft shell crab like how we did at Yum Sa. Every item we ordered tasted great and nothing disappointed. The best items we had were the satay chicken, grilled prawns, and the soft shell crab. Massaman curry was good too. Jungle curry was alright. The cocktails were also good with their unique twist on the traditional cocktails. Do note the pictures of the food are outdated as it looks like they may have changed their menu. For instance we wanted to try their pad Thai wrapped in omelette but didn't see that particular dish in the menu. There is a pad Thai but there was no mention of omelette in it. So we didn't order it. Also we went in assuming the portion size are also small based on the images but when the food looked much bigger when we saw the food in front of our eyes. So order accordingly.

Helpful and charming staff with great flavours in the food

You really should not speak about your patrons within earshot. That was the experience of many of my party. If a group of patrons refuse to pay the service charge that is their choice. I think the issue was the party was sat on 5 tables and each table was charged despite the fact it was one party. I know service to a large party can be tiresome however your tone with patrons should not reflect this. If some chose to return, good stuff, I on the other hand will not be.

The restaurant is literally opposite East Putney Station. We believe the restaurant is opened by Thai Malaysian. Their dishes can be quite spicy. Loving the crispy aromatic duck for starter. Good place to chill and great food.

Firstly, I'd like to say that my original review was going to be 5 stars as the food, cocktails and service were all excellent! HOWEVER, we did get a bit of a shock when the bill arrived. They have a board outside saying '£7 cocktails all day every day', but it turns out this is only if cocktails are ordered from the bar. On review, it does say '@ the bar' on the board, but I still think this is misleading as why are the cocktails £7 only if ordered from the bar? But full price when you are trying to support them further by making a booking, ordering food as well and when the cocktails are made in the exact same bar as the £7 ones?!! It was one of the main reasons we booked a table here was the allure of £7 cocktails as one wouldn't think there would be a difference in price on where in the restaurant you ordered your drinks from! Anyways, future visitors, BEWARE of this! A sour end to an otherwise enjoyable evening.

I am always blown away by the staff and food at Yumsa! The brisket! Oh my word! And the pad thai! And of course the dumplings! The staff are so welcoming and accommodating and the music is always so amazing!!!! I can not recommend you guys highly enough!!!!!!! We always bring our friends visiting from out of town there and every time they mention you as one of the highlights of their trips to london!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!

Great food, atmosphere, and staff

I've been here a couple of times now and there is one consistent problem: The food is so excellent that you spend half the dinner conversation saying "Mmmmm" or "Oh my god that is so amazing" or "No, you can't try some" Truly, the food is an excellent fusion of Thai and other cultures. It is always different. The salads are explosively refreshing with lively tones. The various starters are well portioned; some with delicate flavours like the salmon ceviche I had or powerful, sexy vibrancy like the chicken and beef satay. Or the Balanese crispy duck, which was unreal. My wife loved it and she doesn't like duck! I have been for a couple of events such as the Halloween and the Valentines day events. The menus are bespoke, the entertainment is, well, entertaining. Attention to detail is spot on. The location is brilliant being across from East Putney tube station. The ambiance is wonderful. The restaurant is quite large but laid out in such a way that there are several small intimate areas so that you never feel that you're in a massive place. Highly Recommend

A quiet restaurant ticked away but across the from East Putney tube station. The service was OK but the food was excellent. My edamame with Kimchi was tasty and there was a lot of it. My main was a vegetarian tofu dish which I te with relish. Every morsel was super delicious and the evening didn't break the bank. I would definitely return.

Lovely décor and a clean, modern looking restaurant. However, I find this place to be very overpriced for what it is. I found there to be too much fusion in the dishes (the menu itself is not really Thai and rather a mixture of inspirations from various S.E. Asian countries) and some of the key dishes lacked an authentic taste. I did appreciate that they added creativity and twist in some of their dishes, so if fusion and fancy cocktails are your thing then this is a great place for a social meal

In terms of surface access, Yum Sa is located directly in front of East Putney Station (20 yards away) and three minutes to PureGym. This establishment prioritises customer satisfaction. For our first impression, we went in as soon as it opened at 4:00 p.m. and spent three to four hours chilling out and enjoying the music. I would assert that there is something for everyone. There are vegetarian options and alcohol-free beverages, such as mocktails. We ordered the passionfruit fizz. Then, we ordered two Yum Signatures for £18 each. The food was served in a sufficient quantity, making the price for fine dining reasonable. The cuisine was delectable. I cannot recall the names, but one dish contained shrimp and rice noodles, while the other contained rice and tamarind duck. We had Thai-flavored ice cream for dessert. We chose blueberry lavender! For us, this was an intriguing dessert. Lastly, the service; We were served by a charming manager named Kostas. The only chef whose name I know is Dani, who is from Sri Lanka and speaks both Tamil and Sinhala. They are extremely sociable. We will undoubtedly visit whenever we are in the area, and we will also bring along some accomplices.

Absolutely delicious. Ordered a beef rengdang which was served with a generous amount of meat that could be cut with a spoon. Pad thai was impressive with nice peanuty oil and fresh vibrant flavours. Overall beautiful presentation and good portion sizes.

Just had a 30th birthday party for my wife. The food was outstanding. Everyone loved their meals. The cocktails included 'the best margaritas they've ever had'. The staff were so friendly too, made us all feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. The easiest 5 star review I've ever given. We will 100% be returning. What an exceptional dinning experience!!!

Could do better Thai restaurant. As highlighted by another reviewer, the flavours don't truly match those of their home country, however these could have been muted to cater for a more cosmopolitan clientele. Service too, was a bit hit and miss. 11/09/22 update for clarity: I appreciate the "modern twist" as you might have noted from my other restaurant reviews. We visited the restaurant on 20/07/22, and this was the menu that was presented to us. The occasion was our first meeting with the parents of our daughter-in-law to be, who had flown in from the US for the marriage of their daughter to our son, two days thereafter. For this reason, I made a point of seeking out the manager before they arrived (specifically to ensure that we paid for the meal) and asked the manager to ensure that the final bill was presented to me, and not our guests from the US. Given that we are of Asian descent, and our guests are of Caucasian descent, your front of house staff got this simple request horribly wrong, and presented the bill to our guests, who attempted to pay, thereby causing great embarrassment for both families. Hence the reason for the 3 star review.

We visited this restaurant based on its excellent reviews and we were bitterly disappointed. Poor food, the worst was they served us a raw chunk of lamb which we inedible- it was sent back - all the food was just very average - attitude of staff was awful and we would not go back.

Celebrated my birthday here with 10 people. We were given a great table, the service was fantastic and the food spectacular. The whole place was very clean and had a lovely atmosphere.

One of, if not the best restaurants/bars in Putney. Each and every time I visit Yum Sa I am welcomed by all the staff. It feels like being welcomed home and that really is no exaggeration. All patrons are treated as family and this means that every visit feels special. The aesthetics are immaculate and the vibes are on another level. A big deal breaker for me in restaurants is the music. Too loud, too quiet, not right for the setting.......not YumSa. I was there at the weekend and found myself Shazaming multiple times because their playlists are so good. It adds to the aura of the restaurant and I could only ever recommend you go there. Funnily enough, I haven't even mentioned the food. It almost goes without saying that it is exceptional. I haven't had a bad meal, or even bad item of the menu. Fresh, cooked in an open kitchen and also really inventive. Get yourself there! All the cocktails are epic too, as well as the regular deals of happy hour and £3 pints!!!

Bland food, that resulted in upset stomachs. Pad Thai tasted like burnt oil. Aroma of cough inducing chilli and faint burning from the open kitchen. Avoid this place.
