Can’t complain about anything, at all. Good portions for both Chinese and English food at very reasonable prices. The small team there need to be given a pat on the back!

Chicken curry 1/2 rice 1/2 chips and prawn toast fantastic food

Whenever I’m in Balham I make sure I visit this hidden gem. Extensive menu offerings, from full English to noodle dishes at all times of the day. Proper cafe, most of which are hard to find these days. Owner is always greeting you with a friendly smile, very welcoming!

Great Chinese diner, consistently excellent meals, generous portions, clean! Haven't tried English breakfast, but the Chinese food is all top notch. House special is a must-try! Update: i tried the English breakfast, and it's just as good! Great portions, prices, and service as always!

DOES NOT CATER TO BLACK PEOPLE. Been in there plenty of times, brought my girlfriend with me the one time, i know for sure we are supposed to be served, given our menus, etc. When i came in and sat down I had to get my own menu and also went up to the till to order. I also never got greeted, i have clocked this multiple times coming in alone. The moment me and my girlfriend left, a white couple came in and he greeted them, sat them down and hands them menus. PLEASE AVOIDE AT ALL COST.

This is a brilliant local cafe with amazing Chinese/East Asian dishes. It's kind of legendary in the Balham area at this point. Never disappoints!

Food cooked to an excellent standard. (Would be helpful if diners were informed in the menu as to how many prawns the prawn soup has.) Would buy food from this cafe again.

Haven’t yet found a spot that’s rivals this place. It needs to be open later!!! 🤣🤣 The sweet and sour chicken is just heavenly. The batter retains its crunchiness even whilst being covered in sauce (Most places it goes soggy/soft) Would definitely recommended

Very disappointing. I had a yen for noodles for breakfast. Unfortunately the food was reheated leftovers and while the prawn toast was fresh ,the noodles were yesterdays!

Best Chinese food in Balham, shame they are not open in the evenings.

I love traditional caffs that serve a proper fry up. This time I visited Spicy Noodle Cafe which was actually unsuspectingly a caff. 20 years ago this cafe was acquired by SL who has added Chinese to the menu while fry ups are cooked in a wok. It felt like a Chinese Take away but caff style with breakfast and Chinese. Will be back for something else. There are three other Asian English Caffs out there which I have tried. One is English and Thai while the other one serves English and Chinese roast on one plate. Last but not least Billingsgate Cafe which serves Chinese noodles on Monday morning which takes effort to try.

What a place. Great fry up, great noodle (you can have both at 7am!) plus best cup of tea in Balham. And extraordinarily well priced. A real institution

Very good food. I had the Tom Yum soup and mixed meat ho fun. Came out hot and fresh, service was great and the bill came to £14.60. Lovely.

The food looks and tasted awfully and took a while to be cooked and delivered

One of the soups had spilled over. The broth was fragrant but the noodles & add-ons had absolutely no flavor. The noodle portion was overtaking everything else and again did not have any flavor. Would not get again.

Very pleasant brunch in beautiful sunshine. Very friendly staff and also a waiter who speaks a little French. Fried eggs, toast with cheese and orange juice. And to finish, a very good American coffee with cane sugar. All served at the table. And for less than £10. I like it because it's not fast food graded eggs.

Update had meal yesterday gave instant reviews however after meal i have been regurgitating a lingering after tastes ongoing today which has upset my stomach so i wouldn't ever order any food again wonton meat was off an smelt bad tried to eat later but unable.

Really nice Asia noodle dish, quick, freshly cooked and you can taste the professional stir fry wok taste only from Cantonese cooking.

Currently so obsessed with their food because it always tastes amazing and the prices are decent. My favourite dishes are the wonton soup and ho fun (thick rice noodles) stir fries. This is a hidden gem in the heart of Balham 💚

The chicken noodle soup here is amazing! Huge bowl and big wooden spoon for slurping! Also great for a reasonably priced fry up. Great value and lovely friendly staff and atmosphere.

My favourite local haunt; great food and service. The fry-ups are good but I always get house special noodles and they always hit the spot. I love that you see people from all walks of life eating here. It is what local independent establishments should be, and we should carry on supporting them.

Been coming here for the last 10years the portions used to be quite fair however in recent times the portions have downsized massively and the price has increased rapidly. Food is nice but just not enough for the price.

This is by far the best breakfast/brunch/Chinese food place in South London, the place is immaculate and the food is fresh and delicious, the staff are brilliant too, I wish they opened in the evening too. 6 stars

I understand the price is very competitive and the food was actually tasty but this café hygiene level is far off the minimum acceptable standards! Price is not everything! If the "front of house" is so dirty, greasy, dusty as if cleanings have never been done, how would the kitchen be? How can these people ensure food and hygiene? I wonder when they got 4 stars and if any control has been passed recently. The service was good, the waitress was efficient and friendly. Food was good in taste. However, this café is really too far off the hygiene standards. The pictures attached speak loudly about it. It saddens me to leave such a review but I do hope it will be a constructive feedback for a café that could be able to provide the right standards for a great food offer and atmosphere.

This is my local Chinese restaurant near my work. The best tasting noodles and English breakfast ever! They cook the most delicious and succulent prawns! The place is very clean and the staff are friendly. The service is fast and the place is always busy.

Yummy food! Highly recommend the king prawn noodle which was amazing. However The service was a bit lacking- we tried to get the Bill multiple times before we finally paid which was a bit annoying and inconvenient.

Best cafe in balham by far, Lovely guy Chris and crew!

I hadn't been for a while - I used to go all the time when I worked opposite and it was called Chris's Café at the time. I went recently and it was a lovely trip down memory lane. This café does typical English breakfasts and a lunch menu that ranges from salads, baked potatoes, sandwiches, chips to full roast dinners but for me their best menu is the Chinese menu - best Singapore Noodles in London I reckon - and I lived in Hong Kong for many years! They also do great Ho Fun (which not all Chinese takeaways do). Great value for money too. Not much space to eat in

Chris/ the lovely guy on the front desk, I miss you so much since lockdown! The food is top class here, every meal I've had 5 star. No frills lovely caff in London, missed very much by this welshman in Cardiff. Balham's gain is Spicy Noodle.

Being chinese myself I have struggled to find an adequate chinese takeaway in Balham. Spicy Noodle Cafe is very good and much better compared to the others around the area. I've ordered a few times now and the chinese food is decent enough. Whenever I've gone to order food, it always seems busy, a lot of people order the western dishes which is also nice. The owner seems quite friendly although I have not been there enough to be considered a regular yet so don't get much of a conversation. My only issue with this place is that opening times, if they were open in the evening I would definitely order more often.

Always top quality food here, never had traditional fry up, only Chinese. House special with noodles is a must but you really can't go wrong with any dish. Have been here with many people and never had anyone say anything bad about the food.

Decent Chinese food for breakfast/lunch

This is the some of the best Chinese food I have had in London. Crazy really as it’s such an unassuming little cafe but the good is so good and tastes so fresh and natural. I eat here every week without fail. Try the spicy chicken with spring onion and chilli with rice.

We were looking for a classic, reasonably priced full english breakfast the other day and stumbled upon the Spicy Noodle Cafe. They gave us a steaming mug of tea, a delicious breakfast and friendly service. We will definitely be returning!

Found this cafe/eaterie by accident! Balham is where we have come for funeral masses early in the morning after an hoursplus journey from home. The cafe offers brilliant breakfasts with loads of choice. It is not a trendy style type cafe, but it offers honest tasty food and good beverages as can be attested by the many clients it is able to cater for quickly. Queue up and order a number 5 for a very full English or choose one of the many other dishes or sandwiches available...one man this morning chose spaghetti Bol, another the house noodle speciality...this place is great...may appear a bit rough, but give it a try, you won’t be disappointed with the breakfasts.
