I’ve been here a few times, and the food is always good. The char siu bao and roast duck with noodles are definitely my top picks. But sadly, today’s experience was ruined by a really unpleasant waitress. I don’t know her name, She had long black hair, which is gorgeous, but her attitude was awful. She was rude from the moment she took our order right through to when we paid. It was especially bad when she brought the drinks over and when we asked for a takeaway box— she chucked it on the table, clearly annoyed, and of course not a single "thank you" was said. That said, the other staff were very welcoming and friendly and kept checking to make sure the food was okay, and I really appreciated that

Bao and duck was great and tasty, really good food whenever I come here, sadly the waitress that served us this time was rude, never smiled, and seemed needlessly passive aggressive when asking for a takeaway box, especially when she just chucks it on the table and walks off, we felt like we was a nuisance. Thankfully the other staff that came to us was the complete opposite and really nice and welcoming :)

Siew yok (roasted pork) tasted good but the texture unfortunately fell short - it was not crispy at all. Char siew was ok. The portions were surprisingly big! The xiao long baos (soup dumplings) were unfortunately pretty disappointing as there was no soup inside the baos and tasted quite dry.

We had a selection of dim sum followed by the four meats and every dish was surprisingly good. The 80s rock soundtrack was fun. My criticism was the service. There were no more than four tables in, including us, with four waiting staff. They were all perfectly pleasant but spent most of their time out of sight of the restaurant seemingly hanging out in the kitchen. We had to ask for the table to be cleared after dishes were finished and for lids to be removed. My first empty drinks glass stayed on the table throughout. One of the female staff looked like she had been instructed to wait tables in the style of procrastination. Both couples who came in after us were left for around 4 or 5 minutes before being seated and whilst waiting for our main, we were tempted to grab one of the unguarded delivery bags and sneak off home to eat. We filled out the online form for a free ice cream and were told: oh, it’s not working. The entrance way downstairs is starting to look tired with a dead plant and a big stack of blue roll next to an unmanned bar and the unisex toilets look like they need a good clean. It’s a shame as based on the quality of the food and the decor, this place could be really great; it just needs a good manager.

Me and my friend came here yesterday as she wanted to try the traffic light dumplings. We were seated quickly and ordered drinks. We both had the peacock mango and lime cider which was really nice. I ordered the loaded duck fries to start and the king prawn firecracker with rice. My friend chose the traffic light dumplings and the king prawn firecracker with chips. Once ordered the waiter came over to inform us that the dim sum machine was broken so my friend wouldn't be able to have the traffic light dumplings. She was disappointed as that was her whole reason to want to go there after seeing the hype over it. We still wanted to eat there but I thought maybe they should have informed people about that on ordering - they had told the table next to us after they had ordered too. They brought out the food but gave me my main "big plate" before the small bowl of loaded fries. Again, not a massive issue and I enjoyed the food but I would have liked it the other way round. The prawns were really tender and the rice was nicely cooked. The end bill was surprisingly cheap and the food is good value for money. I didn't eat as many of the duck loaded fries as I was too full but it was nice but not really my idea of loaded fries. You do get a big amount of food for your money. The atmosphere is nice, everything in the dining areas was clean. My last gripe would be the toilets. They're unisex and have two separate ones. Once we finished our meal I went in and someone had left the toilet with some pretty grim leftovers. Not what I want to see after eating. Overall I enjoyed the time spent with my friend and the staff were friendly but it was the few details that just could have been better.

Quite middle of the road in terms of quality. Had the 4 meats over rice, chicken was lovely but think it says alot when that comes out on top over the others. Portion sizes and prices mean you will most likely want to go back but wouldn't be my first choice.

We came on a Monday evening while visiting Manchester, we absolutely loved it! We had Rachel as our server as well as the rest of the team, the service was fantastic and very personable. We will be back when next in Manchester

I discovered this place on tik tok and it didn’t take much convincing to my family that this is where we will have lunch. Great vibes as soon as you walk in, lovely decor and very clean.. friendly staff and honestly one of the best places we’ve been out to eat. I personally like that the food comes out at once that way you have a variety of things to try on the table.

Unfortunately not leaving the best review here. I don’t like to be that person, but 24 hours on it’s not sitting well with me still. I do have to say the service of the FoH was nothing but welcoming and glorious, super helpful, super smiley and attentive, however the manager? was nothing but abrasive from the minute we walked in, we showed our gift voucher and asked about the January deals to which he proclaimed “oh it’s not on today, we’re not doing it” which his colleague had to correct him on. Just a very unhelpful and negative attitude which was unfortunate as myself and my family had been looking forward to our visit for days. Got off to a bad start and the food wasn’t much better really. The food came out at a speed that just screamed ‘’not fresh”. Everything tasted reheated, had the texture of reheated, and the pork belly ‘squares’ were slices that go on the main dishes instead, and they were soggy. The king prawn firecracker had so many large dried chilli’s that was actually not ingestible or edible, We were so hungry we tried to crack on and make the best of it, but the mains weren’t much better. Just very average flavour wise which is a shame as the menu promises such big flavours. It’s not cheap either. I think you’re trying to do so much that you lose control of quality. The Dan Dan noodles honestly resembled what can only be described as, a bolognese. Very sad, wish I loved it. Can’t say we did. Can’t say we’ll be back 🥲

Been a stable favourite of mine in Manchester. Never had a bad meal. Tonight I went with the 4 roast meats, steamed rice and soy sauce. A very generous portion & very tasty. If I had to be super critical, my pork belly was a little dry and the house Sauv Blanc a little tart. But neither would stop me ordering the same again! Good service, active manageress & good value for money. £13 for the main (enough to share) and £7 for the wine.

Unbelievable food great service

Fantastic experience at Yum Cha. The service was friendly and welcoming at all times. I had their noodles which lets you pick the meat, noodle type and dumpling type. It was good value for money with a lot of everything. I also got a side of vegetables and tea. Overall, great choice for a cold evening in Manchester. It’s near Piccadilly station.

Visited for a quick dim-sum dinner and some dishes were proper banging but some were absolutely tragic unfortunately. The ones recommended by staff landed in the later.

What an exceptional meal from start to finish. A warm greeting upon arrival, efficient friendly service and mouth watering food. Been coming here for a long time now and will continue to do so! A shout out for Alex who was really lovely and went the extra mile in terms of customer service. This place is really good value for money and the portions are very generous. Highly recommend the spring rolls and chicken satay. I will let the pics do the talking :-)

Bonito lugar, vista al canal y la comida se sirvió rápidamente. Precios estándar para Manchester. Lo que lo defraudó, en la medida en que no regresaré, fue el servicio. Nos deben haber preguntado 5 veces si habíamos terminado de comer o no por tres camareras diferentes. Molesto y desagradable. No, "está todo bien con tu comida". La impresión es que quieren la mesa tan pronto como te sientes, así que me temo que está un pulgar hacia abajo.

beautiful place and fabulous food, but the service was a bit poor, after ordering the appetizers we wanted to take something else but it was not possible because at 9pm the kitchen was already closed without warning or letting us know about the last order, the closing time is 10pm

Era la primera vez que iba y la sopa de fideos estaba tan buena que le pedí a mi compañero que fuera a por más esta noche. Te advierten que la comida sale cuando está cocinada en lugar de entrantes y luego la red, pero todo fue prácticamente al mismo tiempo. Mi amiga tuvo que llevarse la suya a casa porque había mucho. La gente que trabajaba allí era amable, disponible pero no rondando lo cual me encanta. Habíamos congelado coladas de pino también que eran demasiado buenos! Recomiendo encarecidamente ir! Puedo verme a mí mismo volviendo cuando estoy en la ciudad. Gracias : )

Efficient and friendly service and when a misorder was placed by a new staff member, it was replaced quickly and without fuss. Reccomend the Pharcyde cocktail, they dont skimp on the alcohol 😜

Insane dimsum food. I would say the only problem was they bring the food at any time and not small plates before big plates but that really wasn’t a big problem

Just went and absolutely loved the food! Great big portion and such good value and super tasty. Staff friendly and service was very efficient. I loved the view by the water. Now just thinking about when we can next go back!

Went on a whim with the family today. Aesthetically, the place is very pretty. As there were 8 of us, we sat in a booth, but there was not a lot of space for all of us, and all the food we ordered. Everything we ordered was okay, however, the following wasn't so great: the har gau pastry was too thick, so didn't steam to the traditional translucent as it should be. The xiao long bao had zero soup inside. Salt and pepper ribs, far too salty. I rated the service low for several reasons: We ordered ginger tea for 3. It comes in a big tea pot, but there was only 1 tea bag (Pukka) so it was over diluted, considering Pukka tea bags are designed for individual mugs at best. We asked for another tea bag and the staff member explained that the price is only for one single tea bag per pot, so if we wanted another, he would have to charge us extra. Cutlery, napkins and dipping sauces are placed in a metal caddy on the table, (which we put under the table for the lack of table space), and one of our party accidentally knocked over the soy sauce on the floor. Not only did no one help to clean up or put a wet floor sign for the safety of other customers, one staff member walked over the spillage, ignoring what had happened, to proceed to attend another table. Lastly, not a single staff member acknowledged us as we left (we physically had to walk past everyone by the bar and kitchen entrance). Honestly, good place for Instagrammers, but food was mediocre and service was quite disappointing overall. As an Asian person, I would not be going back nor recommending it.

I love coming here, the food is yummy and there is a great selection of dimsum and large plates. A go to for me if I'm wanting a chill meal with friends

Visited for lunch with colleagues - great atmosphere & service. Large menu & lots of options. The Hoisin Duck & Chicken Katsu Dirty Fries were great to share 😋 Highly recommended 👌

It was my second time being here but first time being here by myself. I wanted to try the cheung fun again but sadly they said something was broken down (I assume it is the cooking device?) so it is out. So I ordered Xiao Long Bao (XLB), pork ribs with peppers and chilly wonton with chicken. I have to say, the chilly chicken looked like they bought it from a Chinese supermarket and just microwaved it. Hmmmm. The pork ribs are the most delicious among the three, surprisingly! The XLB was good BUT because this place does not even have traditional Chinese spoon for XLB, the soup in the XLB was spilled out of the small western spoon and wasted. I also do not understand that why they don't use real chopsticks for a dim sum restaurant. Last but not least, I think it is overpriced.

Staff and vibe were nice but the food was dreadful. I got a bit worried when it came out 5 mins after I ordered and the flavours confirmed why. Bland, sad and a bit cold. For that price, it’s best to go Happy Seasons down the road. Not good at all this.

At my recent visit to a Chinese restaurant, I was immediately greeted at the entrance by a spacious room adorned with a massive poster that teleports you straight to Hong Kong. A friendly staff member promptly guided me to an available table. Once settled, I ordered a drink and took a moment to admire the delicious options on the menu. I've been back multiple times to try various dishes, and everything has been delightful. The quality and taste are remarkably similar to the authentic experience you'd find in a restaurant in China. (confirmed by a friend who was with me for the first time) I highly recommend this place!

It was 'ok'. It had the taste and texture of a Chinese takeaway. It wasnt fusion either - just average. It also felt alot like a chain so I wasn't surprised when my wife googled and noted there is a number of branches. Would I go again? No there are still many places in Manchester that are still authentic Chinese food, beit Dim Sum or evening meals. We decided to visit on the back of online pictures which didn't translate to what we received. There was no wait to be seated and plenty of tables to chose from.

I made a quick pitstop to have some dumplings because I'd heard a lot about them. The sui Mai looked really nice and had a lot of filling but the full shrimp inside was quite chewy and difficult to bite. The soup dumplings were actually nice although I would have liked more soup in them. Overall, a solid attempt.

Pretty average overall. Had some baos which were pretty good. The chow mein was ok - noodles were over cooked and the sauce not reduced enough, but the taste was decent. The dessert baos weren’t great - the filling was too loose and just all fell out in the first bite. Waitstaff was a little overbearing, I didn’t have 5 mins without someone stopping by, was asked if I ordered twice and asked twice if I’d like anything else after i had asked for the bill. But I guess it’s better than unavailable waitstaff.

Fantastic Food and Lovely Staff. We arrived smack bang in the middle of the Pride weekend, but we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. We were shown to a table with high chairs and the staff quickly accommodated our request to move to proper chairs (cos we are getting on a bit :). Service was very quick and the food was amazing. The food arrives in dribs and drabs as it’s freshly cooked, starters arrive with mains and so on, which was a bit alien, but it didn’t really matter! We ended up sharing which was great. Despite them being very busy, we weren’t rushed; it was all very efficient. Would definitely return!

The atmosphere of this place is why I love it, as well as the helpful staff. On my latest visit a lovely young lady called Jeane was my waitress and she was super helpful suggesting food options for me and my daughter. That is one of the main reasons I would suggest this place o anyone looking for a great, affordable meal in the centre of Manchester!

We went here last Sunday and had the Chicken Katsu Curry, Four Meats Roast and vegetable spring rolls. Was up all night with food poisoning. Usually go every month or so and it’s nice food with good portions. Emailed the restaurant but had no response.

I ordered the vegan tofu noodle soup with vegetable wontons. They included mixed vegetables and mushrooms, with delicious broth. Lovely staff, would recommend.

The place gives a very neon-ish atmosphere and very traditional Chinese/Japanese feel(depending on where you sit. The food is very good for the price, proportion and taste!! Try the chicken wontons. I especially recommend trying the Char sui Chow mein, the pork is very very sweet while a hint of spice with the sauce. There will be this one who has ginger hair and is split in the middle, his hospitality is off the chart, he will recommend food according to your taste. He will also teach you how to make usable Chopsticks with tissue paper if you ask him(or if he sees you fumbling with chopsticks) he does with a bit of tissue Overall, this is a 10/10

Visited with friends for food before we went out and were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Ordered chicken chow mein and it was delicious, the portion size was generous. Service was great, attentive and friendly staff :)

We ordered few dishes and it was quite a nice meal out. Aubergine -vegan dish was absolutely delicious 😋 and my partner said his sweet chicken was lovely too. Large coke/sprite £4.20 What I thought it’s a bit pricey… Portions were very generous and £40 for 2 people is not bad at all! Downside there is no lift and It’s quite fair amount of stairs to get there if you have a pram or mobility difficulties 🫣

Big portions and very good price wise. The menu is large and varied. I have had the roast meats on several occasions and been pleased. The other dishes can be somewhat lacking. The venue is modern and has an outdoor balcony. Service is good and the dishes come out very quickly. It is located on kampus, close to picadilly and just across from the gat village.

We had Yum Cha for takeaway and was really happy with the amount of food and the quality. You get so much for your money, especially on the meal deal for two. Shame they serve fries instead of chips but they were tasty.

There is a surprise! Hong Kong style dim sum, fried noodles and rice, dry fried beef with wok gas, the beef is soft and delicious! The waiters are kind and enthusiastic, and the river view outside the window is very atmospheric at night with lights. You can eat and drink while slowly enjoying the night view outside the window.

I really enjoyed the salt and pepper basket, had a variety of items and the salt and pepper siu mai was nice. The dumplings were a little thick skinned for my liking but the flavour is there. The buns were nice and I would recommend these. However I did leave the place feeling like I was extremely thirsty, I did find the sauces really salty. I would not recommend the duck spring rolls, just had no texture to it and was very salty. Although you had to pay £1 to change the rice to noodles, I felt like the portion of noodles were quite small.

Food was very good and was quickly out of the kitchen which helped as we had kids with us. The traffic light dumplings were very good and the kids really enjoyed them. Would recommend the deep fried Nutella dumplings for dessert but they're not healthy.

Char siu cheung fan rice wrap has the consistency of a super safe condom (apparently). Unyielding and rubbery. Tbh the place looked super authentic but was a gweilo idea of dim sum.

Popped in without any expectations, but it was really lovely! My only con would be that the rice paper on the cheung fun is a bit tougher than what it should be, but it was still tasty! Thank you!

Popped in before the theatre. Service was great and the food amazing. The st and pepper fries were of note!! We ordered lots of bits to share and all were equally great. Will be coming back. Reasonably priced for Manchester too.

All round wonderful place but specifically the service. Had a server called Mariam with a brilliant smile and great attitude serve us and made the whole experience much more enjoyable. Would definitely reccomend if you're in the city looking for chinese food and a wonderful time.

I loved my dining experience at Yum Cha. The food was great, I definitely see myself going again and recommending to friends. The vibes were really nice and what I valued most was our amazing service from Mariam, she made the experience very enjoyable through her positivity and friendliness! Overall I had a lovely time.

Have been here on several occasions however such a poor experience recently which really put a damper on the food, which actually had been the best meal we have had here! Staff were initially welcoming advising that they close in ten minutes also we placed our order straight away. Food was speedy and tasty. As soon as we were finished it felt as if we were being watched and hastened to drink up and leave. A server who we hadn't even met proceeded to roll her eyes when asking to merely split the bill. This was well before closing and has made us think twice about returning

Yum cha is my favourite place to eat my comfort food is veggie wonton noodle soup bowl. It is piping hot and service is so fast. I can eat it every day. It’s so full filling and healthy. Everything is in proper proportion, rice noodles, wontons, tofu, veggies. I like to add chilli oil to it. Highly recommended

The food was alright - the dish I ordered didn’t specify it had prawns which I’m not personally a fan of. Although the portion size was good, I feel like it lacked flavour. There were so many flies in the area where we were sitting it was really off putting. The staff were friendly but we weren’t allowed to sit in certain areas. I feel like you can find better food for better prices and a cleaner environment.

Love this place, great for a quick easy meal with loads of flavour with a good choice on the menu.
