Azuma in Manchester

This place is located near the University. There's limited street parking. They have halal options available and a choice of hotpot or bbq. We opted for the Korean bbq as we've never had it before. Halal options include fish,prawns with shell, beef, chicken wings and variety of vegetables. It works like a buffet so you tick what you want and they will bring it to the table for you. The service was good and they showed us how to cook our food. The food cooks very quickly and you can order fried rice or boiled rice to go with your food. The chicken wings take up space and take longer to cook. I appreciate they probably have wings for this reason but boneless chicken thigh thinly sliced would have been better but that's probably not a Korean hotpot food. You get two sauces and When we were leaving we were told that if there's a party of 5, they can order hotpot and bbq together.

The meat quality is very poor, it is all minced meat, the sauce smell is very strong, and the original taste cannot be tasted. The fish makes you want to vomit, even if it is masked by the smell of sauce

Este restaurante estaba lleno y es claramente muy popular entre los lugareños, estudiantes, pareja y familias también. If you want unlimited good food at a reasonable price come here! I am shocked to see the mixed reviews considering how pleasant my experience was in Azuma. I work in the service industry myself so I am able to understand the nuances and complexities that come with being a waiter; the service was impeccable and efficient and there was nothing the staff couldn’t do for us. Also, £28 for unlimited meat is an amazing deal considering how other places in Manchester sell small plates starting from £13! I’d like to give my special thanks to May as she really helped me and my family enjoy our experience! Will be back again :)

Fantastic Korean BBQ or Chinese HoT PoT. Great service. One of my top favourites. Recommending beef with bone but the shrimp should come clean and marinated. Went again and as usual, the shrimp needed manual cleaning, which is not easy after cooking. I hate the part of shrimp head holding its poo and intestines. Then again, it is mostly safe to eat it like this. I can choose to not pick this as well. So I will still rate them as 5 star as the service and overall food and atmosphere is indeed satisfactory.

A little on the expensive side, but it is an all-you-can-eat restaurant and the portions are huge.

The all you can eat kbbq is well worth it for the price. £28 per head and the food quality is top notch. Very large portions but you can always order more anyway so portion for price is unbeatable. Incredible service even on New Year’s Eve and I could tell they were understaffed yet working very hard. Massive props to the staff here you deserve a big bonus for your hard work

Second and Third time being and unfortunately they had run out of several vegetables and rice. So I paid quite a bit of money for almost no food in the end. Might go back for the other menu options, definitely not the Korean BBQ unfortunately. First time here and it was great - I'm vegan and the options were just vegetables and rice, with various dips, for the Korean BBQ, but it was still very nice and the meat-eater options were pleantiful. You BBQ the food yourself at the table, which was a great experience - will likely go again!

Had high expectations. When we ordered meat they gave us less than the ordered quantity. The heat on the bbq was not good; took very long to cook. The bbq sauce was not like expected. The waiter is rude.

Visited as a birthday celebration for family and had a great experience. Really good food and friendly service, nestled very close to the main university area, so it's not overpriced and offers good value for the 2-hour buffet, depending on how hungry / quick you are? Our first time visit, but would go back again - definitely recommended.

The hot pot buffet is super unpalatable. You have to pay extra for all kinds of toppings. The base is so salty that I couldn’t taste anything except the salty taste all night.

First time visiting a Hot Pot Buffet. Could not have been nicer. Went with my daughter and we got to choose 2 flavours of soup/broth. We were given a sheet and asked to choose whatever meat and vegetable we want as well as 2 dips. The food came out quickly and we were cooking our own food very quickly!! Broths were delicious, and spicy!! The service was exemplary and terrifically fast. The staff were most accommodating, asking if we needed more food or drinks (refillable) Would give 10/5 if I could. Had the hotpot buffet/all you can eat, lots of variety of vegetables. Unfortunately, lacking in the meat.

La primera vez que fuimos, recibimos instrucciones claras sobre cómo cocinar y cómo usar el menú. Tenía un montón de comida deliciosa, y tenían excelentes opciones de salsa también.

Mi primera vez experimentando cocinar su propia cena estilo barbacoa. Pides toda la carne, arroz y verduras que quieras y la fríes delante de ti en un plato caliente. Realmente gran actividad con amigos - especialmente bueno si quieres eliminar a los débiles (también conocido como nuestro compañero Danny que generalmente puede picar el estómago, pero en esta ocasión, el cerdo casi lo rompe XD). El caos es lo que también consumió Danny y por caos me refiero a tener que cocinar su propia comida. El personal nos enseñó a él y a nosotros cómo cocinar con seguridad, ya que esta era nuestra primera vez en Azuma, así que después de eso Danny era un chef feliz y todos disfrutamos de la mejor comida que hemos tenido en años. La cerveza también fue TAN refrescante, como lo fue el soju de uva. Gran saludo al kimchi - fue encantador. Está ocupado, un poco ruidoso, y lleno de ambiente amable - así que no vengas si tienes una migraña : )

The food not too bad for the price you pay the staff abit lack of communication cause by language barrier but they’re alright

I went to Azuma a couple of days ago to eat with my friends. The final bill for 10 of us was £309.30, which meant all of us were paying over £30 for food which we had to cook ourselves. This price does not match the value of the food we ate. Please do not waste your time and money eating from Azuma Manchester. Thanks for reading this review.

The service was amazing. The food was equally amazing! We were served by Allen - he was very patient and took his time to make sure me and my partner were comfortable and had a good experience. He kept checking on us and gave useful advice on the food and tradition. The food was marinated beautifully, I was so happy and content with the whole experience. 10/10

Good ingredients, very inexpensive. But the side dishes are a little less. There is not a variety of dipping sauces. Order additional chili and garlic dipping sauce for 1£ per cup.

As of today's date, unlimited meat buffet for 28 pounds. You can use it for two hours, but like in Korea, there is raw meat. It didn't come out and everything was seasoned. fire in the grill Lettuce wraps cooked well and grilled until crispy like soy sauce bulbaek It tastes good when eaten wrapped..♥️ We really like Chinese food. When I ordered squid, the scent of Chinese spices was very strong. I didn't eat well. Shrimp has no scent I recommend it because it’s okay!!! ** Choice of two sauces per person. Korean sauce because it comes in a very small soy sauce bowl. I recommend doing one of each! ** And everyone ate a lot of barbecue. When I leave after eating, the amazing smell of the meat restaurant follows me for two days 🫠 A great place to eat a lot of meat at a reasonable price. We ate here on a whim after a graduation at the nearby University. We ate from the general menu not the BBQ. The food was very good and tasty on all counts and the portion size are large and not your normal sizes. The service was a little difficult as the staff did not speak or understand English we also ordered things and then the waiter came back to either check or say it wasn't available then when the food came out what we were told wasn't available arrived and also what we had reordered. All our food came together even though we specifically asked for starters to come before mains having been to similar places we know to specifically ask for that. We could have got away with ordering half the dishes even without the doubling up. Would we eat there again yes.

The food was very nice, big portions. We had to share the soup & rice with my friend (that was 1 portion). I had squid & my friend had the sweet & sour chicken. I had to take the leftover squid home.

They served all-you-can-eat barbecue and hot pot and a le carte menu. We admit we are heavy meateater and everytime we back for enjoy the unlimited meat! It just around £30 per person, and the quality is nice. It's located surrounding the uni student accommodation. I bet that's why they are quite popular to the youngster and always full house.

It's very salty. The hot pot has no flavor. It tastes very uncomfortable. There aren't many dishes. Overall, it's not good.

Skip this place! The worst Korean BBQ of my life (and my family’s). We advise tourists to not eat here. The meat is chewy, thick, and has more fat than actual meat. All the meats we ordered were seasoned with the same flavor. The chicken wings never cooked fully regardless of being on the grill 30 min. I’ve never seen chicken wings at a KBBQ menu— so that was odd. The “fried rice” was plain white rice with some egg and tasted bland. You get “two” spicy sauces for the ENTIRE TABLE which is the same seasoning sauce the food came with. We understand the concept of “all you can eat” but no one ever checked in on us. We never got the waters we requested twice. We got £10 off of £140 check for the inconvenience and bad service which doesn’t make up at all for the bad taste it left in our mouths. I’ve eaten at numerous KBBQ restaurants and this is the worse one of them all. Do not eat here!

Food and experience was great but could have done with more menu items being in stock. Meat was very good quality and well flavoured.

You get to pick from a list of items including meat and vegetables and then cook it on the stove in front of you. We had to wave down the waiter quite a few times to get their attention to add more items or chase up our order. We had to reorder because they forgot some items. The numbers on the vegetables seemed a little meaningless as 2 portions of lettuce was the same as 4. I think it's unfortunate that everyone is limited 2 sauces/kimchi per person. I think a sauce bar would be nice.

This place is a perfect location for anyone who might not know what Hotpot or Korean BBQ is. It has an easy system and costs are pretty average all things considered for an all you can eat. There is a time limit but there is plenty of time to eat everything you possibly want. It's also very close to the University, however it can feel very crowded during peak hours.

I had both hotpot and BBQ on Sunday lunchtime. We had to gather at least 5 persons to get both. It costs £28.8/px. Total time 2hrs. The BBQ is needless to say. Really good. Taste is good. They marinated with sauce. A variety of choices. For Hotpot, it is a big NO.👎👎👎👎👎. Not much to choose. Very few things to choose. It takes about 20mins to boil the soup. What a waste of time. Food is one of the best. After having 4 or 5 times ordering for a hotpot buffet, the staff started asking us - "do you want to stop?" Every single time after I hv ticked the order paper. It is kinda annoying considering "The Hotpot Buffet". And yes it is within the given time limit as well.

It was a buffet without the buffet but you get unlimited orders like meat. They had a great deal and the drinks were refillable. We got the hotpot and the grill but the meats were a little too salty. Overall, i would visit this restaurant again because of the great deals. One note is that the egg fried rice just needs spring onion and more taste.

It was delicious and with a good atmosphere. I just want to ask for better air conditioning because I had to wash all my clothes from the oily smell. I really want to visit this place again!

It was super unpalatable. I went to eat it today. I read Xiaohongshu’s recommendation and it was really disappointing. The barbecue ingredients smelled stale and the seasoning was unpleasant. I took two bites and ran away quickly. It was too unpalatable! ! ! Moreover, my friend and I both started to feel nauseous after eating, and felt like vomiting. We really need to pay attention to food safety issues.

Read the reviews about this place so thought me and my friend would go check it out plus we are both Chinese. We ordered our food the old women that surved us was really rude and off with us. We even ordered water which I had to asked five times for even tho the people on other tables were getting water drinks before us and fast they didn't have to wait for there drinks like we did. Food was ok we had the BBQ £28 seems overpriced for me plus the bad service doesn't inspire us to go back again so go at your own risk.

Amazing first experience with Korean BBQ, and the staff were super nice and helpful. The restaurant is small, which gives it a proper friendly and cosy vibe. You can order food off the menu, or you have an option of a hotpot or a Korean BBQ (both are all you can eat). We had the Korean BBQ, it was really easy to order, and you are given a sheet with loads of options. The portions you are given are based on how many in your party I believe, and you are given plenty to enjoy. Between 4 of us, we had 8 different meats and 4 different veggies, and that filled us up! I would personally recommend the squid tentacles and the spicy beef, all the food was super yum but those were my personal faves. Will definitely go back to try the hotpot.

It was a very good Chinese hot pot experience, my friend and I ate very full, this restaurant is a restaurant for Chinese food and hot pot, this time we chose the hot pot set, charge 22.8 pounds per person, you can order unlimited hot pot set food, meat and seafood are very fresh. We went to try Korean food for the first time. The Food was nice, though I felt it was overpriced for a hotpot where you cook it yourself. While it was all-you-can-eat, it wasn't for me. The staff were friendly and accommodating, although we encountered some communication barriers. The atmosphere was relaxed enough, though it was quiet due to the time of day. All in all it was a good expereience. Lastly, watch out for children's meals. Azuma charges adult prices for children too.

Hubby to be took me here for my birthday after we had spent the day at the Christmas markets. He booked it as we'd eaten at the Preston one when it was open and we loved it. Can safely say this one was as good if not better. The staff were amazing they were friendly and very helpful. There's a good selection of meats, fish and veg to choose from, it all comes out raw and you cook it yourself. Meats we had prawns, pork and beef with egg fried rice (comes out cooked) and veg we picked leeks, carrots and mushroom. The meats are thinly sliced so they cook quickly and very well seasoned so they taste amazing. Highly recommend this place.

There is a bargain luncheon, A dish + egg fried rice/rice + drink only £9.8! It's close to the business school! Recommended: Sweet and sour pork I really like it. It's sweet and sour and crispy. The beef brisket and the potatoes are both very soft and very flavorful and it goes well with egg fried rice.
