We revisited Talybont for the first time in sixteen years and decided to sample the local food with a visit to the Ysgethin Inn. On entering the pub we were greeted by bar staff who were both helpful and friendly and our drinks very reasonably priced drinks were served quickly with a certain amount of humour. We asked for menu's, ordered our food and in a short time they arrived, the portions were plentiful to say the least, piping hot, delicious and served by waitresses that were both courteous and very obliging. All in all a very pleasant experience and will definately be returning.

Been here loads of times for a drink, but never food. But due to my chaps Birthday we decided to try it. OMG I must say the food was lovely, decent portions, decent prices and above all food was fresh, hot & quickly served. Order was Burger, Lasagna & there Steak Pie, which were all priced around £14 - £15 each. The only tiny critisim was the Steak Pie was on a small rectangle plate, where normally steak Pies like these in a dish, with floating pastry on top are put onto the bigger plate, so they can be tipped out and place the pastry on top (alot less messier) So overall a lovely meal & will be returning shortly on our next holiday.

Beautiful setting, food was lovely couldn't fault at all, but the staff are absolutely awful! No smiles from any of the staff at all, the guy huffed and puffed when I asked to order food. 2 trainees on bar that had no idea how to pour a pint or what any alcohol even was. I work in a family pub and if we have any trainees on bar its always made sure they are trained during the week days and not on a weekend when it's busy! Women's toilets were practically under water and the baby changing table is right in the way of the door and so high I could barely reach to actually change my babies nappy! So disappointed as I have been coming here for over 30 years for food anytime we have been on holiday. Such a shame the staff clearly hate their jobs as not one of them put a smile on their face.

Visited here last night after my partner calling in previous evening and liking the pub. We had a meal which was lovely. Staff very polite and quick service. Outdoor play area really great and garden so lovely. Great place to sit and relax. River right next to pub running past all tables. Would definitely recommend.

We went Sunday 9th of June we popped in for a drink and ended up having a Carvery it was lovely the meat just melted . The staff were really nice very pleasant polite and very welcoming. The Garden is beautiful nice play area and lovely by the river Will definitely visit again .

Why does a pub have the signs lit up with an arrow implying they're open. The website confirms it!!! Then you walk a mile to find it shut. They can't be bothered to update their website. We can't be bothered to go again( enjoyed in the past) Lazy!!!! Unprofessional

Dog friendly section, friendly staff and a good tasty meal, can’t ask for much more. Between us we had scampi followed by cheesecake and steak followed by chocolate fudge cake, delicious!

The food here was amazing, I go as far to say it was the best steak I have tasted in a long time. There was 7 of us who ate and every dish was spot on would definitely recommend. I had the salted caramel cheesecake too which was to die for. Thanks for making our experience so pleasant 😊 we will be back again next year.

Great dog friendly pub, never disappoints. Service was very fast and gammon to die for. Bar staff remembered my previous drink that I found amazing. Will definitely return to this little gem.

When we are in the area we always like to go to the Ysgethin for drinks and a meal as it’s always the same great food. It’s a lovely old pub that has maintained its character. The drinks are reasonably priced with excellent choice. We had chicken curry, lasagne and steak pie and all were great, very well cooked and fresh. A lovely informal evening. And our dog was able to come in with us and sit at the one end of the restaurant. Thank you Ysgethin.

Only pizzas were been served when we visited, nothing else. We had to wait over 45 mins for our 2 pizzas, with other people who came in after us getting there’s before us. The staff couldn’t smile if they tried, not very friendly at all. Lots of mix up with wrong pizzas been given out. When ours finally arrived wasn’t worth the wait, the pizza base was hardly cooked. Very disappointing.

5* and then some. Dog friendly inside and out. Beautifully set up establishment inside and out for all walks of life, couples, friends and families. We hunt booked, went out late, had lots of different family members who had to be catered for. We got everyone happy. Food superb. I can't praise this place and staff enough

We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The outside area with the stream is lovely and the park for the children is new and well maintained. Unfortunately for us it was raining so we grabbed a table inside. The inside of the pub is old but adds to its character. Our food was good pub food and everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff were also very friendly, they offered us some paper towels to dry off from the rain. They also noticed I was holding my baby so they offered a highchair as my food was coming out. They set it up for me which was amazing. Overall, good pub food, great outside area and helpful friendly staff

Wes arrived at 5.05 and food service started at 5 , the bar opening at 4 . There were 9 of us and as you can’t book just managed to get a table .You can’t reserve a table! The menu’s was typical pub grub , you have to que for food orders and drinks , staff were friendly and the food didn’t take long to come and the pub was packed! Food was great with no complaints. Would definitely recommend for a pub meal!

Stayed nearby and went for family meal. Peak holiday season and decent weather so very busy. Service was good, decent bog standard pub grub, portions were decent but nothing special. Outside facilities very good over looking river. Family friendly. Indoors needs some updating . Top marks for beer, good selection and well kept.

What a gorgeous hidden gem! Decided to try the pizza here whilst staying in the area for a few days . The outside was just amazing! Especially enjoyed sitting by the river, which flows alongside the back garden. Inside has a real charm to it, no unnecessary bits of modern furniture added, just a good old fashioned pub feel. The pizza was delicious! Arrived to our table quickly and was still hot from the oven . The staff were lovely and friendly, very welcoming , dog friendly pub! Would definently go again .

Absolutely gorgeous place an old, I believe a listed building. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and really hardworking. They keep their website and Facebook up to date with any events that are taking place. It's a pity that people obviously don't check before visiting, is there an event on and meal service hours, then they are disappointed and complain which is completely unacceptable. Tuesday was pizza night the pizza was delicious and when I asked for a slight change it was fully accommodated to my liking. The chips are the best in the area, not those straggly fries. On arrival we were immediately told to hurry up and order food as the kitchen closed at 8pm and it was only 7:30pm. We felt this wasn’t the nicest greeting. In fact through the entire visit the customer service was well below average. My teenage nephew was with us who works in hospitality and thought it was well below par. The outside of the place is nice however inside leaves a lot to be desired and hasn’t been updated in about 40 years. It was also dirty especially table which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a few days. It was Tuesday (pizza night) 3 of us had Margherita’s with basically just a lot of cheddar cheese on which was far too much and very sickly. The cheese was that bad my other nephew had to eat the back of the pizza just so he couldn’t taste it. I had Pepperoni however struggled to find much pepperoni under the far too much cheese. The chips we ordered weren’t chips at all they were more like long crisp sticks. It was quite cold inside and none of us took our jackets off due to this. All in all we won’t return as the food was terrible and the service no better

From start finish the whole experience was faultless. Super friendly and helpful staff. Wide selection on the menu and all more than reasonably priced. We both opted for gammon and the quality and portion size was amazing. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

So good we went twice, Saturday evening and Sunday evening. Have been lots of times in the past and always had great food, but this is first time in five years and one word I would use to describe the food is delicious. I can highly recommend the pulled beef chilli and the Lasagne and the rest of my family enjoyed everything they had. Wanted to have a pudding but was too full both nights. Best burger I've ever had. I had the chef's special burger it was just amazing. From the first bite my taste buds just exploded and the fries and onion rings were out of this world never tasted onion rings like them and the staff were really friendly and polite. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be returning. A big 5 stars from me and my family
