Food very disappointing unfriendly staff wouldn't recommend stay away

The food was shocking! The kids both had roast dinner and they never turn their noses up at roast dinners but they did at this. Rock hard peas, the mash potato had no taste. My mum had the prawn sandwich and she said it was chewy…half the stuff we asked for wasn’t available either, you would think that with amount of time it had taken to make food it was all done fresh but it wasn’t. While we were sat there they were turning customers away from 2pm and honestly lucky for those customers. The prices don’t match the quality of the food.

Good food but didn't have the first 5 items requested that were on the menu or advertised as a special. The staff seemed disinterested. If it hadn't been pouring with rain we probably would have left.

We ordered an all day breakfast at five in the evening. Bacon and sausage were tasty as usually they are all over the country. I found the mushrooms extremely delicious, juicy and fresh. The hash browns too very cooked just right. The service was a little slow, probably because of the crowd, but it worth the wait.

Just popped in for some lunch,seated straight away,food was brought us very quickly too. Generous portions and lovely food,would definitely recommend.

Just had lunch at this cafe for 4 people and could not fault the food and service. Best place I've found that isn't over crowded noisy and busy in Porthmadog.

TWENTY QUID for a lunch that can only be described as poor at best. The all day breakfast wasn't bad but an extra 90p for toast and butter is abit daft. And there is NO veggie alternative either which in this day and age is pathetic. As for the cheese and onion 'sandwich'; £9 for grated cheese and massive chunks of raw onion! What a load of junk! (Picture provided) Then there is the attitude of the staff. A very unwelcoming attitude that wishes you hasn't sat down and ordered. As simple as it gets. Miserable and delusional... Also, a young girl and her mum came in to see if the young girl could use the toilet. She wasn't able to and the owner decided to tell her this from the other side of the room so the whole place knew of her miserable, pathetic attitude

Looked nice from the outside but like going back in tile when inside. Limited menu with a number of items not available. Breakfast was awful and not worth the money. Cheap sausages that were burnt. One measly piece of packet bacon. Very overpriced for what it was. Avoid if possible and don't get mislead with the modern exterior. Now know why it was empty when we ate there.

Tea was fine. Toilet was broken. Overall a bit basic.

Just had the misfortune to walk into this place for lunch. Looks nice from outside but upon entering the establishment it is like going into a 1980’s time warp. The interior is very dated, the toilet did not flush and the hand dryer did not work and there were no hand towels in the toilets. As for the food, it is appalling reheated frozen food. £12 for a frozen cod in breadcrumbs, that was over cooked. Seriously overpriced for the poor quality of food. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but people need to be warned about how poor value this place is. I can’t believe the owners feel these are acceptable standards. Sorry for the negative review but you really need to up your game if you expect to stay in business.

Very clean. Nice food. Reasonably priced. Restaurant is a bit strong, it's a nice café.

A throwback to the 80’s. The food was terrible. It was clearly not fresh home prepared, and the prices were extortionate. £4 for a bottle of Asahi 😂 Lesson learnt. Won’t ever be returning.

Massively overpriced, food was way below average for even a simple microwaved jacket spud! Zero atmosphere. Swerve if you can.

Very dissapointed! Was told plate was hot, but on eating found roast beef was tepid, mash tasted like instant, and Yorkshire Pudding was soggy. Just like eating microwave food! Hottest item on my plate was the horserash sauce!

Lovely restaurant, with a warm welcome on a rainy day! We all had the lunch menu, Starter: prawn cocktail plentiful, soup of the day (vegetable) with a warm roll - lovely & the cheesy garlic bread went down a treat. For our main we opted for the Beef with Yorkshire pudding...no faults, everything was well presented and staff offered a friendly service. We would recommend if looking for home comfort / warm atmosphere... We will be back, thank you! (Diolch)

Excellent, popped in for an all day breakfast, absolutely nothing to complain about, food was delicious, service was excellent, very clean and tidy restaurant. It's not part of a large chain, so worth a visit. Recommended.

Small family restaurant, good food and traditional desert.

Called for lunch a few days ago. Didn't have to wait long for a table. Hand sanitizer outside to use prior to entry and once inside a marked area to stand in to wait until taken to our table. Food was of good quality, hot meal was perfect and sandwich fresh and tasty. Tea was just right. The staff are Covid 19 aware and every precaution is being taken by them.

Good food. Good value. Good taste.

Visited this little place with my husband today,we could easily have missed it and just walked past but we spotted it and decided we wanted something "proper" to eat instead of just fish and chips,walked in and was greeted by a lovely chirpy gentleman who showed us to a table,we looked at the menu and around 10 minutes later our order was taken,we both went for the roast beef dinner,a bottle of bud and a fanta,this took around 15 minutes from ordering to coming to the table,when it came it was beautiful, all fresh veg the beef melted in your mouth and the gravy was to die for it as lovely!!! We paid £8.95 for the roast which I think was great value for a home cooked meal when down the road it was £8.99 for greasy fish and chips!!! Great work guys 😀😀

First visit but will not be our last. The staff were very friendly at this awkward time. The food was very good and well presented thank you for a lovely experience

Went in for lunch today, food was OK but when going to pay was told they won't accept our money because they were Scottish notes and that no where would accept Scottish tender. They were wrong everywhere eose we went accepted our notes and seeing as it's legal tender not sure how they get away with it. Unfortunately left a tip before this, sorry incident.

Spotlessly clean excellent food

Small restaurant in Porthmadog which was extremely quiet as it was pushing 18.00 o'clock on a bank holiday. When we went in didn't realise they were about to close, however the owners still honoured us by serving the food and drinks we ordered in a timely and friendly manner

Just ok if you're hungry. Food was like school dinners. Expensive canned or bottled drinks.Wouldn't go there again.

The food was terrible, the crust in the fish was Burt and clearly re-cooked after giving them a comment they told us to pay and get out and they also told us we’re rude although it was our personal opinion, it’s the worst place I’ve ever been in they also added that they don’t guarantee fresh food and told us to pay more if I want fresh. Costumer service was absolutely disgraceful. Don’t recommend it unless u want to be sick the next day!

1st time there and was really impressed very clean area busy and if you like steam trains then this for you

Very tasty homemade soup & roll along with cheese covered garlic bread as a side was ample for a lunchtime meal. Would recomend.

This establishment describes itself as a restaurant, it barely makes café! You would have a better eating experience in any of the motorway cafes doted around the county. Best to avoid !

Lovely little place, friendly staff and nice food

Don't go here if you are expecting anything like a local experience.. it's as close to mass produced as you can get.. the fish is likely straight out of a findus frozen pack..you have to ask for tarta sauce but don't expect anything better than a Sashay.. we also ordered turkey with cranberry sauce.. guess what... couldnt remember to add the cranberry... Tables are far too big for the restaurant with you feeling crammed in between other people.. almost impossible to move .. very disappointed...

Microwaved food, refused to serve child's portion to adults, charged full price for a roast dinner with no meat (vegetarian). Have ice cream next door instead.

Shocking, went in for a meal for 8 people, first I went to order mixed grill to be told that there is no mixed grill so I thought I would have a rump to be told that there was no rump but everything else was available on the menu so 3 of us decided to have a beef lasagne again no lasagne, I settled with the beef diner, when this came out I was told to be careful because the plate was hot, to discover the reason being all the food was strait out of the microwave, roast potatoes was like eating cardboard. Very disappointed ☹️

I'm sorry but I can't recommend it. Very little portions and I had a feeling that the fish was ready made from "Aldi", three very thin and dry plasters of lamb and five tiny new potatoes, the soup was only all right. Ordered an ice cream sundae, wasn't homemade and it was a plastic container in a glass with whipped cream on top from a can, too expensive, very disappointed. I thought that English tea is very strong but this one was so weak, I couldn't even add extra water to it, what is the point of doing a whole pot of tea. Please improve. Thank you

Very disappointed! We asked for the allergy menu, to be told "we don't do allergies" . We advised that they have to have a menu with all ingredients by law to be told again they don't "do" allergies!

Ordered an ice cream sundae for £4.50. Wasn't homemade, was a plastic container in a glass. Sundae was solid and unable to eat for ages. Too expensive when not homemade. Other food night be good but don't know. Don't buy an ice cream sundae here.

Firstly I would just like to say I have never put in a complaint about anything before but this place was the worst we ordered 4 portions of sausage chips peas and gravy 1 pot of tea we ended up waiting about half an hour when there was other people coming in who seemed to get served straight away when the food eventually arrived we couldn't believe how small the portions were chips were undercooked the sausages were burnt and the gravy was lumpy it came to £50.00 which to this day I still carnt believe we have had better meals at bingo for 3 quid never going here again what a disgrace

Nice people, quick service, healthy and not overpowering food.

Visited Portmadog today. Very few businesses were accessible for wheelchair users. Found this quaint and very welcoming little ristorant. With homely atmosphere and very kind staff and owner. Food ordered was beyond great expectations. Jacket potatoes came with a lush dressed salads. Sandwiches came with chips and salads. And the lasagne was beaut coming with chips and dressed salad. Despite the downside of not having the drink in stock that we tried to order, all in all, a highly recommended place to visit and with 5star hygiene rating, this promoted the decision of the ratings.

Nice enough food, but almost none of the vegetarian options were available.
