Fabulous experience, with really tasty and unusual regional Chinese food (Hunan province). If you are adventurous, you will be rewarded with food that is fresh, unusual, and flavourful. It can be spicy or salty or oily, depending on the recipe. One thing it is more than anything else, in my opinion - authentic. We are talking fish heads, chicken gizzards, pork trotters, beef tripe and tendons - if you fancy a go. You don't have to; there are plenty of other lovely and familiar dishes on offer. If you buy a side dish of rice or order a pot of jasmine tea, you can top up for free on them. The service is second to none, the atmosphere - lively and fun, with lots of Chinese young people/students dining there. This was not a cheap eaterie, however, and the ambiance was just perfect for our little party. We left full and happy, and planning to be back soon.

The most terrible chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Service was poor.

This time I came to visit a friend and he took me to this restaurant. It was really a surprise! The ingredients are very fresh and the taste is very authentic. After taking the first bite, I felt that I had come to the right place. The decoration style of the store is very fresh, simple and comfortable. It feels very suitable for eating and chatting with friends. And it feels like most of the people in the store are students, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, like a cafeteria that has been recognized by nearby students. After eating, I completely understand why my friends recommended this place, and I will definitely come back if I have the opportunity in the future!

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. The duck was overwhelmingly salty, and the lamb had a very strong, unpleasant gamy taste. The portions were also extremely small for the price. When I raised my concerns with the owner, they were rude and dismissive, insisting that the lamb was supposed to taste that way and refusing any refund or exchange. On top of that, they forcibly charged a service fee that could not be removed, despite the awful service. Their attitude was terrible, and the overall dining experience was disappointing. I would not recommend this place.

I had such a great experience at this restaurant!!!! The food was absolutely delicious—we ordered the crispy pork, stir-fried eggplant, spicy stir-fried pork, and the sour & spicy noodles. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful, you can tell they really care about the quality of their ingredients. The service was top-notch too; the staff and the owner were super friendly and made us feel right at home👍🏻The vibe inside was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a casual meal with friends or family. Definitely coming back soon!🤞🏻

I chose this restaurant for a dinner party with friends a few days ago and I was really satisfied! There were a lot of us and we ordered a lot of dishes. Every dish was delicious and the portions were generous, so we didn’t have to worry about not having enough to eat. I especially recommend their signature dishes. The taste is very authentic and the ingredients are very fresh. Everyone had a great time eating it. The environment in the store is quite spacious and the decoration style is very comfortable. It is suitable for a group of people to chat while eating without feeling crowded. The waiter's attitude was also very good, and the food was served very quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long at all. The key is that the price is very friendly and very cost-effective per person, especially suitable for student party dinners like us. I will definitely come here again for friends gatherings in the future, it’s a great experience!

Previously a favourite Chinese spot of me and my friends this place had severely gone downhill last we went. I don't know if a different chef has taken over but the food is all changed and downgraded. Everything once flavourful has become rather bland. Disappointing considering the price you still have to pay. Edible but would recommend you look elsewhere now.

Tasty and authentic cuisine. We let ourselves be guided by Chinese friends who have rediscovered a taste for local cuisine. We will return with pleasure!

Busy for a Tuesday evening. Food was good too

As a Taiwanese person, I can very confidently say this is the best Chinese restaurant in Bristol, in the SW even !! Every dish is on point. The braised pork belly melts in your mouth and the Chongqing spicy chicken is PACKED with flavour. Please visit when you have a chance 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

From the moment we entered the restaurant, the polite and courteous staff made every effort for our dining experience to be memorable. The menu was extensive and it was difficult to choose from such a wide range of delicious sounding dishes. After ordering, our food arrived in excellent time and - as expected - was amazing. The portions were generous and we can personally recommend the Braised Duck in Beer Sauce 啤酒鸭 and Chilli Oil Braised King Prawns 油焖大虾. It was important to note that when the manager noticed it was a little warm inside, he immediately offered to relocate us to a cooler location which was genuinely appreciated and an example of how they placed the customer first. Highly recommended and we are already planning to return in the near future.

Wow the food here is excellent. Everything was very tasty and great value. We got a sharing meal for 5 which could have easily fed 8. Very impressed with both the quality and service here

Two years of 50 visits and keep trying new dishes, I needed to revisit my review for Your Kitchen and change rate from 5/5 to 2/5. Food is still good but quality and size of portions dropped significantly. Some dishes fully changes (like cumin beef) and from 5/5 dropped to 1/5. All dry pots have been much smaller than before. In other restaurants stuff can recognise me if I'm visiting the restaurant 3-4 times per month but in Your Kitchen people are cold like always and not even carrying if I came back or I'm just another new customer. There is always additional service fee but there is almost no service. At the top of that, prices went up and if I will order 1 starter, 1 main dish and 1 dry pot, it will cost me roughly £50. When I visited just a half year ago and ordered exactly same dishes, I had much bigger portions for the same price. Now? The dishes are coming on the new plates but portions are like 1/3 or 1/2 smaller than just a half year ago. It was worth to try it 1-2 years ago but not it's really just OK Chinese restaurant which lost of lot of the vibe and now the quality:price ratio is really low.

Very nice ambiance. They have authentic regional Chinese food. Huge menu which is classic of Chinese restaurant. Friendly staff. They do not hold back on spice so make sure you tell them how spicy you want your food. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back!

Discovered this place on Trip advisor. We love Chinese food but are so often disappointed we had almost given up on it. Well, this has restored our faith completely, absolutely delicious food, from small bites, noodles, crispy beef, belly pork to the scrummy spring onion pancake. All served piping hot and so tasty. We ordered too much but had most of the pancake boxed to bring home. Really friendly staff and great looking restaurant interior. It was chilly so we did not sit outside, however, the outdoor seating is also well set out. We do not live in Bristol but we will be back when next visiting. Thank you for a delicious meal. Very reasonable pricing on the wine

Went for a take away, It was lovely , had their lamb and beer 🍺 duck 🦆 (that’s duck cooked in beer 🍺) Lovely tasty yummy 😋 Would try something else next week 🙏🍺

First, they brought us the wrong bill and asked us to pay. If we didn't look carefully, we paid the wrong bill. Then there is a service charge for specially ordered dishes that need to be taken away. I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. When it was time to pay, the owner mistakenly charged us for someone else's bill and didn't even apologize for the mistake. Additionally, after we finished our meal, we ordered a few more dishes to take away. The owner charged us a service fee for the takeaway items, which seemed unreasonable. Overall, this experience was quite frustrating and the lack of proper customer service was disappointing.

Absolutely loved the food here- it was delicious and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had the lunch deal which was great value- starter main and a side for £10.80. The food was fresh and deliciously flavoured and the rice portion was huge! We also had some salt and chili chips which were the best I’ve ever had!! Would really recommend and can’t wait to come back to try more! What a great hidden spot.

Definitely THE BEST Chinese Restaurant in Bristol. Authentic, the variety of menu options, and very pleasant service. Since their opening, I have became a firm fan of theirs. Ate in there many times as well as order delivery, never disappointed!

High class Chinese restaurant with apparently authentic Chinese food. I'm not an expert, so I can't judge, but I noted many apparently oriental diners, which I guess is a sign of authenticity. Deliciious food, and well woth a visit or takeaway.

nice sichuan food and good service

The food is actually okay, but! When I paid, I was told that cash would be discounted, but I didn't give a receipt. In the end, I paid the original price. I think this behavior is really suspicious and I have never encountered this situation before. Even if I ask why, no one can explain it. This attitude is too strange. I suspect that it is either a restaurant waiter's job embezzlement or a tax avoidance for the restaurant. On the contrary, it aroused my curiosity. Anyway, I won’t go there again. I will contact the British tax office after the holiday to provide clues.

My family and I love coming here for real Chinese food. In the last few years, the places we used to go to just aren’t up to standard and they’ve become westernised. It is a bit pricey but for the quality and taste, we keep coming back. Highly recommend the chongging chicken and the Chairman’s mao pork belly. The staff are also very lovely.

Only order a hot and sour noodle in soup. £11 with no toppings, plain noodles. Same price in city centre would with ribs or beef. But portion size is alright and it didn’t take long time to wait. They got some meal deal in the afternoon which is cheaper with drink, maybe can consider that. Toilet is clean as well.

Definitely my favorite Chinese food in Bristol. A huge array of dishes, all of which have been excellent. I particularly love the whole seabass and the Wuhan hot dry noodles...and the spicy boiled fish fillet, and the Laoganma chili oil with black bean fried rice...I guess I could go on, but everything is great! Very friendly and good service too. They're very accommodating of dietary requests, too.

The food was incredible, will definitely be back to try more! The cocktails were great too, very good value for money, and the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Food was unpalatable, I would like to highlight 2 dishes that I was disappointed with. First is the steamed eggs, 蒸水蛋, they were so watery and loose that they couldn’t be scooped with a spoon. Upon my request to remake the dish, the waiter denied that there was anything wrong with it, but eventually complied with my request. The remake of the dish (shown in the photo) wasn’t any better than the first one, it was still very watery. We had to finish it anyway because the prices here aren’t too wallet friendly. The second dish，酸菜鱼, hardly had any pickled vegetables in it. They were replaced with fresh vegetables, and hence lacked the tangy and sour taste distinctive of this Sichuan dish. In conclusion, the dishes here are expensive, not tasty, and not authentic, despite what a lot of reviews say.

Worth to visit again~ Some chef will put a lot of MSG for spicy food but this is not the case for Your Kitchen. They serve tasteful spicy food and we love it🥰

One of Bristol's best kept secrets! We had a fantastic experience at Your Kitchen. The staff were extremely accommodating and so helpful in taking us through the menu and advising on which dishes we would enjoy. The food itself was superb - amazing quality and served piping hot. I cannot recommend Your Kitchen enough!

Food was actually lovely - but didn't love the service. We have a tip on a bill that was nearly 200, and he chased us down the street to ask for more of a tip 🥴

Nice food, especially chilli dishes. Worst service I have ever seen in Bristol or even UK.

The foods they served here were excellent as both the seasoning and ingredients were on point. We’ve ordered braised sea bass, braised duck in beer sauce, stirred fried beef with green chilies, and a bowl of kelp with pork ribs soup. The stirred fried beef with green chilies was spot on as the chilies were delicious and flavourful. The braised sea bass and ducks with beer sauce was also great as the spice they use was able to draw out and paired well with the umami taste of the meat. Nevertheless, the portion was small as the three of us were still hungry after lunch. I do wish the portion size can match up with the price of each dishes in the future.

Bristol’s best secret - it shouldn’t be kept for long. Amazing service, taste sensations and such a touch to have the option of eating under palm trees on a terrace. I keep some restaurants to myself when they’re small but thriving, so I can get a table - this one we all need to tell our friends about.

Amazing experience. Came here on a Sunday, whilst the restaurant was quiet. The owner came to our table and recommended dishes as he recognised we weren't familiar with traditional Szechuan and Human cuisine. His recommendations were perfect, we enjoyed braised sea bass and chairman mao's pork. One of the highlights was the cold smacked cucumber! The prawns were also excellent, with a slight smokiness. Would definitely recommend to those who are looking for a more traditional Chinese meal and are willing to be adventurous. Will definitely be back, thank you!

Had an amazing meal today at Your Kitchen. A really extensive menu that was difficult to narrow down (so we had ordered A LOT) and it was all incredible. So flavoursome, varied, and also came so quickly. Would really recommend.

Really enjoyed the food there - Authentic, flavoursome and delicious! The Chongqing Spicy Chicken (the one with loads of dried chilli) was so good on its own or with a bowl of plain rice. Preserved Egg (皮蛋) was right up my street too… Generous amount of garlic in the cooking made me so happy! Service was quick, attentive and friendly. Cannot wait to visit again… to sample more of the dishes on their extensive menu! All looks so interesting! Highly recommended! (I have indeed revisited a few more times, and have not been disappointed… I tried the Stinky Tofu, Wontons in Chilli Oil, Dan-Dan Noodle with pork ribs… every single dish has been delightful!)

Awesome. The best Chinese cruise in Bristol!

(Update, Dec 2022 – after 6 months the map pointer has finally been updated on Google Maps! It now points to the correct location i.e. where you enter the restaurant). I love this place. They do a wide range of Hunan and Sichuan dishes, and there are always plenty of Chinese people eating here. If you haven’t tried 'Stinky Tofu’ I definitely recommend it, and have also really enjoyed ‘fish-fragrant Aubergine’ and ‘Grandma’s Dish’. Weekday lunch deals are excellent, and Alan the owner and all the staff make each visit a pleasure. There’s also a lovely outdoor terrace, with shade, so it’s perfect for summer lunches in the good weather.

It was an elegant shop with great food. We enjoyed the dinner a lot but the portions were a bit smaller that I thought. It might be because of the dished we order tho. Worth to give it a try.

Bristol's Chinese food scene has a new contender! Your Kitchen specialises in cuisine from Hunan and the Sichuan Province. It may sound like a non-spicy eater's worst nightmare, however, it was surprisingly not too bad even I could handle it. We ordered four dishes between four. Chongqing Spicy Chicken, Fried Tofu with Minced Pork, Grandma's Dish and Stir-Fried Silk Potato. My personal favourite was the tofu - so soft and I loved the sauce. Grandma's Dish doesn't reveal much from its name but it's basically preserved greens with pork mince and chillies! Goes well with plain rice. The only annoyance was their chicken could have been boneless for a better experience. We felt there was not much meat. Otherwise, it was crispy and delectable! Service is welcoming plus the cost was worth it. We want to eat them all.

Great food & service, excellent quality genuine Chinese.

A Bristolian friend suggested we visit Your Kitchen as it was relatively new and she'd heard it was tasty, and I am glad we did because what we had were definitely authentic Hunan and Szechuan dishes. My mum's father is from Hunan and I am pleased to say many are similar to our homecooked meals. As is the way with cuisine from these areas, most dishes are quite spicy - we didn't ask to dial it down but I'm sure they would be willing to do so if you can't take as much spice! I was particularly a fan of the sliced pig ear and red braised pork belly. Unfortunately we didn't try the stinky tofu but I am definitely curious... Next time I visit Bristol, I'll have to bring a bigger group so we can try more dishes!

Wonderful Hunanese food! Very authentic and delicious. Clean restaurant with a great deal of outdoor seating as well as indoor. Highly recommended. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Bristol and I’ve been to all of them.

Can definitely see this being a regular dinner spot for us. There is a Chinese section of the menu, and a more westernised part. They have other Asian (non-Chinese) food, too. The spring rolls and sweet & sour chicken were so good! This is minor, but for some reason, they never seem to have enough menus to give one to everyone at the table.

Super OG! Very Flavorful and very friendly with non-spicy request. My wife can’t eat spicy and they make sure to cook us absolutely rich flavors dishes without the crazy spicy. 10/10!

One of the best authentic Sichuan kitchens in Bristol!

Yes to proper authentic, spicy Sichuan / Hunan food in Bristol! This is what we've been missing. Real nice place to sit in the evening, we go the marinated ox tongue, chili oil braised king prawns, and the stir fried aubergine (eggplant) with cowpeas. It was all delicious. We just sat there and ate. Staff were really friendly and prices are good. We'll be back, probably too often.

Great selection of Hunan and Szechuan food - wish I had more space in my stomach to eat more! Service was commendable too. We ate outside in the garden (35c heatwave) and they made sure we were comfortable. There were quite a lot of flies and wasps once food is served outdoors, so the waitress took initiative to bring us a citronella candle which was helpful. Looking forward to come back again.

Really good authentic Chinese. Kung Po Chicken is the first time I have had it in this country where it tastes how it is supposed to. Staff are lovely. Highly recommend! Also lots of outdoor seating for warm weather.

Came in on Wednesday and had a great meal and experience. Amazing authentic Chinese food with loads of dishes to try. The owner served us and was a lot of help with recommendations. He recommended dishes for my friend and gave me different recommendations for myself being vegetarian. In the end modified a meat dish (Grandma's Dish) to be vegi and it was delicious. Dishes are shown as a little expensive but the portion sizes are large to make up for it (we got a main dish each, and then a rice and a side to share) we ended up taking a togo bag for lunch the next day. No beers on tap but the owner says hes in touch with local breweries to get some within the next month. Will defo be coming back to try something new soon

Amazing restaurant with the most authentic Chinese food I've had in Bristol. The staff are extremely lovey people too. Had a lovely chat with the owner of the restaurant and he is a brilliant genuine bloke!

We called on the off chance ,the staff were very friendly ,the food was fantastic ,the price was very reasonable the inside of the building was a pleasant surprise .if your in bristol make a point of finding this pleasant hide away .we didn't take our phones so no pictures .but definitely look the place up you won't be disappointed.

Lovely attentive service, very friendly, made sure we have enjoyed our experience. Celebrated my birthday, but I didn't tell staff, went as a family. Boys loved the food and the food was very authentic brought some lovely memories. Will comeback soon, restored our faith in authentic Chinese. We normally get treated less favourite to Chinese customers, but not here. Thank you 😊
