Spent a delightful night at the local “Spoon”! while in a cycling holiday. Brilliant staff and also the bonus of a quiz night on the Monday evening! The staff and Llanelli locals were so friendly! Thank you for making a memorable night!

Working away in Llanelli, found the spoons just like any other, friendly staff, cheap prices but a dump with filthy tables with lots of uncleared plates of half eaten food!

Called in for a late breakfast whilst in town. Ordered, certainly at my table within the allocated 10 mins and hot. A pleasure to eat and well worth the price. Staff always cheerful and helpful.

Why oh why is it had to bring a hot breakfast to the table. Is the food waiting longer than necessary to be delivered to the table after chef has sorted it out. Toast on many occasions is just warm white bread.

Our neighbour and very, very good friend had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Llanelli born and bred and immensely proud of it, we'd listened to his tales of south Wales with great interest. In particular we'd heard tales of Llanelli cockles and lava spoken of in such high regard that there was only one thing for it. We drove from our home in Notts to Llanelli and had lunch in The York Palace. It was nice just to be there to be honest. The food was lovely and the staff were courteous and helpful. The pub is tidy without being spectacular and was just enough to satisfy your pangs of hunger. Next, off to the fish stall in the market for the cockles and and bread. He loved them, every mouthful. Food mediocre, used to be better, has the chef or recipes changed?? My main issue with this Wetherspoons is one specific lady who I have never had a good experience with. I am assuming she is the manager as she was wearing her own clothes, I have seen her wearing a flowery blouse on several occasions. When I say that I have never had a good experience, I mean it. She has always come across rude, patronising and arrogant. On one occasion I could actually hear her shouting at someone from inside the kitchen. This is no way to treat staff or customers!?!?!?!??!!! Other staff are lovely, have been told by staff member that the name of this woman is Stephanie, or Steph. All I can ask is that she improves her attitude and is retrained in her management skills as her service is appalling, as is the way she treats her own staff!! A separate occasion, I asked for more cutlery and actually heard her swearing under her breath as she walked away. No way to behave in customer service. I was shocked and disappointed. Disgusting. Whilst I would love to mention a positive experience with her, I simply cannot. It has put me and my friends and family off going which is a shame as we were longstanding regulars. I know for a fact it is not just me that has been upset by Stephanie’s behaviour and she is actually putting off many people who go there! Was not a fan of the other male manager but since I have not seen him since last year, I can leave that. Please retrain her in customer service skills and etiquette!!!

Such a mixed up night for this place. We have been in many Wetherspoons throughout the UK, usually no reason to complain. But the York Palace in Llanelli... Wow... Food orders short... Wrong items sent.... Items missing... And drink orders... another Wow.... Missing drinks... Single sent as doubles... Staff backing each other claiming Oh yes just checked Video she poured a double... OMG WILL NOT BE BACK TO THIS Wetherspoons.... HEY TIM THIS ONE NEXT... (wink wink cheers mate... Allun)

Usually Eggs Benedict is a pretty standard dish in a Wetherspoons. It’s not the first time it hasn’t been good. So on the 16th September, the egg yolks were rock hard, muffin barely toasted, ham freezing cold and no rocket. It was just passable but nothing like you get in other Wetherspoons. Perhaps the normal kitchen staff were away and it was agency. It’s not hard to get right.

The great atmosphere , delicious food and the excellent customer services. we will definitely eat here again soon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED xx

This is our go to pub when we’re shopping without our car in Llanelli. You know that the food is cheap and cheerful in all Wetherspoons and this is no different. The food came piping hot and with a drink included, for under £30 for two, is a great price in this day and age. The staff are excellent here and always attentive, with fantastic customer service skills.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Wetherspoon pubs, could be classed as "Wetherspoon Wanderers". We decided to call at The York Palace for food (Friday 7th July 2023)and I thought I must leave a review of our experience as there tends to be a trend to only leaving a review when you receive a bad meal/service. The York Palace, yes, could do with a bit of a refit, but as far as service and food are concerned it was excellent. It was quite busy when we arrived around 5.30pm, bar staff were quick serving us and food was delivered promptly, hot, and extremely tasty. Thank you York Palace and Staff for a lovely night.

After years of calling to our local spoons, we have taken the decision to only call for drinks in the future, no food! We had always found the York Palace a spoons to get value for money, that certainly has changed!! In the past we would regularly call in for breakfast. Now at £2.99 for a standard, you would think that value for money, alas I am sorry to say the meal always tends to be luke warm. I can't eat eggs but always get a swap in leiu. The final decision being made for me one morning recently, the beans were cold, direct from a tin? with no heat applied. I mentioned it to staff he shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. Well that was my last breakfast there. Then a couple of nights later I went and ordered, two, 10oz gammon meals, I can't eat eggs, so I asked if I could have a couple/three onion rings as a swap, something I have exchanged many, many times in the past, with no problem. However, on this occasion I was told no, I added I had in the past, the male member of staff said he would check (same staff member that shrugged his shoulders). He returned to tell me no, that 3 onion rings were not a "fair swap" for two eggs!!! I suggested, throw some extra chips on then. Well our meals arrived i had the meat and very few luke warm chips to accompany the meat. My wife's meal was very similar in size re luke warm chips, but she had the two eggs. Once again, that was a deciding factor the the value for money meal has disappeared from our local spoons. We had experienced problems on curry nights recently also. We still call in spoons for drink or two but not head off the the local HH for a meal, where a 15oz gammon is certainly v for money, and always a hot meal is served. You need to readdress what is being served and see that it does represent value for money, price, content of food and warmth wise.

The York Palace (Wetherspoons) has been my new local since I moved back to the Carmarthenshire area in January. The "A Team" were on today! Steph and Julie. Both of them are so cheerful every time I have visited and today they were both on shift together. I can honestly say it makes all the difference when you have staff like this working together and you could tell by the general atmosphere. It was a cheerful place to be in, despite it being a grey Sunday afternoon. Give these two a pay rise Wetherspoons! If you are in the area, I can highly recommend The York Palace whether you want a few drinks, lunch or coffee. They cater for all. Most of the staff here are always super friendly and helpful, but if you are in when these two are, you've hit the jackpot!

We can here quite regular at various times of the day, week. Well last Thursday curry night, I ordered a starter of 4 poppadoms and dips on the app, paid my £1.61. The starter arrived, with only 2 poppadoms. The server, explained there were no dips, out of stock!!! I explained, indicated from the menu that there should be 4 poppadoms, he returned with the further two. So I ended up paying £1.61 for four poppadoms, when I could have had them for 86p, had I just ordered the poppadoms!!!! Not the first time stock is out if stock. Hopefully better luck next time.

The bar staff (Michael [Jones Jr] Jones) was extremely well helpful, and dashing. Perfect amount of ice to water ratio, was extremely refreshing. Now back to the important part, Michael (Jones [Jr] Jones) was very well kept, he was dressed well in great fitting attire and was an amazing face for the company 11/10 would return, 3/5 overall.

We called in for a few drinks with intention of staying for a meal. Alas we, along with many other customers left our coats on, due to it being cold there. We were sat by one of the windows and I certainly was worse there. Please pop the air con off, or put it on to warm the place up.

Best pub in Llanelli! Been few times and always impressed by the staff and the food. The two ladies working today were very welcoming. Great breakfast!

This is a great Weatherspoon pub, in an old theatre. The atmosphere is great and the service is excellent. The food is standard Weatherspoon. The portions have become smaller and the prices have risen recently.

Wonderful food and a great pint of Guinness. A lovely welcome from the bar lady Julie especially with the wet weather. I really liked the food at chef!

The food and drink, service, app and COVID rules were very good. We particularly liked the amazing decor of this former cinema. We came here mostly every day of our week's stay in Lanelli.

There is a strong odour of vomit permeating this place, which - accompanied by the elderly men downing pints at eight o’clock in the morning - made it particularly unpleasant an experience. Feel sorry for the poor staff who do their best to be helpful...

Came here for a lunch with a friend , had the ultimate burger , fair play it was lovely and for 6.75 including a drink you can’t go wrong , good portion for an amazing price . Love that you can order and pay on the app , will be returning in the future :)

In my opinion, you can't beat Wetherspoons and this place tries hard. The staff in this pub work very hard and are always cleaning up (unlike my local Wetherspoons). If Tim Martin is reading, the staff here deserve looking after because they are doing their best and giving your establishment a good name!You already know the rest, good value food and drinks. The best place in Llanelli for real ales. The Gents toilets could do with a few bob spending on them, don't know about the ladies!

Very dissatisfied with my visit this evening. I ordered a chocolate brownie which turned up half cooked, half FROZEN! The brownie got sent back to the kitchen to only come out stone cold from waiting around for so long and the ice cream had melted due to it being re-micro-waved instead of a fresh one. I’d highly recommend you not to order a dessert here unless the kitchen staff go on a training course and learn how to defrost desserts properly. -Evening of Tuesday 22nd October.

Popped in to the york palace early Tuesday evening. Ordered four steaks and drinks on the offer, which is an absolute bargain to start. I Wasn't expecting miracles for the price but I must say we were all super impressed with the food, all steaks cooked to perfection and served in under 10 minutes. Fab service from Scarlet who was super friendly and professional, what a credit to the team at the York Palace! Will 100% recommend and look forward to our next visit.

Came by here with my friend, your typical pub food, staff we quite frendly, but he food was standard. Suited what we wanted as we just wanted something. Quick on our way about town. shame the toilets are so far away. Probably will come back hope the food can be a little bit nicer next time. Lovely cocktales.

Called in for the usual Steak night 6/8/19, arrived 5.30pm.

Egotistical manager seemed to have an the attitude when I requested rocket on a pizza (simple request). was tired of having to go through food cooked with a blow-torch, my friend wanted to change entire order, I just thought maybe because there was rocket on it could look more presentable. Paid £2 extra, for what looked like a giant over-cooked pancake. Order was collected and brought back by the manager, who stormed around clearly put out. I commented to my friend of his behaviour in not so many nice words. I couldn't believe him.

Fast efficient service very tasty food and plenty of it excellent value for money and real ales too!

Ordered the ‘freshly battered’ fish which was very nice - crispy and hot. However, the accompanying chips and peas were hardly even warm. There was no time to have them replaced but they should not have been served in the first place. Also, at more than twice the price of a friend’s smaller fish and chips, there was hardly any difference in the portion size ?

Came here during the week with family for breakfast . Had the American breakfast it was lovely couldn’t fault it at all and cheap for such a nice meal . Refillable coffee was a thumbs up for me . Will return

Went for breakfast this morning i asked to have my food hot as it often comes luke warm when the breakfast came to the table it was hot but egg ect was hard the butter had exploaded from the wrapper i asked for drifferent butter the duty manager russ said i had to be more percific

The manger here a kid with full face of makeup what an attitude absolutely shocking anything you ask her for to much trouble they got pumps at bar saying to have a taste on ale before you order one omg so much trouble she's a disgrace not many nice bars to come to myself and husband been coming here for years well deffinatly won't be returning shame on you beaut

Situated in the old cinema. Good menu choice at reasonable prices. Excellent real ale choice. Quick, friendly service. Upstairs seating has views over the park. Great location.

Our favourite Wetherspoons. Food arrived promptly, it was delicious. I had southern fried chicken strips, chips & salad. Partner had Welsh beef and ale pie, chips, peas & gravy. Super.

There is a good selection of meals at very reasonable prices. They also do breakfast and open at 8.00 am. Highly recommended.

I travel a lot with work and recreationally and always try to visit a Wetherspoons. I couldn’t have been more disappointed with The York Palace - it may have been a Sunday but the staff were less than interested, the manager was not someone I would employ in my company and no one was the least bit concerned that 3 of the items on the menu were out of stock. I and my company would not last very long if we had this approach to customers. No real damage done as I had a couple of pints and went to a local Chinese restaurant safe in the knowledge that the next Wetherspoons that I visit will be up to standard.

I have been going to this pub for years and I've got to say every time I go there the staff are brilliant.not once have I had rude staff member.always polite helpful and cheerfull.a credit to your company.

Went to Wetherspoons with a couple of my friends last night, straight away as we entered the building, confronted by two doormen who are so inadequate to do their job correctly and then a manager who is absolutely clueless at what his actual job is, bar staff are usually good but on this occasion, disgusting customer service, about 15 of us had 1 drink and left.

Arrived with friends for food and drink. Greeted within 3 mins at the bar and very polite staff. Ordered food and it came with a free drink. Food was hot and really nice. The duty manager came and asked if everything was alright with the food.

My 19 year old daughter and 3 friends went for her birthday. She ordered 2 jugs of alcohol and the manager told her her friends couldn't drink it because they had no ID, she said ok well I can't drink them myself but the manager made them and made her pay for them, then proceeded to take them off her when she took them back to the table saying the other people weren't allowed to drink them. Fair enough but why charge her and then take them away when they knew the majority of the table were underage, £12 of my hard earned money that i gave her for her birthday wasted. Your customer service is dreadful.

Visited this Wetherspoons for breakfasts during a recent visit to the Llanelli/Swansea areas. The pub is a converted cinema, if somewhat small by such standards, only having a smallish floor area around a large bar that fills the centre of the pub, plus a small gallery seating area upstairs. Some of the staff were very efficient, others less so, depending what day/time we went in, but our food was up to the usual standards of Wetherspoons and reasonably priced. Not sure what it's evening clientele is like as we only went in for breakfast, but we were surprised at how many people were in there at 8.30am in the morning downing pints of beer, some of them in quite an aggressive mood too. That's too early for me to be thinking of indulging in such enterprises. Wetherspoons give a good quality, reasonably priced food/drink service but the very fact of it's cheap prices obviously encourages those who can't make it through the day without alcoholic sustenance. If in the area again we would definitely visit for breakfast/lunch.

Gave it a try for a very late dinner the one night and returned the next evening for a repeat of the same meal because it was so good. Helpful and friendly staff, good food, generous portions of food, good value for money. Will definitely visit again.

Very helpful staff, happy to arrange small parties or provide food suitable for those with intolerances without making a fuss. Food always arrives hot, with a great range of free drinks with most meals. Very relaxing, recommended .

Visited for dinner whilst on holiday with my son. Everything was so good we came back for dinner again a few days later. Food was normal Wetherspoons excellent value, very tasty. Staff were very friendly. But whilst visiting, take time to admire the beautiful interior. Strongly recommended.

I have been drinking at the York since it opened years ago. We have had three st bernards in this time and they have sat outside being made a fuss of by nearly all the customers and staff. albert is two years old and a big baby, and today my son and I came in for a few drinks. The duty manager. refused and said we had to leave as dogs are not allowed outside the York. Funny how from day one it was ok ??.WHY NOW !!.

i normaly say this is i great place,but unfortunately my and friends experiences of late leave a lot to desire escpeciaiiy hygiene.

We went here for breakfast whilst staying in the area. Weatherspoons breakfasts are great, they serve them till 12noon, which is great unlike other fast food restaurants. They are of great value. We also like how they take old buildings and use them for their bars, whilst keeping many of the old features. The only draw back was that the free refills of tea and coffee were downstairs, but then this was out fault for choosing to sit upstairs.

First time ever being in this weatherspoons and I can assure you me and my fiancé will be back again it has a fantastic atmosphere everyone has a fantastic attitude cannot express how happy we are at the service tonight. Had a steak medium rare with mash cooked to perfection and also a cheese burger it was great. My fiancé had a chocolate fudge cake and he is amazed at it he cannot believe how amazing it is. Will definitely be back here again

Since my last review, we have been for three steak nights and two curry nights.

Weatherspoons have done it again - great venue of a converted cinema; fab food considering how busy they were and warm welcoming staff with Russ leading with superb service. A real credit to the brand - well done Russ!!

A JD Wetherspoons with the usual 'national' menu. But the managers specials which appear on occasion highlighted the gammon and egg and chips at a cracking price of £4.99. Two pints of reduced price Monday night real ale allowed a terrific apple crumble with ice cream all for under £13. The service in particular was excellent - since i was watching football and trying to work with a laptop it was tricky to get to the bar - no problem the staff brought my order to the table. Thanks to the staff.

Ate here 4 times over a few days and found the staff friendly and efficient and the beers, several of them local to Wales, well kept and the usual low price. Nice addition for a non Welshman are local dishes like cawl. Lovely if a little faded interior, the usual Spoons formula involving preserving an old building, in this case a cinema. Staff dealt quickly and efficiently with a group of over refreshed regulars

Called for an early meal on saterday night.food was served promptly by staff with smiles.an apology for the wait........., 10 minutes. Food was good and prices amazing. Will deffo call again

What an entrance. Walking up the stairs into the bar made me feel like I was in an old black and white movie; totally glamorous! Its great that so many of the original features of the building have been kept.

Afraid to say steak night has changed in my opinion.

i have bee in here a few times but havent eaten often, if you've read any of my reviews you will now that i have reviewed a few wetherspoons pubs but i have to be fair had the fish and chips a couple of weeks back and thinking it would be warm at best as like most spoons i burnt the roof of my mouth the fish was boiling hot and the chips were hot also and i have to say it was the best meal i have ever had in any spoons i have been to
