The food tasted delicious and the service was second was so lovely and friendly. Could not recommend the Goose & Cuckoo more easy 11/10!

Great warm welcome on arrival, lovely service and a truly beautiful meal. Dessert was spectacular too, I barely had room but so glad I had some - highly recommend the lemon roulade! The place is cosy and welcoming,and catered beautifully for a dairy free customer. See you again soon!

After doing the nearby red kite feeding station, we weren’t hopeful of finding anywhere out in the sticks that would be serving food at 3pm on a Friday in the winter so we were relieved to come across the Goose and Cuckoo. The food was absolutely sensational and the homemade chips were hands-down the best I’d ever had (I’ve tried A LOT!). The staff were so lovely and even the chef came out for a chat with us. Incredible value for incredible food. Highly, highly recommend and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area! Thanks so much x

Called again and had a bar meal on my birthday with family . Although very busy with a large group of young farmers waiting to catch a bus , we were served promptly by Angharda and our meals were delicious and delivered without delay

Weve just moved into the village and were keen to try out the locals. My test of any good welsh pub grub is faggots... and these were just perfect. Beautifully cooked and served with buttery mash and deep, thick tasty gravy... the perfect dish on a blowy wet autumn evening. We also had the chicken curry and home made lasagna.. both very nice and well worth the trip out. The beer is also very good... which is just the cherry on the cake. We will definitely be coming back.. (many times)

The pub is under new management and although Neil and Anghard had only been open about 10 days , We had a lovely Sunday lunch - food was good , service good and friendly . The Pub was busy and all agreed that they had enjoyed themselves . will be returning again

Visited the Goose and Cookoo today for Sunday lunch and was very impressed. Food was delicious and service was fantastic! Sunday lunch was served with all the trimming! My husband and his friend enjoyed the local beer on offer as well. If we lived in the area we would definitely be back.

we were on holiday camping at Llangadog for 2 weeks so on our first night we went to the village to check out the pubs etc. Although it was the Red Lion that was mentioned to us by the campsite owners as a drinking pub, when we walked past, loud music was bellowing out and so my husband and I decided to go to the Goose & Cuckoo instead which had not been mentioned to us. Our only concern was the 3 star hygiene rating on the window - but we thought a drink wouldn't harm us! Luke, the owner and manager could not have been more welcoming and friendly. The service was impeccable! We decided to have some cheesy chips - and they were proper hand cut chips, skin on, and really delicious and so obviously home cooked rather than just oven chips that you get so often in pubs. In that moment all our worries about their food rating of 3 disappeared! We ended up spending quite a few evenings as well as Sunday lunch at the pub, chatting and drinking with the locals and bar staff - all of whom were just so friendly. We also had three full meals at the pub whilst there and all were absolutely superb. All fresh, beautifully presented and just delicious and some really different things on the menu too: cockles, cheese & walnut pate, salmon in a honey & plum sauce, just perfect! The desserts were to die for too! Could not fault this pub and the owner Luke, who goes above and beyond as do all his staff. Would not hesitate to recommend this place and we will definitely revisit if ever we are lucky enough to be back in the area. We wish Luke well and can't wait to see a 5 star hygiene rating which he and the chef are so deserving of. Only back a day and already missing the place, the food and the people!

We've been here several times when visiting the area, and it never disappoints. The staff are friendly and exceptionally helpful and the food is marvellous (I don't think I've ever used that word in a review before). We came here for a lovely Valentine's meal in February - and then returned the next day to have a drink in the bar. The bar is a lovely, friendly bar with a good range of drinks to choose from - we got chatting to a really lovely local fella, who we caught up with again when we returned in March. As I said, we returned in March for my husbands birthday. Again it was a delicious meal and the following night we enjoyed a bar meal, with our dogs joining us (the bar is dog friendly). We really like this place and wish we lived closer - we'd be regulars for sure! Hope to be back in June.

We were on holiday just over the road from this lovely pub which luckily for us reopened it's doors yesterday. The staff were friendly and very welcoming and the food was delicious. The steak was mouthwatering and the steamed syrup pudding the best. Highly recommend the Goose and Cuckoo. Thank you.

Really enjoyed good food here, piping hot, great portions and homemade. The four stars, however, reflect that there's room for improvements ... The white wine was served at room temperature :o( Their website promises of locally sourced foods but very little 'Welshness' is on the menu, no lamb! They also advertise a daily special however, there wasn't one :o( They would benefit by having one menu, instead of three pieces of paper and a black board for the daily specials (if they are indeed going to do them). The place could do with a bit of spit and polish too.

What a splendid atmosphere beer was good food was exceptional would recommend anyone in the area to visit this establishment, staff were amazing friendly and helpful that good going back fo Sunday Lunch tomorrow

Visited twice this week once with friends and then a works Christmas outing, on both occasions the food was lovely, the atmosphere was relaxed and the staff were very accommodating, especially the young girl with glasses ( sorry I didnt get your name ) on both occasions she was incredibly sweet and so well mannered. Will be back very soon, what a gem of a place.

This is the first time i have been for a meal in this pub, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The menu was new and all ok however the starting platter for 2 had 3 of everything? Should be four or 2. but it was pleasant.Nice food.

We stayed in the village for a mid-week and were recommended to have dinner at the Goose & Cuckoo. The food was surprisingly good for such a small-village pub, with excellent service to match. Would go back.

Called in for lunch and was greeted by very pleasant young lady who was very eager to make your lunch a pleasant experience. The menu and specials board offered a broad but unexciting standard choice of dishes. However the dishes served were acceptable, filled the eyes and tasted ok. I think the evening service would give this pub a little more atmosphere when the locals are out for the night! Total cost for two people, including coffee and drinks £50.

As a family of 12, we came for a meal at the goose and cuckoo and everything was exactly how we wanted. The food was great and the service was excellent. I had the gammon and it was the best gammon I have had in a long time! I also stayed the night with my partner and the rooms were very clean and tidy!

Lovely meal. Burger was slightly over cooked for my taste. Didn't like the cheese sauce as it was blue cheese. Good service.

We were staying at the nearby Barons Court Caravan Club CL site. So a very pleasant walk into the heart of village brings you to the restaurant. The meal was excellent ( we have already been their twice before on previous visits) and we had the oven roasted salmon served with sauté potatoes and veg. It was so good that I finished the meal with a very good espresso coffee and a double Welsh malt.If you are visiting Llangadog or even passing through then drop in for an excellent meal. We will be back in October when we next visit Wales.

Really enjoyed a supper here last week with two fishing pals. It’s no frills, simple menu but plenty of choice. Welcoming owner and and lovely staff. I enjoyed the best sirloin steak I have had in ages, my pals had different dishes but we all enjoyed good simple food cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. Don’t be put off by exterior, that needs cheering up a bit. Can thoroughly recommend.

i tried to book a friday night could not full booked book for saturday night for 6.30 iit was almost empty worth checking fist the food was good one fault was we order a bottle of white wine which came in a wine cooler to keep it cold bit it wasnt cold to begin with so it was warm

Great food. Great atmosphere at the goose and cuckoo. Charlie and the team kindly let me organise a charity night to raise money for cancer research. They helped out so much and donated towards the event. Couldn’t thank them enough!!

Called in an route elsewhere. Menu large enough to be enticing but not so long that you thought everything must be bought in. Had lovely haddock fishcakes with homemade chunky tartare sauce. Chose new potatoes with it. Perfect poached egg on top. Very good indeed. Lovely staff, pleasant environment.

We stopped here for lunch on our drive through Wales. We had a delicious lunch with friendly service. Highly recommend the Welsh beef! A free pint for Father’s Day was appreciated.

A village pub that serves good pub food. The local trout was very tasty along with the Drovers Pie with the meat cooked in beer. Good service, reasonable prices and the food served traditionally rather than what you see in the pics.

We stayed in the locality of the Goose & Cuckoo as part of a large family gathering. Charles and his staff provided the catering for the weekend, from a buffet on the Saturday evening to cooking a BBQ on the Sunday for our large party.

We used the Goose and Cuckoo for catering for a family party. Charles, the owner was brilliant and went a long way to make it a special occasion. The food was amazing and plentiful and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely helped make it an amazing weekend!

We visit this area of Wales every year for the past 4 years or so and every time we make sure we have lunch or dinner here on the Sunday. Every meal we’ve had here has been lovely, the staff very friendly and attentive. We usually have the Sunday roast during the early afternoon but this year we were out so decided to try the evening menu. There were plenty of specials on offer as well as their regular menu. Never had a bad meal here and considering our visits span a few years the quality has always been the same.

Under its original proprietor,Luke, this place had a considerable reputation especially for Sunday lunch.I am still hopeful that Luke might return.In the mean time, there seems to have been several incarnations of proprietors and they suffer by comparison. The meal here was reasonable but there were several niggles: firstly a rather flustered welcome ( or lack of it,) a rather slow and uncoordinated staff ( although in fairness they were polite.) The menu was rather spartan with only two choices of joints and an "ask about it" vegetarian option. The starters and deserts were nice and there was a good choice of vegetables but the beef and lamb cuts were ok but not the first class versions sourced from the very good local butcher which use to make this place very worth while.Luke knew his regulars and danced attention to their needs. This place has become rather shambolic and considering the local competition from other excellent providers of Sunday lunches, needs to lift its game.

We had no idea what to expect in this bar/restaurant. Very kind service and a cosy restaurant. Enough choice from the regular menu and special items. Very good quality meat amd well prepared. Good service. Also very good tasting desserts. An unexpected surprise all this. Young people work very hard and they will make it!

Walked in without booking. The place was deserted. Sat in the lovely garden and ordered Sunday lunch. Waitress service was excellent. The starters and mains were really nice. The dessert however was a little disappointing. I ordered sticky toffee pudding and was served a pre made syrup sponge. Come on guys raise your game. Starter & main were outstanding. Will definitely be back, but may give the pudding a miss.

We were staying at a local campsite and had a couple of meals here. Great little pub serving very good food. We had lunch one day then came back for the Sunday roast which was very good. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We will make a point of returning next time we’re in the area.

Probably the best entertainment we have found for our 18 month, 6 month old daughters and the grown up menu choices are outstanding. Very clean, tastefully decorated and the staff are extremely professional. Very customer focussed. We will be returning!!

We were staying here overnight (the rooms come highly recommended!) and decided to have our meal here as well. Since we took our dog downstairs with us, we were initially asked to take a table in the bar area, but since it was quite noisy...

Lovely staff, Charles and co provide a marvellous venue and service. Food looks good and taste good, often with local specialities on the night. Not a Gastro pub but far more homely and worthwhile :-) Friends down from London couldn’t believe the friendliness and genuine commitment from all staff.

My hubby and I took a drive out today, with no real plans where to eat. We got to Llandovery so I decided to use trip advisor to find somewhere local for food and The Goose & Cuckoo turned up - I was tempted by photographs of the beef pie.

Very nice room with super fast broadband which i wish I had at home. Bed was very comfortable and nice a quiet my dog came to and she loved it. I had dinner which was excellent I had squid which was very tasty followed by Welsh Drovers pie and still managed to sneak in a creme brulee which toped of the evening nicely. If you go here keep it a secret I will be back as there is great walking near by.

On 19th November we booked Sunday lunch for 9 people in celebration of an 80th birthday. The surroundings were very pleasant and we received a warm welcome. We all enjoyed the meal very much- the food was hot and plenty of it. There are probably cheaper places where you could have Sunday lunch but we enjoyed the quality of the food and will definitely return if we're in that area.

My husband and I visited the Goose and Cuckoo on a Friday night in October and we had a fantastic time. The food was good, my husband had the prawns to start which he enjoyed and I had the antipasto board which was delicious, especially the cured meats. For mains we had the steak and the chicken, both were lovely and very generous portions for the price, if I was visiting again I would request the steak to come on a plate instead of a hot skillet as it carried on cooking the steak a tad too much. The wine was fabulous, we had a lovely glass of SB and a Shiraz both for not much more than a fiver!! The service was impeccable, we had two lovely girls serving us on the floor and a girl behind the bar who helped with our wine selection and was incredibly attentive. We would definitely visit again, even just for a glass of wine and the antipasto board if we didn't want to splash out on a meal! Highly recommend.

Had a great meal at this friendly pub in the middle of Llangadog on Saturday 16th September. Loved the menu and thought the service was excellent. I had the best steak I've had in a very long time.

Our second visit this year and once more fantastic food, excellent service despite being very busy there and lots of pre-bookings. Overly generous portions, beat us again.

I took my daughter here for her birthday and I ordered the Salmon, which was dry and overcooked, could have made it much better myself! Very disappointing! My daughter had the spaghetti carbonara which she said the ham was gristly. Very expensive as well for what you get, definitely won't be coming here again! Wish we had gone somewhere else instead now. However, the waitress was very friendly and helpful.

Have eaten here a couple of times in the last few weeks. The food is excellent quality, very tasty, reasonably priced and great choice. Nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be back next time we are anywhere near Llangadog.

I recently went for dinner here when visiting family and found it excellent. We were a fairly mixed group which included children and a gluten free diabetic, and couldn't have received more help from their cheerful and knowledgeable staff. One or two of us had very good fish off the specials board, and I would recommend this (I had the cod fillet) as it was prepared in such a way that the delicious topping did not detract from the flavour of the fish. Everyone seemed pleased with their main courses and those of us who had puddings were delighted at the interesting choices they had to offer. I shall hope to go there again when I next visit Wales!

We made a very good choice when we ate here at the weekend. The ambience was excellent and service prompt and friendly. The food was plentiful and very tasty. Only disappointment was that their own made flavoured ice creams had sold out! Recommend.

After a late afternoon ramble by the river we spontaneously decided to check in for supper. We were helped by our caravan neighbours' report of an excellent meal they had eaten when we bumped into them in the village. The service was prompt and maintained an excellent standard throughout the meal even though we were in the garden. Food was good with generous portions. My choice of the curry special was not quite to the same standard as my wife's choice of Drovers Pie - a lovely rich filling. This is a friendly and welcoming hostelry to which I would return in a blink and recommend highly.

Visited lunchtime and sat out in garden for a lovely lunch I had homemade quiche, side salad and new potatoes- and husband had fish and chips. The food was fresh and tasted delicious. Friendly and welcoming. Two local real ales, extensive menu, best pie and mash I've had for years. The rice pudding was gorgeous and beautifully presented. The staff couldn't have been more helpful.

We recently visited the establishment for a family get together. We were made to feel welcome by all the staff. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The portions were generous and food was prompt. We were very impressed by the decor and the paintings on the walls were stunningly beautiful. The garden was well presented and looked after.The pond with the fish was lovely. We will definately call again and highly reccomend.

Very pleasant lunch from limited lunchtime menu, evening menu also available each night offering greater choice. New owners running this establishment since January 2017. It is obvious that they are on the learning curve, but are offering good quality food at reasonable prices. I wish them all the best for their new venture, but please don't serve frozen butter with the bread/biscuits !! (my pet hate) Total bill for two was £52 including drinks and coffee.

Went on a Sunday night after having read good reviews about a large range of veggie options On the main menu the only option was a pasta dish. When the waitress came to take our order I checked with her only to be informed they were bringing out a veggie menu and could offer me three veggie dishes and one vegan dish and a curry made with quornMy partner and I ended up having fish and chips which was ok. It came with salad and mushy peas and also a dish of veg. Sadly none of the plates were warm so the food went cold quicklyOur meal was ok but nothing special

Have attended regularly for 3 years and were aware the manager had gone on a break. The meals we used to have were again ordered but the curry didn't have a chutney tray with the poppadoms and portion slightly smaller. My beloved Lemon drizzle cheesecake was delivered to my table but alas was half the size. Sad face. Still an excellent establishment just a few niggles. Still good service too.

Went with 11 other friends for a birthday celebration. Staff friendly, kind, attentive and cheery. Food inexpensive but still good. Three! vegetarian mains to choose from, rare in these parts - luxury! Plus a good range for the omnivores. A couple of the puds went a bit awry but staff so kind and generous about putting it right. We all had a great evening. Am thinking of having my own birthday celebration there as a result. Thanks!

We were recommended this hotel at short notice when we had to visit the area,it lived up to what was recommended. Everyone was friendly and the food and drinks were excellent. A fantastic room overall excellent we have booked to stop again. Excellent value for money. A nice bar with a good atmosphere.This hotel is better than some 5* hotels we have stopped in.

My Wife and I called in here on New Years Eve for some Lunch and loved it. The Food was absolutely delicious, everything was cooked to perfection and oozed flavour, probably the best food we've eaten in a good while and we eat out a lot !We were made to feel very welcome by the Staff and sampled a few Pints of Beer made in Llandeilo, I cant remember the name of it but it's well worth trying it. They also display some beautiful paintings by a Local Artist on the walls of the Pub which are really nice to look at, all in all, a fabulous place, we liked it so much we've reserved a table for 8 for Sunday Lunch, I'm sure our friends and family will love it as much as we do. Try it....You wont regret it :)

I guess when eating out it's that combination of good food, price, ambience and staff.For a little pub in a smallish village this place had all four - well done!Staff especially - helpful, cheerful, pleasant - it makes or breaks an evening, and the staff at the goose and cuckoo made it.Food was good and we were especially impressed with the quantity of the side vedge.All in all a reasonably priced place that I would certainly re-visit and recommend.

Nice little pub with an amazing menu. The food was delicious! Friendly and attentive staff with good service. The restaurant is a little cold and draughty in winter so bring a light jacket or something to wear. Otherwise would highly recommend.

I had a great evening meal and a couple of pints of CWRW, the first beer I've had with no vowels in it! Food was good, the bar was quite quiet but the restaurant was busy. Service was good and the food was excellent.

The pub & beer garden are pleasant but the food is not the best quality or value for money.We had Kofta Kebab starter which was extremely soft in consistency but otherwise ok.I would suggest sourcing an alternative Kebab from your supplierThe main course was very disappointing unfortunately...The Sirloin Steak was perfectly fine if somewhat costly at £18The Chips were extremely overcooked & inedibleThe Mushrooms were cooked in the deep fat fryer and resulted in a wrinkly appearance (direct result of deep frying mushrooms at too hot a temperature without a protective breadcrumb coating)The addition of Parsnips & Carrots was an odd accompaniment choice by the premises for a SteakGarden Peas & Grilled Tomato was fineI fully appreciate that a business has to buy or produce cheap & sell to the consumer at a percentage profit margin but maybe the quality of the end result could be addressed without a detrimental effect to the profit margin?I suggest sourcing a more effective range of high turnover produce from the premises suppliers which would vastly improve the end result

Took our Aussie pals here for dinner and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Service from start to finish excellent and food good. Luke and his team always give that personal touch that makes you want to return. Raspberry Marshmallow pie was excellent. Thank you

Once again we were not disappointed by our lunchtime visit. We were greeted and seated by a lovely lady who made us feel at home within minutes. An excellent specials board as well as the main menu was available for us to choose from, all choices looked interesting and well balanced. We dined well and enjoyed every morsel! We shall return for another feast. Although the restaurant got rather busy the food and drinks were served without delay and all diners looked very happy. The total cost for two was £54 including sweets,drinks and fresh coffee --good value all round. Well done

My wife and I visited for a meal at the end of our annual trip with Capeli Shiloh and Soar Chapels, Llanbedr Pont Steffan / Lampeter. We were in a party of 42 and had a very enjoyable evening of socialising over a delicious buffet in the very comfortable surroundings offered by the Goose and Cuckoo. The freshly prepared hot and cold buffet was delicious and offered a selection of dishes including meats, cheeses, potatoes, salads and dressings. I had a mouthwatering apple crumble with custard for dessert followed by coffee to end a faultless meal. My wife also enjoyed the buffet and also the gluten and wheat free Eton mess she had for dessert, We were served by welcoming and friendly staff who gave us a very efficient service and always with a smile! Diolch yn fawr / thank you to all the team at the Goose and Cuckoo for a lovely end to a memorable day.

Went for an evening meal with the family. We had the pie and no.1 son had the Korma. The pie was lush and came with buckets of veg, and the Korma was exceedingly rich.They do a mean pint of Gower Power real ale, too!

A lovely meal for three as it was my Husband's birthday today 9th July. Our starters and mains were delicious, hot and plenty of vegetables. The sirloin steak was cooked exactly how I like it with lots of veg and potatoes (instead of chips) and a tasty pepper sauce. The madras curry was very tasty and half and half the chips were excellent. Ham, egg and chips for the third member was a lighter but very tasty meal. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Warm welcome always assured here. When family visit this is our first choice. Lovely wholesome food well cooked and large portions. The men in our family tend to manage 3 courses,whereas the ladies always opt for a lovely pud to round off. Never had a bad meal here. Good value

Dined midweek for the first time and it certainly lived up to its reputation.I had the duck which was good and my wife, the best sea bass she had tasted.Served by smiling attentive staff and accompanied by some excellent real ale , what more could you ask for. Whilst the decor is a bit 1970s , the whole place has a homely feel and is somewhere we will return to.

9 of us chose this venue for our post-walk refreshments and meal. Staff were very welcoming and had a table prepared for us. We were nearly half an hour late, but there was no issue with that. Most of us chose our meal from the daily specials blackboard. I had the sea bass fillets which was excellent. Generous portions of vegetables in side serving bowls were provided. Staff was attentive and at hand to replenish drinks without delay. Will use again

We visit The Goose & Cuckoo for Sunday Lunch whenever there is a family get-together. The staff are extremely kind, accomodating and patient and the food is always fantastic - with an excellent choice and generous portions. It is excellent value for money - a beautiful building and a friendly atmosphere. Would recommend to everyone!

5 star service with 5 star people,stayed 2 nights ,with 3 friends,the accommodation is clean quaint, and service second to noneEveryone is like family ,food of the highest standard all freshly cookedThe breakfast is the highlight of the day ,with such a wide choice from eggs in everyform ,haddock ,bacon must have,this is one of the best little hotels with the biggest of welcomes.This is the 4th trip we have made,and each time is like the first .It is ,whilst quite remote ,love it,, in such an ideal spot for Llandeilo ,Llandovery,Swansea,in fact it's perfect,for everyone,and everywhere,and Luke,his staff ,his customers,made us feel ,have we done the right thing by leaving, for,it really did feel like home,DIOLCH,indeed DIOLCH Luke
