York Station is a true gem, blending incredible history with modern convenience. The moment you arrive, you're struck by the stunning architecture – a beautiful reminder of the station's rich heritage. The sweeping arches and intricate design details are simply breathtaking and make waiting for your train a pleasure. The staff at York Station are equally impressive. They are consistently friendly, helpful, and genuinely eager to assist, which adds to the overall positive experience. Whether you're a local commuter or a visitor, York Station offers more than just a transit point – it's a step back in time with service that makes you feel truly welcome. Highly recommended!

York is a lovely Victorian station with brilliant transport links. But there is always a disgusting mess in the bathroom as if it hasn't been cleaned and there is no way to get in contact with customer services, the phone number only goes to a main LNER switchboard. It's as you would expect a train station to be, but you shouldn't expect any more than the basics. Alt: the photo shows a blocked sink with mould on the surrounds.

There is actually left luggage storage at the station near the long stay car park. 2 people in our party asked for help with tickets and on both occasions were sold the tickets for almost double the price they could be found on train line , there are some lovely LNER staff but not at York help or information desk

Unmissable city. Beautiful places to visit, such as the gardens of the old abbey, the castle tower, Yorkminster, the city wall and other tourist attractions. I visited twice and it wasn't enough to see everything. I suggest a three-day stay with time to take tours with guides telling you the history of the city. Also unmissable is the street where they smoked a scene from Harry Potter and the best Fudge in the city

Nice enough station but the fares charged from here are utterly criminal. A day return to Leeds is £17.50. The national living wage is £11.44. It's not right or fair to ask people to sacrifice an hour and a half's wages each day for the privilege of getting to work, especially since the train's going anyway with or without them.

York Railway Station is a key transportation hub located in York, England, and serves as one of the principal stations on the British railway network. Opened in 1877, the station is renowned for its stunning Victorian architecture, featuring a long, curved train shed. It’s considered one of the most beautiful railway stations in the UK and is a Grade II* listed building, reflecting its historical and architectural significance. The station is strategically situated on the East Coast Main Line, approximately halfway between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley, making it an essential stop for numerous long-distance services. It provides direct connections to major cities across the UK, including London, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Birmingham, among others.

Beautiful historic station! Easy to navigate within and walkable from the city centre. The facilities are well looked after with toilets available on both sides that seem to be well cared for any time I've been there. There are also lots of options for food and drink takeaways, to make any journey a little bit more comfortable. There are small seating areas sprinkled throughout in case you want a place to rest and wait. If you get a chance (and missed it while in town) stop by the York Gin Distilerry shop right at the entrance! They'll walk you through their process and history, while allowing you unlimited samples. A great last minute souvenir or gift.

York is a beautiful, well looked after station, conveniently located for the city centre. It has plenty of facilities, and regular services to local destinations, as well as long distance services across England and Scotland. The station is always clean and tidy, it is easy to navigate, and there are plenty of friendly staff on hand to help. There is a ticket office available, although it is rather hidden, and would be better positioned where Sainsbury's currently is (where it used to be). There is a huge variety of trains to see, turning the station into a spotters paradise.

I always look forward to a day in York. From York Station, climb up onto the City Walls and head towards York Minster. Climb down to the River Ouse at Lendal Bridge. Here you will Barker Tower and located within The Perky Peacock. Cross the River Ouse on Lendal Bridge, either turn right into Lendal or head to York Minster and turn right. Either way will find oneself in a maze of old streets, easy to get lost. Look out for The Minster Gate Bookshop, an absolute must visit when in York. The Shambles is probably the most famous street. Off The Shambles a market. The street food stalls give a miss. Head to Fossgate, long overdue pedestrianised, and visit Kiosk and The Hairy Fig. Kiosk the best coffee shop in York, The Hairy Fig a deli. York City Council needs to get their act together, pedestrianise Fossgate. It was pedestrianised during lockdown, a great improvement. York City Council need to get their act together, improved signage for York Station. I was shocked by the number of empty shops in York, others closing down. There were fewer people on the streets than previous visits to York. York BID, no benefit to anyone, the BID Levy an additional burden on struggling local businesses.

York's railway station is massive and very historic. It's also convenient for when I visited as it's right next to the National Railway Museum and just a short walk to the city centre. With that said, I was slightly disappointed on my way back to London as the electronic signs showed coach B of my Grand Central train to be at the very back of the train. When it pulled into the platform, I found out that it was instead located at the front which meant I had to walk through the incredibly jam-jacked train from the back to get to my booked seat in coach B at the front. I'm not sure if this is the station's fault or Grand Central's, either way I hope that never occurs again.
