We came for Sunday lunch, I ordered the large which was good value for the £10.95 I paid and I was very full by the end of it. I was a little disappointed with the food, in particular the roast potatoes which were hard and not enjoyable and the overcooked veg. However, can't complain too much because of the price. Service was very slow, took half an hour just to get some drinks but it was very full when we arrived. They do cakeaway and the cakes are delicious. One star removed for service and roasties. Would go back for cake and to try other menu items but would not go back for Sunday Lunch.

Returned today for afternoon tea, and it was wonderful. Fresh, tasty food, generous servings and came very quickly despite being busy. Always a pleasure. Update: another happy visit. Busy, but still rapid service and lovely food. A real credit to the cooks and staff.

Just visited this establishment. Ordered breakfast asked for my black pudding to be given to my husband, asked for smashed well done eggs for myself, husband asked for lightly done bacon! Never happened, no black pudding and husband’s bacon was as well done as mine! Couldn’t eat bacon or eggs! Still expected to pay for something that wasn’t edible. The staff are all young and not attentive enough. Will not be going again!! Do not recommend this place for breakfast.

Went for breakfast a few days ago. We opted for the full English 👍 there were 3 other options even bigger than this one !!! Everything was piping hot, tasty clean and presented perfectly. The waiting staff are very friendly and professional. Definitely going again and also intend to book for Sunday lunch one week. This is one of the best. Breakfasts that we have had in York in the last 30 years.

Called in for breakfast whilst on a trip to york. When we walked in we thought we had found a little gem. At first we were welcomed and our order taken. However things then went down hill. 3 breakfasts ordered all with brown bread toast and an egg on toast. After a long wait 2 breakfasts arrived with the egg on toast. 5 minutes later the 3rd breakfast arrived with white bread not brown, they said they would get brown straight away. On this last breakfast the sausage was undercooked and the egg overcooked and crispy. We had all finished out breakfasts and beans were cold by the time the replacement toast appeared. Very disappointed and needless to say we did not pay for the 3rd breakfast

Nice place, good food & we love the gift shop, but think they were short staffed yesterday? Very busy yesterday, a little cold by the door as no one seems to close it including staff, so we asked if we could move, (there a little estation as the waitress looked for a table for two not near the doors), (although when we looked afterwards there were lots of 4 tables with only two customers seated), & the food was delicious but not as much as normal. Cakes to die for very lush. But those chairs in the cafe are sooo noisy on the tiled floor, they need to put pads on them as it’s put us off going tbh. The Cappocino wasn’t as good as the last time we visited but the berry tea was delicious. The staff that serviced us were lovely but under pressure.

2 stars from us I’m afraid. Ordered a children’s bacon sandwich and it arrived as half a sandwich literally one slice of bread! (did you eat the other half?) 6 year old was hungry an hour later 🙄 Also a bit of a frosty welcome on arrival from the older lady who worked there, the other young lady’s were really friendly! The other thing we were a bit dissatisfied with was that the toilets were outside the building across a then busy car park- not ideal for young children learning to potty. Good children’s play area but didn’t blow the bouncy castle up till 11am despite being open from 9?! Overall this place could make some simple changes to improve customer experience. And maybe a disabled toilet in the cafe building itself as the car park isn’t disabled friendly (gravel) impossible to get a wheelchair across!

Felt like the staff really didn't want to be there. Ordered a fry up and an egg, bacon, sausage sandwich but unfortunately didn't get to try it. Waited nearly an hour for the food before we had to leave, was never checked on to let us know that food was going to be so long and the table that ordered just before us was served within 30 minutes. Was never asked how we wanted our eggs and not offered any alternative options when we asked if there was BBQ sauce (there wasn't). A pot of tea and a latte was £7.45.

Good food at large portions. Staff very helpful and friendly. We booked for a large party, of adults and children, to sit outside so the children could use the play area. However, we felt rather cold outside, so I asked the staff if we could relocate inside. The staff were so helpful and let us move inside. Some of our party arrived late and, again, this was not a problem and all was fine with the staff. Thank you all for a lovely lunch and a good time. Looked on Google for 'Afternoon teas near me' and all that came up was central York, but nothing near to Clifton Moor. So discouraged we just decided to go into the next cafe we passed. This was Willow Farm cafe...and what luck. One of the best afternoon teas we've had and definitely the biggest meal! Sandwiches, wraps and salad/coleslaw and crisps, see my photo. Only thing we missed was dainties, but all the cakes included were very very nice. Everything was fresh and very tasty, plus the staff were all very nice and friendly. We added a milk shake for my son and it last only a couple of minutes it was so more'ish! All of this for under £40 to. Google add Willow Farm to my afternoon tea search! Came back for my son's birthday as it was so good the first time, little concerned that it might disappoint 2nd time round... No Worries, either as good or better, just look at the photos. Well done all at Willow Farm cafe & thankyou!

Went in for lunch Saturday 19th August, waited a few minutes to be seated which was fine. Older waitress with long black hair hardly welcomed me and my partner, a few tables available nearby but got shoved in the corner. Waited a good 10 minutes and no waitress, she (same waitress) went to a table and served a man and woman before us so we decided to leave. We walked past her and she said nothing. Clearly homophobic! Don’t bother going if you’re not straight!!! Shocking.

Really disappointed with the treatment we received at willow farm on Mother’s Day. Originally we tried to book a table but was informed it was walk-ins, only to arrive and be asked why we hadn’t booked. We managed to get a table outside and ordered, after waiting 35 mins for our drinks we asked a member of staff thinking they’d forgot about us however the staff were exceptionally rude and treated us like an inconvenience. Food arrived 2 hours later but all the orders were wrong with the waitress actually dropping the toast and proceeded to put it back on the plate. The service was dismal from start to finish, the cafe was not at capacity with several empty tables so we struggled to understand why the service was so subpar. After our meal we spoke with Donna and mentioned we felt the service we received was less than adequate, however she proceeded to laugh in our faces and inform us we shouldn’t go out on mothers day. Overall it was a very disheartening experience as we did enjoy coming to willow farm, but cannot see ourselves ever returning after this experience. In a cost of living crisis people are much more picky with when and where they choose to eat out and cannot see may people choosing here with this treatment of customers

A lovely place, the food was very good... Once it arrived. We were advised there was around 40 mins wait for food before being seated. We waited around 15 minutes to have our order taken and were asked if we would like our drinks whilst we waited for meals, we took this option and the drinks arrived about 15 minutes later.... After what seemed like an eternity (more than 1 hour) one of the waiting team who had passed us more than 10 times apologised for our delay and said she would check on our order, after a short while another team member said we were due out next.... We got our breakfast at 12:20 after being seated at just after 10:40. The food was very good once it arrived, though after a considerable wait, fresh drinks would have been good too. The place was quite busy, but not at capacity, and I appreciate we visited on mother's Day, but a little more communication would have improved our experience immensely.

York Station is a delightful little train station that perfectly complements the historic city it serves. The station itself is not too large, making it easy to navigate and find your way around. One of the things I love about York Station is its convenience. You can easily hail a cab right outside, and there are several convenient stores inside where you can grab snacks, drinks, or last-minute essentials. Overall, York Station is a charming and well-equipped hub that makes traveling to and from the city a breeze.

We were stopping in York for a couple of nights, and booked this restaurant for dinner and the menu looked great. We were greeted and sat down straight away into a semi-full restaurant. Our drinks order was taken and these arrived swiftly. We opted for the three course set menu (three courses for £25, it's hard to say no to that!). All three courses were amazing, I couldn't criticize it at all. Portion sizes were very generous and food tasted great. Our server was amazing and checked back on us, was friendly and professional, and made for a really pleasant experience. The optional service charge wasn't a problem (I can see someone complained in a previous review) as the staff really deserved every penny - in fact I left them extra too for their outstanding service! 10/10 amazing food, amazing service, will definitely return if back in York and recommend to anyone visiting.
