Went there on Saturday afternoon with family they really enjoyed it good staff will come back well done good atmosphere great music.

The doormen here are clearly angry. Had a group of 12 and we were honest about that. Travelled for over 6 hours to visit York with this pub being the main event! Disappointed to sat the least. The bar was dead to top it off, clearly don't care about the profits.

If you want character from an indie bar, this is the place you want to go. The England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford drank here in 2019 and his slogan is “get the rave on”. If that doesn’t sell the venue, what will? Thanks.

Called in last Saturday afternoon with my better half after spotting it on a previous visit to York, artwork on the walls and ceiling is excellent, Happy Mondays, Oasis, Inspiral Carpets and of course the mighty Stone Roses, mostly Manc bands and being from Manchester myself, almost felt like home

Visited here with my husband last Saturday during a weekend away. One word…Wow!! This place is a must for music lovers, the decoration is amazing. Door staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the guy with the tattooed face, bar staff were also very friendly, and yes we tried the infamous blue drink! Cant wait to visit again

Queueing to enter in the evening. Went instead during the day. Large area in downstairs bar mainly standing just a few stools and high tables. Empty during my visit. Should imagine great atmosphere at night.

Used to love going to this place. Visited with my wife a few weeks back, she went in before me as I had to pop to bank. As I turned up, I was refused entry by the unpleasant door staff, because I was by myself, tried to explain that my wife was inside, they were having none of it. Asked if they could go get my wife, they refused and told me to go on my way. Couple mins later, she's been asked to leave. Absolutely horrendous craic, luckily for us we went further into town and didn't have any other bother getting into the bars.

Advertised to be open until 1am told closing at 1130 after just buying two drinks. Crap service won’t return.

The bouncers are way too intense. Calm down fellas, it's a relatively small bar in York. You're not securing an expensive night club in Ibiza.

This place is absolutely incredible

What a disappointment this once 'Go to' has become. The barman was rude af. He barely looked up, was extremely unpleasant and should definitely not work in hospitality. There was barely anyone in, upstairs was closed off and the Guinness on draft is no more. Such a shame. If I could give a zero for service I would have.

A top bar. Me and a mate came up from Kent just for this bar and it was worth every penny. Great tunes and atmosphere was decent as well. The no standing at the bar policy also makes service much quicker. Would recommend this bar to anyone looking for a top indie night out

Not what I was expecting, a bit of a let down to be honest and wouldn't let one of our group in which ruined it straight away, definitely won't come back 👎

Came for my mates birthday and got turned away at the door because there were too many of us. Never had this issue in the past to very disappointed.

Great choice of drinks at a brilliant price. Such a cool vibe and good crowd throughout the week and feels very safe. The jukebox and photo booth are an amazing touch!!

LOVE STONES the music is always wonderful and it’s a great environment, the bouncers are also really sound and make sure everyone is safe.

Refused entry as I was on my own. Seems a very strange policy or 'licence law' as I was quoted. Gutted as I'm a huge Roses fan and couldn't visit last time I was in York as I was with my family. Just wanted a quick pint or 2 whilst on a work trip and to sample some good music. Some Might Say, I didn't get what I wanted.

I was told you can't come in on your own, I said I've travelled 3 hours and just wanted a quick pint before meeting a group for a meal. Bizzare policy, I'm a middle aged sober man who just wanted to say " I've been there" like I have at various music associated venues.

Refused entry for being in a group (“it’s the same everywhere mate”). All 35-55yo, sensible, and sober. Whatever. Walked two minutes to Kings Arms, cheap beer, sitting in the sun, no problem with groups. Fancy that.

In short: Nobody here Smells of urine Doesn't accept groups of more than 5. What a waste of a space. Should have been a sketchleys dry cleaners or birds bakery. Don't bother.

Came to this bar on Friday for a few drinks for my best friends hen do! We had such a fantastic time we had to come back on Saturday! Fantastic staff and amazing door staff I felt very safe in this bar and the music was amazing! Can’t wait to come back
