YO! Sushi - Highcross Leicester in Leicester

I came here for lunch and ordered a miso soup and prawn katsu curry. The food came quickly but the prawn curry was lukewarm at best. The waiter then decided to dump a tablet on my table in the middle of my meal and ask me to leave feedback on the food. Im happy to do this but i believe it’s a bit rude to when someone’s eating. I told the waiter at the end that the food was cold and he just said sorry and he will tell his manager but he really didnt seem to care. I used to love this place but theres no love to it anymore. It’s gotten more expensive and smaller portions.

It’s so lovely to see the conveyer belts back working with the sushi plates going around. The staff are very helpful and friendly. However the prices have increased a lot meaning it’s a VERY expensive treat.

Been a regular here in my hometown of Leicester and always received super nice food and service. Hadn’t been for a while due to work and recently passed by to be greeted by the same lovely people and faces that always made me feel welcome. For the life of me I can’t remember the managers name but he’s an absolute star. See you soon YO ….. ✌🏾

This is by far the best Yo Sushi I have been to, and I’ve been to a lot. Friendly and welcoming staff, very fast service even with made to order dishes and when they are busy. Consistently good plates of food. We drive out of our way to go to this branch rather than a closer one.

Great place great food great people

We visited Yo! for the first time because we had seen the January specials advertised on Instagram (soup and slurp curry pork dumplings & spicy chicken gyoza ramen). On arrival they explained how ordering worked using the qr code which made it easy to select anything we wanted that didn't come on the conveyor. I also saw the chefs taking requests from people to add particular extra dishes to the conveyor. The sushi was fine, definitely recommend the pork dumplings. When it was time to pay, the waiter confirmed with me what we had ordered on his iPad so quickly that it was impossible to realise that a 10% surcharge had been added and he never mentioned it which I thought was pretty cheeky, no receipt was provided and the order screen via the qr code showed the lower total without a tip so be aware of this.

Not a single complaint. Gorgeous food and such a lovely experience, all the staff were friendly and helpful too. Pricey but soooo worth it. We had the chicken teriyaki bowl and the salmon sushi set, both were delicious.

I was excited to try this place after a long time but it is not what it used to be, some of the dishes are way too overpriced for what you are getting. I was put off from ordering some of my old favourites due to how expensive they are now. I ordered some of their new items like their Curry Pork Dumplings, I was under the impression that soup n slurp meant there would be a soup to drink, but the curry was more like a small puddle of sauce, very disappointing. Their chicken tsukne was not very nice either. Also, it was freezing, it's the middle of January and they have the AC on right above me. I had to keep my coat on throughout my meal. The only good part of my meal was the staff, were pleasant and polite.

Very confusing. there were various signs around that were very confusing to follow and we were told to scan things and by someone who we couldn't hear what she was saying due to it being so loud. It was very disorganised, we were seated in a place someone we were with couldn't even sit due to his back problems and the orders must all be done online. Thankfully we have smart phones and data but not everyone does or has Internet access which I'm sure is restricting to a some customers. Very tense atmosphere and unfriendly staff, I won't be going back again even after covid.

The food was good but could have been better but we couldn't enjoy the food bcoz the service was so bad I ordered a fried noodle ramen and fried noodles were missing the person who let us in didn't take good care it was very disappointing. I would never go back again that's for sure nd The sushi's were not that fresh either.

Very nice 1st time experience here. Food was lovely. Staff were exceptionally pleasant. We left some important paperwork by mistake & a lovely member of staff ran after us, quite a way to return it to us. Will definitely go back here.

Came here for two separate birthday meals. Love this place! If you’re in Leicester, do yourself a favor and pop in for some unlimited miso soup and amazing gyoza!

Seems like the place was never updated after opening, all dishes were dirty, food overpriced. Who wants to pay for 3 pieces of sushi 8 pounds? :D Disappointed..

We visited to use the 50% off student deal, many of the dishes weren’t included but this wasn’t highlighted by staff. We waited for some dishes for over half an hour which was slightly disappointing. The new edamame smells of vinegar and isn’t nice. The normal edamame is bland, other dishes came out cold as well.

First time in a sushi restaurant, really enjoyed the experience.

Nice food, but pretty slow service. Also there is a beeping noise that makes the place sound like a McDonalds takeaway instead of a restaurant. Despite this, taking food off the conveyor belt was a great experience and we had a good time :)

the last time ive been to YO was before the pandemic and i’ve only ever been to the leamington spa branch. Visited this one on my birthday, the place is really tatty, scuffs up the walls, our placemats were used and had rice and soy sauce stuck to them. The best part about YO that i used to enjoy so much was the buzzers on the tables and the atmosphere. having to order on the app and trying to get the attention of waiting staff was difficult and not the best. also there was hardly any plates coming around the conveyer (which was one of the most fun parts of visiting yo!!!) don’t think i’ll ever return to a YO now, it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. however the food was great.

Rushed, with no one else in there. The food has gone downhill. It is not sushi anymore, just an expensive imitation.

Took our son for his birthday and was utterly disappointed. 1) The interior was too cold to sit comfortably 2) the place was dirty, including the glassware, and menus which were specked with dried food 3) the service was woeful - nobody came to tale our order and the main portion arrived 20 mins after everyone else had finished. Most of the menu seemed to be unavailable too! 4) there are barely any staff running the place, so getting anyone's attention was very difficult. Never going back!

Did not enjoy salmon as it was tasteless , portions were very-small for such expensive prices. Menu and paying is a complicated process.there should be split bill instead of ordering everything under one bill . Include a chicken halal option for halal meat eaters .I was truly disappointed and dissatisfied.

Having been to other brunches of this chain , this was the best . I had a fabulous experience thanks to Manjula and the staff . The quality food was fresh and tasty . I have since returned to this branch and will definitely visit it more often in the future . Dr Suresh Samy

A wide selection of delicious food, good service, and a trendy & stylish atmosphere.

Not sure what is happening here, maybe it’s the post-Covid world or the idiots interfering with food on belts, but Yo is a shadow of its former self. Sat down looking forward to a meal and instead of choosing from dishes trundling by we have to scan a QR code and order via a terrible app. I’ll just stay home and get a take away thanks. We gave up and went for a lovely curry instead.

In my opinion yo sushi food has gone down in quality. They make their rolls with more rice and very little vegetable, especially the vegetarian sushi. The service was very good in this yo sushi. Can't use blue card in a saturday is a shame.

A easy favourite restaurant for all sushi lovers! We been going to this Yo sushi branch for over 3 years and the food is always amazing every time. We often find that new dishes have been added to the menu which is always refreshing! Our latest favourite dish is the spicy tuna rolls! 🍣But the dragon rolls with another order of chicken katsu curry and some chilly squid is the best. The staff are really friendly and are always happy to accommodate if you require an table if requested. Never disappointed here. Really easy to have an take away order too which tastes just as good! 🥰

Expensive but very much worth it

Extremely small portion for yakisoba noodles, have had much better katau curry flavour and honestly the sushi wasn’t even that good. People who’ve experienced proper Japanese food or Korean cuisines will totally find it average

We had lunch today, my sons choice for his birthday meal. The food as always was absolutely divine, the service impeccable - my son was gifted a birthday assortment of desserts. He was over the moon! I love the fact the wasabi and ginger is now no longer on the table in pots for people to stick fingers in etc, it’s now provided in a dish once you’ve ordered. Highly recommend all the staff are amazing and clearly enjoy working there. Looking forward to our next visit. My only suggestion would be an option whilst ordering to decline spice in certain foods like the squid or have an option in the menu without - due to it being an app order I didn’t see it as an option (I may have missed it) and my son isn’t quite up to that level of spice yet and it’s his favourite dish.

Have been coming to Yo Sushi for years, always rate the food quality at their Leicester store. Staff are friendly and food comes fast. Recently brought back random food on the conveyor belts which enhances the experience. Yo Sushi is on the expensive side however being able to have several smaller plates of different dishes is amazing. Would recommend for special events/every now and then.

Many years since I have been. The sushi was always great. Even better now. The staff at the Leicester highcross branch where exceptional. Also to note it was amazingly clean.

The only reason I go to Yo sushi is because my children like the ramen. Of which I have had much better else where. The restaurant and toilets are very dirty which make me question what it is like behind the seens. It is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, the food was substandard.

First time here and we weren't disappointed. Most welcoming staff and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back. Reasonably priced, well worth the visit.

Was gifted a Sushi School voucher from Valentine's Day. Session was facilitated by Nimi who was a fantastic and encouraging teacher and I had so much fun. This was primarily a sushi rolling lesson which I found really beneficial as I have made sushi before but wasn't too sure about rolling. Rice was pre made. You make enough sushi for a large meal's worth -1 set of cucumber maki, california roll, salmon nigiri, salmon temaki and we got to take away some mats at the end. Really enjoyed and great value for money!

Sushi was already made and kept in a fridge, and then served, to us. One of the chefs was touching the noodles with no gloves on. The sushi menu had not variety at all. In general felt very disappointed with the restaurant. It is really expensive for not quality food. I would not recommend it for sushi lovers.

Not what it once was. The conveyer belt is not really used which takes the joy out of it, you can no longer get a servers attention easily, there's no water on tap anymore and the menu just doesn't seem quite as extensive. I realise covid changed a lot of things but they've taken away the best points of what made yo sushi unique; really disappointed, although the food was still good. I also went flying to the floor on the way out of the restaurant as the tiles outside were super slippy due to the rain, lucky i didn't injure myself! Could really do with a mat out the front.

We always thoroughly enjoy the great vegan selection and the staff are so friendly, and the service second to none! Thank you so much!

Absolutely amazing. Great staff so helpful food just beautiful. I take my granddaughter when I can and this is our go to place. I have crohn's disease so I can't eat much so for me eating small is amazing, but she can really eat so being able to order to our requirements is just perfect. Love it.

You haven’t lived if you’ve not visited Yo Sushi🍣🥢 We visited on a while back for what felt like the first time in forever! And trust me, we do not hold back when we come here… What we ordered: Mega Korean Chicken Gyoza: a new addition to the menu and absolutely incredible! Fried gyozas are life. The Korean ketchup and Mayo combination are out of this world. And crispy onions on top too? Win win. Yo Fries: a staple for any meal at Yo. They’ve recently updated the recipe. At first I wasn’t too sure but the aonori seaweed garnish is a delight. They are so moreish😍. Crunchy Cali Rolls - surimi, avocado, mayo, and crispy onions. What a combination (dipped in soy sauce as well ofc). I feel like I’ve gone to heaven every time I eat them. Edamame: I always order this. I just love to munch on it throughout my meal. The salt and spring onions on top are my favourite. Popcorn Shrimp: oh my lord. These will change your life. Lightly battered tempura prawns in a sweet miso and chilli sauce. Get down to Yo Sushi asap and order these!! Chicken Katsu Curry: saving the best till last. My go to whenever I visit. Also, an unpopular yet very true opinion: it’s better than Wagamama (like wayyyy better). My favourite thing to order on colder days too. A comforting dish🥰. Overall: 10/10 ⭐️ (always a 10/10) I am so glad we discovered this place and have been coming here on a regular for nearly 5 years. I’ve never had a bad experience at any Yo I’ve been to, but the Leicester one will always be my fave🫶🏻The staff are all incredible and so friendly. The manager is so attentive and always looks after us - you can tell he really cares which is so nice to see. The food is always a 10000/10 and I always love trying new additions to their menu. Please trust me when I say you need to get down there ASAP!!

The food was delicious so I’ve given three stars but it was very expensive and I’m disappointed that they weren’t using the conveyer belt to serve you the food they were just passing it to you which takes away from the fun!

the place is very friendly and accomodating. the food is made promptly. but, they tend to sprinkle everything with this extremely spicy and salty orange powder, I never experienced that in other yo sushi places, you cannot even taste what you eat. woke up with a swollen face , too much of that powder! on the app, or paper menu, it does not even show that squid would be served totally covered with chilly powder . I love spicy food, but it was overpowering

Used to be very good, but downhill since covid. Staffing is low and very hard to get hard to get anything from a person (rather than the app). The costs are crazy expensive now. As of writing, it's over £5 for a couple of slices of pumpkin katsu. The food is generally good, and the staff are nice enough, but it's hard to justify the extreme costs. Note, a 20% service charge is added to your bill (optional), which is hilarious given you don't get table service, you order from an app and the food arrives on a belt.

Normally a fan of yo sushi but last visit there was no JFC, although being heavily advertised. Settled for the plant based version. Was a disappointing dish for nearly £10. The coleslaw vegetables seemed old and the sauce was not mixed in. Previously enjoyed the no duck fries, but they were not available and there were also no edamame beans. Seemed like a really small menu.

Service was not very good at all. Ordered my little girl the kids bento box pancakes (dessert) came out after 2 mins but the food took 35 minutes to arrive. Asked why and we would rather it come after to which we was told “that’s just how it is” charged £3 for a can of Coke Zero seems steep and also 6 prawn crackers for £3.50 will avoid next time

After an hour our group of 5 were still missing a lot of our order. It took just less than an hour to get my meal that was poorly cooked (the beef teriyaki bowl). Our group was surprised that they didnt spit in our food...

Avoid this restaurant. Service is very poor, and food was mediocre. This used to be an amazing place but recently gone downhill.

Absolutely horrible ! I have ordered multiple sushi sets through Deliveroo from this restaurant. Sushi we’re looking completely different to the pictures. Smaller and fell apart, some fish stank of rotten again. YO SUSHI was one of my favourite places to eat couple of years ago that turned into disgrace! AVOID UNLESS YOU WANT FOOD POISONING

Yo! does lovely food, but it's slightly on the expensive side and service can be quite difficult to get during busy periods if you need a staff member's assistance.

Food - especially the fish was not pleasant. The larger bowls such as the ramen contained little additional ingredients and was almost all broth. Prices were also quite high considering the quality

I have been to the ones in London and they are really good. This one was not. Not sure why. The food was ok. Will not visit again.

Really polite and helpful staff

The food quality overall has been very good every time we have visited and the service on our most recent visit was very quick. The main things that let it down is the attempt to sneakily get people to pay additional charges on top of an already typically high costing order and towards the end of our meal the staff have a habit of asking us to fill out a survey for them, which we agree to but it is rather annoying when you are just trying to enjoy your food.

Changed the specialty about it. The specialty was the cover belt that spun around susi the tables and you could pick up any dish you want but now you have to oder. Apart from that the food is good although it's a bit expensive.
