YO! Sushi - Highcross Leicester in Leicester

Shocking poor made me mad got a buy one get one free thought uh I can eat one later but no its got sauce onit which makes your crispy prawns all sloppy and there cripsy for a reason ruined the while thing next don't put sauce on my food separate it I asked for no sauce on my fries still put sauce onit fries whre equivalent to maryland chips shocking LISTEN TO PEOPLE REQUESTS FFS

Ordered a delivery through uber eats at 8.30pm and delivery was scheduled at 9.15pm. At 9.05pm I received a call from uber eats that the Yo's kitchen is under construction and my order is cancelled. I had to make alternative arrangements to get food. This is unacceptable and very unprofessional.

The food and the general staff were fine however after having paid for our meal and leaving, the manager came running after us and in the middle of the street accused us of not paying for our meal and walking off. I corrected him and said we’d paid another member of staff who had taken the payment. At this he just looked confused and walked off, no apology or anything… To the manager, as some general feedback can I recommend you check you facts before running down paying customers in the future!!

Very small portions. Food over cooked. Unfortunately, not value for money at all.

Excellent lunch at yo! Sushi Leicester. Nestled in the middle of the high cross food court area. The staff were friendly and very attentive, the restaurant was clean and inviting.

Decent food, just a little pricy.

Ceiling had mould and had fallen down in parts. Just really poor in general, food taking ages. I know peoples come out as it’s cooked but for the two youngest to be waiting the longest to the point everyone else has finished all their dishes seems ridiculous. Food wasn’t great. Order was wrong twice. We came for a birthday lunch and was truely disappointing.

Friendly staff very slow service forgot lots of the order. Everyone was very polite but service was so slow even though it was nearly empty. Kept forgetting our orders had to chase for most items that were ordered then even forgot them! Had to check bill as these items were not removed.

Really good branch of YO! Service/advice was great ( by a lovely Asian chap) despite being busy at lunch and the food was superb and portions decent. As always I find YO! to better done outside of London for some reason. The whole team work well together and help one another. Very impressed at how well it was run and I think other stores particular in London could learn.

Recommended. Good place to try Japanese food around Leicester. Have good dessert options and also can taste Sake as well. You can pick anything you like from the moving belt. Reasonable price. Very good service, specially from the Manager.

Really disappointed that they did not deduct my daughters kids meal off the bill. YO Sushi are meant to be offering free kids meals over summer from 1st July 2024. I visited on the 3rd July.

The service was awful. I am half Japanese and I said I didn’t like the ramen and told the waiter about my comment. He insisted that it is served like that. Even though we were the only ones in the restaurant it was impossible to get the attention of the waiter. It was also expensive for what they serve. I recommend everyone to go to Wakaze instead. Best sushi in the city.

The service was abysmal. They didn't care about the customer. The foods were worse than abysmal.

Restaurant didn't look very clean. Sushi wasn't looking fresh. App order system was down, but a guy helped us with orders. The YO! sushi we went to in Selfridge's Birmingham was way better than this. We didn't want to stay long, just finished food and left asap.

Although the food had flavour and tasted fresh, it is very overpriced for extremely small portions. Felt ripped off, sadly.

Great place, great food, friendly staff

My one complaint is, it is too pricey unfortunately. I would give 5 stars if prices were more reasonable. 6 pounds on average for a 4 piece sushi is too much. Concept is fantastic, getting what you want to eat from the conveyor belt and paying accordingly is very fun. Service is amazing, staff is very friendly, nice. They explain everything and always around when you need something. As for taste, most tastes above average while some are delicious others are near average but nothing is bad. Portions are enough but price is too high compared to the portions.

Lovely food. The Katsu curry was very nice and the service was impeccable. Would highly recommend this place.

Food is class eating in, always is. Takeaway options are better for sushi pallets and the reward points system never hurts :)

It's the first time I've been here and won't be going back in a hurry also put a £10 service charge on our bill we getting get much service at all

Amazing experience will definitely be going again, we pre booked and I listed that I was a vegetarian and upon arrival I was asked who was the vegetarian and given a large range of options from the menus, really great stuff and a lot of stuff available. I also want to note at the time we were greatfully looked after by a staff member called Manch, everything was met with perfect timing, perfect recommendations and made the experience so much better I would like to give the highest appraisal to Mach! Thank you very much! Along with the amazing service there was a speedy delivery time with food coming out incredibly quick with also amazing discounts, I want to go again already! I would also like to recommend the ramen, the miso is so good.

Whenever I order take out or eat in I never have a complaint. The staff are friendly and approachable, whenever there has been something wrong it's always fixed instantly without a problem. The food is well priced and portions are nicely sized, my favourite dish is the chicken katsu curry and whenever I have it, it never disappoints!

I came here for lunch and ordered a miso soup and prawn katsu curry. The food came quickly but the prawn curry was lukewarm at best. The waiter then decided to dump a tablet on my table in the middle of my meal and ask me to leave feedback on the food. Im happy to do this but i believe it’s a bit rude to when someone’s eating. I told the waiter at the end that the food was cold and he just said sorry and he will tell his manager but he really didnt seem to care. I used to love this place but theres no love to it anymore. It’s gotten more expensive and smaller portions.

Very impressed with my UberEats order. Excellent quality of ingredients. Was all fresh and well made.

It’s so lovely to see the conveyer belts back working with the sushi plates going around. The staff are very helpful and friendly. However the prices have increased a lot meaning it’s a VERY expensive treat.

Food was great 👍 just that the prawns could have been boxed separately to the rice so it didn't go soggy

Been a regular here in my hometown of Leicester and always received super nice food and service. Hadn’t been for a while due to work and recently passed by to be greeted by the same lovely people and faces that always made me feel welcome. For the life of me I can’t remember the managers name but he’s an absolute star. See you soon YO ….. ✌🏾

Great place great food great people

Worst experience ever!! My delivery time kept changing and I never received my order, also I’ve been emailing them and no response,I need my refund back, I hope I get my money back soon.

Set your expectations low. Food was cold, very small portions, missing the coke as stated part of the meal deal and the rice was clearly packet rice. I will not be returning due to the poor quality and shockingly high prices. Very disappointed.

We visited Yo! for the first time because we had seen the January specials advertised on Instagram (soup and slurp curry pork dumplings & spicy chicken gyoza ramen). On arrival they explained how ordering worked using the qr code which made it easy to select anything we wanted that didn't come on the conveyor. I also saw the chefs taking requests from people to add particular extra dishes to the conveyor. The sushi was fine, definitely recommend the pork dumplings. When it was time to pay, the waiter confirmed with me what we had ordered on his iPad so quickly that it was impossible to realise that a 10% surcharge had been added and he never mentioned it which I thought was pretty cheeky, no receipt was provided and the order screen via the qr code showed the lower total without a tip so be aware of this.

Not a single complaint. Gorgeous food and such a lovely experience, all the staff were friendly and helpful too. Pricey but soooo worth it. We had the chicken teriyaki bowl and the salmon sushi set, both were delicious.

Very confusing. there were various signs around that were very confusing to follow and we were told to scan things and by someone who we couldn't hear what she was saying due to it being so loud. It was very disorganised, we were seated in a place someone we were with couldn't even sit due to his back problems and the orders must all be done online. Thankfully we have smart phones and data but not everyone does or has Internet access which I'm sure is restricting to a some customers. Very tense atmosphere and unfriendly staff, I won't be going back again even after covid.

The food was good but could have been better but we couldn't enjoy the food bcoz the service was so bad I ordered a fried noodle ramen and fried noodles were missing the person who let us in didn't take good care it was very disappointing. I would never go back again that's for sure nd The sushi's were not that fresh either.

Very nice 1st time experience here. Food was lovely. Staff were exceptionally pleasant. We left some important paperwork by mistake & a lovely member of staff ran after us, quite a way to return it to us. Will definitely go back here.

Came here for two separate birthday meals. Love this place! If you’re in Leicester, do yourself a favor and pop in for some unlimited miso soup and amazing gyoza!

Seems like the place was never updated after opening, all dishes were dirty, food overpriced. Who wants to pay for 3 pieces of sushi 8 pounds? :D Disappointed..

We visited to use the 50% off student deal, many of the dishes weren’t included but this wasn’t highlighted by staff. We waited for some dishes for over half an hour which was slightly disappointing. The new edamame smells of vinegar and isn’t nice. The normal edamame is bland, other dishes came out cold as well.

Great service and great food. Always enjoy going here and always feel welcome. Food is always fresh and is great!

First time in a sushi restaurant, really enjoyed the experience.

Ordered at 7 didn't get our food till 9 o clock. Food was OK but overpriced for quality provided.

Nice food, but pretty slow service. Also there is a beeping noise that makes the place sound like a McDonalds takeaway instead of a restaurant. Despite this, taking food off the conveyor belt was a great experience and we had a good time :)

the last time ive been to YO was before the pandemic and i’ve only ever been to the leamington spa branch. Visited this one on my birthday, the place is really tatty, scuffs up the walls, our placemats were used and had rice and soy sauce stuck to them. The best part about YO that i used to enjoy so much was the buzzers on the tables and the atmosphere. having to order on the app and trying to get the attention of waiting staff was difficult and not the best. also there was hardly any plates coming around the conveyer (which was one of the most fun parts of visiting yo!!!) don’t think i’ll ever return to a YO now, it just doesn’t feel the same anymore. however the food was great.

Rushed, with no one else in there. The food has gone downhill. It is not sushi anymore, just an expensive imitation.

No stars as the dish was horrible. It arrived quickly but stone cold. Heated it in the microwave for a min but the it was dry pieces of tough beef. One mouthful was enough.

Not sure what is happening here, maybe it’s the post-Covid world or the idiots interfering with food on belts, but Yo is a shadow of its former self. Sat down looking forward to a meal and instead of choosing from dishes trundling by we have to scan a QR code and order via a terrible app. I’ll just stay home and get a take away thanks. We gave up and went for a lovely curry instead.

Delivery didn't arrive at all. Called the restaurant half an hour after this app said it had been delivered, told that they'd had to throw away my food because the driver hadn't turned up for it. Very disappointed, will not order from here again.

Israt was our sushi expert at the sushi making experience. He was brilliant and very patient and attentive! Learnt so much and had a brilliant time! Thank you!

In my opinion yo sushi food has gone down in quality. They make their rolls with more rice and very little vegetable, especially the vegetarian sushi. The service was very good in this yo sushi. Can't use blue card in a saturday is a shame.

A easy favourite restaurant for all sushi lovers! We been going to this Yo sushi branch for over 3 years and the food is always amazing every time. We often find that new dishes have been added to the menu which is always refreshing! Our latest favourite dish is the spicy tuna rolls! 🍣But the dragon rolls with another order of chicken katsu curry and some chilly squid is the best. The staff are really friendly and are always happy to accommodate if you require an table if requested. Never disappointed here. Really easy to have an take away order too which tastes just as good! 🥰

Expensive but very much worth it

Extremely small portion for yakisoba noodles, have had much better katau curry flavour and honestly the sushi wasn’t even that good. People who’ve experienced proper Japanese food or Korean cuisines will totally find it average

We had lunch today, my sons choice for his birthday meal. The food as always was absolutely divine, the service impeccable - my son was gifted a birthday assortment of desserts. He was over the moon! I love the fact the wasabi and ginger is now no longer on the table in pots for people to stick fingers in etc, it’s now provided in a dish once you’ve ordered. Highly recommend all the staff are amazing and clearly enjoy working there. Looking forward to our next visit. My only suggestion would be an option whilst ordering to decline spice in certain foods like the squid or have an option in the menu without - due to it being an app order I didn’t see it as an option (I may have missed it) and my son isn’t quite up to that level of spice yet and it’s his favourite dish.

Have been coming to Yo Sushi for years, always rate the food quality at their Leicester store. Staff are friendly and food comes fast. Recently brought back random food on the conveyor belts which enhances the experience. Yo Sushi is on the expensive side however being able to have several smaller plates of different dishes is amazing. Would recommend for special events/every now and then.

Very tasty food. Had chicken katsu etc ! A glass of beer is pricey tho! Will visit again.

Not great but did sit in a Lidl carpark for about 20 mins with the delivery driver and took another 15 mins to get to me. Chicken, chips, rice and popcorn shrimp were all cold except the sushi which was slightly warm. Overall I spent £60 and atleast £40 went in the bin. Don't think I'll bother again.

Many years since I have been. The sushi was always great. Even better now. The staff at the Leicester highcross branch where exceptional. Also to note it was amazingly clean.

The only reason I go to Yo sushi is because my children like the ramen. Of which I have had much better else where. The restaurant and toilets are very dirty which make me question what it is like behind the seens. It is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, the food was substandard.

The dumpling and sauce are amazing, was still warm and very filling!

First time here and we weren't disappointed. Most welcoming staff and the food was amazing. We will definitely be back. Reasonably priced, well worth the visit.

First time ordering from here and it was amazing. All the food was delicious and arrived quickly and safely.

Sushi was already made and kept in a fridge, and then served, to us. One of the chefs was touching the noodles with no gloves on. The sushi menu had not variety at all. In general felt very disappointed with the restaurant. It is really expensive for not quality food. I would not recommend it for sushi lovers.

We always thoroughly enjoy the great vegan selection and the staff are so friendly, and the service second to none! Thank you so much!

Absolutely amazing. Great staff so helpful food just beautiful. I take my granddaughter when I can and this is our go to place. I have crohn's disease so I can't eat much so for me eating small is amazing, but she can really eat so being able to order to our requirements is just perfect. Love it.

You haven’t lived if you’ve not visited Yo Sushi🍣🥢 We visited on a while back for what felt like the first time in forever! And trust me, we do not hold back when we come here… What we ordered: Mega Korean Chicken Gyoza: a new addition to the menu and absolutely incredible! Fried gyozas are life. The Korean ketchup and Mayo combination are out of this world. And crispy onions on top too? Win win. Yo Fries: a staple for any meal at Yo. They’ve recently updated the recipe. At first I wasn’t too sure but the aonori seaweed garnish is a delight. They are so moreish😍. Crunchy Cali Rolls - surimi, avocado, mayo, and crispy onions. What a combination (dipped in soy sauce as well ofc). I feel like I’ve gone to heaven every time I eat them. Edamame: I always order this. I just love to munch on it throughout my meal. The salt and spring onions on top are my favourite. Popcorn Shrimp: oh my lord. These will change your life. Lightly battered tempura prawns in a sweet miso and chilli sauce. Get down to Yo Sushi asap and order these!! Chicken Katsu Curry: saving the best till last. My go to whenever I visit. Also, an unpopular yet very true opinion: it’s better than Wagamama (like wayyyy better). My favourite thing to order on colder days too. A comforting dish🥰. Overall: 10/10 ⭐️ (always a 10/10) I am so glad we discovered this place and have been coming here on a regular for nearly 5 years. I’ve never had a bad experience at any Yo I’ve been to, but the Leicester one will always be my fave🫶🏻The staff are all incredible and so friendly. The manager is so attentive and always looks after us - you can tell he really cares which is so nice to see. The food is always a 10000/10 and I always love trying new additions to their menu. Please trust me when I say you need to get down there ASAP!!
