Greatest staff - very accommodating! Fresh food and tastes absolutely lovely. Would recommend. Been my go to for years.

Nice place, but it there is a lot of room for improvement. We ordered sushi, ramen and tempura shrips. The sushi was good and fresh, but it had too many things on top. It didn't bothered but less is more! On the menu there were lots of versions with cream chese... who on earth has cream chese on a sushi? I understand it is England not Japan, but still... you eat in a restaurant, not from Tesco. The ramen was tasteless and was missing a lot of ingredients for it to be a ramen. Do not order this dish. I am sorry, but maybe I went with too high expectations.

Dined in with friends today. We were greeted and taken care of by the sweetest most respectful waitress with such a lovely smile and energy. She reccommended the Red dragon sushi and it was stunning. We had a chicken and beef soup noodles. The chicken noodle was a bir flavorless and both meats were sort of chewy, but overall everything was absolutely lovely.

I’ve tried all the sushi places in Leicester and this has to be the best one. Everything is always cooked fresh and staff are very friendly.

Decent for sushi in particular! Get the Green Dragon roll!

Had a great lunch time experience here. The waitress was very friendly and had a smile on her face throughout, and service was efficient. I had the shoji bento box which came in a very generous portion and was delicious. As a vegetarian I was impressed as the components of the box were unique and didn’t feel like an afterthought just to cater to vegan/vegetarians, which is the case at some restaurants. The atmosphere inside was also nice, which I didn’t expect because of the dark exterior. Cant wait to come back!

Got a boat of sushi to share between 4 people and we were all satisfied. A range of rolls and all made fresh. The host was also very attentive

So i can feel the service is so good and neat The ambience is good I would recommend to people or my other co-workers or my friends to come to this place to have a good chat and have a good food and cocktails, so whatever the drinks they provide in the menu, so I do prefer that this place ( bonzai ) is a good place to hang around with family and friends

Not the best bibimbap when it's not made with bulgogi but it was alright. Service was terrible. Sat me down took my order and never saw the server again. Had to go search for my bill and to pay. Watched other servers hustling but not mine, she couldn't be arsed.

Very tasty, especially the set with a large shrimp, we didn't have to wait long, the atmosphere is great, there weren't many people, maybe because we were there on a working day.

Loved it! I have been dealing with morning sickness so made a staff member aware and asked for a bag incase I didn't make it to the bathroom, she checked up on me throughout the time we were there and brought over a glass of water. They let you take any left overs in a box and I loved all the sushi and the miso soup! The only thing both me and my partner noticed was that the takoyaki was a little bit raw in the middle but it was hot all the way through so in our opinion it was not dangerous just a little but of batter, over all it was an amazing experience and we will be going there again!! 9.5/10 for the whole experience!!

This is a fabulous little sushi restaurant, that sells more than just sushi. Staff were very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for my son's birthday, even decorated around the table for us. Food came out hot and was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing place! Must visit if you love Japanese cuisine. We had bento boxes and I couldn’t finish mine it was a super generous portion! And staff very genuine and polite! Highly recommend

Food is nice, staff are friendly. Just a few things If they could improve would be perfect: 1) no heating in the restaurant, So a bit cold When sitting in 2)there is only one toilet shared by males/females/disabled, it's not convenient and the hygiene is not great. 3)maybe short of staff or sth, the service is slow and food preparation took Too long time.

The restaurant itself is fine (although there was a small scaffold tower up in the middle of the restaurant) and the service was also good. The food was quite average though. We had the Bonsai sharing starter which wasn't expensive at £16, but there were a lot of mini spring rolls and similar triangle filo parcels in it which didn't really taste of anything. Then we had the Deluxe sushi sharing platter. Whilst generous in terms of its size, it was let down by the fish and rice. The texture of the tuna for example felt a bit tough and grainy which is either down to quality or storage. The rice was quite stodgy and didn't taste like it had any seasoning in it. The uramaki and the salmon & squid (or cuttlefish) nigiri were the nicest items on the platter. There was soy sauce and wasabi on the table but no pickled ginger was served with the sushi as you would expect. I'm sure we could have asked for some but we didn't.

Nice sushi place, open late, never too busy, usually can walk in. Used have issues paying now that's sorted and they have a card machine. Food is great. Recommend the 'white tiger' and 'bonzai roll'. The 'Takoyaki' starter is incredible just be careful you don't burn your mouth.

Really good for a sushi experience! The service was good and quick! The platters of sushi take a bit of time but they are really good! They don't take card unless you do a bank transfer and they take cash! Definitely worth going again!

I had a sushi+nigiri set and a glass of wine. It was very good. Staff is very friendly. Place looks nice but I think they had water leak problems when I was there which causes unpleasant atmosphere (buckets and signs around the place). To sum it up, I will definitely go there again to taste ramen and unagi dishes.

We always love coming here for a treat! The food is amazing and the portions are so large. I have to eat Gluten Free and they advise me and provide gluten free soy sauce! Fantastic!

We waited for an hour and the dishes were still not served. After asking the restaurant staff, she said that the chef had forgotten to cook and would start now, saying it would be ready in 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later, it was still not ready. When we asked again, the chef said if you don't want to eat, you can cancel the order.

This place is honestly my go to when i’m in leicester! one of the best sushi restaurants. Sushi is very high quality and made excellently. Staff is very lovely and the chef and servers are brilliant, especially as i have a seasme seed allergy and they take it very seriously and i have had 0 issues the countless times i’ve been here. Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Having dinner with my family last Saturday was a great experience. Although the restaurant was busy and we had to wait for a while, But it was definitely worth it. The food was totally terrific and the staff was friendly, even though they were busy but still will come check us. We will definitely come back next time and recommend it to others.

I used to be a regular, but stopped coming 6+ months ago due to the hygiene of the tea pots of the green tea I thought it was disgusting. I thought to give it another shot today, I was even more disappointed with the Ton Katsu Don rices and Unaigi Bento's rice. The rice was hard and didn't even feel like I was having sushi rice it wasnt soft and sticky, felt almost like ordinary rice and hasnt been cooked properly. The worst part about the Bento box the tofu was sour, so I believe its beginning to go off and they still served it. Then towards the end some of the rice in the Bento box tasted weird like soapy, I hope they have been rinsing their dishes properly after wash, and they must have forgotten our Bento box as everything was almost finished and it still hasnt arrived, we had to chase it, and even after chasing it didn't come till 15mins later. Finally, the Teriyaki Seafood Udon was absolutely brilliant in flavours, however the beansprouts within absolutely ruined it, as it wasnt fresh so it tasted funny. I hope there's improvements can be made as you used to be my favourite sushi place. Overall, the service was lovely, nice staffs, very polite and helping.

Service was great, staff was lovely. However, this was the worst ramen I ever had. Noodles were overcooked and were falling apart, broth had no taste, egg was overcooked and old, and the pork was so hard I couldn’t even bite throughout it, this is the first time I left a full dish and just didn’t eat it. Takoyaki was great.

This Japanese restaurant is great for casual night out, and party too, you can book a party at the back, i had my birthday party here. It was great. Food- every time we come here they never fail us it's always delicious that's why we keep coming back Noodles ahhh so perfect Highly recommended the tepanyaki noodles and the soup noodles. It's got full of flavours, Sushi was freshly made. Value of money it's very good, portions are good. Highly recommended it We love food and we always look for full of flavours and this is the place for a very good food. You should try you won't get disappointed.

Chose this sushi place for lunch, had an incredibly lovely waitress look after us, cannot fault the service. Unfortunately, I ended up having very bad food poisoning after eating here, possibly due to how warm it was in the restaurant. From what I could tell, the rice was freshly made meaning it was still warm when it was made into sushi which may be what caused the fish to go bad. I imagine it was a one off but did ruin my personal experience of the sushi bar. Mostly thought it was important to leave a review so the restaurant can avoid this happening to customers in the future!

The restaurant was quiet. I booked a table for one and placed my order 20 minutes later. The waitress asked if I would be prepared to wait an extra half an hour for my mail because they were really busy. This was not people in the restaurant. This was takeaway orders. I said I was not happy to wait another half an hour and to be fair my first course, arrived fairly soon after. Whilst eating my meal two Islamic fully clothed, women entered the restaurant and having moved table 3 times placed themselves next to me within a few minutes of sitting next to me, One of them called me a filthy tramp because I had looked at her. She demanded to be moved and was moved again to her fourth choice of place for the evening. I waited for my second course which never arrived and went to pay, and as I did so I was abused again by these two Muslim women. The staff at the restaurant, raise their eyes in disapproval, but did nothing to prevent the abuse. I did nothing and said nothing to offend either of these women, but quite clearly whatever I did or said they would’ve played the race card and I would’ve been the underdog. Very disappointing evening with no support from the restaurant staff

Staff were very rude and grumpy. Bad service - we weren't allowed to sit on the table we requested, nobody came to ask us how the meal was. The meat for the bento meal was also tough and overcooked. Won't be coming back again.

Sushi was delicious! Ordered the ‘korean spicy’ fried noodles. However, they were not nice, the sauce was overpowered with ginger! That is all you could taste in the whole dish! Service was good :)

We came for the sushi dishes, we didn’t order any of the hot and noodles. Plenty of booth seating mostly, staff were friendly, the food was good, the quality and portions of the fish meat was also very good. However, there were issues: Wasabi was weak. The fish meat was always cold, I found it quite jarring against warm rice. It may have be a choice of the head chef, but I always believed sushi meat should be served around room temp. Incorrect items came a few times, at one moment one of the staff were trying to convince me a very yellow salmon looking meat was tuna. At the time, they did not accept card.

Nice friendly bar/ restaurant serving Japanese and Korean staples. I enjoyed kimchi edamame and salmon teriyaki with a cold Kirin. All very good and fairly reasonable price too.

excellent food and very good service. We had the set menu which included a selection of hot and cold starters, plus a range of main course options. All delicious. The only gripe was the restaurant itself - it was a very cold day and there didn’t appear to be any heating on. There was also a huge pile of dirty crockery, despite there only being a few customers.

Visited Bonzai on Saturday early evening as a party of 4 and was met by a friendly hostess at the door. Ordered and food began arriving within a few minutes. Food was all fantastic, for sushi it was flavoursome without being overtly fishy, so you can tell the ingredients used are fresh. The ramen was delicious. The only downside were that drinks will run your bill up quickly as they were very expensive for canned drinks. The Mrs had a double archers, which ran to £9.60 before they charged for the lemonade. Brilliant place to eat, have multiple times been before, and will definitely be going back. Thanks for a great meal Bonzai.

We ordered delivery and the sushi was great as always. So, congrats to the chefs. You never disappoint. Too bad I won’t be coming back to the restaurant unless the Manager is sacked. He used to charges us “service fee”. I know that that’s normal for businesses to do nowadays because of the inflation. But this happened before the UK started getting high inflation and it wasn’t advertised anywhere on the menu or the restaurant itself. Not to mention that he used to make us pay in cash almost every time with the excuse that card reader was broken. Very shady individual.
