Was actually taken aback that "service" like this still exists in England in the 21st century. Waitresses blatantly walking past you when you ask for assistance, & when they do eventually come to your table, you appear to have inconvenienced them. With so many options for dining at West Quay, it's surprising this kind of service is allowed to continue. If you visit West Quay, choose somewhere else to eat.

It was a dissapointing experience. We love YO but this time we found it very over priced and the portion sizes are a lot smaller than they used to be. Crispy squid was warm as we're the chips. Service was attentive. Expensive for what you get !

The misspelling of “Southampton” in the listing name really demonstrates the level of care you should expect from the waiting staff. Nobody took a drinks order until we were almost done. Every interaction with the waiting staff was as if we had inconvenienced them in some way.

Bottomless belt food was excellent, lots of dishes and variety on the belt. However service was not. Employee who ‘greeted’ us was unfriendly and did not let us sit down 12 minutes before our booking for a drink although the restaurant was three quarters empty. Per the website when I booked and my email confirmation the bottomless belt should have been 90 minutes, however their response when I mentioned this was ‘well it’s 60’. Manager was being very abrupt, chastising and somewhat sarcastic to chefs quite loudly and repeatedly in front of guests. Had to wait 16 minutes after time was up to ask for the bill as no one came by.

Went for the bottomless belt (August 15 2024), as it is stated until 8pm. My time was 6:30 until 8. 6:30 until 7 was okayish, we had some plates. But after that was downhill. Just salas and bad dishes. Slow replacement. Finished eating a lot of avocado hossomakis because if not, I would have left hungry. The idea is nice, the execution was terrible. Before 7:40 they started cleaning and no more sushi were made. EDITED: The company was fast to reply the complains and everything. I will come back in a near future to try it again, as my complains were forwarded to the management and will be looked into.

We waited at least 50 minutes for some beef and chicken teriyaki that we ordered and never arrived! We saw them make at least 2 chicken teriyaki’s right in front of us just for it to be given to some people that had arrived after us. We asked where it was and they said it was on its way but we still had to wait another 20 minutes so we just left very unhappy and hungry. Very disappointed as normally it isn’t too bad there. Where to even start. We have been to this Yo several times and each time I've considered writing a review and never managed it, but yesterday was so poor that I feel I can put 3 bad visits into one review. To be fair, until yesterday the food has always been good which is the only reason we've gone back. Previously, we have been told that there is only 1 table with availability to have a pram there and when attending with my mother in a mobility scooter, have been made to feel like we are causing difficulties by wanting to sit in the disabled area. We have also witnessed a member of staff getting told off right over our shoulder, and watched the manager tell his team that he was having the first break - not great leadership. Yesterday we arrived and were told that some of the equipment wasn't working so they could only do rice and noodles for hot food. I see this was an issue on a review a month ago so perhaps this needs looking at. We still went ahead as we love sushi. Yo sushi have got rid of the QR codes to order now but they haven't reinstalled the button to call for assistance. We therefore waited for ages before the manager came over and asked what we would like. We put our food order in which included Miso Soup. My mum and I love Miso soup, but yesterday it was undrinkable. It was much too strong. We also ordered Salmon Ponzu Salsa which is my favourite. The chef went to hand it to me and the manager, over my shoulder, was telling the staff member there wasn't enough fish on it and that it wasn't done correctly. I have to say, the way he spoke to his staff was so condescending. When the salmon arrived though, it was delicious. There was another male member of staff who was behind us on the till, who again, stood over my shoulder, and proceeded to tell two of the female chefs to prioritise the order from the Costa team opposite or they wouldn't get free drinks from them anymore. There were people waiting for food, paying customers. He was so rude to the two female chefs as well and obviously felt bad about it as he went back a few minutes later and reminded them that he never gets drinks from Costa so it's not his problem if they stop giving them. Honestly, these conversations should not be happening over the shoulder of customers. The staff look miserable and I'm not surprised after the few scenarios we have witnessed. I am not the first to mention this so perhaps this needs some looking at. Really very disappointed 😞

Had the worst ramen in my life despite waiting almost 40 mins for it (restaurant was not crowded). The noodles used were hokkien noodles and not ramen. The soup was warm, not hot. It totally lacked Japanese flavour (an instant cup noodle would have tasted better). I saw the chef at work (it's an open kitchen), and he truly needs proper training on how to make Japanese food. ** Also, the whole time he was handling food without gloves. The selection of sushi on the belt was also very limited, and the salmon was sliced incorrectly. The restaurant manager was really friendly and attentive. He alerted the owner, who was in the kitchen, and I got to speak to him. He was very receptive and promised to do a taste test and improve on the quality of the food. They kindly offered to take the ramen off my bill (I just couldn't eat it).

He absolutely loved it, Dave and his team made sure that he was made very welcome, and in a small group of 8, taught him how to create various sushi dishes. A disappointing visit all around. The belt had barely anything on it - at lunch time! And it was just the same stuff going around. When we left there was barely anything left. Fryer was broken according to staff so this meant the only hot food available was fried rice or noodles. This begs the question - is ALL the hot food fried? We couldn't get soup or teriyaki chicken etc etc. This makes me wonder about the accuracy of the calories on the menu. So while food did not even come close to meeting expectations, I have to say that the staff were absolutely fantastic, they felt awful that the menu was barely available and couldn't have been nicer or more apologetic. Left feeling very bad that corporate had left them in this position, it's not right. We overheard one staff member say that this has been going on for two weeks. Shocking.

For my birthday last Sunday, 10th December, my friends and I went to Yo! Sushi at Westquay. We managed to get a table and ordered food as usual. Considering that the card payments would work we ordered food as per our apetite. The rude manager, Ryan, during payments informed us that we will have to pay cash since the machines weren't working even before we arrived. He kept on insisting us, as well as the adjacent table to ours to pay by cash. He didn't even let us try our luck with our cards. One of us had to encash from a nearby ATM. It was a terrible incident with the manager being rude and not letting us even try our cards. Also, he could have informed us at the time of seating. The waitress was sweet and hence we specifically asked to call her since we wanted to handover the tip to her, he insisted that he would pass it to her and took the tip too! Just as we reached outside, we saw him put the cash in his own pocket!

I must start off with the fact we use to LOVE yo sushi. But I have to say the last 2 visits have been horrible, 1st time we waited over 30 mins for our food when the restaurant was quiet. 2nd time which was yesterday, 28/10/2023 it took 10+ minutes to be seated and we stood and watched both the manager and a second member of staff walking around stacking glasses *they did look over and see the que of people* but there was no desire to seat customers and the restaurant wasn't overly busy, we ordered our food, at a price of £45 all of our street food dishes were served at different times. We even watched the chefs cook dishes for other tables that had arrived after us before even serving our dishes. Some took so long I had to ask them to give me fresh rice as it had been sat on my table for 10 minutes and gone cold before the other dishes arrived. We ordered 2 cokes, they bought over bottles and disappeared. I had to go and ask for glasses, napkins and soy sauce dishes at the back of the restaurant and walking to my table another customer poked me and asked for service as they had been waiting too. I politely told them that I am not staff and they were absolutely horrified and we're very sorry. I took one dish off the belt at 4.90 We were charged £55 in total for a £45 food and drink order and one £4.90 dish. I think we will be avoiding these from now on. They had also ran out of fish and chicken

We had a learning how to make Sushi class at yo sushi In West quay in Southampton for my friends birthday. It was brilliant and I loved it. It lasted 1 hour 40 mins. We had food and drink at no extra cost. We made our own sushi to take home, which is not easy but was so much fun. It was £29:95 per person and totally worth it.. We had a man called Simon did ours last Saturday and he was so lovely and listened to all our questions and is very good at his job. He also taught us the way to cut the salmon and about the knifes. In the photos you can see what I did and took home. The only thing I would change would be to make one with salmon, not crab as it's very strong smell and harder to make. We hadn't booked a table, was told by a member of staff, who has pink hair, that there would be a table available for us in 45 minutes - and also informed us that they would make sure that the designated table has enough space for our pram. When we returned 45 minutes later, the same member of staff told us that it wasn't a pram friendly restaurant and that we wouldn't be able to take the pram through to our table. The sit down tables are not appropriately sized for carry cots either. So we carried our baby through. Scanning the QR code to order was not straight forward, we selected our items, then the web page expired. My partner then ordered on their phone. When we finally got our food half was from when I had ordered and half was from my partners order. We explained this to a fantastic member of staff, Ryan, who helped to clarify our order and made sure that we were taken care of for the remainder of our time at YO! The food arrives on a carousel, however is not covered, raising huge concerns over hygiene, particularly after a pandemic!! Five out of five for Ryan. Overpriced and not as much fun as it used to be. I understand the reasons for not having random plates pass by on a conveyor but that was a big part of YO! Sushi's charm. I enjoy the low hassle of the new service set-up. You're not rushed to order when someone comes to your table, you do it all yourself. The ordering online is also helpful because you can see how much you're spending, without waiting for a final bill. The staff are always helpful, and the one time I was waiting a long while for a dish, they made sure it was put to priority. The booths are very nice, but dont expect to sit in one on a busy day/time. Make sure you'll be okay at the bar. Though the seating at the bar isn't bad, and you get the bonus of the food being cooked. The online menu could be organised better, but for people unfamiliar with the menu, it's still very good. The Korean fried chicken and yo!fries are my current favourites, I would definitely recommend. But if you really dont like spicy things, dont get them.

Recently changed how the train works from taking what you like to only what you've ordered which is a step down as is the new QR method of ordering.

You have to order all the food now, choice is limited now too, most of my favourites are gone, that's if what is left on the menu is avaliable. Probably just go to wagamamas in future.

Great first time experience and which was complemented by Rosa who gave us great service. Really good menu choice and both the food quality and portion sizes were spot on. Will undoubtedly return on our next trip to Southampton!

Really bad experience. boring, overly sweet food. Similar food to a Japanese section in a supermarket, chucked in a microwave. At best. Had to get waiters attention for water, then soy dippers, then kids cutlery. Water jugs and cups were scaled and off putting. Bad . The kid puked his bento up when we got home.

Appalling. They had gone QR code only, half of the basics were off the menu, including mizo soup, squid, chips etc. Despite booking a table yesterday there was no mention of any of the above. Prices had also nearly doubled. Needless to say we didn't stay despite being a birthday surprise :-(

We went for the 97p special anniversary menu as a treat, only to find that we had to spend £10 per head to access it. So we left. There was no mention of having to spend £10 in any of the advertising, or even at the restaurant. The waitress informed us as we tried to order.

Compulsory service charge..!?!? The food turned up on a conveyer belt!! Fair to say that's unreasonable right? The food was ok though. I won't rush back.

Miserable waitress, refused to go and get ice for drinks, refused to get kids a fork, very stroppy attitude. Ordering on app is a real pain in the neck, food very slow at coming to table. However food all very good, but incredibly expensive.

Absolutely diabolical place, sushi bland and over priced, menu super limited and when I asked staff for a real menu as I didn’t want to order via the app they acted like I killed their cat. 3 pound sushi from Lidl bay as more substantial. Honestly please do your research and experience proper sushi.

The food was incredible and there was a large amount of food for vegetarians the way it works was confusing but fun to learn. The website was disappointing as it was super confusing- it’s a shame they don’t accept cash but it’s good nonetheless!

Yo Sushi used to be great. Now, not so much. You can only order through the website which is just really annoying. Waited 25 minutes for the child's meal deal to arrive while the overly expensive sushi we had ordered was piling up. The beef teriyaki is now bland and chewy, the dynamite roll was fridge cold and unappealing, and the fried chicken had a horrible texture, I had to spit it out because I was sure it wasn't cooked - it was, but you wouldn't know unless you looked at it. I'll stick to the kiosks in Tesco from now on, which is a shame because I used to love these restaurants.

Lovely food, really efficient delivery to table, not sure about giving a tip as the order is made with an app and the food is delivered by conveyor belt ...

Online menu/ordering system kept failing as it relies on a stable internet connection so had to rely on grabbing a member of staff to get a menu and order manually. Food was great though.

Not very wheelchair accessible as far as seating goes, and on the pricey side, but the food was very good. Plenty of vegan options and the staff were careful about allergens.

These guys are not good. The food in not cooked in the the proper chippy fryer sitting in the front of the shop but out the back so you can't see what is going on . The chips were ok, 5/10 but the batter for the fish very substandard soggy and not cooked properly though and the fish was very small definitely not cod god knows what fish it is??
