The food from this takeaway truly touched my heart. I’ve tried many takeaways, but this one stood out remarkably. The chicken korma and masala were not just delicious; they felt like a warm embrace from home. After enjoying their meal, I felt a deep sense of comfort, as if I had savored a home-cooked feast. Plus, their naan bread was absolutely delightful. It’s a wonderful find that I can't wait to revisit!

I’m gutted for this business. When my other regular Indian increased their prices (and is usually closed on a day we want Indian) we would go to Tarka. When Tarka first opened, the service, the food and the time of delivery was fab. Always delivered within the specified time frame. The last few times we have ordered the delivery time has been awful. Out of the recommended time frame, leaving us to call up to hear the usual ‘delivery is on its way’. Thought we’d order from here this week (usual takeout closed for the day and I actually really enjoy the food from Tarka!). On placing the order, it advised delivery within 80minutes. Not ideal but the wait time seemed to be increased (something that was probably needed!) HOWEVER, 80 minutes later, still no food. Called up and was told the driver was on the way. I live relatively close. 30 minutes later, still no food! I called up again to be told it was being delivered. I advised that the person I spoke to 30 minutes prior told me the exact same thing. The owner came and delivered my meal, apologetic and polite. Which was nice of him. But I feel that he has to take some ownership of the situation. It’s a shame, as I’ve said, I really enjoy the food from here! But the delivery times are questionable! Especially when you’re told it’s on its way and it’s obviously not. A bit of honesty in the situation would defuse some bad feelings.

1hr 20 mins for delivery. The food was horrible 😫. All 3 of us couldn't eat it. Really think the chicken was off. It had a fishy taste. The worst place I have eaten. Never again!

I have been a regular customer at Tarka Express, and their food has consistently been good. However, today's meal was exceptional.The biryani was particularly delicious, with flavors that were mouthwatering. It's clear that they have stepped up their game. Highly recommended

Not fresh food. Pakoras smelled spoiled. Yellow sauce smelled and tasted like it was refrigerated for some time. Biryani had no taste just yellow rice with chicken. Doesn’t look like it was cooked by a chef. Not at all worth the money.

I had Chicken Tikka Pathia, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Chips and 2 Naan Breads (Keema Naan and Garlic Naan) on a Takeaway order tonight and the food was excellent. The Website was easy to use and gave me a precise pick up time. Food was pipping hot when collected. I have to say that was the best Pathia and I’ve eaten loads of them! (I am reliably informed the Masala was also extremely good). The meat was tender, generous portions and fantastic value for money. A very satisfied customer this evening. Won’t be going anywhere else for takeaway in future

My self and my husband decided to try this Indian takeaway, as our original one closed down, I would like to say we actually really like the food from here, the first order was a bit different as we needed to adjust to the change, we understand everyone cooks different, but after the first order we decided to give it another go, now we order about once a month and it's really reasonably priced and always on time if not early which doesn't bother us, so thank you for the good food, the friendly service and being affordable:)

My mum ordered a takeaway from here last night and thought it weren’t up to its usual standard - she said it didn’t taste fresh so could not finish it. She was up all night being sick and has got food poisoning. We won’t be coming here again.

Ordered food at 6pm and it arrived at 8.15pm. Food was mediocre

Great indian, restaurant quality food for a takeaway wont use anywhere else anymore. Delivery can take a while so alot quicker if you collect and you get a decent discount if collected. Food is great never any complaints, and most importantly this is a clean take away you can see the chefs working in the kitchen and how tidy and clean its kept!

Over 2 hrs after ordering, we received cold soggy food, which was bland and inedible. Definitely won't be going back!

The food is generally good but the waiting time for delivery is completely unacceptable. Placed an order at 6.10 on a Saturday evening, and after chasing twice by phone, our order for 2 people arrived over 2 hours later. Will not be using again

Just ordered a plain medium chicken curry and it was so hot and spicy we couldn't eat it

Terrible "service". Food ordered at 6pm....delivery time of 60 minutes. Waited 2 hours and called and was told it was ready and needed to be "packaged up" and would be with us within 10-15 minutes. 35 minutes later made another call to say it was ready but they were waiting for a driver. Over 2.5 hours from ordering. No food. AVOID!!!!

Its a takeaway so atmosphere doesnt matter, but the service was great. The food flavours were amazing, every dish food had lovely flavours, the only reason it lost 1 star was the chicken was over cooked and a bit dry even in the curry sauce. If that was sorted would be in my top 3 indians of all time. And ive tried alot!

This is a take away venue and delivery was swift . all is all a nice indian meal apart from the fact that the veg curry did not contain any potatos (which i thought was strange) . There were plenty of sprouts in it though ? which in my opinion are only required with Christmas dinner

Quantity and quality of food is really good. Ordered chicken biryani, lam biryani and mixed kebab. The portion size is very satisfactory and the biryani also came with plenty of curry which was surprising. Would definitely order again.

A visitor to the area, I was recommended Tarka so we ordered for 4. Wonderful food and delivery. Great value for money! Recommend highly and will definitely use on my next trip!

Invited guests round for dinner, ordered from this restaurant & had a few drinks, called up 2 hours later and they said it was being packed and would be with us in 10 mins, 35 mins later still nothing so when we called them they said it still hadn’t left yet Cancelled our order and ruined our evening completely

Fab, delicious food. Ordered several times now and not disappointed. Ordered a new dish last night , never heard of b4 and it was delicious amazing flavours... Loved whole meal. Only down side is long delivery time, hence 4 stars, but understand they are busy!! And they do give an estimated time on your confirmation email. Compliments to the Chef! 😊👍

This is the second week on the trot we’ve used Tarka. Easy online ordering. Great menu. Delivered on or around the time requested and the food is delicious. Generous portions, lovely flavours cannot fault it.

Food is all very good, doesn’t really matter what you order as everything is delish! Big range of options and all very nicely cooked. Chicken is always moist and tasty! The delivery drivers are also very polite, quick and friendly Thank you Tarka :)

I'm bursting with flavours after this amazing takeaway. The blends of herbs and spices were so delicious in the dishes we ordered. Order several dishes we had never heard of and we were not disappointed. Great value for money But delivery time was over 90 mins. Hence the 4 *

The delivery was supposed to be done within 20-30 mins. My order actually took more than three hours to arrive. The food was cold, soggy and completely inedible. It went straight to trash. I called the restaurant multiple times to track my food. The first two times the man on the phone lied and told me the order has been sent and I will receive it within 5 mins. The third time he told me that there is a lot of traffic and the delivery is unexpectedly delayed. This restaurant is close to my house and this was a weekend. I doubt there was much traffic on that route. Do not order from here. They are dishonest and lie. I do not mind a bit of wait but the blatant lying was a bit too much. The food will take more than a few hours to arrive and it does not taste good. Avoid at all costs. I should have paid attention to the other negative reviews here. Extremely disappointed.

Have been using these guys for about 12 months now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Always get a top curry, and the meat is always tender. Prices are more than reasonable too

Really good Hyderabadi Chicken Biriyani.

Just had a large order delivered for my stepsons 15th birthday .He used used to be a chicken nugget only young man but we used to let him try from our plate just to get him to sample a different flavours and now we'll he's wants to eat a good variety but he only wanted a MADRAS !! It was delivered on time plping hot and he wanted me to say THANK YOU we all enjoyed it

I can honestly say this place has the best indian food iv ever tasted. He cooks everything fresh and in front of you so you can see exactly what hes cooking! The food is very tasty and portions generous. Very nice friendly people as well. Would highly recommend.

I used this place once, said I'd never use it again but the girl friend wanted to try it the food is pre cooked and frozen in plastic take away containers, it is put in the microwave to heat up, when you get your delivery it has the name of the dish written on the lid in marker pen,the food is watery and barely warm, if I could give minus stars i would, don't waste your money on this place

Brilliant takeaway. Excellent lamb jalfrezi. Prefer the food here to going to our preferred Indian restaurants in Romsey. Delivery times can sometimes be a bit hit and miss but worth the wait.

Ordered chicken curry with mushroom rice but taste like cardboard. No taste what so ever, no spices in my curry. Garlic bread plain as well. So disappointed. The worst curry I ever taste.

Having lost all faith in Indian takeaways, ie they all taste the same, a recommendation of Tarka, that faith has now been restored. Ordered starters, 3 mains with rice, poppadoms & naan and I can honestly say its the best Indian food we have tasted in years. The spices and flavours of each dish was exquisite and cooked to perfection and excellent value for money, 20% off with orders over £15. We ordered online & requested a timed delivery to which they were spot on. Highly recommend, you will NOT be disappointed.

Total well deserved rating and I don't do that to often. I will be returning, even my wife enjoyed the curries from here and that's a rarity. Clean, friendly and good food at a good price.

Finally managed to track my favourite chef to this new venture of his. He was the head chef at Kutis in Oxford street at its peak. A very comprehensive menu covering all of the normal Indian fare and then the specials that are excellent and cooked really well. This takeaway is s good as some of Southampton’s finest Indian restaurants with some unique dishes. Great food really well cooked

Really tasty food, such a different menu to other similar takeaways in the area. Nothing too spicy which meant I could enjoy all of the lovely flavours and textures. We'll definitely be ordering again as there are lots more things on the menu we need to try!

Had a couple currys now. Very nice If i was a tiny bit picky. Could be slightly warmer. Maybe deliver driver needs to be quicker on delivery's so its hotter when it gets here. Food good though

I would give no stars but won't let me. Only thing fresh was the whole bay leafs left in my dish. It had long worm like onions in it. Had frozen mixed vegetables in it from the supermarket. Chicken was really dry. When went to pick up the the food no one was following covid guidelines and dont appreciate the mixed salad in the hot rice. Dont recommended and won't be returning.

We started ordering 2 days ago, and wow excellent customer service, very friendly staff, always throw in some extras for us. The food is devine, the portions are alot which is great. We love this restaurant.
