Service needs improving here we found. Order taken swiftly but drinks delivered to the wrong table and then went back to the bar. (We’d only ordered them from the same guy 5 minutes previously!) we were left without drinks until we chased them…. Had to ask for cutlery. Food delivered fairly quickly and veg came a few mins later. No one checked everything was ok. Typical Sunday lunch with thinnest 2 slices of beef ever! Fairly good value. We asked for dessert menu and it didn’t ever arrive so we waited a while then left but would have entertained dessert and coffee if service had been there. Our waiter seemingly ‘was off duty now’ but a shame he didn’t a) give us dessert menu or b) hand over to someone else. This stuff needs brushing up on for us to bother returning. Shame as it’s our local…. We could be back if service improves.

Had Sunday lunch at the Yew Tree, whilst staying in the area for a long weekend. When we rang to book, staff were very helpful & able to find it’s a table. The food & service were both excellent. Staff couldn’t do enough for us & our server was friendly & efficient throughout. They had run out of my first choice but, the chef came out & offered an alternative. Would highly recommend & will visit again, if we are in the area.

We had an excellent meal at The Yew Tree and will be returning there next Sunday for a birthday celebration with family. The table service was great and the Sunday roast the best we've had for some while, we can thoroughly recommend it. You need to book even on a Monday evening - they were turning people away. Relieved that there was no noisey music so elderly relatives could enjoy the evening. Good piece of haddock & chips for us all. Waiting staff were polite & trying their hardest but did not seem 100% sure of what they were doing : IPA is not the same thing as best bitter, and they asked twice if we wanted dessert menus even though I asked them to bring out a ‘surprise’ birthday cake instead. Not to worry - it was a lovely meal and we would go back. Parking is mainly on the road but that does not cause a problem.

The Yew Tree Inn is such a lovely, traditional Cotswold pub in a very pretty village a few miles from Tewkesbury. On this occasions, we visited for drinks after a lovely dog walk but we have also eaten here. The welcome was warm, the service was excellent and our dog was treated as a VIP guest!. The menu here is well priced and excellent. Whilst there were some vegetarian options there were no vegan options (our son is vegan) but a quick enquiry with the landlord confirmed what we suspected - they are more than willing, and able, to cater for a vegan diet. We lived locally and won’t hesitate to visit again but if you are visiting from further afield the Yew Yree is well worth a visit.

I used to live near Bredon Hill and this pub was one of my local 'haunts'. It was always a proper country pub and the food and drink was spot on - remember the "Six of the Best" menu?! - fab! I now live away from the area and was visiting family, so I booked us all in for Sunday Lunch. The food was good - good choice and the place was busy with Mothers Day lunches. My only moan would be the decision to have the TV on in the main bar area. I understand that if there was a major sporting event you may have it on (usually in a quieter part of the pub), but the TV on as standard just killed the atmosphere and frankly made the bar area seem really naff and chavvy! The Yew Tree is a country pub - not a Wetherspoons on the Evesham bypass!

What a lovely traditional little pub for Sunday roast. We had phoned through and booked a table the day before, we couldn’t get the time we wanted but that wasn’t an issue as we got booked in 30mins later. Basically book or I think you could be disappointed if you just turn up. We were greeted by a big smile and a friendly waitress showed us to our table straight away. Drinks were ordered and served to us at the table. The main event-lunch my partner had the roast chicken which he said was absolutely delicious I had the vegetarian option the non toad in the hole, both meals were served with fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, leeks, kale, red cabbage and an absolute banging Yorkshire pud. Extra gravy was served in a gravy boat with the meals. The waitress asked if we wanted desserts but honestly there just wasn’t enough room to eat anymore. The food was top class the best Sunday lunch we have had out in a long time. I think why I have taken the time to write this review is it is rare to have freshly cooked food there was nothing on our plates that came out of the freezer!. This was our first first visit to the Yew Tree and I’m sure there will be many more. Thank you

I’m 28 and have never had to send food back before, but my partner’s food tasted off to a point where we had to send it back and my food really wasn’t great either, so I stopped eating and we sent the food back. These were our mains and we had bread beforehand which was also pretty poor. I let the manager know we’d come once before and it was a shame as it was so good the first time and that it was our anniversary that day of our second visit. She explained that there had been a change of ownership/management a few weeks ago and she was now the one in charge. Despite not eating most of the food the manager opted to give us a £10 discount (which didn’t even compensate us for the food we hadn’t eaten), which is something I would think you would do if maybe one part of the meal wasn’t ideal in some way. It was pretty clear to me that there was very likely a whole change of staff at it was rotten from the new manager down. The whole thing was a bad experience and ruined our anniversary evening, needless to say I won’t be going back there.

The Yew Tree is one of our local pubs and we were very much looking forward to it re-opening under the new management. We have been several times since it re-opened on 1st May and always have a wonderful experience. The staff are so friendly and attentive, and instead of just tolerating our puppy, which a lot of dog-friendly pubs do, they make a huge fuss of her and give her lots of treats! So she loves going there as much as we do! The food is lovely, less fussy than it was under the previous management, but it is very good pub grub and very reasonably priced, so we eat there more often than before as it is more our kind of food, and a lot more affordable. We are also very happy with the wine and beer selection. The pub is beautiful inside and has a fantastic garden, so it is a wonderful place to come all year round!

Called in today (4th June) for lunch for the first time since Mar 2020. On arrival the lady we spoke to was unwelcoming and the lady who served us very abrupt. The food was mediocre and we were horrified to be brought sauces in open bowls which had been used by others, with times as they are these should have been provided as single servings. The wrong wine had been put on the bill, I believe I had been given the more expensive wine but it was not the one I had requested, the bill was amended but no apology offered. Our worst complaint was not one member of staff that we saw was wearing a mask indoors, which breaches government guidelines (this was also reported by someone on 29 May, to which the landlady replied she would take immediate action to resolve). The lady serving us came uncomfortably close to us, at one point leaning over us at the table, no concept of social distancing at all! We won't be returning, which as locals, is a shame.

Dry, underspiced, tiny portion with a slice of stale supermarket poppy-seed loaf! No apology - they'd run out of paratha so instead of taking dish off the menu, decided to send it out with white bread. No pickles, no yoghurt, no poppadoms, nothing. After complaining and asking, they agreed to knock a bit off the bill - where it should have been on the house - then didn't knock anything off the bill - we had to ask again. We had a poor bar meal at this pub last week. There was a limited and very narrow lunchtime menu. We ordered Steak burger and Falafel burger. They both came with chips. The problem was they also came in a bread bun but there was nothing much else - no coleslaw, no pickle, no chutney, no salad - it was simply a pile of carbohydrate on a plate. We only went there because the last meal we had there was brilliant but was in September 2020 - we can only assume the pub has changed hands. The only saving grace was a decent desert.

This is a lovely, cosy country pub. The service was second to none and the food absolutely perfect. Prawn toast was best I’ve ever had. The fish and chips were a huge portion (enough for 2). Perfect crumble topping on the apple and raisin crumble. My friend was equally impressed. Cost wise very impressive especially for the high standard of quality perfectly cooked food.

We were out taking a drive with absolutely no plans to stop anywhere for lunch. As my bladder filled, I decided there was nothing for it, but we had to go back to the beautiful pub we'd just passed 2 minutes before. It would be rude not to sample the food while we're here (we've been isolating a loooong time, and haven't been out for a meal in months!)We had our temperature tested and were seating very swiftly and I made use of their facilities (which were clean, and beautiful too!)The lunch menu had only just been launched, and boy we were in for a treat. The set menu was £19.95 for three courses, or £14.95 for two. We never manage three courses....well, unless it's just THAT good that we can't resist!StartersThe options all looked amazing but I opted for Prawn Toast, citrus mayonnaise, sesame and chives for starter: it was a very generous portion, with large unctuous prawns served on a large slice of sourdough bread covered in black and white sesame seeds with little droplets of creamy, bright citrus mayonnaise. It was large, and filling and I was worried I'd be too full for my main! My husband had the wild mushrooms on toasted sourdough, rocket and parmesan: I had a sample of this and it was creamy and delightfully mushroom-y - another large portion.MainsI had the crispy soft yolk duck egg, kombu wild rice, goats curd and pumpkin. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do like to have vege dishes. This one was a corker! The duck egg sat proudly in the centre of the flavourful wild rice, covered in panko crumbs, I couldn't wait to pop it open and watch it ooze it's golden sauce over my meal. It did not disappoint! I was torn between ordering this dish and the burger: it was only having a chat to the wonderful, helpful Natcha that helped make my mind up. I was concerned about the goat's cheese. I'm not a fan of any cheese usually. I needn't have worried, it added a subtle creaminess that wasn't pungent at all. It perfectly balanced the dish alongside the sweet puréed pumpkin. Again, the portion is very generous but I nearly licked the plate clean with my well santised fingers! My husband had the miso glazed aubergine with quinoa, chilli jam, crispy tofu and shaved seasonal vegetables - again, we always sample each others food - this was absolutely full of flavour. I hate quinoa; I've had it in decent restaurants and always loathe it. Not here... whatever they do it, it's absolutely perfect, tasty and I am converted! The crispy tofu added a perfect crunch element to this gorgeous dish, and the aubergine - well, I could have polished off my husband's plate too! The waitress offered to bring us the dessert menu and me and my husband both gave each other the look. This look, at any restaurant, is usually a "hell no, let's get the bill, drive home and take a nap!". Not today my friends. Today it was a pleading look that meant, let's just take a peak!I'm glad we did. DessertI had the sticky toffee pudding, toffee sauce and clotted cream ice cream - it was everything this pudding should be: warm, unctuous, satisfying, sweet but gently balanced with the clotted cream ice cream which softly melts its way through the toffee sauce. Husband had the chocolate brownie, chocolate sauce, chocolate crumb, salted caramel ice cream. Now, this whole 'salted' dessert fad has completely missed me and my husband by - we loathe salted anything in a dessert. But this was so subtle and done so well we didn't actually mind, and it offset some of the sweetness from this very rich chocolate-y dessert. The brownie was good, but (I'm really sorry to the chef here... but c'mon, I've been very complimentary so far; there had to be one fault!) it wasn't the best brownie I'd ever had. It had a lovely crust on the outside, but was more like a chocolate cake. It didn't have the fudgy centre that I love (almost undercooked and gooey) but that might just be my own taste. The chocolate crumb and sauce was delicious though. We were looked after by Natcha who is extremely friendly and helpful, and all of the staff seem genuinely happy to be at work. I'm so sad that they will have had to close again for lockdown 2 after just launching a new menu and after a tough year. The venue is cosy, warm with very comfy chairs and proper solid cutlery. I love coming to a place where the seats are as welcoming as the staff. It's so important. There's a lovely outdoor space available too, which looked very comfortable.I can't wait to return here again, sometime soon! I feel I've found a real hidden gem!

Firstly, food was 10/10. Went here with my mum on holiday. We had complementary homemade warm rolls with salt butter- incredible. We both had fish and chips for mains. All homemade even with homemade tartar sauce and mushy peas. Best fish and chips I've ever had! New manager had started that day he was very keen and enthusiastic. Best of luck to him!My only criticism was complete lack of covid awareness. Tables cramped together, staff didn't wear masks and made no attempt to serve from distance to compensate. No car park so had to park down the road.

I first came here in 1977. In a flash of recall memory the Yew tree appeared. We booked for lunch on a rainy Thursday. The decor, service and food were excellent. The fish balls starter were delicious. Main course I had the risotto the others had the cotswold lamb and fish. The desserts were perfect and portions fine for small to medium appetites. The Wye valley beer and house red wine topped off an excellent meal.

The Yew Tree has been fully remodelled by the new management. So ignore any reviews prior to Dec 2019. The garden is now very attractive, and the service extremely welcoming friendly and helpful. Covid was well catered for. The food was outstanding, though possibly a little little. Desserts at £10 are overpriced for a pub, even a very good "gastro pub" (horrible term).

Having come through lockdown we decided to visit The Yew Tree again with its new chef. We had some lovely Sunday take a way lunches during lockdown and now it was time to venture out into their newly refurbished garden What a lovely site with top class furniture which was very comfortable and very friendly staff. The prices are higher than pub prices but the quality of the food was excellent. If the weather is not good enough to sit outside the tables inside have been spread out and for one who is still a somewhat nervous about Covid 19 I felt very safe and if I had to sit inside when the weather was not good enough to be outsdie it would not bother me. We will definitely visit again.

The person manning the entrance insisted we wear bands on wrists (plasticised, non-recyclable) which indicated payment of the garden entrance fee which would allow seating in the garden area. Having reserved a table inside, sunny weather tempted us into the garden. No tables were reserved in the garden area. Staff stated they were unable to move an umbrella to provide shade over a table large enough to accommodate the 5 of us. This request was made by 2 very elderly members of the group. We moved to the reserved table inside the tearoom which allowed dogs at tables. Our expectation of a healthy lunch with salads gathered from the wonderful kitchen garden was dashed. Salad leaves came from plastic bags, quiches were supermarket produced and almost nothing locally sourced. Mediocre, bought-in food assembled on site. When asking for water at the table, a glass urn was pointed out to us. “Glasses” were the single use plastic type. 2 of the party, sitting at opposite ends of the table, ordered the same type of tea. One pot between the 2 was provided. When the meals arrived, the waitress stood at the end of the table, announced the contents of the plates and expected to pass them to the person seated next to her for distribution down the table. A second waitress attempted a similar act with the cutlery (wrapped in a serviette) but then did walk around the table and put it in the appropriate place. The attitude of the supervisory staff was high handed. The younger members, although pleasant, were clearly untrained. Although something of a fuss was made about the displaying of the entrance wrist bands if the garden area of the tearoom was to be used, (can only be clearly displayed on a handbag strap or wrist), several customers not displaying bands were seated in the lovely sunny garden. The gardens were simply beautiful.

Early evening meal with 4 friends . We opted for the 2 courses for £10 deal! We tried the 3 options available and each were lovely. Well cooked and presented. Huge choice of dessert - all delicious. Service was friendly and warm - even though as the only person working, she had a lot on her plate! With drinks - it cost £16 per person. The main menu was also good value. A couple of us would have preferred to see a couple of salad option on the menu so that’s what would have made it 5* However absolutely worth a visit.
